  1. Intel will be launching its 13th Gen Mobile CPUs this quarter and CPU-Z 2.03.1 is ready with support for the entire lineup. Intel 13th Gen Mobile CPU Lineup Now Supported Within The CPU-Z 2.03.1 Update The new update will cover the three 13th Gen mobile CPU variants, H, HK, and HX. Following is the full changelog for the new version of CPU-z: CPU-Z is a freeware that gathers information on some of the main devices of your system: Processor name and number, codename, process, package, cache levels. Mainboard and chipset. Memory type, size, timings, and module specifications (SPD). Real time measurement of each core's internal frequency, memory frequency. CPU-Z is often downloaded to find out which processor is installed in a computer, and to measure the CPU's operating frequency. β€” CPU-Z official website The list of included Intel 13th Gen Mobile CPUs for the CPU-Z 2.03.1 update is listed below. Core i9-13900HK Core i7 13700H/HX Core i5-13650HX Core i5-13620H Core i5-13500H/HX i5-13450HX Intel Core i5-13420H Celeron 7305 A few notable mentions about the above list are that the HX variants shown above could reveal that Intel is planning to upgrade the desktop HX (BGA) mobile series much sooner, and both i7-13700H and i5-13500H are now appearing in the SKU lists where they were once absent and not mentioned. Intel consumers can distinguish which processor they want to purchase with the company's new nomenclature. Gamers will want to look at the powerful HX-series processors or may consider the HK-series for the added unlocked boosting capabilities. 2. Lenovo has confirmed and leaked out two upcoming AMD Ryzen 7000 Non-X CPUs, the Ryzen 9 7900 & the Ryzen 7 7700. Lenovo Leaks AMD Ryzen 7000 Non-X CPUs Including Ryzen 9 7900 12-Core & Ryzen 7 7700 8-Core The AMD Ryzen 7000 Non-X CPU lineup is no mystery. We recently covered the alleged prices of three SKUs that will be making their way to the AM5 platform and it looks like Lenovo is further confirming through this leak that these chips are headed to OEM PCs & consumer desktops real soon. Lenovo has confirmed and leaked out two upcoming AMD Ryzen 7000 Non-X CPUs, the Ryzen 9 7900 & the Ryzen AMD has so far only introduced its "X" series SKUs in the Raphael "Zen 4" family. These parts aim towards enthusiasts and extreme gamers but like all generations that came before it, the Ryzen 7000 CPUs are bound to get Non-X parts. Although the company hasn't officially confirmed the release of any Non-X chips yet, we know that there are more chips coming to consumers soon in addition to the 3D V-Cache parts which are expected to be introduced at CES 2023. The AMD Ryzen 7000 Non-X 'Zen 4' CPUs will include a total of three variants. These include the Ryzen 9 7900, Ryzen 7 7700, and Ryzen 5 7600. The differences between these & the standard X chips are that these will feature a 65W TDP by default and slightly lower clock speeds. So let us begin with the specifications. AMD Ryzen 9 7900 - 12 Zen 4 Cores For Just $429 US The AMD Ryzen 9 7900 will feature 12 cores, 24 threads, and 76 MB of cache (64 MB L3 + 12 MB L3) and will feature a base clock of 3.6 GHz with a maximum clock speed of up to 5.4 GHz. The CPU will retail at $429 US which is a difference of $120 US versus the Ryzen 9 7900X. While the base clock remains to be seen, the boost clock sees a 200 MHz reduction but given the price point, this 12-core chip looks incredible & I can already see a lot of users upgrading to this sub-$500 US 12-Core Zen 4 chip. AMD Ryzen 7 7700 - 8 Core Gaming Champ Under $350 US Next up, we have the Ryzen 7 7700 which will feature 8 cores, 16 threads 40 MB of cache (32 MB L3 + 8 MB L3), and will feature a base clock of 3.6 GHz with a maximum clock speed of up to 5.3 GHz. The CPU will retail for $329 US which is a difference of $70 US versus the Ryzen 7 7700X which retails at $399 US. The Ryzen 7 7700 seems to be clocked just 100 MHz lower than the Ryzen 7 7700X which is impressive given its 65W power budget. The final TDP should fall around 90-100W given the 1.375x multiplier for the PPT. AMD Ryzen 5 7600 - Making AM5 Affordable For Entry-Level Builders Lastly, we have the AMD Ryzen 5 7600 which will feature 6 cores, 12 threads, 38 MB of cache (32 MB L3 + 6 MB L2) and will feature a maximum clock speed of up to 5.1 GHz. The CPU will hit retail at $229 US which is also $70 US lower than the Ryzen 5 7600X which retails at $299 US. The boost clock is 200 MHz lower than the 'X' chip. Based on the above: Ryzen 9 7900 12 Core- $120 US cheaper vs 7900X Ryzen 7 7700 8 Core- $70 US cheaper vs 7700X Ryzen 5 7600 6 Core - $70 US cheaper vs 7600X Overall, the chips sound like they will offer the best performance per dollar value on the AM5 platform and we will also be looking at cheaper A620 motherboards by the mid of 2023. https://wccftech.com/amd-ryzen-9-7900-12-core-ryzen-7-7700-8-core-zen-4-non-x-cpus-confirmed-by-lenovo/

