  1. When the RTX 3080 Founders Edition landed, we were immediately curious what the waterblocks for that card were going to look like, given that the PCB has a huge bite taken out of it. Back in September, EKWB confirmed that the reference card wasn't identical to the Founders Edition PCB, and later in November it came out with Special Edition waterblocks for the Founders Edition cards. But EKWB isn't the only watercooling player on the market, and Bitspower also wants a piece of the pie -- which resulted in the birth of the Premium Mobius Waterblock for Founders Edition RTX 3080 cards, as listed on Bitspower's website. The waterblock is styled surprisingly strongly to match the styling of Nvidia's Founders Edition cards, albeit without the fans or fin arrays. Instead, you get a see-through window into the block. Of course, because the block's inlet and outlets are at the far end rather than on the side, it also looks like a giant USB stick. On the PCIe side of the waterblock you'll spot a D-RGB connector, and on the outer side a big hole where Nvidia's 12-pin power connector feeds into the card. The block itself is made from nickel-plated copper, with the shroud around it appears to be made from aluminum, though we're not quite sure at this time. Pricing is set at 9,150 NTD, which translates to a pricey $326 USD -- and that's not including sales tax or shipping.
  2. Facebook has initiated legal proceedings against several Portugal-based developers for unscrupulously scraping data from customers using the site. The social network argues that four of their extensions listed on the Chrome Web Store, functioned like spyware. In a release posted in their newsroom, Jessica Romero, Facebook’s Director of Platform Enforcement and Litigation said the developers “misled users into installing the extensions with a privacy policy that claimed they did not collect any personal information. She added that the extensions conceal code that’s designed to scrape information from Facebook along with other information from the users’ browsers, without their knowledge and consent. Keep your devices virus-free with the best malware removal software These are some of the best identity theft protection providers Check out our roundup of the best endpoint protection software Spyware extensions “If the user visited the Facebook website, the browser extensions were programmed to scrape their name, user ID, gender, relationship status, age group and other information related to their account,” Romero said. She added that the case is part of Facebook’s ongoing international efforts “to detect and enforce against those who scrape Facebook users’ data, including those who use browser extensions to compromise people’s browsers.” The four extensions she highlighted, namely Web for Instagram plus DM, Blue Messenger, Emoji keyboard and Green Messenger, are reportedly still available for download in the Chrome Web Store and currently have more than 54,000 users. The developer's response to Facebook's legal action isn't yet known.
  3. Gearbox Software has released the full patch notes for the latest update for Borderlands 3, now live in the game. The update adds a new limited-time mini-event called Supercharged Crystals and makes a few in-game quality-of-life adjustments. Supercharged Crystals ensures that all the crystals in the Takedown of the Guardian Breach, an optional endgame mission, do not lose their charge after you move away from them. Normally, these crystals lose their charge when no one is charging them--only maintaining their charge once you've capped them off--and if any become completely empty, then you have to restart from a checkpoint. Now Playing: Borderlands 3 Excels In Its Endgame So basically, this mini-event ensures you can't be wiped during the crystal charging parts of this Takedown, allowing you to more easily reach the next phase. For folks who haven't managed to beat Takedown of the Guardian Breach, this mini-event is the ideal time to try again. Supercharged Crystals ends on January 21 at 9AM PT / 12PM ET. For those who haven't yet attempted Takedown of the Guardian Breach, it's the second of Borderlands 3's Takedowns, which is the loot shooter's version of a super challenging multi-part raid. We recommend bringing along a full team of four players, and most (if not all) should be max level, have invested in their character's ideal loadout, and possess some really good loot. Beyond this mini-event, the new update makes some balancing adjustments to Borderlands 3 as well, which are detailed below. Borderlands 3 January 14 Hotfix Gear Adjustments Techspert Operative Class Mod Increased the chance on kill to recharge SNTNL Cooldown and Duration from 15% to 35% D.N.A. Increased Weapon Damage, Magazine Size, Fire Rate, and Projectile Speed Decreased Reload Time Ripper Increased weapon damage SF Force Increased weapon damage Malak's Bane Increased weapon damage

  6. Dodge was clear from the launch of the 2021 Durango SRT Hellcat that the model was a one-year-only offering. The plan was for production to last just six months. New information suggests that assembly of the performance SUV ends in June, according to Mopar Insiders citing dealer sources. The Jefferson North Assembly Plant in Michigan is also going to increase production slightly because of the huge demand. Originally, Dodge planned to build around 2,000 examples of the Durango SRT Hellcat. The limited-run Durango retails for $80,995 (plus a $1,495 destination fee). The options include the $1,495 Black Package for adding dark accents to the body and $2,395 Technology Group that includes adaptive cruise control, brake assist, forward collision warning, and lane departure warning. Additional upgrades include body stripes for $1,195, $1,595 Laguna brown leather seats, $995 19-speaker stereo, $1,295 power sunroof, and more. Ticking every possible option box takes the price to nearly $100,000. The Durango SRT Hellcat packs the familiar 6.2-liter supercharged V8 making 710 horsepower (529 kilowatts) and 645 pound-feet (875 newton-meters). An eight-speed automatic sends the power to an all-wheel-drive system. It can reach 60 miles per hour (96 kilometers per hour) in 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 180 mph (290 kph). It can cover the quarter-mile in 11.5 seconds. Plus, the high-powered crossover can still tow 8,700 pounds (3,946 kilograms). Other performance upgrades include an improved suspension and Brembo brakes with rotors measuring 15.8 inches in front and 13.8 inches in the back. Inside, there's a flat-bottom steering wheel and red-trimmed gauges.
