  6. A Samsung 860 QVO MX500 2.5-inch 1TB SATA SSD is now down to $80 at Staples. In order to access the deal, you need to have $100 in cart and apply the 38963 promo code at checkout. We recommend adding something cheap to your cart to get your total over $100. This is even better than the Newegg deal on the Crucial MX500 2.5-inch 1TB SATA SSD, which has since gone out of stock. If it comes back, you can apply the code EMCTBVU24 at checkout, to get the drive at $100, $20 off of the MSRP. The Crucial MX500 features sequential read/write speeds of up to 560/510 MB/s and random read/write speeds of up to 95k/90k on all file types. We found the Crucial MX500 SSD to be a good buy in our review of the solid state drive. It's also good if you're the type of person eliminating HDDs from your life. Wondering which kind of SSD is right for you? Check out our SSD buying guide, along with our best SSD picks of 2019 for comparisons, recommendations and explanations.
  7. For a limited time, Digiarty Software is offering TechRadar readers the chance to download its premium video editing software VideoProc free. This offer will unlock all the premium features of VideoProc V3.3, and allow you to use them for as long as you like. To get your copy, you'll need to register the software before July 8. Digiarty Software is also offering a special discount on a lifetime license to VideoProc, which gives you free updates to future versions of the software for life. A lifetime license usually costs $78.90 (about £60, AU$110), but until July 6, that price has been slashed to $29.95 (about £20, AU$40). Video editing up to 4K VideoProc is a video processing and optimzation tool that can convert files to over 400 output formats, cut videos to remove unwanted sections and rearrange parts of footage, crop to eliminate black bars or zoom in on the action, add subtitles, apply special visual effects, rotate and flip clips, and merge several video fragments in different formats together into one MKV file. It's a particularly good choice for editing video recorded using action cams and drones because it can stabilize and de-noise footage, remove fisheye distortion, and adjust video speed and volume. VideoProc can also download videos from online sources, and record your screen (with optional voice narration). New features in V3.3 include improved conversion of videos to GIF format, enhanced chroma-keying (green screen effects), and the ability to convert video files from the latest Android and iOS devices. This exclusive offer ends on July 6, but lots more great deals will be arriving on Amazon Prime Day.
  8. Pictured here, the Final Edition launched at the end of 2015 was Mitsubishi’s way of saying goodbye to a legend – the Lancer Evolution. Since then, company officials have repeatedly said the Evo is unlikely to come back, and even if it would, a performance SUV would be more likely rather than a rally-inspired sedan like the original. If a new report published by Autocar is to be believed, something must’ve changed in recent times as an all-new Lancer Evo sedan is apparently in the pipeline. Citing undisclosed “Japanese-based sources,” Autocar alleges the eleventh generation of the Lancer will spawn a hot Evolution version with a powertrain derived from the Renault Megane RS. Bear in mind the report doesn’t refer to the current-gen French hot hatch, but to the next iteration of what is currently the fastest front-wheel-drive production car at the Nürburgring. In its hottest form, the Megane RS Trophy and its record-breaking Trophy-R sibling pack a turbocharged 1.8-liter gasoline engine with 296 horsepower and 295 pound-feet (400 Newton-meters) of torque. Thanks to a rumored implementation of a 48V mild-hybrid setup engineered by the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance corroborated with a bump in displacement to 2.0 liters, output will reportedly be pushed to as much as 341 hp and 319 lb-ft (433 Nm). Even if these output numbers are legit, they’re still far less impressive than the mighty Lancer Evolution X FQ-440 MR, which had 440 hp and 412 lb-ft (559 Nm). By the way, the U.K.-only special edition limited to 40 units is still regarded by some as being the most powerful production four-cylinder car ever made, eclipsing even the upcoming Mercedes-AMG A45 S with its 416 hp and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm). Getting back to the Lancer Evo XI, the report goes on to specify the car would ride on the CMF-C/D F4 platform developed by the alliance, with standard all-wheel drive. Autocar doesn’t say when the next generation of the sedan is scheduled to come out, but the Evo flavor is unlikely to debut in the next several years. That is if Mitsu does indeed plan to go after the Subaru WRX STI once again and is not busy repurposing another iconic nameplate for a crossover as it did with the Eclipse.