  4. Despite the fact that it is not the time to file the income statement with the Dian, it is already possible to know whether or not they will be charged the withholding at source in 2023, which is the mechanism through which the entity collects the tax in advance. directly from your salary. (You can also read: Regional Tax: the reasons to make a reform in the departments) If it is taken into account that the accumulated variation of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for average income between October 1, 2021 and October 1, 2022 was 11.60 percent, it can be establish that the Tax Value Unit (UVT) that will govern for 2023 will go from the current 38,004 pesos to 42,412 pesos, that is, the adjustment will be 4,408 pesos. With this calculation, it is also possible to know from what monthly income the people who declare income would be subject to the next year's withholding tax collection for their salaries. According to that account, it will be applied from a tax base of 4,029,166 pesos and a monthly salary of 5,903,540, in the case of an employee who does not have additional discounts beyond health, pension and ARL. Now, if that person has a child, the salary may be higher. It will depend on each case. How is the calculation done? According to article 383 of the Tax Statute, the withholding at the source for labor income is based on a taxable base equivalent to or greater than 95 UVT, that is, 4,029,140 pesos for the year 2023 with the UVT of 42,412 pesos. In order to establish the tax base on which withholding is applied to workers, not only the salary as such must be taken into account, but also all the payments from the employment or legal and regulatory relationship received by the employee. Once the amount of the income of 5,903,540 pesos has been established, the values corresponding to the obligatory payment to the pension fund (4 percent), health (4 percent) and the Occupational Risk Administrator (ARL) must be subtracted. It is also important to note that workers can deduct some things. For example, payments made for interest on housing loans or prepaid medicine that have a limit of up to 16 UVT per month, which for the year 2022 would be 678,592 pesos. You can also deduct up to 32 UVT for having dependents, that is, 1,357,184 pesos with a UVT of 42,412 pesos for the next year. Voluntary contributions made by the worker to voluntary and mandatory pension funds are also not part of the basis for applying withholding at source and are exempt income. https://www.eltiempo.com/economia/finanzas-personales/retencion-en-la-fuente-a-partir-de-que-salario-aplica-en-el-2023-720923
  5. The Andean cat has adapted so well to its environment that it has become practically invisible to the human eye. Elusive. Reserved. Completely silent and, unlike other deadly hunters, really small: the Andean cat has been a headache for biologists studying the biosphere of the Andes. Due to the incredible ability to hide, and a coat that has exactly the same color as the stones on the summits, the locals know it as 'the Andean ghost'. Despite its unique camouflage ability, the Andean cat has forged an intimate relationship with the native peoples of the region. The Aymaras, for example, know it as 'titi'. For their part, the Quechuas refer to the species as 'chinchay'. The truth is that it is considered a sacred feline, which governs the Elqui Valley in Peru. Known by its scientific name, Leopardus jacobita, the Andean cat is distributed along the coldest peaks of the mountain range. Specifically, in Peru, Bolivia, Chile and Argentina. Its length varies between 75 and 85 centimeters, with up to 35 centimeters in height. It is distinguished from other feline species by its silver-colored fur, with discreet black and brown lines. In adulthood, this feline can weigh up to 7 kilos, no more than a domestic cat. What is truly impressive about the species is that it is rarely seenβ€”and not because there are few left in the wild, but because they are incredibly agile at hiding and hunting. As masters of camouflage, they coincide with other species of wild cats in the absolute stealth they have when moving. From sacred animal to endangered species Therefore, the Andean cat has been very difficult to study. In fact, explains the Behavioral Ecology of Mammals in a statement, "very few researchers have seen it face to face." Therefore, in the 2000s, a team of scientists from the National University of the South (Argentina) brought together more than 30 specialists to document it. Only in this way, the researchers said, could their extinction be avoided. Before the project was completed, the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) cataloged the Andean cat as part of its red list of animals in danger of extinction. To prevent the damage from growing, the researchers set up photo traps to record their diet and wild behavior. This is how the Alianza Gato Andino was founded. With these photographs and videos, they discovered that their main activity is at night, in the Patagonian steppe. Despite its symbolic, ritual and religious importance for native cultures, the Andean cat is threatened. "Their po[CENSORED]tions have low genetic diversity, which could be another conservation problem," says Mauro Lucherini, a researcher at the National Council for Scientific and Technical Research (Conicet). Currently, the Los Andes research group is fighting to preserve the species in nature reserves. The most important of them, where a large po[CENSORED]tion of wild cats is preserved, is the Sajama National Park, which extends through Bolivia and Chile. Only in these spaces, the researchers explain, can the species be analyzed in more detail, in order to guarantee its persistence in its native environment. https://www.ngenespanol.com/animales/gato-de-los-andes/