  7. The plant-based meat company, known for its beefless burgers, will serve up free breakfast sandwiches made with its meatless sausage patties for a limited time on Thursday Jan. 14 at local restaurant chains across the country. Restaurants in cities including Austin, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, New York, Seattle and San Francisco will cook up their own iteration of a meatless breakfast sandwich. Eaters can now book a time slot to try one at a location nearby via the reservation website Resy, and can pick up their free meal between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. MCDONALD’S ALL DAY BREAKFAST MAY BE GONE FOR GOOD The plant-based food category continues to grow in mainstream restaurants and fast food chains with the likes of Burger King, White Castle, Del Taco and KFC embracing meatless menu items. And Beyond Meat in particular seems to be focusing more on breakfast. The company teamed up with Dunkin last year to serve a Beyond Sausage Egg and Cheese, and Starbucks also expanded its breakfast menu to include a Beyond Meat egg breakfast sandwich. What's more, the country's biggest meat company, Tyson, launched its Jimmy Dean-brand plant-based patty, included with store-bought Jimmy Dean croissant sandwiches last week, joining the competition in the meatless breakfast category. The demand for breakfast seems to be higher than ever during the pandemic. When McDonald’s stopped serving its all-day breakfast menu in March, eaters complained about the change on social media. Want to know where you can score a free plant-based breakfast on Jan. 14? Here’s a full list of restaurants serving up the Beyond Meat menu item: Austin: Brunch Bird is offering its Farmer John sandwich. Chicago: Yolk locations are offering their Beyond Skillet. Dallas: Love Burger Shack is offering its Beyond Breakfast Sausage Sandwich. Los Angeles: Hilltop Coffee & Kitchen locations are offering their Beyond Bangin Breakfast Sandwich; Cafe Organix is serving its Breakfast Burger. New York: Gregorys Coffee is offering its Vegan Deluxe; P.S. Kitchen is offering its Beyond Breakfast Sandwich. San Antonio: Earth Burger is offering its Breakfast Warp. San Francisco: Craftsman & Wolves is offering its Breakfast Sandwich. Seattle: Anchorhead Coffee is offering its Beyond Cheddar Biscuit Sandwich. Washington, DC: PLNT Burger locations are offering the PLNT Egg Sammy.
  8. One week after deadly unrest at the heart of the US government, photographs are going viral of National Guard troops keeping watch over the Capitol. The images, showing a heavy security presence inside and outside the building, are a complete contrast to the scenes of chaos broadcast around the world last week. At least 10,000 members of the National Guard will be in Washington DC by Saturday and police officials say that number could be more than doubled for Joe Biden's inauguration day next week. The large deployment comes as the US House of Representatives votes on Wednesday on whether to impeach President Donald Trump for a second time for the role he played in last week's violence. Follow our live updates Can Trump be removed or banned from politics? How many arrests so far from Capitol riots? Did Trump's words incite violence? Mr Trump is accused by the opposition Democratic Party, which has a majority in the House, of "incitement of insurrection" and some members of his own Republican party have indicated they will vote to charge him. Many of the lawmakers voting today were caught up in the events of last week, when thousands of radical pro-Trump supporters broke into the Capitol complex as Congress voted to certify the presidential election results. After the building was secured and rioters cleared, a large fence was erected and thousands of National Guardsmen were brought in to help protect Congress. As of Tuesday, the Pentagon approved those protecting the Capitol to carry lethal weapons as well as protective equipment. The highly visible show of force comes amid widespread criticism of the chaotic security situation last week and amid fears of further violence in the run-up to Mr Biden's inauguration on 20 January. The FBI, still hunting those responsible for last week's violence, has issued warnings of possible armed protests and further unrest across the country in the coming days.
