PlayStation VR 2 has won the HArdware of the Year prize at the Golden Joystick Awards for best gaming hardware of the year. PSVR 2 arrived in February to mass acclaim and kicked off what would be a terrific calendar year for virtual reality technology. Even outside of its own market, competition has been fierce. Gaming hardware has well and truly recovered from the chip shortage issues of the pandemic era, and there have been some astounding bits of hardware and technology released in 2023. PSVR 2 was widely rumored and hotly anticipated in the latter stages of 2022, and despite complaints about pricing, the lack of backwards compatibility with Sony's first visor, and arguably misleading reports of poor sales, PSVR 2 has taken home the gold for so many reasons. https://www.gamesradar.com/psvr-2-best-gaming-hardware-gja-2023/

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is arriving at a time when there's too much Star Wars, and most of it's not good. The Mandalorian has gotten too cheesy in its third season, the Boba Fett and Obi-Wan shows were toothless side stories, and enthusiasm around the next wave of movies feels, at best, muted. Jedi: Survivor bucks this trend. It's one of the best things to happen to the series in years, and easily the best modern Star Wars game. At a glance Jedi: Survivor seems like it falls squarely on the pulpy, safer side of Star Wars—the gifted jedi with untapped potential, faithful droid companion, and swashbuckling crew certainly paint that picture, but there's more to Cal Kestis. Jedi: Survivor doesn't shy away from the darkest chapter of Star Wars history, finds humor in an unfair world, and sometimes succumbs to helplessness. It's not a story about fighting the Empire as much as coping with its dominance, grappling with the futility of rebellion, and questioning what's left to fight for. The modern Star Wars media that this feels closest to is Andor, though it's not as ambitious in its storytelling or as cynical. Unfortunately, those themes take a backseat through the middle of the story while Cal Kestis and crew entertain the deranged tantrums of a skin-deep evil guy with a red lightsaber, reminding us that this is still Uncharted in space. But man, is it damn good space Uncharted. Better, in fact, because Jedi: Survivor breaks free of the Naughty Dog trends 2019's Fallen Order chased. Yes, Cal climbs up crumbling buildings and swings on ropes (especially in the opening hours), but he also double jumps, air dashes, wallruns, and grapple hooks all over the place. There's an almost equal ratio of combat to platforming, and both things are fun this time. https://www.pcgamer.com/star-wars-jedi-survivor-review/

ATLANTA (AP) — A political novice and one of the world’s wealthiest millennials, Vivek Ramaswamy has waged a whirlwind presidential campaign mirroring his meteoric rise as a biotech entrepreneur. On everything from deporting people born in the United States to ending aid to Israel and Ukraine, he consistently displays the bravado of a populist, self-declared outsider. “I stand on the side of revolution,” he declares. “That’s what I’m going to lead in a way that no establishment politician can.” In business and politics, though, Ramaswamy has run into skeptics and sometimes hard facts that threatened to derail his ambitions. In the 2024 campaign, the Israel-Hamas war has refocused the Republican primary on foreign policy and exposed just how much Ramaswamy’s self-declared revolutionary approach puts him at odds with the party’s most powerful figures and many of its voters. At Wednesday’s primary debate, Ramaswamy joined the rest of the field in supporting Israel’s offensive but returned to his practice of not just critiquing his opponents but mocking them. Ramaswamy skewered Nikki Haley, the former U.N. ambassador, and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who some online sleuths suggest wears lifts in his boots, by asking, “Do you want Dick Cheney in three-inch heels?” https://apnews.com/article/vivek-ramaswamy-republican-2024-israel-hamas-ukraine-7425976d01a02019092e3577fdf0be98

In times of armed conflict, the focus is understandably on the danger to humans, and particularly civilians. But what about the animals in a war zone? The Sulala Society for Animal Care – roughly translated, sulala means 'animals' in Arabic – is the only Gazan organization established to help stray animals in the Gaza Strip. It was founded by Saeed Al Err, who was born and grew up in Gaza. An animal lover since childhood, for decades he has fed, housed and helped stray and wounded animals. In 2000, he got together with a couple of friends and registered Sulala to change the lives of animals in Gaza. https://newseu.cgtn.com/news/2023-11-09/The-Gazan-charity-helping-animals-on-the-frontline-1ozI9cBogQo/index.html