  6. Let’s deal with some numbers first, starting high: Β£87,650. That’s a huge sum of money for an Audi TT, even a hot one that is the last of its kind in a sports coupΓ© market that seems to have got a case of the dreaded shrinks. So let’s temper it with a lower number: 100. That’s how many of these Audi TT RS Iconic Editions will be built, with just 11 coming to the UK. There’s an even smaller number as well: 0. That’s how many remain on sale in the UK. Say what you will about Audi, but it knows its market intimately well. To me, nigh-on Β£90k for a TT is ridiculous money, but the Germans have sold every single one before people even had a drive in them. And unlike in the Audi R8 GT we also tested in November, the TT RS Iconic Edition doesn’t get any engineering special treatment. There’s no coilover suspension here, or trick rear diff, just a regular TT RS with a bit of added aero fairy dust. This stretches to additional flics on the front apron (plastic, not carbonfibre), a new front splitter and a new rear wing. It ups the aggression a bit, but not overly so and not to the detriment of the iconic TT shape. The wheels are also exclusive to this model, but only by a narrow margin. They’re the same shape and size (20in) as the regular RS’s but are gloss black on the Iconic. And that’s it for the exterior. Oh, wait, I almost forgot: there’s also an β€˜Iconic Edition’ sticker in the rear quarter light window. Inside, the seats get β€˜Iconic Edition’ embroidered in yellow stitching, a colour that is continued elsewhere and one that helps lift the Alcantara/leather mix a bit. It’s a nice touch and does add a bit more exclusivity to proceedings, as the rest of the interior is typically Audi - stylish, immaculately built but just a touch on the dark side. It also remains a 2+2 and that really is a rare thing these days. There’s a numbered plaque on the gear knob as well so you know exactly which Iconic Edition you’ve paid quite a lot of money for. Sorry, I’m in danger of being a bit glib about all this because, to be fair, any TT RS, even one as overpriced as this, is still a mighty all-season weapon. The Iconic has the same 2.5-litre five-cylinder turbocharged engine as the regular car so pushes out a not inconsequential 395bhp and 354lb ft. Back in the day when it was launched, those figures (aligned with the Quattro all-wheel drive) were enough to see off a Ferrari F430 and even the 997-generation Porsche 911 Turbo. Even in 2022, the power is still staggering. There are few cars more capable of monstering cross-country miles with ease despite whatever the weather throws at you. With the simplicity of the seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, it’s a doddle to point and squirt across any road. Plus, no one would ever get tired of that five-cylinder beat - loud enough to be interesting, quiet enough to be civilised. The various driving modes remain from the normal RS, so you can tweak things like the steering weight and gearshift but, as ever, Individual remains the one to pick with everything bar the suspension dialled up. This is not a particularly comfortable car, and in Sport, it’s downright bouncy. If only it breathed a bit more with the road, like its Porsche 718 Cayman GTS rival. Then it would feel a bit more delicate in your hands and a bit more nuanced, rather than the sledgehammer/nut thing that it currently does, admittedly with its typical confidence-inspiring Quattro. It’s fast and grippy, but a bit one-dimensional. We return, then, to one last number: Β£26,775. That’s the price difference between a normal TT RS and this. What price exclusivity, eh? Frankly, it’s a ridiculous sum of money for a TT, even one as rare as this, and if I’d bought one, I’d feel like I’d had my leg taken up. But then this is the last of the line, a dying breed of car with a brilliantly wonderful engine. What price posterity, eh? https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-review/audi/first-drives/audi-tt-rs-iconic-edition-2022-first-drive
  7. London Fire Brigade is "institutionally misogynist and racist", according to a damning review into its culture. A black firefighter had a noose put by his locker, while a female one received video of a colleague exposing himself. The independent review was established by the London Fire Commissioner after a trainee firefighter took his own life in August 2020. Commissioner Andy Roe said there was no place for discrimination, harassment and bullying in the brigade. "From today it will be completely clear to all staff what behaviour isn't acceptable and what the consequences will be," he added. 