  2. Apple is planning on launching refreshed versions of the iPad Air and iPad Pro in 2024, according to TF Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. In a new Medium blog post, Kuo claims that Apple will release a new 12.9-inch iPad Air model for the first time, alongside the regular 10.9-inch model. The upgraded iPad Pro models will feature the company's new M3 chip and sport OLED displays, according to the analyst. Apple could also launch new iPad mini and 11th generation iPad models next year. According to Kuo, Apple is planning to launch a 10.9-inch iPad Air model in the first quarter of 2024, that will be accompanied by a new 12.9-inch model. It will be equipped with the same Liquid Retina display as the smaller iPad Air, but will offer better performance thanks to an oxide backplane (the combination of the thin film transistor (TFT) and the substrate used for the display) that is also used on Apple's current-generation iPad Pro models with Mini-LED displays. The analyst states that Apple will also launch two new iPad Pro models that will ditch Mini-LED displays for OLED screens, between the first and second quarters of 2024. These models are expected to sport a new form factor and will be powered by Apple's latest M3 chip — offering better display quality and power efficiency compared to existing iPad Pro models. A market research firm recently predicted that the larger iPad Pro model will sport a slightly larger 13-inch display. Why CERT-in Is Warning iPhone, iPad Owners to Update These Older Devices Kuo predicts that Apple will ship around 6 to 8 million iPad Pro models in 2024, attributing the prediction for lower shipments to a possible price hike due to the addition of OLED screens. Meanwhile, the larger iPad Pro model could also face competition from the company's purported 12.9-inch iPad Air model. In the second half of 2024, Apple could launch a new iPad mini model, while the company is also expected to launch a refreshed 11th generation iPad, while production of the 9th Gen model — the last one to feature a Lightning port — will be finally phased out by the end of the year, according to Kuo. 3. New York-based venture capital (VC) firm Interplay has reportedly closed its third fund, raising $45 million in capital commitments. The firm specializes in investing at the Series A stage and focuses primarily on software companies, including B2B marketplaces and vertical software, TechCrunch reported Monday (Nov. 13). This new fund further strengthens Interplay’s position in the market, bringing its total assets under management to $150 million, according to the report. The firm plans to invest in 20 companies with this fund, providing capital injections ranging from $1 million to $2 million per check, while also reserving additional funds for follow-on deals. One of the key factors that sets Interplay apart is its consistent team of general partners, including founder and Managing Partner Mark Peter Davis, Kevin Tung and Mike Rogers, the report said. These partners have been investing together for over eight years and 50 deals. Interplay also distinguishes itself by offering significant value to its portfolio companies, per the report. The firm’s studio enables it to incubate and start companies, expanding its reach and creating a strong deal flow. Davis believes that the marketplace industry is undergoing a major shift toward specialization, with new companies offering tailored solutions for specific industries, according to the report. Despite the challenges of fundraising in the current market, Interplay managed to secure commitments from institutional funds, fund of funds, family offices and founders within its portfolio, the report said. Interplay remains disciplined in its deployment of capital, passing on opportunities that reflect over-excitement in the market, per the report. Instead, the firm focuses on companies with healthy and fair valuations. Davis believes that the current market presents attractive investment opportunities, as valuations have come back down to reasonable levels. It was reported Sunday (Nov. 12) that venture capitalists have curtailed their startup investments due to rising interest rates, leading to investors raising enough to buy out the startups that VC firms have rejected. In another recent development in the VC space, it was reported in October that JPMorgan Chase & Co., the largest bank in the United States, is aggressively positioning itself as the leading financial partner for startups, founders and venture-capital backers of tech companies in Silicon Valley. 4. Just ahead of the weekend, Asus co-CEO Samson Hu talked about his company’s plans to roll out the first AI PCs in 2024. The executive told attendees at the annual technology forum at National Cheng Kung University in Tainan, Taiwan, that AI PCs should carry a price premium over standard PCs. However, Hu was vague about what would differentiate an AI PC – hardware, software, or possibly a mix of both. Today Asus also released its 2023 Q3 financials, and the investor slide deck suggests it already has big plans for AI PCs over the coming months. We think that two major tech events are going to collide in 2024, and give birth to high-performance AI PCs. Microsoft has already started rolling out Copilot AI features for Windows users, and adding AI to several of its po[CENSORED]r applications. Meanwhile, early 2024 should see the first availability of Intel Meteor Lake systems, with a dedicated NPU tile as part of the processor – accelerating local AI processing. Let us also not forget AMD is expected to release desktop APUs with AI acceleration in January 2024, too. The Asus co-CEO told forum attendees that there are about 300 Windows developers working on AI apps that will benefit from local AI acceleration. This will be another important driver of sales of AI PCs, which are expected to initially be targeted at enterprises and content creators. https://www.tomshardware.com/news/asus-ai-pcs-coming-in-2024