Global demand for Electric Vehicles (EVs) is expected to drive significant growth in the auto industry. Amid this positive background, it would be wise of you to buy up three stocks, Toyota Motor Corporation (TM - Get Rating), Hino Motors, Ltd. (HINOY - Get Rating) and Ferrari N.V. (RACE - Get Rating), which are fundamentally stronger than Rivian Automotive, Inc. (RIVN - Get Rating). Automotive company RIVN posted weak financials in the last reported quarter. Although narrowing its losses compared to the prior-year period, the company still posted a $1.37 billion net loss attributable to common stockholders and a net loss per share of $1.44. Moreover, RIVN’s bleak profitability scenario is concerning. Its trailing-12-month EBIT margin and net income margin of negative 157.40% and 148.97% compare to the industry averages of 7.40% and 4.29%, respectively. On the other hand, the overall auto industry shows strong prospects. The industry’s growth is driven by global demand for vehicles, the adoption of automation and robotics technology, increasing demand for electric and hybrid vehicles, and a focus on sustainability and energy efficiency.Vehicle sales maintained momentum this year due to a demand overhaul from previous years. Global light vehicle sales are expected to grow by about 8% in 2023. For 2024, a balance between production and sales is forecasted to be attained. On top of it, with an unprecedented rise in the adoption of EVs, the growth in vehicle sales is expected to continue. EVs are projected to account for 40% of global auto sales by 2030, which translates to roughly 40 million vehicles, with an additional 20 million hybrids. Furthermore, the global automotive industry is forecasted to grow at a 3% CAGR to reach $3.58 trillion in 2031. MCCONNELSVILLE – The Caldwell Redskins had the experience advantage over Waterford in Friday night’s Ohio District 7, Region 27 district semifinal at Morgan Raider Stadium in McConnelsville. That experience edge paid huge dividends as the Redskins took advantage of five Waterford turnovers and held on for a 20-13 win to advance to next week’s regional championship game against Eastern. Time and day of the game is yet to be determined. Waterford turned the ball over four times on offense and also made a huge special teams error that allowed the Redskins to score a touchdown on a very short field. “It was all about perseverance because we knew this would be a tough ball game for us to win,” said Caldwell head coach Chance Rucker. “We knew coming in that we would have to win the turnover battle to win the game and at the end of the day we were able to.” Rucker and his staff felt the Redskins needed to get off to a fast start and they did exactly that as they marched 56 yards on 12 plays on the opening drive of the game with quarterback Cale Bender finding Ethan Crock in the end zone for a touchdown and a 7-0 Caldwell lead. The Wildcats came up with a big play on special teams when they blocked a Caldwell punt to give them possession of the ball all the way down at the Redskin 37-yard line early in the second quarter. Waterford head coach Eric McCutcheon decided to give the Redskins a heavy dose of junior running back Colten Jones and that plan worked to perfection as Jones carried the ball six straight times with the final one a 14-yard touchdown run to tie the game at 7-7 with just under eight minutes to play in the half. Both teams came up empty on their next possessions, but the Wildcats made a huge mistake on a punt attempt with less than three minutes to go in the half. The snap to Wildcat punter Ryker Hutchins was way off the mark and all the Waterford kicker could do was smother the ball at his own 13-yard line and giving Caldwell possession of the ball in the red zone. Dylan Wheeler carried the ball three straight times to move it inside the 5-yard line before Bender forced his way into the end zone to put the Skins back in front. “We are reaping the benefits of having Cale (Bender) as a three-year starting quarterback and he played great tonight,” said Rucker. “Wheeler was a workhorse and we are just going to keep going to these kids and let them do what they do best.” That’s the way the score would stay for the rest of the first half but it was the Wildcats who scored first in the second half to pull within a point of Caldwell. Waterford put together a 65-yard drive to open the second half with freshman quarterback Hayden Jones connecting with junior Jared Heiss on a 10-yard touchdown pass to pull the Wildcats to within a single point. The Wildcats made yet another critical miscue on the extra point attempt when the snap got off the hands of the holder forcing Hutchins to fall on the ball once again with Waterford trailing 14-13. Caldwell got a huge 35-yard kickoff return from junior Alex Herlan that gave them the football in Waterford territory at the 44-yard line on the ensuing kickoff. This time it would take Caldwell just six plays to cover the 44 yards with Wheeler hauling in a 27-yard pass from Bender to move the ball into the red zone and then finishing the drive off by powering into the end zone on a 4-yard run. Caldwell elected to go for two with hopes of making it a two-possession game but came up empty keeping the score at 20-13 and giving the Wildcats hope as they game headed into the final period. Unfortunately for the