  9. In conjunction with Intel’s Rocket Lake CPU announcements, board partners pulled back the curtain on several new Z590-based motherboards to go along with the upcoming chip. The new motherboards promise native PCIe 4.0 support (with Rocket Lake CPUs), USB 3.2 Gen2x2 support from the chipset and upgraded power delivery. Best of all, we’ll get to see some new board designs. All of the major board partners have released a slate of options based on the new chipset -- many of which we’ll eventually review -- and a select few may even make it to our best motherboards page. On the CPU front, the Rocket Lake CPUs took a step backward on core count at the top end, with the flagship Core i9-11900K set at 8-core/16-threads (like the i9-9900K had in 2018), while the Core i9-10900K was a 10-core/20-thread part. But the reality is, that change won’t affect a lot of users. At this time, there aren’t many (possibly any) games that show a marked performance improvement above an 8-core/16-thread setup. And if your work needs more, you can step up to the HEDT platform or buy an AMD Ryzen 5000 series/X570 combination. Helping to make up for the core count deficit, the new CPU is supposed to bring significant IPC improvements as well as AVX-512 support, faster base memory speed (up to 3200 MHz), 20 CPU-connected PCIe 4.0 lanes, Intel Xe integrated graphics and more. As with previous launches, Intel will certainly fill out the product stack with other variants such as 6-core/12-thread processors down to 4-core/8-thread parts. When the time comes, we’ll have a full CPU review as well as an updated product list. Until then, we have some high-level information about the new Z590 chipset and the motherboards that go along with it to tide you over. Intel Z590 Chipset: Same Socket, Different Features At the time of this writing, Intel has not released the full details of the Z590 chipset. However, we do know a few things that differentiate Z590 from the previous-gen Z490. Unlike Z390 to Z490, the LGA 1200 socket remains the same, which in this case means both Rocket Lake-S and Comet Lake-S chips will work with Z590 based motherboards; Z490 requires a BIOS update to work with Rocket Lake processors. In addition to the flagship Z590 chipset, Intel is also releasing B560 and H510 chipsets. Typically these lesser chipsets are locked to prevent overclocking. However, there are rumors of B560 overclocking. Stay tuned on that front. The most significant difference between the two chipsets is native PCIe 4.0 support when using a Rocket Lake processor. A Rocket Lake CPU shares 20 PCIe PCIe 4.0 lanes between the PCIe slots/GPU and M.2 socket/storage. It feels like Intel has finally caught up to AMD’s B550 chipset, at least, but still isn’t close to the lane count and flexibility of X570. Another significant difference with Z590 is the DMI link between the chipset and CPU. On Z590, Intel has doubled the link speed, going from PCIe 3.0 x4 to x8. The jump to x8 effectively doubles the amount of bandwidth available for any chipset-connected devices (storage and networking for example). Additionally, the chipset now has native support for USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 (20 Gbps), so we should see these ultra-fast USB Type-A and Type-C ports on most Z590 motherboards. Other differences are more subtle, outside of the native PCIe 4.0 support on all boards. Here’s a look at how Z590 compares with Intel’s previous mainstream flagship chipsets. Keep in mind some details are still uncertain as we wrote this.
  10. Managing downloads is about to get a whole lot easier for Microsoft Edge users as Microsoft has begun rolling out a new flyout menu for downloads in its browser. The feature is currently being tested by Edge Canary users in a controlled rollout and it will likely be made available to all Edge users in a future release. We've assembled a list of the best VPN services around These are the best Windows 10 VPN services on the market Also check out our roundup of the best business VPN Edge's new flyout menu will allow users to manage downloaded files directly from their browser and they'll also be able to view the progress of each download. Microsoft Edge's new downloads menu was first discovered by a Reddit user who goes by the handle Leopeva64-2 who shared several screenshots of it in a post on the site. According to Leopeva64-2, Edge users will be able to pin the downloads button to the browser's taskbar to perform quick actions such as seeing the progress of downloads or clicking on shortcuts to other tasks like clearing their download history. The new flyout menu will also help boost productivity as users will be able to open the folder a file is saved in or easily remove an item from their downloads list. Based on the fact that this feature is now rolling out to some Edge Canary users, Microsoft could soon implement its new flyout menu for downloads in the stable version of its browser soon.
