Recently while commenting about the rumors about the (hopefully) forthcoming new Nintendo console (codenamed “NX”), analyst Takashi Mochizuki from the Wall Street Journal made an interesting statement about the PlayStation 5. Yes, you read that right—PS5. You might think with PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro just recently announced that we would have a while to wait before the true next generation PlayStation console is released. But maybe that wait won’t be as long as we thought. This is highly relevant, because Damian Thong correctly predicted Sony’s last two console release dates (both the Pro and the Slim). This makes him a reputable source. So there is good reason to believe his claim that we will see PS5 as early as the second half of 2018. Of course, that may seem like a pretty broad release window, but not when you consider how far away it is. Of course, we do not know where Thong got his information. It does seem way too early to make a sound prediction, unless of course Thong actually has an inside source at Sony who told him what is going on. That is entirely possible of course, but it is hard to believe even Sony would have a solid release date in mind for PlayStation 5. Regardless of the truth, we will just have to wait and see how things unfold. It’ll be some time before you can pre-order PlayStation 5, but be sure to check back here regularly for more news and updates on Sony’s next gen console!