  5. Pokémon Go made its debut in 2016, and is arguably the game that truly brought AR games into the limelight. Niantic’sgame lets players worldwide embark on their own Pokémon journeys, capturing the creatures in the real world through the use of augmented reality. Part of Pokémon Go’s success comes from the aptly named Pokémon Go Fest live events, which invite players worldwide to host cities for a weekend of Pokémon hunting. And not only do such events boost the games brand recognition and player's portfolio of Pokémon, they also have measurable beneficial effects to the locations in which they take place. Pokémon events have already had a demonstrable effect on real-world economies, with Statista reporting last year that the events contributed $309 million to host cities in 2022, and now Niantic is reporting that the company has exceeded this achievement in 2023, with a massive $323 million spent at local businesses in the host cities of New York, London, and Osaka, including $73.8 million in tax revenue. Participation is also up year-on-year, with over 194,000 players taking part in the events compared to 150,000 last year. Exploring New York Among the events was the Pokémon Go Fest event held in New York on the weekend of August 18, centred on Randall Island Park. Players spent a total of $140.1 million over the weekend, and generated $28.1 million in tax revenue, providing a sizable boost to local businesses. 74,000 tickets to the event were sold, with average spend of $783 per visitor. Over the course of the event, visitors walked an average of 18.6 miles, and a total of 35 million pokemon were caught - around 472 per person. “New York City is the world’s stage when it comes to live events,” said president and CEO of New York City Tourism + Conventions Fred Dixon. “The Niantic team proved to be great partners in our efforts to bring the Pokémon Go Fest to the five boroughs this past summer, and the results of the economic impact study speak for themselves. The event created an opportunity to showcase the city to players and fans from around the world, 21% of whom were first-time visitors. We look forward to welcoming them back to NYC again in the future.” “Randall’s Island Park Alliance was thrilled to have Pokémon Go make its inaugural appearance at our park this summer,” said Randall Island Park Alliance president Deborah Maher. “The overwhelming engagement and excitement of the attendees was wonderful to witness. We are grateful to the community and fans that made Pokémon GO Fest 2023 a success and hope to welcome them back in the future.” We listed Niantic as one of the top 50 mobile game makers of 2023. 6. A former appellate federal judge in New Jersey, she supported her brother but, as audio recordings revealed in 2019, she could be scathingly critical of him. Maryanne Trump Barry, a former federal judge who was an older sister of Donald J. Trump and served as both his protector and critic throughout their lives, has died. She was 86. She died at her home on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, according to three people familiar with the matter. Two of them said the police were called to the home early Monday morning. None of the people specified a cause, and all spoke on the condition of anonymity. A spokesman for Mr. Trump did not respond to a request for comment. Judge Barry had been on the federal bench in New Jersey, a position that Mr. Trump’s fixer, the lawyer Roy M. Cohn, was credited with helping her attain during President Ronald Reagan’s tenure in the 1980s. She retired in 2019 after she became the focus of a court investigation stemming from an investigation by The New York Times into the Trump family’s tax practices. Mr. Trump seemed to heed the words of few people as much as he did his eldest sister’s, according to confidants. But their relationship suffered a significant fissure in the final year of his presidency, when their niece Mary L. Trump, who was promoting a memoir about their family, released recordings of her aunt speaking harshly about the president. https://www.nytimes.com/2023/11/13/us/politics/maryanne-trump-barry-dead.html