  11. One thing that sets Escape From Tarkov apart from other multiplayer shooters is how deep its various systems go. From combat and gear to movement and inventory management, every element not only has multiple moving parts to understand, but also requires a fair bit of work on the player's part to properly control. Unless you're used to more realistic military sims, Escape From Tarkov's barrier to entry is a bit higher than your average shooter. If you really want to be on top of your game, you're going to have to learn a lot of hotkeys. Below, you'll find a handy list of some of the most important and commonly used hotkeys in Escape From Tarkov, as well as a rundown of the basic controls--the action, the primary key binding, and the press type (if it's something other than pressing or releasing a button) listed below are all the current default from Escape From Tarkov's settings. We've changed the wording for "press type" or "input type" to be a bit more basic than what the game's official settings specify--"continuous" is now "hold down," for instance, meaning it's a key you need to hold down rather than just press once. We've also added a few hotkeys that were unlisted and bolded some particularly handy ones to memorize, which we'll go over individually. Note that the distinction between a "basic" and "advanced" control in this guide is entirely for organizational purposes--Escape From Tarkov's game settings don't distinguish its inputs this way, this is just to make things clearer for new players. What's "advanced" for one player might be considered "basic" for another--it all depends on how new you are to the kind of hardcore, genre-bending shooter Tarkov strives to be. In any case, we hope this guide will help you learn the finer nuances of Tarkov's movement, how to properly wield your weapons and take advantage of their customizability, and how to quickly cycle through your inventory when exploring and looting in the dangerous Russian city of Tarkov. If you're interested in picking up the game, check out our Escape From Tarkov preorder guide for a quick breakdown on where to buy and the differences between its four editions. Escape From Tarkov is not on Steam and remains in early access, but its frequent updates, such as the latest patch, 12.9, consistently add new content and the occasional progress wipe to keep the game fresh for its thriving community. Note: Escape From Tarkov is still in development, so many of the default hotkeys and keybindings are subject to change as its systems get updated. We will try to keep this guide as up-to-date as possible, but if you see something is missing or inaccurate, feel free to let us know in the comments!
  12. Some dog owners say they're sick as a dog over the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (DOT) final decision that emotional support animals (ESAs) are no longer considered service animals on flights, giving airlines the OK to ban them. Fired up over the "ruff" news, hundreds of animal lovers have signed petitions urging major carriers to let support animals fly. Announced in December 2020 and effective Jan. 11, the DOT’s revision to the Air Carrier Access Act declared that ESAs will no longer be considered service animals on commercial flights. The federal Cabinet department cited over 15,000 comments on the proposal in making the change to the controversial travel topic. While trained service dogs are still welcome aboard commercial flights with proof of proper registration, carriers American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Alaska Airlines and JetBlue have already banned ESAs from travel. Frontier Airlines and Spirit Airlines also announced on Monday that they would no longer be accepting bookings for ESAs. BIDEN'S RESCUE DOG MAJOR TO RECEIVE 'INDOGURATION' CEREMONY Now, critics demand that the DOT change its course, making the case and raising support through online petitions. One such organizer is Leana Rendon, who hopes that lawmakers will consider reclassifying ESAs to be protected (and fly) under the Americans with Disabilities Act. In a Change.org petition created on Jan. 7, Rendon explained that she relies on her ESA Charlie, who Yahoo Lifestyle reports is a German Shepherd, to relieve her social anxiety in public. "I know I'm not the only one lucky enough to experience this type of bond with their dog," Rendon wrote in the appeal, which currently has over 600 signatures. "We can find ways to help others out there like us who have done all the right things, but are being punished for the ones who decided they didn't want to pay for a pet fee for their peacock," alluding to the infamous incident in which an emotional support peacock named Dexter and his owner were denied boarding a United Airlines flight in 2018. "Please help those who actually need this privilege and do right by it," she urged. "I've done everything in my control to do right by my ESA and I will not be sticking him in cargo when we travel. … I know we are not the only ones out there who would continue to do our duties as ESA owners and to ensure the banning of them doesn't happen." New signatures have also flooded an older Care2 petition demanding that the Federal Aviation Administration and DOT allow ESAs to travel on commercial flights; that pitch is currently over 85,000 signatures strong.
