  6. I will try my best to be on point and to not make a story out of it. Dear "Devils", each everyone of you is keep asking these questions: "How can I get Moderator on forum?", "How can I get upgraded to Global Moderator?", "How can I get Administrator?" etc. In this topic you will have all the informations you need to know about this subject. Before I'm going to explain every grade you can get and how to get I'm going to say a few words of how I got up here. I can't say through hard work but I placed a big part of my time on this community and I know I'm not the only one that does/did that but with a little work there & here, being old on the community, respecting and getting the respect back, you can do whatever you want, not only here! Remember, just through work and respect you can be recognized, not for asking the grade. Now, I'm gonna' put here some grades that I'm gonna tell you how to get them and informations about them. GFX Designers - If you want to achieve this grade, you have to be quite good in what you're doing in Photoshop and most important, active at the Design section (answering to requests, making GFX Battles, making a gallery with your works etc.) Premium - The only ways to get this grade it's to join AOTM/SOTM competitions (at Design category) or to buy it with 5 euros. If you want to buy it, "click here" for a tutorial. Journalists - Being active with useful topics at the World of Games category, you have to know every game like a book. Moderators - Every member needs to start with this grade first, the duty you have to get this grade it's to have a good english because you represent our community if you will be in our CSBD Staff, you have to report members that doesn't respect our rules, you have to make useful topics at different sections at Devil's Club, you have to help people that need help at the section named F.A.Q. Global Moderators - This is not that hard to get but if you have competition, it is. The things you have to do to get an upgrade from Moderators to Global Moderators is to do the same things you need to get the Moderator grade because once you get to have Global Moderator, you need to clean & solve all the reports that members/moderators are making. Administrators - I will be honest with you, not everyone can get this grade, you need full trusting from all of the Administrative Team to be a part of us, you have to know how to solve Support Tickets, you have to provide a big quantity of activity, staying in our Staff as Global Moderator for too long already and got tired of solving just reports etc. It's so many duties you can't imagine, BUT, if you show us that you can handle this grade and you're old here, especially in our Staff, you can get it for sure! I want to add one more grade here even if it's not about moderating. Ex Staff - Not every member that was in our Staff can get this, so stop asking for it. This grade can get only the members that really helped the community grow up with useful things. I hope I helped you guys with all your questions, don't hesitate to leave me a message via PM or on teamspeak about something you didn't understand from here. PULSE, Administrator of CsBlackDevil

  8. Add another victim to Meta’s hit list as the company recently announced it’s shutting down Facebook Neighborhoods on October 1. The shut down notice was first shared by social media consultant Matt Navarra on Twitter(opens in new tab) who posted a screenshot of a Meta project manager going by the mononym Tohm making the announcement on a Facebook Group. The project manager goes on to say the official Group for Neighborhoods will close on September 7 with the official service shutting down on October 1. Facebook Neighborhoods has been referred to as Meta’s answer to Nextdoor(opens in new tab), a social networking app where people can share posts, news, and sell items to others living in their local area. Neighborhoods was first seen in late 2020 when it launched as a pilot program in Calgary, Canada before officially rolling out to the rest of the country and select US cities(opens in new tab) in May 2021. Sponsored Links Why Millennials Are Using Their Phones To Learn A Language In 3 Weeks Babbel Neighborhoods is similar in function to Facebook Groups, but has some unique features like allowing people to create different profiles separate from their main account for their locality. Privacy concerns plagued the service, however. When it was first tested, some were worried Neighborhoods could be used to collect user data and deliver focused ads. Shifting priorities Initially, it was unknown why Meta is shutting down Neighborhoods. The Meta project manager didn't say why in the post. We reached out to Meta and a company representative told us it "learned that the best place to support... local communities is through [G]roups". Neighborhoods was supposed to be a way to bring local communities together, but Facebook Groups already did that job just fine. Plus, Meta is working on Facebook's search function to be more of a "discovery engine" as the representative refers to it. This "discovery engine" will have local content and groups appear more often in an effort to make public communities easier to find. Instagram Reels will also get more of priority to help