Wildcats they would turn the ball over three times in the final quarter of the game to essentially shoot themselves in the foot and make things a little easier for a very stout Caldwell defense. Waterford began a drive at its own 25 with eight minutes to play and quickly moved the ball down the field. The big play came when Hayden Jones connected on a 37-yard pass and run play to Trevin Zimmer to move the ball inside the red zone. The Wildcats moved the ball all the way down to the 6-yard line but on a second and goal the Waterford defense was able to strip the ball loose from Colten Jones and pounce on it at the 5-yard line. The Waterford defense came up big as usual as seniors Jase Miller and Jud Cooper came up with a big stop of Wheeler on third down giving the Wildcats at least one more possession with a chance to tie the game or go for the win. Those plans ended rather abruptly as Bender intercepted a Hayden Jones pass to give the ball back to Caldwell with just under two minutes to play. Caldwell needed just one last first down to wrap things up and Bender was up for the task one again as he ran for an 11-yard gain. Wheeler led the way for the winners with 23 carries for 91 yards, while Bender completed 9-of 19 passes for 73 yards. Waterford was led by Hayden Jones who completed 8-of-16 pass attempts for 96 yards and a score while his older brother Colten carried the ball 20 times for 83 yards. The Wildcats’ season comes to a close with an 8-5 record but with a sense of pride after getting better and better every single week of a grueling schedule. “I just hate it for our seniors because I think we let one slip through our hands tonight,” said Waterford head coach Eric McCutcheon. “Credit to Caldwell they are a solid football team that executed tonight and we just made a few too many mistakes.” The Redskins (10-3) look like they are back to being the team that reeled off six straight wins to begin the season before going into a three-game losing streak. “We used that little skid as motivation for us,” said Rucker. “I got to play in a regional championship game back in high school and it’s something super cool and these kids will get to share these moments forever.” McCutcheon felt his squad left everything they had on the football field and that the improvement they made from the start of the season to the end was incredible. “Every one of our kids from the freshmen to the seniors improved every single week and that was exciting to see,” said McCutcheon. “You can’t take that a way and I couldn’t be more proud of them.” https://www.mariettatimes.com/sports/2023/11/turnovers-cost-waterford-in-20-13-loss-to-caldwell/

The festival of Diwali has almost arrived. Dealing with burn injuries is quite a common affair for most women during festivites. Spending time in the kitchen and cooking delicious dishes for yourself or your family often results in burn marks on the skin due to accidental oil leakage or excess. Therefore, you should always be prepared to face such a situation. Here are the top 5 home remedies that can work as powerful first aid for burn injuries and help heal the scars quickly.Rubbing a thin slice of raw potato on minor skin irritations can provide instant relief to the area. Do not apply too much pressure while rubbing the burnt skin and make sure that the juice from the potato piece gets applied to the burnt skin. Raw potatoes can also prevent irritation around the wound. Use it immediately after lighting to get maximum output. Cold water or cold milk: These are considered to be the most effective ways to treat firecracker burns at home. Running cold water over the burnt area for 10 to 15 minutes or applying cold milk on the burnt area can give you immediate relief. Experts suggest repeating this after every few hours to reduce the pain. When using water, avoid using ice cubes as this can restrict blood flow and cause damage to delicate tissues. Aloe Vera: Its soothing properties can soothe the wound and reduce the chances of blisters forming. You need to eat fresh juice or gel from the plant. Before applying the juice, wash the burnt area with cold water or vinegar and leave it for a few hours. It will work magic and heal your wound. Turmeric: Another traditional method of natural healing, applying a mixture of turmeric paste and warm milk to the burn overnight can provide relief to your wound and swelling. Turmeric contains curcuminoids which are bioactive components with anticancer, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties. Coconut Oil: A traditional way to heal burns and wounds, coconut oil contains vitamin E and fatty acids like lauric acid, myristic acid, and capric acid and is anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, and anti-oxidizing. https://www.indiatvnews.com/lifestyle/news/diwali-2023-5-tips-to-treat-burn-injuries-at-home-2023-11-11-902317