'Grim reading' The review, conducted by the former Chief Crown Prosecutor for north-west England, Nazir Afzal, concludes that unless the "toxic culture" is tackled then other firefighters will take their own lives. It lists a number of instances of abuse and poor behaviour at almost all levels of London Fire Brigade (LFB), including: Multiple cases of bullying "and the targeting of ethnic minorities and women" with some complaints not investigated Women "sexually taunted", including one who received video calls from a man exposing his genitalia Men "huddled around a screen watching porn" at some fire stations Talking to the BBC, Mr Afzal said the report made for "grim reading". "We've heard example after example about women who were harassed or sexually assaulted - constant sexual taunting to the point that I am now saying that the London Fire Brigade is institutionally misogynist," Mr Afzal said. "In addition to the misogyny, there is an enormous amount of racism. One black man had a noose put up above his locker, another Muslim officer had bacon rolled on his plate before he ate. "Women told us they were told [by male firefighters]: 'We want to get you out of here, we don't want you to be a fire officer.' It goes back to the whole fireman concept. "I sat with a very senior female officer who said to me, through tears, that whenever she goes through a dangerous incident, she's always thinking: 'Will the men have my back? Will the men around me protect me given how they have treated me back at the station? "If they feel they can't trust the men around them because of their behaviour or misbehaviour and worse, then they aren't safe and neither are we." The report also found that while there was often "considerable sensitivity" in the brigade around issues of race, there appeared to be "a worrying blind spot" concerning misogyny and sexism. One firefighter told the review that she advised her female friends not to let male firefighters in the house to give safety advice because "they go through women's drawers looking for underwear and sex toys". The review recommends firefighters now wear body-worn video for home visits. The behaviour of some brigade staff "left a clear trail of psychological harm", the report said. Mr Afzal said the racism, misogyny and bullying identified within the LFB was far more widespread. Speaking to the BBC Radio 4's Today programme, he said he was approached by other fire brigades and organisations as he undertook the review. "People telling me please, please come and have a look at my culture. "I ask anyone who's rushing to judgement on London Fire Brigade to look in the mirror and look at themselves because they will see similar things happening. "Their staff need the same support and protection that London Fire Brigade need to provide to theirs." The Fire Brigades Union (FBU) said in a statement the report confirmed concerns it had raised over many years. Gareth Cook, FBU's regional organiser for London, said morale and engagement at LFB was low. He said 40% said they were frustrated in their job with staff shortages, no leave availability and poor work-life balance. "The review has found that staff fear the consequences of speaking out as they fear the repercussions. That is entirely unacceptable and must change," he said. He added: "We have raised concerns about many of the issues contained within this report historically and as a consequence we remain sceptical about the changes senior leaders will implement with regards to their own behaviours." LFB Commissioner Mr Roe told BBC Radio 4's Today programme he was "horrified" and "heartbroken" to read the report. 'Change starts now' Asked if he agreed with the review's finding the organisation was institutionally misogynist and racist, he said: "I think when 2,000 of your staff have written that story you can't deny any of it. I accept the report in full, I accept all the recommendations. "There will be change and the change starts now." "From Monday we are putting externally into the hands of independent experts all of our complaint, harassment, bullying investigations," he added. Mr Roe said he hoped employees would have the confidence to raise concerns and the organisation would "take action against people who let the service down." Even seniority appears not to have insulated some women from abuse: former Commissioner Dany Cotton, who became the first woman to lead LFB, said she had received death threats following an anti-sexism campaign she was promoting. Despite a series of failings, the review found most participants thought their workplace was "supportive and friendly". It also found examples of "good leadership" including people who "went out of their way to build inclusive environments and operate a zero-tolerance policy around discrimination" but described it as "uneven and patchy" across the brigade. 'Watershed moment' Black, Asian and minority ethnic staff felt they "must work twice as hard to be seen and heard", the report said, adding that non-white staff were more likely to be disciplined and less likely to be promoted. In one instance a Muslim firefighter was spoken to in an Indian accent by his colleagues and had a piece of bacon put in his sandwich. When he transferred to another watch, his colleagues put a pork sausage in his pocket, the report said. He subsequently had a terrorism hotline sticker placed on his locker, but his complaints were dismissed. He eventually collapsed at work and was admitted to hospital, and has since been diagnosed with PTSD and has had suicidal thoughts. The Grenfell Tower fire was described as having a "seismic impact on the culture of LFB", particularly on the mental health of staff. North Kensington fire station, which is less than a mile from the tower, was "widely recognised as a supportive station with a strong and diverse culture". Mayor of London Sadiq Khan said the details of misogyny and racism were "abhorrent" and said the findings of Mr Afzal review "must be nothing short of a watershed moment for the London Fire Brigade." https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-london-63749444