people share and discuss their interests. Essentially, Meta is refocusing their efforts towards features it believes are better. However, the Neighborhoods shut down continues a recent cancellation spree by the tech giant of cutting unpo[CENSORED]r features. Meta's many cancellations When the COVID-19 pandemic first started, Meta launched a variety of features aimed at furthering online interactions since people were going to be spending more time indoors. But over time, the company has been steadily getting rid of them. You had services like Facebook Live Shopping, the Novi digital wallet, and Facebook Gaming come out during the pandemic with every single one getting axed. Some apps, like Tuned which launched as a way for couples to stay connected while social distancing, have managed to survive up to this point but for how much longer? It’s also important to point out that Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said in a July Q&A session with employees(opens in new tab) the company is going through “one of the worst downturns [it’s] seen in recent history." If this downturn is indeed the cause of this cancellation spree, be prepared to see way more features getting hacked off. As it gets rid of these pandemic-era features, Meta appears to be throwing the proverbial spaghetti against the wall and seeing what sticks. According to a leaked memo, Facebook and Instagram may start charging people for some of its premium features. Some users, like Techradar’s own Daryl Baxter, are not happy with this new direction to say the least. LINK

  9. Originally developed to help people who are deaf to enjoy live music, Music: Not Impossible wearable haptic feedback vests could transform the concert experience for everyone. Addressing absurdities Mick Ebeling founded Not Impossible Labs to address absurdities in the world — especially those that disproportionately affect people with disabilities. These people often have a hard time finding technology that solves the basic living challenges that they face, much less “unnecessary” technology that allows them to experience the joys that non-disabled people take for granted. Not Impossible Labs strives to develop technology that improves the lives of people with disabilities, whether those people need that technology for their basic needs or for pure entertainment. A wheelchair, for instance, is a necessity for many people. But giving someone access to a wheelchair isn’t enough for them to experience the same joys as a person that can walk without aid. It isn’t always possible to provide equivalent experiences to those with disabilities, but Not Impossible Labs seeks out opportunities where they exist. For example, their Project Bishop is innovative sonic localization technology that lets visually impaired skateboarders navigate skate parks with their ears. Music: Not Impossible Music: Not Impossible is a legacy project that has now been spun out as its own company. We talked with Music: Not Impossible co-founded and CTO Daniel Belquer about how this wearable technology lets people with hearing disabilities feel the music at live concerts. It also has the potential to expand the concert experience for non-disabled people by stimulating an additional sense. The Music: Not Impossible team worked with Avnet engineers to develop this project’s key technology. That includes the Vibrotextile wearable haptic feedback systems, zero-latency wireless transmission, and algorithms to translate sound into high-resolution vibrations. They first unveiled this project at a special invite-only concert featuring Greta Van Fleet during 2018’s Life is Beautiful Festival in Las Vegas. Since then, Music: Not Impossible and Avnet engineers have continued to refine the technology and prepare it for mass production and distribution. From the perspective of a concert-goer, taking advantage of Music: Not Impossible is as simple as donning the haptic feedback wearables. Those consist of a lightweight vest, wrist units, and ankle units. In the past, someone with a hearing disability might have tried to stand near a speaker to feel some of the musical vibrations. But that results in muddled “sound” without any distinction between instruments or vocals. By providing haptic feedback at many locations on the wearer’s body, concert-goes can feel each instrument as a unique sensation; they can feel the beat of the bass drum and distinguish it from the strumming of a guitar. Designing the experience Performers and music venues can decide how best to implement Music: Not Impossible technology in a concert. They can choose between one of three integration methods: real-time processing, pre-designed patterns synced to a performance, or a complete multi-sensory experience created by the Not Impossible team. The first is the easiest and most affordable method. Either the venue or the performers themselves would purchase the Music: Not Impossible system. The transmitter unit connects to the sound system’s mixer and automatically translates the audio signals into vibration patterns. This doesn’t require any additional work on the part of the performers or sound engineers and users will feel the vibrations within 30ms — a time delay below human perception. LINK