LONDON — Russell Brand has made his first public comments following the publication of several sexual abuse allegations against him, and attacked the British government and social media platforms for shutting down his ability to make money from his accounts. “Obviously, it has been an extraordinary and distressing week and I thank you very much for your support and for questioning the information that you have been presented with,” Brand said Friday in a video posted to X, formerly known as Twitter. It was the first time that the comedian turned influencer has commented publicly after British newspapers, including The Times, The Sunday Times and U.K. broadcaster Channel 4’s “Dispatches,” reported allegations that he had sexually and emotionally abused four women. Brand, 48, was accused of rape, sexual assault and emotional abuse by four women. One of them said she was 16 (the age of consent in the U.K.) and Brand was 30 when they began a relationship that included abuse and sexual assault. A fifth woman has accused Brand of flashing his genitals at her. The comedian turned wellness influencer has denied the allegations, saying that all his relationships have been consensual. In a video posted to his social media accounts before the publication of the allegations and the program called “Russell Brand: In Plain Sight,” he said he refuted what he called “very serious allegations.” NBC News has not spoken to any of the accusers nor independently confirmed any of the allegations against Brand. Aside from thanking his supporters, his second video focused mostly on criticism of the British government, which he said had “asked big tech platforms to censor our online content, and some online platforms have complied with that request. “What you may not know is that this happens in the context of the online safety bill, which is a piece of U.K. legislation that grants sweeping surveillance and censorship powers, and it’s a law that has already been passed,” he added. YouTube blocked Russell Brand from making money from its platform, and the BBC pulled some of Brand's shows from its online streaming service. His management agency, Tavistock Wood, said Sunday that it had dropped Brand as a client after saying it had been “horribly misled” by him. His former employers at Channel 4 and the BBC have said they are conducting investigations into the allegations. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/russell-brand-speaks-sexual-assault-allegations-first-time-rcna116998

The US has about 50,000 public charging stations for electric vehicles, compared to an estimated 145,000 retail locations to purchase fuel for a gas-powered car. That’s the prime source of the dreaded charging anxiety — the worry that you could run out of power in the middle of a trip. Not only are current and would-be EV drivers worried about whether they can find charging, they’re also concerned charging infrastructure might not work. More than 20% of EV drivers in the US said they have pulled up to a charging station and been unable to charge their vehicle due to equipment malfunction, according to a study from J.D. Power, a data analytics company.A slew of startups are attempting to solve this problem by developing mobile chargers, from clunky metal boxes on wheels to sleek robots ready to prowl parking lots. While startups are seeing an initial wave of interest from vehicle fleets — which often park where charging infrastructure is unavailable — the technology may become more widespread for everyday drivers in the future. The charging network currently being built out across the US “is the backbone” for drivers ”to feel confident that they can use an electric vehicle to go long distances,” said Alan Jenn, assistant professor at the Institute of Transportation Studies at the University of California, Davis. “Mobile chargers offer a slightly different, slightly nuanced sort of charging experience, and these things are going to find a home somewhere.” EV manufacturer Lightning eMotors has developed a mobile charger called Lightning Mobile, which weighs a whopping 9,900 pounds (4,500 kilograms) and costs more than $300,000. Not exactly what one might consider “portable,” the unit functions more like a generator that can be rolled up anywhere charging infrastructure is lacking, including remote locations, event spaces and fleet depots. Up to four vehicles can plug in at a time. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2023-11-04/these-electric-vehicle-chargers-will-come-to-you

Jos Buttler has stressed his desire to remain captain in both white-ball formats after a Ben Stokes-inspired win over the Netherlands hauled England from the foot of the World Cup table. Raiding 108 from 78 balls, Stokes ensured a mid-innings wobble did not end with a repeat of some of the harrowing scenes witnessed during this failed title defence. England, up to seventh in the group thanks to an improved net run rate, have put hopes of a Champions Trophy berth for 2025 back in their own hands at least. Jos Buttler’s itinerary reveals what is wrong with England – and cricket Read more Rob Key, England’s director of men’s cricket, is set to join the touring party in Kolkata before Saturday’s final fixture against Pakistan and establish what has gone so badly wrong. With two squads to