[politics]China reveals plan to end Ukraine conflict
-HuNTeR- posted a topic in Politics / Economics
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) sits opposite Xi Jinping, President of China, during talks at the State Guest House. © Michael Kappeler/Getty Images World powers should focus on restoring peace and stability in Ukraine rather than seeking “selfish gains,” Chinese President Xi Jinping said during a meeting with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Tuesday. The chancellor arrived in China on Sunday, accompanied by a large delegation of ministers and business executives. Meeting with Scholz at Beijing’s Diaoyutai State Guesthouse, Xi told the German leader that all parties should work together to restore peace in Ukraine as soon as possible. The Chinese leader also outlined four principles that he believes will prevent the conflict from escalating. “First, we should prioritize the upholding of peace and stability and refrain from seeking selfish gains,” Xi said, as quoted by the Xinhua news agency. The next step, according to Xi, would be to stop “adding fuel to the fire,” which would enable conditions for the restoration of peace. https://on.rt.com/crwi- 1 reply

Volkswagen has (finally) confirmed its ID.3 hatchback will get a range-topping ‘GTX’ version to serve as the all-electric sibling to the Golf GTI. Pencilled in to arrive later this year, two versions will be offered from launch. Things will be headlined by the GTX ‘Performance’ - and while very few details are known at this point aside from a rear-wheel drive layout, rumours are currently swirling around a 300bhp output. That would put it on par with the Golf GTI Clubsport 45. "Of course, an electric drive and a turbocharged petrol engine each have their unique character," said VW board member Kai Grunitz. "Yet the ID.3 GTX Performance and the Golf GTI Clubsport share the same fascinating lightness when they accelerate. With the ID.3 GTX, Volkswagen is transferring the almost 50-year tradition of its compact GT models into the world of electric mobility." The ID.3 GTX will boast some pretty noticeable styling changes over the standard car too, including distinctive light signatures, more aggressive diffusers and model-specific 20-inch 'Skagen' alloys. Oh, you also get a healthy serving of 'the fast one' badges to go with the more sculpted bodywork. Equally, the interior will adopt a set of leather sports seats while decorative red stitching - a hallmark of hot VW models in the past - will run throughout the cabin. The marque’s preference for minimalism continues, though, so most of the buttons are packed onto the steering wheel, while the remaining functions can be accessed through the 5.3-inch driver’s display or 10-inch infotainment screen. The ID.3 GTX is also expected to stray close to the £45,000 barrier when production does eventually begin - around £10,000 more than the standard car and £9,000 more than the 429bhp MG4 XPower. Which would you go for, folks?

er City made reality last spring. On Wednesday the challenge for the holders is to knock the Madridistas out again at the Etihad Stadium, and after the scintillating performance of a year ago there is no sense of inferiority. By the close of a seismic night at a jubilant Etihad Stadium Pep Guardiola’s team were 4-0 victors, 5-1 on aggregate, a step closer to the treble, and Carlo Ancelotti’s continental aristocrats were heading back to the Spanish capital shellshocked. This was some display against the 14-times record winners, who were billed by Bernardo Silva as the “kings of the competition” on the eve of the quarter-final second leg, the tie poised at 3-3 after last week’s blockbuster encounter. That was a contest of transitions, anathema to Guardiola’s wish for total control. Yet while he and Silva are aware of Madrid’s potency, the Portuguese points to the significance of the performance 11 months ago, in which he scored twice in the first 37 minutes. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2024/apr/16/manchester-city-are-holders-but-real-madrids-kings-must-still-be-dethroned?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_Other

After downloading the game and installing it on your phone for the game, you choose your favorite team and take a package with a large group of strong players. The company offers you for free to try this version. Also, what I liked about this version is that the company has put the Arabic commentary option as well, and you can download it in a size of approximately 400 megabytes. . EA has developed all the famous phases, whether phases that you try with real teams, and there is an online phase against real people, whether with real teams or your own team. As for the gameplay and the new things in this version, the game, unfortunately, has not changed, even if by a very simple thing. Literally the same game, with the same gameplay cameras, the same graphics and everything. EA has rushed this year to download its new game because it knows that there is nothing New only change the first list only. Where there are two ways, whether you download it from the Google Play Store by running the VPN application on the country of Canada, or you download it directly from an external link, I will leave you all the links below this video, the game after downloading it will not work for you unless you are running the VPN application in the background, and the game also comes It has a size of 120 megabytes and you download another 100 from within the game in order to run it. As for the iPhone, the game is not available now, and it is expected to be released in the coming weeks as well. The important thing is that you will find all the links to download the game below. You can download and try the game now on your Android phone. https://www.mg4a.com/2022/10/fifa-23-mobile-android-ios.html