  10. Here it is, the list of the best mobile games of 2022 so far! We'll be adding more reviews as the games get released, so make sure to bookmark this page and check it every now and then. ALL THE MOBILE GAMES WE'VE REVIEWED IN 2022 Every year we review hundreds of new mobile games, picking out the cream of the crop for you to play. It's not as easy a process as you might think. For a start, there's definitely not time to review everything, our editors and reviewers look through the stacks of titles released each month and pick out those which we think have the most promise. There are tens of thousands of mobile games released every year and we only have so much time. So, even before games are reviewed they're been filtered through on multiple levels before that selection. But, with us doing so many reviews each year we thought it was sensible to create this resource, so that you can, at a quick glance, see the best mobile games of 2022 by review ranking. I'll let you in on what might be quite a well-known secret, the teams at Steel Media (that's Pocket Gamer, Pocket Gamer France, 148Apps, App Spy, and more) really love mobile games. As well we should, because we've been reviewing them for over 15 years now, or, if you want to do that weird thing people do where they add up the collective years to get an obscene number, the sites have been reviewing mobile games for over fifty years collectively... That means that there's a lot of knowledge in these halls, it also means that we are quite precise when it comes to picking which ones we do decide to review. Below you will find, by awarded score and within that, alphabetical order, each of the games we've chosen to review this year so far. Decide for yourself which of them are the best mobile games of 2022! 5 Star - 10/10 - Pocket Gamer Platinum Award Dicey Dungeons review - July 7th, 2022 - Pocket Gamer Dicey Dungeons review - July 8th, 2022 - 148Apps 4.5 Star - 9/10 - Pocket Gamer Gold Award Artery Gear: Fusion review - June 21st, 2022 - Pocket Gamer Card Crawl Adventure review - August 3rd, 2022 - 148Apps Catalyst Black review - May 25th, 2022 - Pocket Gamer Dungeons of Dreadrock review - February 14th, 2022 - 148Apps Grammarian Ltd review - April 21st, 2022 - Pocket Gamer Irregular Recruits review - March 3rd, 2022 - Pocket Gamer Knotwords review - April 29th, 2022 - 148Apps Night Skate review - February 24th, 2022 - 148Apps Papers, Please review - August 29th, 2022 - 148Apps Pawnbarian review - July 28th, 2022 - 148Apps Streets of Rage 4 review - May 28th, 2022 - Pocket Gamer Taito Egret II Mini review - April 4th, 2022 - Pocket Gamer Vivid Knight review - March 9th, 2022 - 148Apps We'll Always Have Paris review - April 28th, 2022 - Pocket Gamer LINK

  11. If you've ever lived with a cat, you know that they can be incredibly active at night, often sprinting up and down corridors — and over their owners' beds — without ever crashing into walls or doors. Given their ability to avoid collisions during these nocturnal exercise sessions, you may think that cats have natural night vision. But do they? According to Caryn Plummer, a clinical veterinary ophthalmology specialist at the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine, that's not quite the right question to ask. "It's not a matter of seeing in the dark or not seeing in the dark," she told Live Science in an email. "The perception of vision — you might say the 'quality' — is more of a spectrum than a yes or no." Related: Why do cats 'play' with their prey? Plummer explained that the amount of ambient light present influences what an individual — be it a human or a cat — can see. However, compared with humans, cats are far better at making out objects when very little light is available, and this is largely due to how their eyes have evolved. "Cats can see in the dark because the structure of their eyes, and specifically their retinas, permits them 'better' vision than humans when light levels are low," Plummer said. "Cats have a higher percentage and concentration of rod photoreceptors than humans, which means they have better sensitivity to light, and can see more in low levels of illumination than we can." According to the Cats Protection charity(opens in new tab), this abundance of rods means that cats can see "six to eight times better" than humans when it is dark. So why have cats evolved to have such exceptional night vision? "Adaptations for vision are the direct result of a species' need to interact with its environment," Plummer said. "Cats are obligate carnivores, meaning they must eat meat in order to stay healthy. They are unable to produce certain required proteins and must ingest them from an external source. Many of their potential prey items are active at night or in dim light." Despite being more active than the average human during the night, cats are not strictly nocturnal animals. Rather, they are considered "crepuscular," or active during twilight, owing to their fondness for hunting at dusk and dawn. However, although feline eyes are designed for night-time jaunts, cats' ability to successfully navigate their environment during periods of near darkness is about more than the composition of their eyes. According to Plummer, cats also rely on their other senses. "Cats have very acute hearing and olfaction [the sense of smell], which aids their ability to navigate," Plummer said. "Interacting with the environment requires the collaboration of all of the senses." So, cats are far more adept at wandering at night than humans are, but when it comes to vision quality, they certainly don't trump humans during the daytime. "In evolution, there is usually a price to be paid for every advantage," Ron Ofri, a professor of veterinary ophthalmology at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem's Koret School of Veterinary Medicine in Israel, told Live Science in an email. For cats, the trade-off for having superb night vision is having to make do with relatively poor vision during the day. "As a result of the adaptations that allow such sensitive night vision, their daytime visual acuity is only about 1/7 of ours," Ofri said. "This shocks people who believe that cats always have superb vision: they do, but only at night; they have horrible daytime vision." Related: Did cats really disappear from North America for 7 million years? According to Plummer, there are other differences between the eyes of humans and cats. For example, cats don't register color the same way humans do. RELATED MYSTERIES —Why do dogs and cats run around in random bursts of speed? —Why do dogs bury bones? —Why do cats wiggle their butts before they pounce? "Cats have a lower absolute number and concentration of cone photoreceptors compared to humans, so they do not perceive color the way we do, nor do they have the degree of detail resolution that we have," Plummer said. Cones in the eye are responsible for determining "day vision" color. Humans have three types of cones, which enable us to perceive the colors blue, green and red, while cats have only two types of cones, meaning what we see as green and red appear gray to cats. It was long thought that cats are colorblind, but many scientists no longer believe that to be the case — though discussion rages on. It is now widely thought that cats can see blues and grays(opens in new tab), and potentially also some shades of yellow and green, but the truth is that nobody can say for sure. "Cats are dichromats, which means they have two types of cone photoreceptors, compared to our three types," Plummer said. "So they do not see as many colors or colors as brightly as we do. We would perceive their daytime visual resolution as fuzzy and out of focus. LINK

  12. England booked their place at the 2023 Women's World Cup with one game to spare after defeating Austria in their first game since winning Euro 2022. Alessia Russo - starting in place of Ellen White, who announced her retirement after Euro 2022 - set the Lionesses on their way with an instinctive finish. Substitute Nikita Parris doubled the lead with a fierce finish from inside the box. England, who gave a debut to Lauren James as a late substitute, only needed a point to make sure of a place at next year's tournament in Australia and New Zealand. Austria were lively and caused problems, with Mary Earps producing a fine stop to deny Laura Feiersinger from equalising in the second half before Parris made it 2-0. The Lionesses, however, got the job done before their final game of the qualifying campaign against Luxembourg in Stoke on Tuesday (19:30 BST). Relive the action and reaction as England qualify for the 2023 World Cup England can start planning for next summer The last time the Lionesses were in action, on 31 July, there were joyous scenes as they celebrated being crowned European champions in front of 87,192 at Wembley. On Saturday, just a few dozen England supporters were inside the Stadion Wiener Neustadt to witness an 18th win in 21 games under Sarina Wiegman. The England boss can now start planning for next summer's World Cup after a ninth win in nine qualifying games sent the Group D leaders eight points clear of second-placed Austria with one round of games remaining. England had scored 68 times without reply in their previous eight qualifying matches, and it did not take them long to add another as Russo produced a clever finish in the seventh minute after Lauren Hemp had connected with Alex Greenwood's cross. Austria, who will now compete in the play-offs, looked lively and caused problems after England made three changes to the side that started at Wembley. Early in the second half, Earps was fortunate to escape after Julia Hickelsberger closed down the England keeper and got a touch before the ball rolled narrowly wide of the post. But with Millie Bright and Leah Williamson once again dominant at the back, the team clocked up another clean sheet on their way to a victory that was confirmed by Parris' thumping finish. Parris had only been on the pitch for a few minutes when she found the top left corner after being played in by Georgia Stanway. Parris' contribution shows depth and talent England have now joined the likes of the United States, Brazil, South Africa, Sweden and France as qualifiers for the World Cup, which will take place between 20 July and 20 August. Will it be another glorious summer for the Lionesses? There is no doubt that White is a big loss, but Russo was busy and marked her start with a neat finish, which will help cement her place in Wiegman's starting plans. The England boss has 10 months to fine-tune her squad before much sterner tests next summer. But Parris' important contribution after coming off the bench shows the depth and talent in the squad despite the loss of White and Jill Scott, who has also retired from football. On a satisfying night for the Lionesses, 20-year-old forward James, sister of Chelsea and England defender Reece, made her debut when she replaced Ella Toone after 79 minutes. LINK