be selected for the ODI and T20 tour of the Caribbean next month, Buttler says he is keen to lead a potential reboot. “Yeah, I’d like to,” said Buttler, when asked whether he wanted to both play and captain the two limited-overs teams in their next assignment. “I know Rob Key arrives into India so, yeah, we can have some good conversations with him and the coach [Matthew Mott] and everyone and make a plan for that tour. But I’d like to.” On his side’s second win, which owed plenty to the sheer will of Stokes and a calm 51 from Chris Woakes, a relieved Buttler said: “Any time you need someone to stand up with the team under pressure, [Stokes] has had a history of always doing that. We’re very lucky to have him in the team and I thought his innings today was exceptional.” Key will still need to look Buttler in the eye and decide whether the strains of leadership are now compromising the batter. Having departed for just five in the 160-run win in Pune, Buttler now has one innings before the team’s flight home to improve a campaign that has returned 43 in the first outing against New Zealand and precious little since. Buttler said: “You want to lead from the front and do that in your own performance. So, yeah, I’m very frustrated, again, not to contribute. But I’ll stick to the stuff that’s served me well over a long period of time when I’ve had these little runs of form and hopefully come out the other side of it very soon.” While England will use their next tour as preparation for the T20 World Cup defence in the Caribbean and USA next year – a trophy Buttler lifted in Australia 12 months ago – the selection panel is likely to shake up the 50-over squad with fresh faces. One player who will not feature is Stokes. The 32-year-old is set to undergo surgery to address his longstanding knee problem after the squad’s return home in a bid to return to all-rounder status. After taking on Pakistan this weekend, leading the Test side for their five-match series in India early next year comes next. Asked if he considered bringing the operation forward and flying home once hopes of a semi-final berth were dashed, Stokes added: “No. don’t leave anyone hanging.” On his role in the win in Pune, Stokes continued: “I’m more pleased for us to get a victory over the line, it’s been a tough World Cup and nice to get back to winning ways today. Me and [Woakes] just built a partnership. I use the scoreboard as my friend a lot. Whenever pressure feels like it’s building or if it is, I just look up and you realise you’ve got more time than you think. Chris is a genuine all-rounder for us. He’s a very, very experienced cricketer.” https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2023/nov/08/buttler-keen-to-remain-england-white-ball-captain-despite-poor-world-cup

Let’s say you want to retire early, at age 55. Is $5 million enough to achieve your goal? While the cost of living varies from place to place, a nest egg this size would likely give more than enough money for decades of comfortable living. Even if you live another 50 years, $5 million in savings would allow you to live on $100,000 per year. Here are four things to keep in mind as you plan for a $5 million retirement at age 55. A financial advisor can help you manage your assets and plan for retirement. Find an advisor today. Is $5 Million Enough To Retire Early? When it comes to retirement planning, the all-important question is “how much?” How much money will you need per year to live comfortably? How much can you plan on your retirement fund to grow during your golden years? How much, in total, is enough? While the answers to these questions will likely depend on your lifestyle and standard of living, one rule of thumb is that you should shoot to have eight times your annual income in savings by the time you retire. So if you make the national median income of $70,700 per year, you should plan to have around $570,000 in retirement savings before you stop working. Now, the eight-times rule of thumb is based on a retirement age of 65. Either way, though, this would make $5 million a very comfortable retirement nest egg for most households. Even if you retire at 55 and you generate no returns on your money going forward, you could still withdraw $100,000 per year for decades. can be an effective strategy in retirement because it allows you to withdraw the interest that an investment portfolio generates without ever touching your core principal. On the other hand, it can take a lot of money to generate meaningful income. Fortunately, $5 million is indeed a lot of money. In early 2023, a five-year Treasury note paid an annual 3.5% coupon rate. Even if you poured all of your money into these safe and conservative assets, you would still generate $175,000 per year in active income. That’s enough for most people to live on without having to even consider a burn rate on their retirement fund. With a significant retirement account, look at investing in income assets like bonds and dividend stocks. This is a way to potentially stretch your retirement savings as far as possible. If