  13. Thinking about buying a new Ford Bronco Sport? Prospective buyers were no doubt bummed to learn Ford already increased the Bronco Sport's base price last month, but now there's a new incentive to lure folks into dealerships. The good news is that it more than offsets the price hike, but it's still just a modest offering from Ford. Specifically, the Blue Oval offers $500 in Retail Bonus Cash, which is just a fancy way of saying here's a $500 discount. There is a bit more to it, in that the bonus aspect means the incentive can be combined with other offers. That usually isn't the case with such deals, which means Bronco Sport shoppers can lump this with various financing offers through Ford that currently includes zero percent for four years. Still, that would mean a payment well north of $630 per month on even a modestly equipped model, though Ford does offer finance options for up to 84 months at 4.9 percent. One thing you can't do with this $500 incentive is apply it to a lease deal. Retail Bonus Cash is only available to retail buyers, and according to Cars Direct, lease deals for the Bronco Sport still aren't the greatest. Offers certainly vary based on location, but a common three-year lease with $3,192 down ends up costing quite a bit more than a larger Ford Explorer XLT. And because residual values play a major role in monthly lease rates, it's actually cheaper to lease a higher trim level Bronco Sport than a Base model. There's no question that excitement over the reborn SUV has pricing at a premium right now, even with this $500 incentive in place. Perhaps as time rolls on and the larger Bronco reaches dealerships, better deals on the smaller Bronco Sport will become available. In the meantime, Ford will reportedly keep this current incentive available through the end of March.
  14. Gigabyte has a pair of new gaming notebooks with AMD's new Ryzen 5000 processors paired with Nvidia RTX 30-series graphics. What's notable is that they go up to the RTX 3070, passing the seeming barrier of the RTX 2060 paired with Ryzen chips last year. Designed to compete with the best gaming laptops, the new computers are dubbed the Gigabyte A5 and A7, and don't use the Aorus brand that the company typically uses for its high-end gaming notebooks. The A5 will start at $999 while the A7 will start at $1,399. The A5 is a 15.6-inch laptop with two submodels: the A5 X1, with either a Ryzen 9 5900H or Ryzen 7 5800H paired with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Max-P; and the A5 K1, with either a Ryzen 7 5800H or Ryzen 5 5600H with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Max-P. The display is 1920 x 1080 and runs at 240 Hz. The A7 is a 17.3-inch with just one option: an Ryzen 7 5800H and an RTX 3060 Max-P. Its 1920 x 1080 display runs at 144 Hz. Otherwise, they seem largely similar, down to the same battery capacity.
  15. Workplace may be one of Facebook’s lesser-known offerings, competing for air-time with the likes of WhatsApp and Messenger, but the social media giant has big plans for its business collaboration platform. While there are many rival offerings on the market (Slack, Teams, Asana etc.), all of whom will have had a stellar year thanks to the rise of remote working, Workplace is distinguished by its unique heritage, with roots in consumer social media. In a lot of ways, using Workplace is exactly like browsing Facebook. And according to Ujjwal Singh, Head of Product Strategy at Workplace, this sense of familiarity is something the firm plans to further capitalize on this year. Here's our list of the best video conferencing services right now Working from home: the mouse, monitor, keyboard and router you need Check out our list of the best headsets for conference calls “We are very much built in a similar way to Facebook. And that’s one of our core value propositions,” he told us. “People know what a ‘reaction’ is, what a ‘like’ is, what a ‘news feed’ is and they’ve seen people ‘go live’ on Facebook. So there isn’t a large learning curve associated with Workplace.”1 “The stated mission of Facebook is to connect people and build community around the world. Applying that same mission to businesses is an interesting proposition - and it’s in our DNA.” Asked whether he thought some people might baulk at the idea of spending their working days chained to an interface they associate naturally with play, he explained that Workplace is also very careful to set the proper boundaries. Users do not log into Workplace with their consumer Facebook account, for instance, and nor do the two services share an application. Workplace leverages Facebook infrastructure, but is also at pains to stress that customers own their own data on the platform, which is not wholly true of the consumer service. The key, Singh says, is in finding the right balance. One of the main benefits of sitting underneath the Facebook umbrella is that features trialled, tested and perfected on the consumer platform tend to trickle down into the business service - and sometimes vice versa too. “Any innovation on the consumer side we look to add into Workplace as well,” Singh explained. “It’s not about copying pixel by pixel from consumer, but more about hand-picking features and porting them over in a way that makes sense for work.” As if to highlight this process in action, Workplace has today announced two new upgrades that are straight out of the Facebook playbook. The first is a new multi-host option for the platform’s live broadcast feature, which has its origins in Facebook Live. Now, companies can broadcast to large audiences in a Q&A or panel discussion format, bringing in both internal and external speakers as “co-hosts” on screen without the need for a whole