  7. After years of campaigning by many animal welfare organizations, the announcement of a ban on live exports is a significant moment in the history of the animal welfare movement in the United Kingdom. The Animal Welfare (Livestock Exports) Bill will prevent the horrendous shipment of calves and other farmed animals for days or even weeks on unsuitable transport vessels that have seen dreadful accidents in the past with thousands of animals dying. Unweaned calves that were sent from the UK to Spain for fattening suffered from injury, stress, and exhaustion. Global animal welfare organization FOUR PAWS said that it would fortify its efforts to advocate in next year’s EU elections, where a revision of Animal Welfare legislation is more than overdue. “The last few years have seen too many fatal accidents with farmed animals being transported alive with countless documented infringements against existing legislation that are not prosecuted. The suffering the animals have to endure due to excessive temperatures in cargo, nonexistent veterinary care, and a constant shortage of water and feed is unimaginable,” said Corinna Reinisch, Program Lead Farm Animal Welfare at FOUR PAWS. “Therefore, this milestone announcement in the UK shines a light on the upcoming proposals for transport that the European Commission has announced for December of this year. Eventually, the EU Parliament and the Council of the EU have to take those proposals, which raise the significance of live animal transport forward in the upcoming EU elections in 2024,” continued Reinisch. “This strong signal shall be the door opener for an urgently needed improvement for billions of farmed animals that are transported outside the EU to third countries every year. FOUR PAWS keeps advocating for animal welfare worldwide.” Every year, millions of cows, pigs, birds, and sheep are exported from the EU to non-EU countries. This year alone, there have been several fatal accidents with animals being transported. After a three-month ordeal through the Mediterranean Sea, around 1,600 young bulls were killed in Spain after the transport ship Elbeik was not allowed to enter the Middle East due to feared bluetongue cases among the bulls on board. Almost 900 young bulls from the transport vessel Karim Allah experienced the same fate some weeks earlier, and only recently, 14 sheep died after the Phoenix III was stuck off the Italian coast due to bad weather conditions. https://worldanimalnews.com/king-charles-announces-ban-on-the-live-export-of-animals-for-slaughter-in-the-uk-in-the-kings-speech/
  8. Despite macroeconomic challenges, the auto industry is poised for growth thanks to strong customer demand, the shift to Electric Vehicles (EVs), government incentives, and improved supply chains. Amid this backdrop, it could be wise to keep an eye on fundamentally strong auto stocks General Motors Company (GM - Get Rating), Niu Technologies (NIU - Get Rating), and Li Auto Inc. 9. Daniil Medvedev swept past Andrey Rublev 6-4 6-2 at their ATP Finals clash in the Red Group, while Alexander Zverev overcame world number two Carlos Alcaraz 6-7(3) 6-3 6-4 on Monday.Russian friends Medvedev and Rublev were destined for another epic showdown after meeting in the Dubai Open final and U.S. Open quarter-finals, with world number three Medvedev winning both matches. However, Rublev, ranked fifth in the world, began to despair after losing the first set and failing to put up much of a fight in the second."I played great before the tournament and I managed to put it in the court now. I felt really good and was able to get the upper hand fast," said Medvedev of his winning start. "I like to played aggressive on my serve, but Rublev plays in such a style that he doesn't let me (have) any other option because I don't have the power of Alcaraz or (Stefanos) Tsitsipas on my forehand," he added. Earlier on Monday, Zverev came from a set down to beat a sluggish Alcaraz after two hours and 32 minutes in their opener. "My serve helped me a lot. Saving the break point in the first game of the second set helped me," Zverev said. "You don't want to go down a set and a break against the world number two, so I'm happy," The seventh-ranked German is making his sixth appearance at the event, having won the title in Turin in 2021 and London in 2018. Zverev, who missed last year's edition due to a right ankle injury suffered during his Roland Garros semi-final against Rafael Nadal, fell when he hit a forehand and hit his ankle. "I didn't twist my ankle. I slipped a little bit. There was a pain for a while and I don't think any damage was done. I hope not, we'll see when it calms down. It's nothing comparable to Paris." https://www.wionews.com/sports/medvedev-tops-rublev-zverev-overcomes-alcaraz-at-atp-finals-658218
  10. irst the bad news. Dementia rates in England and Wales are set to double by 2024, according to new research from University College London, which said poor lifestyle choices would drive the sharp rise. It comes as the decades-long quest to defeat Alzheimer’s disease – the most common form of dementia – took a big step forward earlier this year, as a second drug in six months was found to slow the condition. “After 20 years with no new Alzheimer’s drugs, we now have two potential new drugs in just twelve months – and for the first time, drugs that seem to slow the progression of disease,” said Dr Richard Oakley, associate director of research at Alzheimer’s Society. “This could be the beginning of the end of Alzheimer’s.”Good news indeed, but as ever prevention is better than a cure – and research suggests that there are many things we can do to