you’re ready to be matched with local advisors that can help you achieve your financial goals, get started now. Plan For Healthcare Costs Social Security will be a nice bonus to your retirement savings, although the odds are with $5 million in the bank you will not depend on it. Medicare, on the other hand, can play a meaningful role in your retirement plan. As you age, healthcare costs will be an increasingly important part of your budget. After you turn 65, you become eligible for Medicare, which will pick up a lot of these costs. Until then, make sure you budget for health insurance and associated costs. Unfortunately, healthcare will be a significant and growing part of your life. Don’t forget to plan for it, especially if you want to retire early. Remember that your retirement income needs will depend a lot on your expenses. For example, someone who has paid off the mortgage on their house will probably need less in savings than someone who pays rent. This means it’s important to make sure you account for any major expenses. For example, do you have any dependents to care for? Do you have fixed costs or major investments and properties? The eldest daughter of former President Donald Trump became the fourth member of the family to take the stand in a civil fraud lawsuit brought by New York's attorney general, who has accused Mr Trump of inflating his net worth to obtain favourable loans from banks. The approach of the three Trumps before her, Mr Trump and two of his sons, Donald Jr and Eric, ranged from bombastic to humorous to visibly agitated. But Ms Trump, who unlike them is not a co-defendant, had a different persona on the stand. The 42-year-old maintained a placid, tightly controlled demeanour even as the tempers of the lawyers and Judge Arthur Engoron began to flare. Unfailingly polite, she smiled brightly at the judge and other court officials, answering questions in a quiet and sometimes monotone voice. This was a "sharp contrast" to that of her father earlier this week, said University of Richmond law professor Cal Tobias. "She's not jousting with Judge Engoron or the attorney general's counsel, not making political statements, and is respectfully addressing the judge." While her style may have been different, there was one element of Ms Trump's testimony that overlapped with that of her brothers: she did not seem to remember much about the issues at hand. For each question from prosecutor Lou Solomon aimed at whether Ms Trump had knowledge of her father's financial statements at the heart of this case, she replied mostly with a variation of "I don't know" and "I don't remember". "Did you have any roles in preparing Donald J Trump's statements of financial condition?" Mr Solomon asked. "Not that I'm aware of," Ms Trump replied. "Did you ever review any of Donald J Trump's statements of financial condition before they were finalised?" the prosecutor asked. "I don't recall," she said. The strategy is common in business cases, where executives can argue that they handle a wide variety of issues and interact with many people daily, as well as put their name to a range of documents, said Eric Chaffee, an expert on white collar crime and a professor at Case Western Reserve University in Ohio. "I think that the use of this defence is significant," Mr Chaffee said. "It probably is a smart thing to do, legally," he added, as Ms Trump's repeated assertion of not recalling instances and documents could "end up being truthful", while at the same time helping protect both her reputation and help the defendants. And Ms Trump's approach is further helped by timing. Many of those instances and documents referred to in court were from ten or more years ago, meaning her lack of recall is entirely plausible. At one point early in the questioning, she joked that she could not remember a call because it happened more than 12 years ago when she was nine months pregnant with her first child. Experts told the BBC the net effect of Ms Trump's testimony on the trial as a whole is likely to be negligible. Ty Cobb, a lawyer who represented Mr Trump early in his presidency but has since spoken out against him, told the BBC he thought Ms Trump would have "zero impact" on the ultimate outcome. "Her testimony has added not a single fact, as far as I can tell, other than she received one call while she was nine months pregnant," he said. Ivanka Trump testifies she can't recall loan details Ivanka Trump is pulled back into her father's orbit The glitzy New York buildings that Trump could lose If anything, Mr Cobb said, her appearance on the stand - something she fought hard to avoid - may hurt the prosecution in the court of public opinion. "I think it's a little bit of a dangerous decision by the attorney general, in the sense that it plays into the Trump theme of: this is just a political witch hunt," Mr Cobb said. "Her being forced to testify, given the absence of any seemingly relevant testimony, sadly feeds into Mr Trump's fantasies," he said. Ms Trump was the final person called to the stand by the attorney general's office. Next, the defence will be able to call their own witnesses. Mr Trump, the frontrunner for the Republican presidential nomination, has already been found liable for fraud along with his two sons. All have denied wrongdoing. This trial will decide the penalties the defendants will face. New York Attorney General Letitia James, whose office filed the lawsuit, is seeking $250m (£204m) in fines and severe restrictions on how the Trump business operates in New York. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-67363774