  11. Something is rotten in the state of Revachol. This year has seen the gradual unfurling of a bitterly ironic real-world tale, one in which the creators of perhaps the best PC game ever(opens in new tab) have been cut out of the company(opens in new tab) they co-founded, Disco Elysium studio ZA/UM, and are now fighting for it in the courts. How did it get to this point? According to one side, the answer is simple: four concept sketches of a man in a scarf, the first glimpses of a Disco Elysium sequel, which were allegedly bought last year for just over €1 by a shell company controlled by a ZA/UM executive, and then immediately re-sold to ZA/UM for €4.8 million. The first set of players in this fight includes Robert Kurvitz and Aleksander Rostov, the key creatives behind Disco Elysium, and Kaur Kender, who acted as executive producer and marketing manager on the game. All are partners in Studio ZA/UM. On the other side are Ilmar Kompus, the director and largest shareholder of Studio ZA/UM, and TΓ΅nis Haavel. The Estonian Ekspress newspaper(opens in new tab) describes Haavel as a "smooth-talking ex-banker who was convicted of investment fraud in 2015 and received a seven-month suspended prison sentence." He was also an executive producer on Disco Elysium. https://www.pcgamer.com/the-legal-war-over-disco-elysium-reaches-disco-elysium-levels-of-complexity/
  12. Elon Musk said on Thursday that Twitter will provide a "general amnesty" to suspended accounts starting next week after running a poll on whether to do so for users who had not broken the law or engaged in egregious spam. In a poll Musk posted on Twitter on Wednesday, 72.4 percent of the more than 3.16 million users who took part voted in favour of bringing back those who had been suspended by the social media platform. "The people have spoken," Musk, who acquired Twitter last month, tweeted on Thursday. "Amnesty begins next week." Last week, Musk, the world's richest person, reinstated some previously suspended accounts, including former US President Donald Trump, satirical website Babylon Bee and comedian Kathy Griffin. He tweeted in October that Twitter would form a content moderation council "with widely diverse viewpoints." Musk said no major content decisions or account reinstatements would happen before the council convened. Change and chaos have marked the billionaire's first few weeks as Twitter's owner. He has fired top managers, including former Chief Executive Parag Agarwal, and it was announced that senior officials in charge of security and privacy had quit. Those resignations drew scrutiny from the US Federal Trade Commission, whose mandate includes protecting consumers and which said it was watching Twitter with "deep concern." On Thursday, Musk tweeted that Twitter users might notice small, sometimes major improvements in the platform's speed, which would be significant in countries far away from the US. Earlier this week, Reuters reported that a coalition of civil rights activists was urging Twitter's advertisers to issue statements about pulling their ads off the social media platform after its owner Elon Musk lifted the ban on tweets by former US President Donald Trump. Last week, Donald Trump said that he had no interest in returning to Twitter even as a slim majority voted in favor of reinstating the former US President, who was banned from the social media service for inciting violence, in a poll organized by new owner Elon Musk. https://www.gadgets360.com/social-networking/news/elon-musk-twitter-general-amnesty-suspended-accounts-poll-decision-donald-trump-3551847#pfrom=home-po[CENSORED]r
  13. Android 13 brought a lot of under-the-hood improvement, and while it surely was not a massive overhaul in terms of looks and design, it was still infinitely better than Android 12 in terms of functionality. One highlight of Android 13 was predictive back, a feature that would remind the users that they are exiting the app by giving visual feedback. Now, with Android 14 on the horizon, Google is working on the feature even further so it can work within the applications and even shows you the previous screen. Android 14 Should Make the Overall User Experience Even Better as Google Starts Working on the Upcoming OS The new Android 14 feature was announced during the Developer Summit's Platform Track. The company talked about a term they call "falling," or how the back gesture ends up in β€œpeople leaving the app by mistake,” which might seem like a harmless thing but in reality, it does affect the app usage statistics, which