production team. Facebook Live and its Workplace equivalent share the exact same underlying infrastructure, which means the latter is able to scale to the same heights as massive consumer-centric broadcasts. “For a big firm like Walmart to go company-wide is no problem for us, because on the consumer side we have Kim Kardashian broadcasting to her fans,” joked Singh, but his point is a serious one. The second new addition is a feature that allows companies to take a register check of employees in the event of a safety incident, such as an office fire or virus outbreak. Since 2014, Facebook users have been able to “mark themselves as safe” in the aftermath of natural crises or terror incidents, and now the same is true of Workplace. “No two safety incidents are the same. But if there’s one commonality, it’s the need for employers to be able to check on and clearly communicate with impacted employees quickly. New message types and multiple messages will enable organizations to better tailor their crisis response to the situation,” Workplace explained in a press release. These new features, according to the company, are just a preview of what’s to come in 2021. The future of work With vaccine rollouts gathering steam, some will allow themselves to fantasize about a return to a working life that looks a little more like normality as we knew it pre-2020. But where might this leave the platforms that have risen from obscurity in the interim to become household names, in response to specific needs created by the pandemic? Commentators are divided on the question; some believe the pandemic has had a transformative effect on the world of work, while others think we may look back on the period in a few years as if it were some awful dream. As you might expect, however, Singh is confident of the long-term prospects of businesses like Workplace, which have so obviously gained from wholesale changes to ways of working. “We’ve seen ten years of innovation and changes within one year, and that’s not going away,” he said. “We continue to be excited about the mission of bringing people together and building company culture. Those needs might have been emphasized by the pandemic, but they’re going nowhere any time soon.” Check out our list of the best office desks and best office chairs for any budget
  16. Nintendo's Super Mario 35th anniversary celebration continues this weekend with a new Splatfest event in Splatoon 2. The game's Super Mario Splatfest takes place from January 15-17, and it asks players to choose between two of the plumber's most iconic power-ups. The Splatfest kicks off at 2 PM PT / 5 PM ET and runs for 48 hours. This event asks players which Mario power-up they'd rather have: Super Mushroom or Super Star? You'll need to cast your vote at the terminal in Inkopolis Square before you can take part in the competition. As usual, everyone who participates in the Splatfest will earn Super Sea Snails, which can be used to either add a new ability slot to a piece of gear or re-roll one that has already been maxed out. On top of that, Nintendo is giving away commemorative Splatoon 2/Mario 35th anniversary coins to the top 35 players on each team. To be eligible, you'll need to sign up for the Online Challenge before the Splatfest ends. Although July 2019's big Splatocalypse event marked the end of monthly Splatfests, Nintendo has been periodically hosting bonus re-run Splatfests in the game since last year. It remains to be seen if the company will bring back any more Splatfests in the future or if this month's event will mark the final one. Nintendo still has a few other events planned for its Super Mario 35th anniversary celebration. Next month, the company is releasing Super Mario 3D World on Switch. This port will include a new batch of content called Bowser's Fury, although Nintendo hasn't shared any details on that yet. Then in March, Nintendo will add a line of Mario furniture to Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
  17. In October 2020, Opel unveiled the updated version of its Crossland X crossover. The facelift brought a fresh new Mokka-inspired face, new technologies, a new trim level, and a shorter name without the X suffix. We haven’t seen spy photos of the larger Grandland X testing with similar updates yet but logic tells us it won’t take long until Opel introduces a facelifted version of the Peugeot 3008-based SUV. Our colleagues and friends at Motor.es decided to take a sneak peek at the future of the Grandland and created this rendering previewing the upcoming refresh. The virtual drawing proposes a sharper front fascia with Mokka-inspired headlights with C-shaped daytime running LEDs and a slimmer upper grille. In turn, the lower section of the bumper features a larger hexagonal grille with a mesh pattern and integrated LED fog lamps. Besides these changes, we don’t expect the Grandland (the X will probably disappear with the facelift) to see dramatic visual revisions. Of course, perhaps, there are going to be some tweaks at the back, including redesigned taillights and probably a new bumper design, but that’s nearly all we expect. Depending on the trim level, there might be new exterior colors and wheel options. Opel has been constantly updating the Grandland ever since its debut in September 2017. Most recently, the German SUV gained an all-wheel-drive plug-in hybrid powertrain with 300 horsepower (224 kilowatts) and 332 pound-feet (450 Newton-meters). If we can give our two cents, it’s likely that the PHEV system will be on focus when the facelifted model debuts as Europe’s emissions standards are getting stricter. Alternatively, customers will be able to choose from a selection of turbocharged gasoline and diesel engines.