can’t be missed at Formnext—quite literally. It’s large robotic platform Heron AM is on display along with a series of new hardware, software and automation releases. On the hardware front, Caracol has unveiled the new High Versatility (HV) extruder, rounding its current offering out to three extruders. On the software front, the company has introduced an expanded version of its Eidos Manufacturing Software Suite, with the new Eidos-IoT module for remote smart monitoring. For enhanced automation, the company is launching a new control cabinet that can manage several extruders in a single system. Hardware launch Let’s first look at the new extruder for its large Heron AM platform. The High Versatility extruder was designed with flexibility in mind, and is suitable for a range of applications using a single tool, including mid-sized tools, jigs and fixtures; marine super structures; architectural panels; and furniture components. Caracol says the new end-effector delivers precision, performance and speed for a range of thermoplastic pellets, including advanced composite materials. The HV extruder is the company’s third, following the compact High Accuracy (HA) extruder and the robust, high-throughput High Flow (HF) extruder. Next up is Caracol newest software module. Eidos-IoT expands its existing Eidos Manufacturing Software Suite to include remote smart monitoring capabilities. The new software module consists of a range of features, like condition monitoring, process monitoring, digital twin, predictive maintenance, cloud data logging and analyses of the machine, printed part and working environment. Eidos-IoT enhances existing software modules like Parameters & Path Planning and Human Machine Interface (HMI) to ensure smooth and reliable production. Automation launch In addition to its new extruder and software module, Caracol has also introduced a new control cabinet for its modular Heron AM platform. This solution is capable of managing multiple end-effectors (specifically the HV and HF extruders) in a single system. This gives users a centralized control unit for the LFAM system that will enable them to enhance manufacturing flexibility and their investment on a single platform. You can find Caracol at booth C59, Hall 12.1 for the duration of Formnext. There, the Heron AM will be printing live using advanced materials from Airtech Advanced Materials Group. A series of sample prints from the rail, automotive, marine, furniture and aviation segments will also be on display. https://www.voxelmatters.com/caracol-launches-new-extruder-software-module-and-more-at-formnext-2023/

The largest hardware and software companies in the world are investing heavily in edge computing as millions of new devices came online in 2023 and more compute power was needed to handle the influx of artificial intelligence technology. Companies that are being honored on CRN’s 2023 50 Hottest Edge Hardware, Software and Services list are edge market leaders paving the way for innovation and growth that customers are demanding. This includes server and chip giants like Dell Technologies, Nvidia and Hewlett Packard Enterprise, software leaders Microsoft and Citrix, as well as edge computing specialists such as EdgeConneX and Adapdix that are driving optimization and custom offerings in the market. Edge computing is a critical component for many businesses’ digital transformation goals, with the technology helping customers drive efficiency and effectiveness, accelerate deployments and avoid sprawl. IT research firm Gartner expects that over 50 percent of enterprise-managed data will be created and processed outside the data center or cloud by 2025. Interestingly, the edge computing market will also complement cloud computing for nearly every enterprise by 2025, according to a Gartner report. Customers now require a more agile and real-time front office where customers, employees and assets interact with each other and the enterprise, which is spurring edge computing sales. As seen with some launches by Amazon Web Services and other cloud leaders, edge computing and the Internet of Things is top of mind for many cloud computing companies, which enabled many companies to be honored on CRN’s list. As part of CRN’s 2023 Edge Computing 100, here are the 50 edge computing software, hardware and services companies that are leading the market this year with no plans on slowing down in 2024. https://www.crn.com/news/software/the-50-hottest-edge-hardware-software-and-services-companies-2023-edge-computing-100