reduce our dementia risk. In fact, a recent study following nearly 30,000 adults for more than a decade has pinpointed six lifestyle choices that can significantly reduce the risk of developing dementia. Academics at the National Center for Neurological Disorders in Beijing, China, followed adults over 60 with normal cognitive function for 10 years, and concluded that embracing six positive lifestyle choices – the more the better – can slow the rate of memory decline. Eating a healthy diet was found to have the strongest effect, and was defined as sticking to the recommended daily intake of at least seven out of 12 food groups, including fruits, vegetables, legumes and nuts. Cognitive activity such as playing cards, doing crosswords or reading at least twice a week was the second most impactful behaviour. Regular exercise was close behind, defined as 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise, or 75 minutes of vigorous intensity, every week. Socialising twice a week, by visiting friends and family or attending meetings, also made it onto the list, as did never having smoked or being an ex-smoker, and drinking no alcohol. Interestingly, the results held true even for participants who were identified as genetically susceptible to memory loss due to having a key Alzheimer’s risk gene (called AP0E4).They found that people with four to six healthy lifestyle habits were 90 per cent less likely to develop dementia than those who had zero or one. People with two to three were 30 per cent less likely. Dr Susan Mitchell, head of policy at Alzheimer’s Research UK, said: “While our genetics play an important part in the health of our brains as we age, this research found a link between healthy lifestyle and slower cognitive decline even in participants with a key risk gene. “Too few of us know that there are steps we can all take to reduce our chances of dementia in later life. Factors across our lifespan can influence the health of our brains so it’s never too early or too late to think about adopting healthy habits.” Main image: RDNE Stock project https://www.positive.news/lifestyle/how-to-reduce-dementia-risk/
  11. The Renew Europe group has today in Vienna adopted a statement expressing its hard-headedly support for Romania and Bulgaria to join the free-movement Schengen area without further delay. The group is calling on the Council to stop its unjustified blockage of the two countries Schengen accessions. The Austrian government’s continuous veto, without any plausible legal justification, not only discriminate Romanian and Bulgarian citizens and damage their business, but also diminishes the EU’s political credibility towards its citizens in these two countries in crucial times only months away from the European elections. Stéphane Séjourné, President of the Renew Europe group, today said: “Romania and Bulgaria have since long successfully completed the Schengen evaluation process, and met all the necessary conditions for the application of the Schengen acquis. There is no credible reason for Romanian and Bulgarian citizens and companies to be excluded from enjoying the free movement of the EU. The European Parliament, the European Commission, and an overwhelming majority of Member States have already made clear that Romania and Bulgaria have a rightful place in Schengen, and now the Council must too. We are calling on the Austrian government to lift its veto without any further delay and allow Romania and Bulgaria to join the Schengen area.” https://www.reneweuropegroup.eu/news/2023-09-06/romania-and-bulgaria-belongs-in-schengen

  17. ETSI is announcing the establishment of a new Software Development Group, called OpenCAPIF. OpenCAPIF is developing an open-source Common API Framework, as defined by 3GPP, allowing for secure and consistent exposure and use of APIsBeyond 3GPP APIs, OpenCAPIF can be leveraged for third-party APIs and will support other standardization activities by enabling PoCs, Plugtests, and API testing, in order to contribute feedback to standardization work. For instance, OpenCAPIF can support NFV deployments by enabling consistent API exposure by Network Functions, and it can also contribute to network automation scenarios in ZSM. Plus, at the edge, it can be used not only to expose MEC APIs but also to validate the mapping between ETSI MEC APIs and those defined for the Edge Computing Enabling Layer specified by 3GPP. SDG OpenCAPIF will collaborate with other ETSI software and open-source projects, such as Open Source MANO, TeraFlowSDN and OpenSlice, in order to share best practices and find synergies, joint activities, and opportunities for component reuse. The code developed by SDG OpenCAPIF will support specifications from 3GPP SA6 and SA3 Release 17, and it will seek to align and provide feedback for future releases. The newly-created ETSI group will enable developers to test their network applications using CAPIF to publish and consume APIs, reducing the friction and accelerating time-to-market for the deployment of these applications in 5G Networks. ETSI OpenCAPIF builds on code seeds developed by European Research. The OpenCAPIF community will find synergies and collaboration with external fora and open-source projects developing and exposing APIs such