  18. "I used to go on tons of coffee dates," said Linda Wohlers, a 73-year-old divorcée who lives in Naples, Fla. That is, until the pandemic "put a dead end to anything spontaneous, especially dating." Now, the Queens-born retiree is looking to get back out there — "There are a lot of single men down here!" — and already has an IRL (In Real Life) date set up with a man she met online right before lockdown hit. With the vaccine rollout prioritizing seniors, who are at a higher risk of serious complications from COVID — Wohlers’ retirement community is set to start giving out its shots on Monday — the 65-plus crowd is set to retire boring virtual dates in favor of the real thing. "They want companionship more than anything, especially after many of them lived in isolation for the better part of 10 months," said Maureen Tara Nelson, a Long Island-based relationship expert and matchmaker. "The silver foxes and cougars can’t wait to get back on the prowl to find the loves of their lives, without health and safety fears for them and their partner." Helen Fisher, Ph.D., an anthropologist who conducts scientific surveys for Match.com, predicts that "seniors will be out in droves. They have been more cautious over the past year than their younger counterparts, but as soon as they’re vaccinated they’ll be out." According to Fisher, video chatting will remain commonplace as an important "vetting stage" before in-person dating. But, she added, "The brain is built to meet somebody in person. It’s much more intense." Like everyone else, older singles are looking for "romantic love," she said. Wohlers has already booked a private tour of the Everglades with her long-distance man, whom she chats with online every day. "We met online and we found each other attractive, but he’s from Missouri," said Wohlers, adding that rising COVID numbers in their respective home states kept them from meeting in person. "I didn’t want him flying in when cases were high, and it’s pretty lax here, too." Deborah, 56, a teacher who lives outside of Kingston, N.Y., is likewise excited to regain her freedom to flirt in person after getting the jab, which she hopes to get in a matter of weeks as an immunocompromised front-line worker. "I’m looking forward to meeting someone face to face," said the instructor, who added that she’d be "more confident" if a potential date was also vaccinated. "I like when you can take a moment to touch someone’s hand, or connect by brushing their shoulder, or fixing a collar," she added. Right now, though, that feeling is still tantalizingly out of reach for many.
  19. Trump National in Bedminster has been stripped of the US PGA Championship in 2022 as its organisers felt using the course as host would be "detrimental". The PGA of America voted to terminate the agreement on Sunday. US President Donald Trump, who owns the course, has been accused by Democrats and some Republicans of encouraging last Wednesday's riot in Congress. A representative for the Trump Organization said they were "incredibly disappointed" with the decision. "It has become clear that conducting the PGA Championship at Trump Bedminster would be detrimental to the PGA of America brand and would put at risk the PGA's ability to deliver our many programmes and sustain the longevity of our mission," said PGA of America President Jim Richerson. "It was a decision made to ensure the PGA of America and PGA professionals can continue to lead and grow our game for decades to come." The course in New Jersey, one of 17 courses around the world owned by Trump, was due to host the major in May 2022. Another of his properties, Turnberry in Ayrshire, Scotland, has not been selected to host an Open Championship by the R&A since Trump bought the resort in 2014 - with the host venues now finalised up to 2024. Turnberry's Ailsa course has hosted The Open on four occasions since it first staged the championship in 1977, most recently in 2009. The PGA of America is now searching for a replacement host for one of the game's biggest four men's individual events. "We have had a beautiful partnership with the PGA of America," Trump's representative added. "This is a breach of a binding contract and they have no right to terminate the agreement." US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has shared with lawmakers plans to remove President Trump from office before starting an impeachment process, following the riots in the US Capitol building.
  20. For CES 2021, Thermaltake isn't only launching the new Tower 100 Mini chassis, but also a series of Divider cases. On show today is the Divider 300TG, which has a somewhat unusual ATX layout. In terms of footprint, the case is no different than most ATX mid-towers, measuring 220mm wide, 475mm tall and 461mm deep. Where it differs is with its divided side panel that's half tempered glass, half sheet metal and comes with a side intake/exhaust for added airflow. To aid with vertical GPU mounting, the PCIe slots on the chassis can rotate 90 degrees, as this helps the user place the GPU a little further from the side panel for better airflow. However, the question is, why vertical-mount the GPU if the side panel covers up most of it? Next to an ATX motherboard, the case has room for GPUs up to 390mm (360mm with radiators), 180mm power supplies (220mm without the PSU cage), two 3.5-inch drives and five 2.5-inch SSDs. For cooling, the ARGB variant of the cases pack three RGB intake fans that spin at up to 1,000 RPM. Both ARGB and non-RGB variants pack a non-RGB exhaust fan that also spins at up to 1,000 RPM. The Divider 300TG's front I/O consists of discrete audio jacks, power and reset switches, two USB 3.0 ports and a USB Type-C port. Pricing for the Divider 300TG is set at $80 for the base black version and $85 for white. To add the three RGB fans to the cases, add $30 to these base prices. The 300TG will be available in the U.S. later this month. Thermaltake will release other Divider Series models to compete with the best PC cases "later this year," its announcement said.