As Coffee Stain Studios prepares for Satisfactory 1.0, PCGamesN speaks to the team about its switch to UE5 and being surprised by players. Satisfactory is a fantastic success story. From its early access launch in March 2019 to the announcement just two weeks ago that version 1.0 would be releasing in 2024, developer Coffee Stain Studios has continued to build an open-world sandbox game that’s truly special, carving out its own segment alongside the likes of Factorio, Minecraft, and Terraria as a casual-friendly building game with an immense sense of potential. With 5.5 million copies sold, an ‘overwhelmingly positive’ 97% Steam rating, and its full release set for later this year, PCGamesN speaks to community manager Snutt Treptow about what the future holds. Satisfactory update 8 marks the latest leap for one of the best sandbox games on PC, as the team continues working on its transition to Unreal Engine 5, and I take a tour around the team’s in-game demo factory to chat about how things are going. The latest update runs on UE5.2, although Treptow tells me the team is now internally working on 5.3, which he says “sets us up better for the future.” That’s exciting news for the potential growth of Satisfactory, although it’s come with some caveats. Chief among those is a bump to the minimum system requirements, which has left some players on older systems behind. Treptow says this was unfortunate, but the team decided it was “going to benefit more people by moving forward.” As a comparison point, he notes the factory reveal in the game’s first trailer, which he says “barely ran” at the time – “now that factory’s nothing, it’s tiny.” That technology leap allows for plenty more improvements, such as new level streaming, designed to be more streamlined rather than the previous method of loading and unloading large chunks at a time, which makes getting around much smoother. Unreal Engine 5’s Nanite technology gives the textures a welcome visual boost, and there’s even an option to turn on Lumen for advanced lighting, which the team describes as experimental. “We felt, let’s just add it to the game, it’s not going to break anything, but it might look weird in certain situations and we haven’t tuned the lighting for it and we’re not sure if we will,” Treptow explains. He’s a big fan, however. “It looks really nice… It’s hard to switch it off, once you’ve turned it on.” I’ve got to agree; I’d mostly been playing without it, but seeing it in action is certainly a worthwhile upgrade. Update eight’s big showpiece addition was the priority power switch, which lets you hook up various outputs in order of importance. In theory, this is designed to ensure you don’t run into any major issues in the case of a power shortage – you can, for example, ensure that your coal power plant is kept running in the event of a power outage, avoiding the need to kickstart its production once again. “This was something we were working on for a long time – I think it was supposed to come in update four,” Treptow says. Despite this long development time, once it actually arrived it didn’t take long for players to find other interesting ways to use it. One such example is setting up material transport networks using the switch, and then remotely activating a line to have its train bring resources to your current location. “I don’t know if we anticipated that,” Treptow tells me. He says seeing the way the community reacts to new additions is one of the most fun parts of development and being in early access, saying the team will often make something knowing, “we don’t fully grasp the full potential of what this can bring to the game.” Another po[CENSORED]r example of this are the hypertubes. These transport pipes are somewhat akin to those classic suction tubes, but they actually work by having you (or objects) blasted into them using fans. These are modeled in-game using physical force, Treptow notes, which quickly led players to stack multiple fans up for extra speed – and, ultimately, to create human cannons that allow you to reliably fire yourself huge distances across the map. “I wish we’d have thought of that,” Treptow laughs as we soar across the factory. “We have a huge backlog of ideas,” he muses, “We’ve worked on this game for almost eight years now.” One of the benefits of early access, he says, is watching the community respond to developments. “We get to confirm our ideas – or when modding creates something we were thinking of implementing, it confirms our belief that it was a good idea.” He pauses. “Or shows that it didn’t work in the way we thought it would, but it’s cool that there’s a mod for that and people have options to choose it.” Also recently introduced is the Satisfactory ‘advanced settings’ mode, which allows you to essentially switch a save