as TM Forum, GSMA, CAMARA, and LFE Sylva. For example, the code developed by SDG OpenCAPIF can be used as CAPIF Core Function (CCF), a cornerstone for the facilitation and testing of interactions among various functions and applications exposing and consuming APIs. This would be key to ensure alignment between the Linux Foundation and GSMA-backed CAMARA project and 3GPP Specifications. SDG OpenCAPIF will find collaboration and code reuse with CAMARA, in order to minimize code duplication and potential misalignments. “ETSI SDG OpenCAPIF represents a pivotal enabler that empowers network applications to seamlessly interface with 5G networks through APIs. It will significantly enhance service innovation and ecosystem diversity” says David Artuñedo, Telefónica, convenor of ETSI SDG OpenCAPIF. The founding members of the OpenCAPIF group include Fogus Innovations and Services, Keysight Technologies, Motorola Mobility, National Centre for Scientific Research Demokritos, Telefónica SA and University of Málaga. https://www.eenewseurope.com/en/etsi-new-software-development-group-for-common-api-framework/

SpaceX’s uncrewed Dragon resupply spacecraft, carrying about 6,500 pounds of cargo to the orbiting laboratory, launched on the company’s Falcon 9 rocket at 8:28 p.m. EST, Thursday, Nov. 9, from Launch Complex 39A at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The cargo spacecraft is scheduled to autonomously dock at the space station on Saturday, Nov. 11 at 5:21 a.m. and remain at the orbital outpost for about a month. Live coverage of the arrival will begin at 3:45 a.m. on the NASA+ streaming service via the web or the NASA app. Coverage also will air live on NASA Television, YouTube, and on the agency’s website. Learn how to stream NASA TV through a variety of platforms including social media. The SpaceX Dragon will deliver NASA’s ILLUMA-T (Integrated Laser Communications Relay Demonstration Low-Earth-Orbit User Modem and Amplifier Terminal), which aims to test high data rate laser communications from the space station to Earth via the agency’s LCRD (Laser Communications Relay Demonstration), as well as the agency’s AWE (Atmospheric Waves Experiment), which studies atmospheric gravity waves to understand the flow of energy through Earth’s upper atmosphere and space. The spacecraft will also deliver the following: Respiratory Health Research Gaucho Lung, sponsored by the International Space Station National Lab, studies how mucus lining the respiratory system affects the delivery of drugs carried in a small amount of injected liquid, known as a liquid plug. Conducting this research in microgravity makes it possible to isolate the factors involved, including capillary or wicking forces, mucus characteristics, and gravity. Understanding the role of these factors could inform the development and optimization of targeted respiratory treatments. Water Filtration Technology Aquamembrane-3, an investigation from ESA (European Space Agency), continues evaluation of replacing the multi-filtration beds used for water recovery on the space station with a type of membrane known as an Aquaporin Inside Membrane. These membranes incorporate proteins found in biological cells, known as aquaporins, to filter water faster while using less energy. Results could advance development of a complete and full-scale membrane-based water recovery system, improving water reclamation and reducing the amount of material that needs to be launched to the space station. This water filtration technology also could have applications in extreme environments on Earth, such as emergency settings, and decentralized water systems in remote locations. Additionally, the cargo spacecraft will deliver hardware to the orbital outpost including: replacement parts for the spacecraft atmosphere monitor, which checks the quality of the cabin atmosphere space tissue equivalent dosimeter, which collects data on radiation exposure and characterizes the space radiation environment Plant Habitat-06, which will evaluate the effects of spaceflight on plant defense responses using multiple genotypes of tomato combustion integrated rack and a fluid oxidizer management assembly calibration unit, which are used to maintain proper calibration and operation of the combustion experiment workstation’s gas system These are just a few of the hundreds of investigations currently being conducted aboard the orbiting laboratory in the areas of biology and biotechnology, physical sciences, and Earth and space science. Advances in these areas will help keep astronauts healthy during long-duration space travel and demonstrate technologies for future human and robotic exploration beyond low Earth orbit to the Moon and Mars through NASA’s Artemis program. 19. If you're just starting out in Baldur's Gate 3, you'll have noticed that it is massive in scope and, as such, things can get confusing fast—and that's without the D&D elements at play. There's a lot to get your head around, like how to swap out party members, whether or not you should kill an entire village and the pros and cons of saving a pesky little brain. In this guide, I'll talk you through basic how-to's and some easy-to-miss side quests, and give you a hand with deciding some major plot points in Baldur's Gate 3, so let's get started. Spoilers beware, obviously. https://www.pcgamer.com/baldurs-gate-3-guide/