  13. In 1974, the U.S. Supreme Court opined that pretrial detainees maintain their right to vote, and in Texas, you do not lose that right if you are convicted of a misdemeanor offense. Nevertheless, localities and the state government have failed to effectively mobilize the necessary resources to create sufficient voting access for incarcerated, eligible voters to cast a ballot during elections. Bexar County officials have the opportunity to stand out as leaders in promoting equitable voting access in our jails. In this period of mass incarceration, inmates are treated as second-class citizens in many regards, and voting rights are no exception. The absence of adequate jail voting access to those currently incarcerated denies the rights of those yet to be convicted and held in pretrial detention. A recent County Jail Po[CENSORED]tion Report stated that the Bexar County jail’s po[CENSORED]tion is around 67% pretrial detainees, most of whom are eligible to vote. This is a group of intentionally excluded voters with a unique relationship to our political systems, and a unique perspective of the political issues currently being widely discussed. The foundation for a jail-based polling location already exists in Bexar County. Commissioners like Justin Rodriguez and Tommy Calvert have led the way on voting rights reforms. Sheriff Javier Salazar has introduced civics classes into the jail. County officials have the opportunity to further cement their reputations as voting rights champions by bringing a polling location to the Bexar County Jail. Jail-based polling locations have been successfully implemented elsewhere. Cook County became the first county in the country to provide a polling location in their jail in 2017, due to efforts by Chicago Votes, allowing 40% of detainees to cast a ballot in the 2020 General Election. Recently, work spearheaded by Project Orange led to Harris County implementing the first jail-based polling location in Texas, leading the way for progressive reform in a state infamous for voter suppression. Now is the perfect time for Bexar County to follow suit and ensure that all eligible incarcerated residents can fully exercise their constitutional right to vote. Such a commitment comes with the support of MOVE Texas, Texas Rising, Radical Registrars, ACT 4 SA, Texas Civil Rights Project, Texas Organizing Project, All of Us or None Texas, and the Texas Center for Justice and Equity. As it currently stands, the only option available for eligible incarcerated voters is voting by mail. This is insufficient for multiple reasons. Thanks to the restrictive provisions of SB 1, mail-in ballots in Texas are being rejected at record rates. During the March 2022 primary election, more than 24,000 voters had their ballots rejected, and the process of curing a rejected ballot is both difficult and time-sensitive. To correct a ballot in jail would require even tighter coordination between Jail administration and Election offices to ensure votes are ultimately counted. Before accepting the mail-in ballot option as sufficient for those who are incarcerated, we should also have a clearer picture of how many inmates actually make ballot requests. If low numbers are encountered, we should demand greater effort at pro-active and well-resourced civic engagement inside the walls of the jail. Finally, there is currently no process in place for those detained and charged pretrial after the mail-in ballot deadline to access a ballot at all. An equitable system of voting in the jail would not leave entire groups out of the process, based on their being detained later than others. All of Us or None Texas Executive Director Steve Huerta, a formerly incarcerated activist and coalition member, makes the need for jail-based voting emphatically clear. He states, “confinement and detention in a jail pending trial does not disqualify you from voting. We have an obligation to ensure that all those that are eligible to vote are provided an opportunity to cast their vote, including people in jail. Our goal is to act as a bridge and institutionalize this process to ensure that the rights of people in jail to register and vote is a shared task of jail staff, election officials, and community partners. Voting is how we stay connected to our communities and is an intricate part of effective reentry.” Despite widespread support by county officials, including jail administrators and County Commissioners, the Bexar County Elections Department hasn’t responded to recommendations for a polling location within the jail. Nor has the elections office responded to an invite by jail staff and the coalition leading on jail-based voting to participate in a walk-through of the jail. This lack of urgency to ensure eligible voters are able to access a ballot leaves voting rights activists wanting for an election administrator more committed to expanding voting access. Unfortunately, Bexar County Elections Administrator Jacque Callanen has resisted efforts to expand voting access and in 2020, despite expectations of increased voter turnout, only added 18 polling locations after an order from a federal judge. Now, citing staffing shortages, Callanen and the Elections Department are proposing cutting the number of voting centers from the 300 locations used in the November 2020 election to 258 for the 2022 midterms. 