into a full creative mode that allows you to turn off resource restrictions, make yourself invulnerable, and even give yourself materials at will. It’s probably not how most people will play, but Treptow says Coffee Stain is happy to find ways to make the game appealing to a wider audience – though they’re careful to determine when they want to align with community desires and when to put a foot down. Initially, the plan was for a very Minecraft-style insistence on placing every single block down by hand, encouraging the feeling of building it all yourself. Over time, the team has relented slightly, implementing drag-and-drop mass placement of cosmetic field pieces, and the creation of small-scale blueprints. “Rather than a copy-and-paste feature, it becomes a sort of minigame where it comes down to figuring out how to modularly build your factory.” Conversely, when faced with players asking for lights to be added, the team instead considered the root cause of the problem. “The problem wasn’t that we didn’t have lights, the problem was that the game was so dark and the lighting wasn’t good. So we wanted to solve the problem of tuning the lighting,” Treptow explains. “But then we also added lights because lights are cool.” They’re not looking to implement the likes of a logic system, however. Treptow says it’s something the team has spent time toying around with, but came to the conclusion that, “This doesn’t fit the vibe of the game that we’ve made, it’s a bit too complicated, and if we make it an optional thing, it’s not worth developing at the moment.” I ask how the team sees itself fitting alongside the likes of Factorio, which has recently embraced increasingly complex build tools. “I think the people who like Factorio are way into that type of game, and they want more of that complexity,” Treptow responds. “In our case, we’re more towards the casual side of things, where we need to figure out where we draw the line between what is too complex.” He says logic systems are “a good example of our different player groups – the different games shine in different aspects.” Our time running short, I ask what community builds have caught the team’s eye lately. Treptow points to a recent Ficsmas special (the game’s holiday event) from ‘BLAndrew575’ that built and, using the help of a mod, launched 100,000 firework rockets a minute. “It made the game run at three fps, but he did it. It’s amazing that people go to these lengths just to make these absurdly big factories that are not really playable, but they did it.” That’s no exaggeration either – in fact, three fps might be a bit of an overestimation. But that’s the beauty of Satisfactory’s most ambitious builders. You can watch the result in action below, with BLAndrew575 cackling at the chaos they’ve created. “This is so ridiculous – this is why I build these things. This is so over-the-top unnecessary and ridiculous, and I wouldn’t change a thing.” Source

Google has restricted access to the apps of international eSIM providers Airalo and Holafly for users in India for not complying with existing telecom policies in the country, according to a report. The blocking of the apps, that provide access to SIM cards that provide access to calling and data while traveling to various countries, was reportedly done in compliance with directions issued by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to both Google and Apple. The latter is yet to block downloads of both apps in the country. A Moneycontrol report citing unnamed sources states that Google has restricted downloads of Airalo and Holafly for users in India via the Google Play store, as both apps did not have the required No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the DoT to sell or rent international roaming SIM cards to users in the country. The DoT has reportedly directed Google and Apple to block downloads of the apps in India, as they lacked the requisite approvals to operate in the country According to the DoT's revised policy for the issue or renewal of NOCs for sale and rent of international roaming SIM cards or global calling cards for foreign operations in India that went into effect in January 2022, foreign operators must receive a NOC from the DoT in order to sell or rent international roaming SIM cards to customers in India. As per data available on the DoT's website, 22 providers were granted an NOC as of September 30, 2023. In order to receive an NOC from the DoT, providers must be registered as an Indian company and provide usage of the international cards outside India. They must also collect a copy of a user's passport with the visa, proof of identity, and proof of address. They must also provide security agencies with a detailed monthly report complete with details of the customers who have been provided with SIM cards, as per the policy. Gadgets 360 staff members were unable to download both Airalo and Holafly on an Android smartphone via the Google Play store, but the apps were still accessible via the App Store on iOS. A government source told Moneycontrol that discussions were ongoing with the iPhone maker in order to restrict access to both apps on the company's smartphones in the country, which means the apps could be blocked at a later stage. Gadgets 360 has reached out to Google, Apple, and the DoT for comment and will update this article with their responses. https://www.gadgets360.com/telecom/news/google-restricts-holafly-airalo-download-esim-apps-dot-policy-report-4806561#pfrom=topstory