  9. They’re the chunky, thick-soled throwbacks to the 1990s known as “dad shoes.” And they’re beloved by millennials, whose fascination with retro footwear has brought Fila back from the dead. They’ve also helped Yoon Yoon-soo amass an unlikely fortune. Gene, as he’s known in English, is estimated to be worth about $830 million through his stake in Fila Korea Ltd., which acquired the global Fila brand in 2007 in what South Korean media called a shrimp swallowing a whale. Yoon went on to oversee a revival in Fila’s fortunes, sending shares of his company surging. Central to Fila’s comeback was its move to bring back iconic products from the ’90s, targeting shoppers craving classic looks. Its “Disruptor 2” sneakers, for example, reintroduced in 2017, were among the most po[CENSORED]r women’s shoes at one point last year, according to global fashion search platform Lyst. Fila estimates that more than 10 million pairs were sold as of January. Jenner, Rihanna Fila has also been helped by celebrities wearing its products -- U.S. model Kendall Jenner and singer Rihanna have both been seen in clothing bearing Fila’s iconic red, white and blue logo -- and by its relatively low pricing. “Fila changed its target from people in their 30s and 40s to younger customers while cutting prices,” said Na Eun-chae, an analyst at Seoul-based brokerage Korea Investment & Securities Co. “That worked well, along with its focus on the shoe segment.” Fila Korea shares have surged 400% from the start of last year through Friday, boosting its market value to $4.3 billion. The stock rose as much as 0.4% in early trading Monday. Yoon and his family own about 20% of the company. Yoon, a late bloomer who graduated from college in his 30s, started at Fila in 1991 as head of the company’s South Korea business, earning an annual salary of $1.5 million. But he had his sights set on bigger things. In January 2007, he spearheaded a $400 million leveraged buyout of the global Fila brand and all its subsidiaries. In 2010, he took the company public in South Korea. Originally started in Italy in 1911, Fila had been sold to U.S. private equity firm Cerberus Capital Management in 2003. Its heyday ended in the 2000s when it suffered from declining sales and management made excessive investments. Another key part of Yoon’s strategy was building a majority stake, starting in 2011, in the company now called Acushnet Holdings Corp., the maker of Titleist golf balls. Acushnet listed its shares in New York in 2016. Fila Korea reported revenue of 3 trillion won ($2.6 billion) in 2018, 61% of which came from Acushnet, according to Fila Korea. Fila’s footwear and apparel sales, excluding Acushnet, saw a 52% increase to 1.2 trillion won in 2018 from the year before, the company said in a presentation. Yoon never envisioned a career in dad shoes and golf balls. His mother died of typhoid shortly after his birth. He lost his father to cancer in high school and wanted to become a doctor, but failed three times to get into medical school. He ended up studying and graduating in political science and diplomacy. His age made him an unappealing candidate for entry-level jobs at most companies. After many attempts, Yoon landed at J.C. Penney Co., buying Korean products to sell in the U.S. Later, he came across Fila in the U.S. and persuaded the firm to manufacture shoes in South Korea. After that, Yoon was asked to set up and lead the company’s Korean business, which he later bought out before acquiring the global brand. Fila now operates in more than 70 countries. The brand is seeing rapid growth in markets such as China, where Fila Korea has a 15% stake in a joint venture with Anta Sports Products Ltd.