In the .biz realm, we often find ourselves wrapped up in the investments, deals and stats of the gaming world (and rightly so), but it’s also important to highlight the games themselves - the fruits of the labour that can only appear after years of research, funding and, of course, development. So here are the most exciting new mobile games right now, the developers and publishers behind them, and why, exactly, they've made the cut. Connecting history with sci-fi, Reverse: 1999 is a Chinese gacha game and the debut title from Bluepoch, combining match3, RPG and strategy genres. Its card-based play represents characters’ moves, with most characters themselves being summoned by gacha from across the 20th Century. Players build unique teams of four based on their summoned time travellers, resulting in a huge stack of potential card combinations. Merge mechanics often prove themselves a key ingredient in mobile success, and they’re present in Reverse:1999 in the form of matching cards to form more powerful attacks. As Bluepoch’s first game, Reverse: 1999’s strong launch has been especially impressive considering it has no well-established IP to carry it. Even so, more than one million people pre-registered in anticipation of launch, and in the US, UK and Japan, the title has topped the Play Store’s free RPG rankings every day since launch (October 26 - November 2). Being a Chinese company, Bluepoch first launched Reverse: 1999 in China this May, featuring full voice acting. Five months later the global launch has released with numerous dubs available and a story full of 20th Century references from the music scene to politics - from Louis Armstrong to the Stasi. This latest title from 4399 Games has officially launched on the Apple App Store, Play Store and AppGallery, powered by brand ambassador Benedict Cumberbatch. The actor takes on the role of a time traveller from the future who crosses paths with Vikings, ancient Chinese dynasties and more. 4399 has spent three years developing Era of Conquest and the continent of Terra. It sees players summoning legendary heroes from across history "in the pursuit of majesty", King Arthur and Qin Shi Huang included. Era of Conquest marks 4399’s fifth mobile game, following in the footsteps of MMORPGs Crasher: Origin, Raider: Origin and Pasha Fencer. All in all, it features nine major civilisations and as many as 6,000 players battling each other at a time. (Two Chinese time travel games in one week? What are the odds…) Mateusz Narolewski’s Impulse9 studio has released its second mobile game Cat Sandbox on iOS and Android, continuing a push into the po[CENSORED]r puzzle genre, this time with adorable pixel graphics. As the name implies, Cat Sandbox is all about felines, tasking players with guiding their cats through physics-based puzzles using mines and bombs to forge a path. Impulse9’s new game may be another puzzle game, but the dev’s changed up its monetisation strategy the second time round. While Black Side is a free game monetised through ads, Cat Sandbox requires a one-off payment to play, £0.99 on the Apple App Store and £0.89 on the Play Store. The puzzle genre has generated a massive $42 billion to date, and combining that with the internet’s love of cats, Cat Sandbox certainly has the right recipe for success. YKj’s Android exclusive Last True Sword has brought new 2D action to the Play Store, giving players a narrative-driven story with pixelated platforming to enjoy. The samurai aesthetic goes hand-in-hand with a sword-based game and gives players the chance to duel in one-on-one combat. With five game modes total, gamers can also take on an infinite horde of foes in Eclipse mode, leap through endless obstacles in a limitless runner mode, and more. Last True Sword marks YKj’s first slice at a mobile game after publishing two apps, Fictionist and Psychology: Who are you? With games taking the lion’s share of mobile revenue, the move is sure to be a wise one. After all, in the first half of 2023, mobile games generated a total $40.9 billion, almost doubling the $26.6 billion earned by all other apps. Rounding off this week’s list is Lovebrush Chronicles from NetEase and Exceptional Global, featuring a stellar Japanese voice cast and exquisite anime aesthetics. The game’s a narrative romance title giving players the power of choice: who they craft a love story with is their decision alone. The tale varies depending on player choices with multiple narratives available, and romances blossom through dating, campus activities and more. To spice things up, Lovebrush Chronicles is set within a multiverse, combining romance with action, travels between worlds and parallel universes to explore. In 2021, anime games made up 20% of all app store spending with Japan naturally being the largest audience. Lovebrush Chronicles has launched on iOS and Android after a pre-registration period lasting since August. Players who get on board early are receiving a load of rewards as thanks. https://www.pocketgamer.biz/feature/82786/new-release-roundup-the-best-new-mobile-games-from-time-travelling-brits-to-cat-rescuers/