  20. Two-time Green Party presidential nominee Jill Stein announced Thursday she plans to seek the party’s nomination for the White House in 2024. “The political system is broken. The two Wall Street parties are bought and paid for,” Stein said in a video posted on social media announcing her candidacy. “The Democrats have betrayed their promises for working people, youth and the climate again and again, while Republicans don’t even make such promises in the first place,” she said. https://edition.cnn.com/2023/11/09/politics/jill-stein-green-party-2024-election/index.html
  21. When Anna DeLaittre talks about animals, she simply lights up. She is a walking encyclopedia of animal facts and know-how, revealing in a single conversation some of the dog breeds that have webbed feet – otterhounds and retrievers – and the best diet for a hen to ensure her eggs have a strong shell. Anna’s home in Minnesota Lake, meanwhile, houses a veritable zoo of animals. Apart from roughly 40 hens, Anna and her father, Mark, care for two roosters, a goat named Coconut – who is expecting – a duck named Nibs, and Pepper the Siamese cat. Then, there are the DeLaittres’ three heelers: Lady, Charcoal and Tippy. Anna recently demonstrated the strong connection she has with her dogs at the 4-H State Dog Show, which was held at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds on Sept. 23 and Sept. 24. Her senior year performance at State was a success. Anna brought home red ribbons in Intermediate Agility, Agility Jumpers 1B and Beginner Obedience. She also collected a blue ribbon in Rally. Despite all the ribbons, Anna says, “I didn’t care what I placed – I just had fun with my dogs.” Mark agrees, adding, “If you’re not having fun, you shouldn’t be (at State). It’s all about the kids, and the connection.” This was actually Anna’s third trip to the 4-H State Dog Show. She qualified with Lady for the first time in 2019, and then, after taking time off during the pandemic, she returned to the competition last year and this fall. Anna’s route to State began with eight days of training with a professional trainer, followed by participation in the Faribault County Fair 4-H Dog Show. Participants who are named Grand or Reserve Champions at the county level, like Anna, then earn a slot in the 4-H State Dog Show. Showing a dog through 4-H involves several different components, each of which is designed to demonstrate different skills possessed by both dog and handler. Obedience, Anna explains, focuses on the dog’s ability to respond to commands. “You can’t touch (the dog),” she adds. “It’s more judged on what the dog knows.” Rally, meanwhile, is an event where signs are posted along a course. The handler and dog stop at each sign and perform the task it asks of them. Agility is a dynamic obstacle course including jumps, tunnels, weave poles and a teeter totter. Finally, Agility Jumpers involves a course made up exclusively of jumps and tunnels. “You turn a lot, so you have to have a good connection with your dog, and good body language,” Anna explains. She is set in that department. Anna’s dogs are quite literally family, as Charcoal and Tippy are both Lady’s descendents. Anna has been deeply involved in all three dogs’ lives – from birth, in the case of Charcoal and Tippy. Lady, the eldest of the three dogs, joined the DeLaittre family in 2017 when Mark bought her as a birthday gift for Anna. Later, Lady became a mother, and Anna helped birth and raise her puppies. “If you get dogs when they are puppies, you protect them,” Anna observes. “Then, they grow up, and they protect you.” Anna kept one of the puppies – Charcoal – and she is able to list the homes the other puppies found when they were old enough to leave Lady’s side. One puppy lives just down the street from Anna and Mark, for example, while another has found a happy home on a dairy farm. “We’re always in touch with our dogs,” she explains. Another litter produced Tippy, Anna’s third dog. Tippy is still quite young, but she made her debut at State this year in the Obedience category. “We expected to bomb,” Anna admits, “but she just blew us away.” Anna worked with Charcoal in the remaining three categories – Agility, Agility Jumpers and Rally – as Lady is retired from the 4-H Dog Show circuit. At home, Anna and her trio of dogs are inseparable. “They know exactly what time I’ll get home every day,” Anna says, adding that all three dogs, along with the chickens, duck, goat and cat, give her a warm welcome whenever she pulls into the driveway. However, following her graduation from Maple River High School this spring, Anna will be leaving her home in Minnesota Lake to pursue her dream of becoming a veterinary technician at Ridgewater College in Willmar. “It’s the oldest vet tech school in Minnesota,” she says. It seems a fitting career for an animal lover. When asked what she likes most about animals, Anna replies, “They’re not humans. They don’t judge you.” She adds, “That’s why I want to be a vet tech. I’ve always had a connection with animals.” https://www.faribaultcountyregister.com/news/local-news/2023/11/12/minnesota-lake-teen-shows-dogs-at-4-h-state/