are very important for apps that earn revenue based on the amount of time user spends on the app. Google is pretty confident in how the gesture navigation works, but also mentioned some concerns that users have shown over the year about how easy it is for them to mistakenly switch to another app or to the home screen, in order to deal with that, Android 14 will deliver predictive back gesture. For those wondering, on Android 14, users will get a small preview of the home screen as they are swiping, and the app window is shrinking. On paper, it looks good, but the feature is already available if you want to try it out on Google Phone and TV. However, you will have to enable it from the Developer options. With Android 14, the predictive back gesture will be enabled by default, making it much easier for users to make sure that they don't end up exiting the app. Google even showed an example of the Google Calendar and how it works. When the feature is working, upon swiping to go back, you see the screen shrink with a little arrow at the spot. This is an indicator that lets you double-check if the gesture you are going for is the one you want or if you are exiting the app. These are the small inclusions that make Android a great ecosystem. However, it is worth noting that this feature is currently being discussed in vanilla Android 14. We cannot be sure if this is going to make out in other Android skins like One UI or OxygenOS. I have been using gestures on my Galaxy S22 Ultra for as long as I have had the phone and never really had any issues where I ended up leaving the app by mistake. However, considering how Google's working on this feature, it is safe to say that there is a user base out there that experiences this. Let us know what you think of this feature. https://wccftech.com/android-14-will-enable-predictive-back-gesture-to-work-inside-apps/

AMD to release flagship Radeon RX 7900 series GPU, delaying AIBs as far back as two weeks With NVIDIA's launch, the playing field was different. We saw some retailers selling or displaying cards before the GeForce RTX 4090 street date launch. AMD's partners, however, appear to be running into a roadblock for launch. Additionally, the current companies' announcements do not reveal critical specifications, such as power consumption levels, base and boost clock speeds, etc. Only three AIBs have so far revealed that they are working on the cards and none of them have revealed the full specs or their designs yet while NVIDIA's AIB had full specs, designs, and even prices appeared on the same day as the RTX 40 series unveil. To capitalize on sales, AMD might want to ensure that reference cards are sold before custom AIB partner graphics cards. This could be mainly part of the flagship AMD models stacked against the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 GPU. AMD's dramatic cost difference from NVIDIA could sway buyers to consider its company above the competition. Once the initial AMD batch of reference cards has been on the marketplace to garner those sales, then the AIB partners, who are rumored to have more expensive options coming soon, will be allowed to receive sales of GPUs, but not to the level that AMD is anticipating. We reported that AMD might have a launch supply better than NVIDIA's RTX 40 series but it looks like the red team really wants users to have a taste of their reference designs first. It's definitely going to be a heated December with NVIDIA and AMD both battling out in the high-end GPU space. 16. Although the terms serpent, viper, and snake seem to mean the same thing, there is a difference to be aware of. Here we give you the details. Outside of taxonomic rigor, it is common for the terms snake, viper and snake to be used as synonyms that refer to the same type of animal, without contemplating any difference. Diego GutiΓ©rrez AscenciΓ³n, a specialist in herpetofauna at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), comments that, depending on certain geographical areas, the aforementioned lack of distinction is more common. However, from a biological formality, there are distinctions between the mentioned ways of calling these reptiles. The difference between snake, viper and snake Snake The first thing to establish the difference between snake, viper and snake is to understand the biological place that the first occupies. In this sense, snakes are a suborder of reptiles that are characterized by being vertebrates and by the absence of limbs. There are 4 thousand species of these animals. Other features that help define snakes or snakes, according to Diego GutiΓ©rrez AscenciΓ³n, are the following: the scales Embryonic development from egg The absence of eyelids The change of skin Temperature dependency for metabolic activity Adaptation to various ecosystems (jungles, deserts, forests, etc.) The snakes, then, correspond to a higher order, from which several families or taxonomic groups emerge, among which are the Viperidae and the Colubridae (vipers and snakes, correspondingly). In other words: vipers, snakes and other snakes are under the term snake. Snake Vipers make up the Viperidae family and are distinguished from other snakes by always