Since Phison‘s release of its new E26 controller, more and more Gen5 SSDs are entering the market. A couple of months ago, MSI released its Spatium M570 PRO FROZR, a PCIe 5.0 NVMe M.2 SSD featuring Phison’s E26 controller paired with 3D TLC NAND flash chips. MSI has been teasing its Gen5 SSDs for many months, and they even showcased them at CES 2024 last month. Today, we are checking out the Spatium M570 Frozr Gen5 SSD with a 2TB capacity. Let’s find out how MSI’s Spatium M570 performs and how it stacks up against the competition. MSI Spatium M570 Frozr PCIe 5.0 NVMe M.2 2TB SSD Review MSI has upgraded its SSD lineup with the Spatium M570 Pro, a second-generation PCIe 5.0 NVMe SSD that follows the initial Spatium M570 series, known for its distinctive golden heatsink. The Spatium M570 offered sequential read and write speeds of up to 10,000MB/s. The latest M570 Pro, however, pushes the speed further, reaching up to 12,400 MB/s and 11,800 MB/s in sequential read and write, respectively. It offers a notable improvement over the first generation of Gen5 SSDs and enhances overall performance for users seeking faster data access and transfer rates. The Spatium M570 Frozr came in a small, compact box. You can see a photo of the SSD at the front, including the capacity and speed, and some additional information is printed on the back of the box. Nothing is fancy about it, but the SSD is cradled securely inside the box. Out of the box, the Spatium M570 is pre-assembled, meaning the SSD is already attached to the heatsink. I think MSI discourages users from disassembling or removing the heatsink from the SSD. There’s a chance that users may damage the SSD itself. That’s also the reason why I didn’t disassemble my M570 Pro. The heatsink of the SSD is quite tall, but it doesn’t have an active fan, unlike what MSI teased to us sometime mid-last year. The one with an active cooling fan is the M570 Frozr+, which can reach up to 14,000 MB/s and 12,000 MB/s in sequential read and write speeds, respectively. Unfortunately, that model isn’t out yet. Size-wise, the Spatium M570 Frozr’s heatsink is quite tall. It measures 94.80mm in length, 71.65mm in height, and 24.00mm in width. Although the heatsink is not that thick, unfortunately, MSI didn’t tilt or make an offset on the heatsink, unlike Gigabyte’s Aorus 12000 Gen5 SSD. As a result, if you have a large tower cooler, like the Noctua NH-U12A, there’s not enough room or clearance, and the Spatium M570 Pro’s heatsink will hit the CPU cooler. It would be best to use an AIO liquid cooler; otherwise, you may encounter some clearance issues. I didn’t dismantle my M570 Pro, but under the hood are the Phison PS5026-E26 controller, four Micron 232L 3D TLC NAND flash chips (two on each side of the PCB), and a 4GB SKhynix LPDDR4 DRAM for the 2TB capacity. As you can see from the photo above, MSI’s Spatium M570 Frozr is the tallest. Gigabyte’s Aorus Gen5 12000 SSD is in between, followed by Corsair’s MP700 Gen5 SSD. The Corsair MP700 is the smallest or more compact Gen5 SSD among the three. But it has an active cooling fan, and you must connect it to a SATA power. More in: Source.

Linux Mint always follows its Ubuntu base (LTS with long-term support) after some delay. Version 21.3 has just brought its system base up to the level of Ubuntu 22.04.3, i.e. the third update of the Ubuntu LTS version 22.04. While Ubuntu automatically installs such point releases as part of the update management, the extremely conservative Linux Mint interprets this as a version step that user must actively request, or you’ll otherwise remain with the previous minor version. Linux Mint also remains cautious when it comes to kernel updates: It does not follow Ubuntu’s step (22.04.3) to Linux kernel 6.2 and stays with version 21.3 of kernel 5.15 with long-term support. This can be changed at any time in the update management under “View – Kernel” but only by actively doing so. Linux Mint is conservative, but keeps up: The fact that the Wayland window protocol will sooner or later replace X11/Xorg is now also accepted here and in progress. The Cinnamon main edition now offers optional Wayland operation. Like Ubuntu LTS, Linux Mint will be provided with updates for five yaars. In the case of version 21.3, this means support until April 2027, as this is counted from the first release of Ubuntu 22.04 (April 2022). The support period applies to all three Mint editions. Yes – there are still two other flavors in addition to the Cinnamon edition: For the editions with Mate and XFCE, however, nothing changes at all on the desktop, because Mate remains at version 1.26 and XFCE at version 4.18. Only a few marginal changes to the accessories (Warpinator, Hypnotix) are also to be found there. Linux Mint 21.3: What’s new? Linux Mint 21.3 “Virginia” at a glance IDG Not very much. The modular Cinnamon Spices now have the additional item “Actions” in the “System settings” in addition to the previous categories “Applets” (for the system bar), “Desklets” (desktop gadgets), “Extensions” (Cinnamon effects) and “Themes” (visual themes). These are small additional functions for the Nemo file manager, which