  21. Payment processing company Stripe has become the latest tech firm to go against Donald Trump after it announced it would no longer manage payments for the out-going president’s campaign website. Stripe reportedly made its decision after adjudging that the Trump campaign had encouraged acts of violence in the wake of the riots that struck the Capitol last week. In addition to Stripe, both PayPal and Shopify have been moderating their platforms for several years. In 2017 following the Charlottesville riots, PayPal began banning far-right organizations, while Shopify has removed a number of controversial online stores in recent years. Here's our list of the best e-commerce hosting providers Check out our roundup of the best payment gateways Also, see our list of the best POS systems around The action taken by Stripe follows similar decisions made by Twitter, Facebook, and Pinterest, with the President rapidly running out of technology platforms that he is able to use. Looking specifically at tech firms that process payments, many have acted quickly to remove accounts connected to extremist groups that support Trump. De-platformed Stripe will no doubt face accusations that its decision to stop processing payments for the Trump campaign is politically motivated. Technology firms have long been accused of attempting to shut down conservative voices and recent events have seen these claims voiced even more loudly. Last week, both Google and Apple removed the free speech social network Parler from their app stores – a decision that AWS followed up by revoking its web hosting services. These combined actions have effectively shut the platform down completely. However, the Silicon Valley giants have hit back at suggestions that they censor right-wing voices by stating that they only de-platform individuals and organizations where they incite violence. After the events in the Capitol last week, in which five people were killed, these firms believe that it is their legal duty to crack down on extremist views. Stripe may be the latest tech firm to distance itself from the Trump campaign but it might not be the last.
  22. Halo Infinite developer Kolbe Payne has officially left the studio. January 7 was his last day working for 343 Industries, and he's now taken a position at Darksiders studio Gunfire Games. Payne was a campaign level/gameplay designer on Halo Infinite from April 2019 to January 2021. His LinkedIn page says he worked for 343 on a contract basis. Payne is now working at Austin, Texas-based developer Gunfire Games as a junior level designer, though it's not immediately clear what project he's contributing to. The studio created Darksiders 3, which received mixed reviews when it launched in 2018. It also developed the Souls-like Remnant: From the Ashes the next year, which took From Software's formula and turned it into a snappy third-person shooter. The last Darksiders game was Darksiders Genesis, a spinoff prequel featuring Strife and War. It was developed by Airship Syndicate rather than Gunfire Games. Payne snapped a nice photo of himself leaving the 343 office, complete with Master Chief standing in the background and a Halo-branded cushion on a chair. Halo Infinite has gone through a fair amount of staff turnover in recent years, but Xbox boss Phil Spencer says that is nothing out of the ordinary. Halo Infinite was originally slated to release as a launch title for the Xbox Series X|S in November, but Microsoft elected to push the game to 2021 due in part to complications related to COVID-19 and working from home. Recently, 343 boss Bonnie Ross said the wait will be worth it. The game is shaking things up for the franchise, as it runs on a completely new engine and the multiplayer element of Halo Infinite will be free-to-play with microtransactions. When Halo Infinite is released, it will be free for Xbox Game Pass subscribers and available on Xbox One, PC, and Xbox Series X|S.

  25. When a Colorado restaurant's staff received a generous tip last week, even the kitchen workers got to take some of it home. Vin48, a restaurant in Avon, received a $2,021 tip last Sunday from a family who requested that the entire staff receive some of the money. Co-owner Collin Baugh told Vail Daily that the family of three left $1,100 for the kitchen staff and $900 for the wait staff and hosts. "And they wrote, ‘Great vibe and great service. Happy New Year!’" Baugh said. FLORIDA JUICE BAR RECEIVES $2,021 TIP ON NEW YEAR’S DAY FROM LOYAL CUSTOMER Carly Dierolf, the server who waited on the family, told the newspaper that the kitchen staff was happy to receive part of the generous tip. "It was really nice especially for the kitchen to be recognized for all of their hard work, in creating all of those dishes," Dierolf said. "We servers are constantly getting tipped for our service and the back of the house doesn’t get tipped for their hard work. It was great to see all the guys be so happy about it." MINNESOTA BOYS DONATE EARNINGS TO RESTAURANT AFTER TIP THEFT According to Vail Daily, the $1,100 was split evenly among kitchen staff, so chefs and dishwashers received the same amount. Similarly, the front of house staff also split their $900 evenly. The family -- who asked to remain anonymous -- left their generous tip on a $300 tab. Dierolf told Vail Daily that the family included two parents and their adult son who had never dined at Vin48 before, though they make a trip to the area every year after Christmas. "They were just a really nice family," Dierolf told the newspaper. "They seemed super down to earth. Even in the beginning of our conversation, they were interested in how we were doing because of the pandemic."