being poisonous. They are organisms that possess a solenoglyphic dentition, which refers to the position and shape of their venom inoculating fangs. Currently, there is a record of 329 species. It may interest you: Snake bites kill more people a year than dog, shark and lion attacks combined Although it is not exclusive to vipers, the keeled scales are one of the aspects that most help to distinguish these reptiles. The same happens with vertical pupils; there are other snakes that have them, but they are usually more common among most species of this family. Due to the prominence of the venom glands, the viper's head is triangular in shape. On the other hand, the body of these beings tends to be more bulky towards the middle zone. Diego GutiΓ©rrez AscenciΓ³n adds one more detail about these snakes. According to the specialist, these animals do not exist in Oceania. Snake Snakes represent the Colubridae family. In this group, much more numerous than the previous one, there are approximately 1,800 species. The physical constitution of these reptiles, compared to that of vipers, is uniform, since it does not have that slight bulge in the middle part. By the way, the head usually has a diameter very similar to that of the rest of the body. It may interest you: Since when do snakes exist? Despite the above, Diego GutiΓ©rrez AscenciΓ³n comments that nocturnal snakes come to represent the exception to the rule. This is reflected in the possibility of finding species with triangular heads or vertical pupils, traits generally associated with vipers. Most snakes have smooth scales, although there are exceptions. As for poison, it should not be assumed that members of this group lack it. However, there are many species that are not poisonous. Precisely, related to the latter, comes the issue of teething. There are aglyphous snakes, this is the absence of poison inoculating members. But, there are also species whose poisonous fang is all the way to the bottom of the upper jaw. This is known as opisthoglyphic dentition. In summary… The difference between snake, viper and snake is that the first term refers to the entire order, the other two are families, taxonomically different from each other, that emerge from this division of reptiles. https://www.ngenespanol.com/animales/cual-es-la-diferencia-entre-serpiente-vibora-culebra/
  17. BMW’s M performance division has revealed the long-awaited, ultra-limited 3.0 CSL, with a unique exterior design and uprated power, to round off its 50th anniversary celebrations. Based on the current G82 variant of the BMW M4, the BMW 3.0 CSL pays homage to the legendary 3.0 CSL β€˜Batmobile’ from 1973, the firm’s lightened, uniquely styled rally racer that won the European Touring Car Championship four years in a row. Driven by the most powerful straight-six engine ever used in a road-legal BMW M car, the 3.0 CSL produces 552bhp and 405lb ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels, and is managed by a six-speed manual transmission. The model’s crankcase has been made more rigid, BMW says, while the crankshaft has been lightened and the cooling system designed for more enthusiastic driving. It also makes use of an active M differential, adaptive M suspension and M carbon-ceramic brakes that measure 400x38mm at the front and 380x28mm at the rear. The 3.0 CSL’s exterior bears the same racing livery as the rally hero on which it is based, with Alpine White paintwork and carbon racing stripes. Yellow headlights, meanwhile, nod to the BMW M4 GT3, winner of both 2022’s driver and team DTM championships. Carbonfibre features throughout the car, which becomes the firm’s first large series model to be fitted with a carbon roof, while the bonnet, bootlid, front and rear aprons, side sills, rear diffuser and rear spoiler are all also made from the lightweight material. BMW says all-round improvements have been made to aero and driving dynamics. The model gains chunkier wheel arches, a large rear spoiler and a bulkier rear end, in addition to a new bonnet and headlights from the BMW M3. Its fenders have also been upgraded to more closely resemble those on the original 3.0 CSL, while the large rear spoiler bolsters downforce and traction to the rear axle. BMW says the larger wheel arches make room for 20in wheels at the front and 21in wheels at the rear, wearing bespoke tyres designed specifically for the 3.0 CSL. Inside, the 3.0 CSL is fitted with carbon bucket seats and space for two helmets behind the driver and passenger. The seats, steering wheel and roof liner are finished with Alcantara, featuring white stitching to match the exterior paint. Just 50 3.0 CSL cars will be built – numbered from 01/50 to 50/50 – with production taking around three months at BMW’s Dingolfing plant in Germany. The marque has not revealed pricing or how many cars will come to the UK. https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/new-bmw-30-csl-552bhp-celebration-ms-50th-anniversary