  10. Religious Affairs Minister Lukman Hakim Saifuddin has admitted to accepting US$30,000 from Saudi Arabia and not reporting it to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). “A committee from the international Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran [MTQ] gave the money to me. The money came from the sultanate, which handed it over through its religious attache, because the royal family routinely holds an international [Quran reading competition] hosted by Indonesia,” Lukman said at the Jakarta Corruption Court on Wednesday as quoted by Antara. Lukman made the statement while testifying as a witness against two defendants, East Java Religious Affairs Agency head Haris Hasanuddin and Gresik Religious Affairs Agency head M.Muafaq Wirahadi. Both of them are accused of bribing M. Romahurmuziy, the former chairman of the United Development Party (PPP), for promotions at the ministry. The KPK seized $30,000 from Lukman’s office during a raid connected to the bribery case. Lukman said he received the money as a gift from Syeh Saad An Namasi, head of Saudi Arabia Embassy’s religious attache office in Indonesia in 2018, and also from Syeh Ibrahim Sulaiman al-Nughomsy, a former head of the religious attache office, for holding the festival. Lukman claimed he had rejected the money but An Namasi insisted that he accept it and use it for social purposes. “I have stored the money for more than three months. I even forgot the money was still stored,” he said. The 2002 KPK Law sti[CENSORED]tes that public officials must report any items it accepts to the antigraft body within 30 days.

  13. We’re less than two weeks away from the official release of AMD’s highly anticipated 7nm based Ryzen 3000 series processors and leaks around the newcomers show absolutely no signs of slowing down. This latest one is nothing short of a whopper, so let’s dig straight into the juicy bits! Just a little under three weeks ago a 16 core monster of a chip based on AMD’s next generation Zen 2 microarchitecture was leaked. Just a couple of days later the CPU was confirmed and announced as the Ryzen 9 3950X, the world’s first ever “gaming” 16 core processor and the fastest ever of its kind to date. The Ryzen 9 3950X runs at a base clock speed of 3.5GHz and a boost of 4.7GHz and if you’re reading this you probably already know that. But, it’s important because the leaked Ryzen 3000 series 16 core processor that is the subject of this article does not run at those frequencies, and as such may be a different chip entirely.
  14. If you can’t wait until later this year to test out Apple’s latest operating system, then you can now download the macOS Catalina public beta. Apple has now released the early version of macOS Catalina for anyone with a compatible Mac to try out. Initially, macOS Catalina was released as a Developer Preview, which required people to enrol in the Apple Developer Program, which costs $100 (about £69, AU$140). However, the public beta is free. Check out our guide on how to download and install the macOS 10.15 Catalina public beta for steps on how to get the software. Use with caution As the macOS Catalina public beta is an early version of Apple’s operating system for Macs and MacBooks, you should only install it if you’re happy with the risk of running a beta version. Because it’s an early version, there will be incomplete features – as well as bugs and other issues – that come part and parcel with a beta release. The aim of releasing beta versions is for people to test the software and report back with any problems. This will allow Apple to fix those issues before the official release of macOS Catalina, which we expect to be around September 2019, going by previous macOS releases. If you rely on your Mac for important tasks and don’t want to risk running into any bugs or errors, we recommend holding off until later this year. However, if you want to try out the very latest features then you can sign up for the Apple Beta Software Program. Just make sure you back up your Mac first.