15. Kennedy Space Center, Florida (CNN)NASA has once again waved off an attempt to launch its massive new moon rocket on an uncrewed test mission because of technical issues. The scrub was called at 11:17 a.m. ET, three hours before the beginning of the launch window. NASA administrator Bill Nelson said that the mission managers will hold a meeting to discuss the next steps and determine if a launch is possible on Monday or Tuesday, or if the rocket stack needs to be rolled back into the Vehicle Assembly Building. If it is rolled back into the building, Artemis I won't have another launch opportunity until October, with mid-October being most likely due to the schedule at the launchpad, Nelson said. That's because NASA's SpaceX Crew-5 mission is due to launch on October 3 and the early October launch window for Artemis I closes on October 4. The next window opens on October 17. Top NASA leadership addressing VIPs at Kennedy Space Center told those gathered that they think a rollback of the Artemis moon rocket to the building is likely required in order to fix the problem that caused Saturday's launch attempt to be scrubbed, sources told CNN. This would mean the team wouldn't be able to attempt another launch for several weeks. It takes a minimum of three and a half days to roll the rocket back to the building before they could begin to work on it and then roll it back out to the pad. The agency will hold a press conference at 4 p.m. ET to share an update. Artemis I had been slated to take off Saturday afternoon, but those plans were scrubbed after team members discovered a liquid hydrogen leak that they spent the better part of the morning trying to resolve. Liquid hydrogen is one of the propellants used in the rocket's large core stage. The leak prevented the launch team from being able to fill the liquid hydrogen tank despite trying various troubleshooting procedures. It's the second time in a week that the space agency has been forced to halt the launch countdown in the face of technical issues. The first launch attempt, on Monday, was called off after several issues arose, including with a system meant to cool the rocket's engines ahead of liftoff and various leaks that sprung up as the rocket was being fueled. The liquid hydrogen leak was detected Saturday at 7:15 a.m. ET in the quick disconnect cavity that feeds the rocket with hydrogen in the engine section of the core stage. It was a different leak than one that occurred ahead of the scrubbed launch on Monday. The launch controllers warmed up the line in an attempt to get a tight seal and the flow of liquid hydrogen resumed before a leak reoccurred. They stopped the flow of liquid hydrogen and proceeded to "close the valve used to fill and drain it, then increase pressure on a ground transfer line using helium to try to reseal it," according to NASA. That troubleshooting plan was not successful. The team attempted the first plan again to warm up the line, but the leak reoccurred after they manually restarted the flow of liquid hydrogen. There was a 60% chance of favorable weather conditions for the launch, according to weather officer Melody Lovin. The Artemis I stack, which includes the Space Launch System rocket and Orion spacecraft, continues to sit on Launchpad 39B at Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida. The Artemis I mission is just the beginning of a program that will aim to return humans to the moon and eventually land crewed missions on Mars. There is still a backup opportunity for the Artemis I mission to launch on September 5 and 6. LINK

  24. A restaurant in Markham, Ont. at the centre of a mass poisoning that sent several people to hospital over the weekend is set to reopen on Wednesday. Delight Restaurant & BBQ, located at Castlemore Avenue and Markham Road, made headlines earlier this week after 12 people who dined at the establishment became seriously ill, four of whom were admitted to intensive care. Dr. Barry Pakes, York Region’s Medical Officer of Health, previously told CP24 he believed the patrons were poisoned by a spice contaminated with aconite – a plant-based toxin that can be deadly in small doses. “From a public health perspective, now that we’ve identified what we think was the source of the toxin, which was a spice that was in a chicken dish, there isn’t any public health reason for it not to open,” Pakes said in an interview Wednesday. - What is aconite poisoning? Toronto doctors explain “That said of course, we’ve got our investigators going in today just to make sure, from an infection prevention and control and general food safety perspective that the restaurant is exactly where it needs to be.” Link: https://www.google.com/amp/s/beta.ctvnews.ca/local/toronto/2022/8/31/1_6049805.amp.html