  18. China has recorded its highest number of daily Covid cases since the pandemic began, despite stringent measures designed to eliminate the virus. Several major cities including the capital Beijing and southern trade hub Guangzhou are experiencing outbreaks. Wednesday saw 31,527 cases recorded compared with an April peak of 28,000. The numbers are still tiny for a country of 1.4 billion people and officially just over 5,200 have died since the pandemic began. That equates to three Covid deaths in every million in China, compared with 3,000 per million in the US and 2,400 per million in the UK, although direct comparisons between countries are difficult. While China's zero-Covid policy has clearly saved lives, it has also dealt a punishing blow to the economy and ordinary people's lives. The country slightly relaxed some of those restrictions a few weeks ago. It cut quarantine for close contacts from seven days in a state facility to five days and three days at home, and stopped recording secondary contacts which allowed many more people to avoid having to quarantine. Officials have also sought to avoid enforcing blanket lockdowns of the kind endured by the largest city, Shanghai, earlier this year. But faced with a renewed surge in cases in Beijing, as well as the first deaths from the virus in months, officials have already implemented some restrictions in several districts, with shops, schools and restaurants closed. The central city of Zhengzhou is also to enforce an effective lockdown for 6 million residents from Friday, officials announced. It follows violent protests at a vast industrial complex belonging to iPhone manufacturer Foxconn. The firm has apologised for a "technical error" in its payment systems. Other stories of suffering and desperation have been shared online where they have fuelled public resentment. Last week, reports that a baby in Zhengzhou died because her medical care was delayed by Covid restrictions prompted a huge outcry. Among some of the most severe responses to Covid this year: In January, in the tourist hub city of Xi'an, po[CENSORED]tion 13 million, some residents were forced out of their homes in a midnight eviction and bussed to quarantine facilities, while disturbing claims surfaced of people unable to get crucial medical attention In March, the lockdown announced in Shanghai was meant to last less than a week but its 25 million residents stayed home for two months In September, residents in locked down Chengdu found themselves trapped in their apartments during an earthquake. Elsewhere, rescue workers were required to do a Covid test before they could save anyone. Worn out by the pandemic The word came suddenly last night that our housing compound would be locked down with all residents confined to their homes. This is not a surprise in China anymore. At any point, a single infection or being linked to an infection can mean not being allowed out. Beijing is in the middle of a major Covid outbreak but, even before then, visiting a shopping mall or a building where an infected person had been meant going into home quarantine. Right now, in the capital's vast Chaoyang district most businesses are closed. In thousands of tower blocks, all residents have been ordered to remain indoors for the next few days initially. Then consider that this is being replicated in cities right across the country. In the regions of Xinjiang and Tibet, the lockdowns have gone on for months. At the beginning of 2023, this country will be heading into its fourth year of this crisis and, whether it is true or not, zero-Covid has a never-ending feeling to it. People are completely worn out by the pandemic and the government's economy-destroying response to it. That officials have not explained where the off ramp is, has only added to the uncertainty. Scientists here can also see that China's vaccination rates are way too low, especially amongst vulnerable groups. What is more, not enough resources have been diverted into expanding medical facilities to cope with a massive influx of patients following any opening-up. In the short term though, my compound has now told me that, after several rounds of mass testing, we are allowed to leave. For most residents this will not make much difference though because hardly anything outside is open, including their workplaces. China is the last major economy still pursuing a Covid eradication process with mass testing and lockdown rules, and virus cases are being recorded in 31 provinces. Part of the reason is that vaccination levels are lower than in other developed nations, and only half of people aged over 80 have their primary vaccinations. China has refused to import vaccines despite evidence that its homemade jabs have not proved as effective. President Xi Jinping argues that strict curbs are needed to protect the country's large elderly po[CENSORED]tion. Zero-Covid has come to define his rule and the authoritarian bureaucracy at his disposal like almost no other policy. It projects a veneer of control and stability in the run-up to March when China's equivalent of a parliament will convene to choose Mr Xi as president for a third time. "Lockdowns prevent Covid outbreaks from spreading," William Hurst, professor of Chinese development at Cambridge University, told BBC News recently. "But they also exert incredibly strict social control." https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-china-63739617