  15. Once upon a time, the Ford Puma prowled the streets of Europe as a small, smartly styled front-wheel-coupe. Now, the moniker returns – again for the European theater – as a small, smartly styled compact crossover. That may or may not impress fans of the original runabout, but it is certainly a sign-of-the-times in which we live. And with Ford’s current design language in full effect inside and out, it’s arguably not without some swagger. Speaking of which, there are no major surprises in the Puma’s compact crossover shape. Ford previewed the runabout earlier this year, and there’s no mistaking its connection to the new Euro-market Fiesta. Both vehicles share underpinnings, and there’s plenty of Fiesta styling in the profile. The Puma gets a rounder, happier front clip and of course the ride height is up just a bit, but anyone comfortable with the current Fiesta will probably be at home in the Puma. At launch, it will be offered in either Titanium trim or ST-Line, the latter obviously adopting the more sporty appearance. Moving inside, the interior is Fiesta-familiar until you get to the rear. The Puma crossover proportions offer a bit more space in the boot – 456 liters (16.1 cubic feet) all total with the trick lower boot floor removed and the rear seats still up. This rectangular drop-down section beneath the floor in the Puma’s backside has multiple configurations, and it features a drain hole for easy cleanup. The floor stows behind the seatbacks for maximum space, or the Puma can function as a typical hatchback with the flat floor in-place and the rear seats folded. It may not be a suave compact coupe, but this new Puma does have some rather convenient features. Speaking of which, Ford packs the Puma with plenty of available technology. Aside from the expected tidbits such as active cruise control, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, and lane-keep assist, the Puma is available with Ford’s CoPilot360 limited autonomous system that can operate in stop-and-go traffic. A wide-view rear camera offers a 180-degree look of the surroundings – a feature that Ford says is a first for this segment – and both Andriod Auto and Apple CarPlay are offered at no charge. Everything is commanded through an 8-inch central touchscreen, with another 12.3-inch digital screen used for the instrument cluster. A 10-speaker stereo is the range-topping sound system, and you can even get massaging seats. The Puma’s power comes from a 1.0-liter EcoBoost three-cylinder hooked together with a 48-volt mild hybrid system. The mill allows for stop-start functionality and will be offered in either 123-horsepower (92-kilowatt) or 153-hp (114 kW) flavor. A diesel option is said to be coming further down the road, but regardless of the engine, all power goes just to the front wheels. No all-wheel-drive option is available. All in all, it doesn’t sound too bad for a compact crossover, but this segment is not without competition from all side, not the least of which comes from Ford's own lineup. The Puma joins an already-crowded Blue Oval Euro crossover family that includes the compact EcoSport and Fiesta Active, not to mention the Focus Active and Kuga which are marginally larger. As for coming to the United States, it’s not in the cards for the moment, but with Ford going SUV crazy on all fronts, seeing the Puma stateside at some point in the next couple years wouldn’t be a surprise. For now, Ford says the Romanian-built Puma will go on sale in Europe by the end of the year. Pricing information will come closer to the Puma’s on-sale date.

  17. Japanese prefer spending more time with their families and less time in office meetings and working late compared with 30 years ago, but are not necessarily hoping for longer vacations, according to a survey by Citizen Watch Co. The online survey, which was conducted on Sept. 25-26 on 400 adults 20 years old or older, shows that people seem to have become “inactive” on the back of the long sluggish economic situation, according to an expert studying the relationship between people’s lives and time. The Japanese watch company compared the results with those of a similar survey conducted in 1989, when Japan’s asset-inflated bubble economy was at its peak. The collapse of the bubble economy was followed by a prolonged recession known as the “lost decade.” In the latest survey, workers said they thought the time they spend in office meetings was “just about right” at 40 minutes, about half of the amount that respondents answered in 1989. They also said they prefer spending less time wining and dining with clients. Time spent on office automation equipment like computers more than doubled to 2 hours and 53 minutes from 1 hour and 17 minutes in 1989. The percentage of men who said they do not use such equipment at all dived to 2 percent from 22.8 percent. “The era of using a pen and paper in the work area has ended,” Citizen said. The amount of monthly overtime has decreased to 12 hours and 39 minutes from nearly 16 hours, and in a further sign that more people seem to prefer spending less time at work, daily family time increased 11 minutes to 1 hour and 49 minutes. Regarding family life, the time in which couples felt like newlyweds shortened to around 15 months from 18 months, while the right amount of summer vacation is now said to be 8.2 days, shorter than the 9.0 days preferred 30 years ago. “People probably think it is pointless to take so many vacation days. There’s less time spent going out for drinks and it’s become harder to spend compared to the past,” said Yoshio Arai, a professor at the University of Tokyo. “Time spent having fun has probably shortened and I have the impression that people have become inactive as a whole.”