were previously located there as “Nemo actions” (such as calling up the system settings or restarting Cinnamon via the right-click desktop context menu). The new “actions” in the system center are therefore just a move to a more prominent location. A new optional source appears in the application package sources: The “Romeo” repository offers current, but possibly still unstable software packages that can be activated here – at your own risk. Extra package source for untested software: It is up to the user to allow this additional up-to-date software on the system. The “System settings – Screen” item shows the four options: “75%”, “100%”, “125%” and “150%” for “Screen scaling”, provided the feature is activated in the “Settings” tab. The reduction to 75 percent is new, but the entire function is carefully marked as “experimental”. Another small feature can be seen when right-clicking on a program link in the Cinnamon main menu: The entries now show the additional option “Properties.” This can be used to customize a program launcher, but it is also a quick and easy way to determine the program name. The Mint team also continues to cultivate its small hobbyhorses: The Hypnotix accessory is an accumulator of several thousand free IP-TV channels and now gets a new favorites collection for faster channel selection. The Warpinator is a hobby of Mint boss Lefèbvre: It allows encrypted peer-to-peer data exchange in the local network (without a server) and can now connect directly to the desired device by entering the IP address. Cinnamon in no hurry on the way to Wayland: The old X11 protocol (“Cinnamon default”) is expected to remain the standard for another two years. IDG However, the actual technical advancement of the main Cinnamon edition is clearly the entry into Wayland support. In typical Mint fashion, the option appears cautiously on the login screen as “Cinnamon on Wayland (Experimental)”. Nevertheless, the Wayland session appears largely stable, but still suffers from the typical small deficits (screenshots, clipboard actions, X11 forwarding, terminal tools such as xrandr, xprop). For Linux Mint, it is primarily about preparing Cinnamon for Wayland and proving this to its more progressive users. Unlike Ubuntu, Gnome or KDE, Linux Mint is not a driver of the more modern Wayland protocol: According to Lefèbvre, X11/Xorg will remain the standard under Mint in the complete 22 version (i.e. until 2026). Upgrades from 21.2 to version 21.3 The upgrade from the previous version “Victoria” is optional considering the slight feature improvements, but we recommend the action for one simple reason: Linux Mint upgrades cannot skip intermediate steps. Without version 21.3, you will not be able to upgrade to version 22 in the summer. As a rule, desktop users are best served by upgrading to all minor versions. You can update a running Mint 21.2 computer to version 21.3 “Virginia” with little effort. When you start the update manager, a message will say that there is a “new version of the update manager” – i.e. the tool you are currently using. You can install this version by clicking on the “Apply the update” button. The tool restarts automatically after the download to load the new version of the software. Then start the upgrade with “Edit – Update system to “Linux Mint 21.3 Virginia”. The process should only take a few minutes because the difference in packages between the original version and the first point release are not extensive. The new installation For new installations, Linux Mint 21.3 can be obtained as usual via the project page, which then links to the actual mirror servers (“Download mirrors”). The selection of the download server is irrelevant for the subsequent language localisation. Linux Mint still offers three different editions with the Cinnamon, Mate and XFCE desktops, with the Cinnamon edition being the clear favorite and the XFCE version possibly the best choice for older computers. During setup, all three editions use the familiar and unchanged Ubuntu installer Ubiquity. The option to encrypt the home folder when creating the first user is also still available (“Encrypt my personal folder”). ormer President Donald Trump’s unprecedented attacks on the judicial system are frequently tied to developments in his court cases, an NBC News analysis of his social media platform shows, and at times they've outnumbered his posts about his re-election bid. NBC News analyzed more than 14,000 Trump posts and reposts on Truth Social from April 2022 to Jan. 6, 2024, and found he often uses the platform as a megaphone to attack people and agencies involved in his numerous legal cases. For most of the first half of 2023, a larger share of Trump’s posts were dedicated to his legal issues than his presidential campaign, the review found. The posts generally portray Trump as the victim of a Democratic scheme designed to derail his presidential bid, with an array of judges and prosecutors working against him at the behest of President Joe Biden, and all part of a partisan "witch hunt," a term he used about 250 times during that time period. The attacks on the court system have come as Trump finds himself in dire legal jeopardy. He is facing up to four criminal trials, a multimillion-dollar defamation case and a civil verdict all in the next 12 months. The results of those trials could potentially devastate his business, maim his re-election hopes and cost him his freedom. He's denied any wrongdoing and has criticized the prosecutors, plaintiffs and almost all of the judges involved, and his attacks have often led to threats and vitriol from his supporters. The former president in recent months has been lashing out online and at political rallies with increasing frequency against judges and prosecutors in New York and Washington, while also taking potshots at judges in Colorado and even the heavily conservative U.S. Supreme Court. “These vicious attacks on the judiciary and the federal court and even on individual judges are unprecedented in American history by anyone, let alone a president of the United States. They represent a grave threat to the judiciary and the independence of the courts,” said J. Michael Luttig, a retired federal appeals court judge. “The purpose and intended effect of the former president’s attacks on the courts is to delegitimize them in the eyes of the American public. His attacks are having their intended effect,” Luttig said. A spokesman for Trump’s campaign did not return multiple requests for comment. Attacks on prosecutors According to the NBC News review, the biggest target of Trump’s Truth Social attacks has been special counsel Jack Smith, whose office is prosecuting the federal election case and a second criminal case in Florida alleging Trump mishandled and tried to hide sensitive national security documents after he left the White House. Trump has posted about Smith — calling him “deranged,” a “nut job” and a “thug” — over 175 times. James, the New York AG, has been singled out close to 100 times. He’s posted about Alvin Bragg, the Manhattan DA, almost 70 times, and over two dozen times about Fulton County DA Fani Willis, who brought racketeering charges against Trump for allegedly trying to overturn the result of Georgia’s 2020 election. He’s repeatedly referred to the two DAs, who are Black, as “racist.” Both also reported receiving a large number of threats from Trump supporters. The frequency of Trump’s attacks on judges and prosecutors on Truth Social increases near key dates in the cases. Those posts made up roughly 37% of his social media feed when he was deposed by James’ office, had his mug shot taken in Georgia, and was fighting the partial gag order in New York, the NBC News review found. He posts on average of 20-40 times a day. Arguing in support of a gag order limiting Trump’s ability to lash out at prosecutors and witnesses in his federal election interference trial, Smith’s lawyer said in November that the special counsel had experienced “multiple threats” and “intimidating communication” as a result of Trump’s attacks. Smith was also the target of an attempted “swatting” on Christmas Day, two law enforcement sources said. NBC News legal analyst Barbara McQuade, a former U.S. attorney, said Trump’s repeated attacks on judges and prosecutors pose two dangers. “First, Trump‘s false baseless claims of an unfair process could taint the jury pool and result in a hung jury if even one juror falls for his lies,” she said. “Second, and perhaps, even more concerning, his constant drumbeat, targeting prosecutors and judges, could result in political violence against them or their families.” Civil fraud case To date, the main target of Trump’s campaign against the judiciary has been Arthur Engoron, the New York state judge who’s been presiding over the $250 million civil fraud case brought against Trump and his company by state Attorney General Letitia James’ office. An NBC News review of Trump’s social media platform shows he has blasted Engoron by name on the site over 70 times, a number that rose sharply after the trial began in October. In various Truth Social posts over the past two months, Trump has said that Engoron is a “highly political and disrespectful” “tyrannical and unhinged” “Trump Hating Radical Left Judge, who may be crazy." The vitriol was often tied to various developments in the trial, including opening statements and Engoron's imposition of a gag order against the former president. That order did not bar Trump from badmouthing the judge — it directed that he stop making comments about the judge’s law clerk and other court staff. Trump has taken full advantage of the exception — posting pictures and criticism of the judge and even bashing Engoron’s “Trump hating wife,” whom he falsely accused of having posted memes making fun of him. He’s also ripped the judge at rallies, in remarks to reporters and even while testifying at the trial, where he called Engoron a “very hostile judge” while he was on the witness stand. A state courts official said in a November court filing that Trump’s frequent shots had led to a “deluge” of credible threats against the judge, his family and his staff. Trump’s attorneys countered in a separate court filing arguing against the gag order that their client was not to blame for the actions of “third parties.” Trump’s bashing of Engoron ramped up in recent days as the closing arguments in the case drew nearer, including one Monday in which he suggested that the judge was a puppet of the AG — who's now seeking a $370 million judgment against Trump. Hours before the closing arguments began on Thursday, police responded to a bomb threat at Engoron's Long Island home. Defamation case Trump has also increased the frequency of his attacks on writer E. Jean Carroll, whose civil damages trial in her defamation case against him is scheduled to begin in federal court in New York on Jan. 16. Trump posted a barrage of over 50 posts involving Carroll on Jan. 4, including several that were old reposts from her own social media. In one, she described herself as a “massive” fan of Trump’s TV show “The Apprentice.” About 20 of the posts referred to the judge presiding over the case as “another Highly Partisan Clinton-Appointed Friend.” Trump previously claimed the judge, U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan, was biased. After a jury found Trump liable in a separate case last year for sexually abusing Carroll in a New York City department store in the 1990s and hit him with a $5 million verdict, Trump complained the judge “hated President Donald J. Trump more than is humanly possible.” “He is a terrible person,” Trump wrote. Criminal cases Other “haters,” according to the former president, are U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan and New York state Judge Juan Merchan. Chutkan is presiding over the federal election interference case against Trump in Washington, D.C., while Merchan is presiding over the Manhattan district attorney’s falsifying business records case against him. Chutkan appeared to be the target of a "swatting" attack over the weekend as police said they responded to false reports of a shooting at a house that a witness identified as hers. The incident occurred less than two days before an appeals court was set to hear arguments over a ruling of hers that went against Trump. Merchan and his family also received multiple threats after Trump bashed them as “Trump haters,” two sources familiar with the matter said. Trump has mentioned Chutkan by name 11 times on Truth Social and Merchan by name only once but has complained about them being partisan and biased in numerous other posts that did not name them. The post ripping Merchan's family came hours before Trump was arraigned in the Manhattan case in April of last year. One judge Trump has not attacked is U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon, the Trump judicial nominee who's overseeing the criminal case alleging he mishandled national secrets and tried to conceal his wrongdoing. However, last July, after the judge set an earlier-than-expected trial date of this May, Trump ramped up his attacks on Smith, who's prosecuting the case. Almost 40% of Trump's posts in that time period were attacks on Smith and the court system, the NBC review showed. Colorado ballot ruling Trump is also facing a legal issue that could derail his presidential bid — a Colorado Supreme Court ruling that he should be barred from the ballot there under the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. Trump said on Truth Social that the ruling “is being ridiculed and mocked all over the World." The ruling led to a flood of threats against the judges that the FBI is now investigating. That decision is being appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court, which has a 6-3 conservative majority, including three justices nominated by Trump. The high court has repeatedly ruled against Trump in cases involving his criminal probes and his bogus stolen election claims, and Trump has expressed concern it could do so again in order not to appear partisan. “All I want is fair. I fought really hard to get three very, very good people and they’re great people, very smart people. And I just hope that they’re going to be fair because you know, the other side plays the ref,” Trump said at a campaign rally in Sioux City, Iowa, over the weekend. Luttig said Trump’s “concerns” are just another part of the strategy designed to undercut the court. “In this instance, he is speaking directly to the conservative justices on the court,” Luttig said. Attack playbook Trump's attacks on judges who have issued rulings against his interests have been a part of his playbook since the 2016 presidential campaign. That's when he said U.S. District Judge Gonzalo Curiel couldn’t be impartial in a case against his failed Trump University because he was “Mexican” and one of Trump’s campaign promises was to build a wall along the Mexican border. Further, the judge, who is of Mexican descent and was born in Indiana, was a “Trump hater,” Trump contended. That's a label that's similar to the ones he has used to attack Engoron, Chutkan, Merchan, Kaplan, James, Willis and Smith, the review found. In addition to trying to foment distrust in the court system, the avalanche of attacks "is intended to intimidate the judges and the courts — federal and state — who will preside over his cases," Luttig said. Glenn Kirschner, a former federal prosecutor and current NBC News legal analyst, said the attacks are “a political strategy, not a legal strategy” and part of a “transparent” pattern of Trump trying to delegitimize any person or institution seeking to hold him to account. Kirschner said he's never seen anything like what "Trump is allowed to get away with by our institutions — that's the most disappointing part." https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/donald-trump/trump-trials-attacks-judges-rcna131916
