We’re rather besotted with these unconventional Wi-Fi speakers borne out of a collaboration between Sonos and Ikea. The flat panel speaker is about as thick as a flatscreen TV and can be mounted flush against a wall or stood up on a shelf using the kickstand. Ikea offers interchangeable front panels so you can shake things up when you tire of its looks. There are controls on the side but the speakers also work with Sonos’s S2 app, which means you can send music seamlessly to different parts of your home, and access the full range of streaming services that plug into it. £199,

A new game has been stealth-released on the PS5 and it's one PlayStation fans may have played on the PS2. The PlayStation 2 is held by many as the best PlayStation console to date. A part of the sixth generation of consoles, the PS2 is the best-selling console of all time. This is partially because many households bought the console as a DVD player, but it didn't sell 155 million units on this alone. It also saw the birth of many of gaming's greatest series, such as Kingdom Hearts, God of War, Devil May Cry, Ratchet & Clank, and Jax and Daxter. Meanwhile, new games in series like Final Fantasy and Metal Gear Solid were exclusive to the console. In fact, the best-selling game on the console, GTA San Andreas, was exclusive to the PS2 when it was first released. Not everything that released during this era was legendary though. There were also games like Bloodrayne and Bloodrayne 2, which had their fans, but not to the same extent. That said, it's this pair of games that were stealth-released on the PS5 today. More specifically, remasters of the pair games -- which were released on PS4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One back on November 18 -- are now available on PS5 natively. Previously, they were only available to play on PS5 via backward compatibility. Developed by Big Boat Interactive and published by Ziggurat Interactive, the remasters boost the resolution of the game, upscale the cinematics, make engine improvements, and more. As for the original games, the series began in 2002 -- via developer Terminal Reality and publisher Majesco Entertainment -- with the release of the eponymous game (Bloodrayne). Upon release, the game received Metacritic scores ranging in the 70s across all platforms minus PC. In other words, the game wasn't a huge critical success nor a huge commercial success, but it did get a sequel in 2004, Bloodrayne 2. The sequel had a similar critical and commercial performance. Bloodrayne: Revamped Trailer Link Bloodrayne 2: Revamped Trailer Link At the moment of publishing, there's no word of the pair of games coming to Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X, making the pair of games a current-gen exclusive for the PS5, at least for the moment.

While everyone is talking about a very different virus right now, we are also using our computers more than ever to work from home, stay in touch with what's going on, to make video calls, and keep ourselves entertained. And like almost everything right now, we want our tech to be virus free and running at full health. Many people will now be opening up old Macbooks and firing up ancient Macs as they find themselves connecting to work and the outside world via computer screen. But in an age where we expect everything to be lightning quick - from our broadband to our desktop start up speed - what do you do when you find your Mac running on a go slow?So if you want a slick OS on your Mac it's a prudent investment to install a Mac cleaner to get your machine in tip top condition.Years of clutter building up, from old programs and apps, to photos and videos, can make your machine sluggish Not to mention the myth that Macs can't get viruses or malware - when in fact they are simply less targeted by malicious software that their Windows counterparts.Right now there's a flash sale on one of the leading products, CleanMyMac X.Normally priced at £34.95 for a one year subscription, the discounted price for a short time is £29.95.If you have two Macs to sort, there's an even better deal at £49.95 (instead of £69.90) a year, which is a saving of £19.95You can also buy a one time licence for £76.95.Many questions float around the web regarding these kinds of cleaning apps - mainly because those who need an app to help with this process ( as it is possible to do manually if you have the know-how) are not techy-minded enough to be able to assess their validity.Ukranian tech company MacPaw produces CleanMyMac X. This is praised for being a one-stop utility that removes defunct software and other pointless files while also scanning your machine for malware, managing extensions and checking for updates on your installed apps.MacPaw is one of the most trusted makers of iOS focused products, a completely legit company with software that is Apple verified and safe to install. Apple has scanned its code and found no malicious components, so it is definitely not spyware. Other highly praised Mac cleaners include Disk Doctor which is an award-winning UK product and aims to remove the junk that is slowing down your computer. Meanwhile MacBooster is different because it has a duplicate file remover — an extra option to free up space on MacMany people worry that cleaning applications will delete their beloved photos - but this is not the case. Your pictures are safe - but products such as CleanMyMac will remove unnecessary files associated with Mac’s picture service. To avoid getting malware, you should always download apps directly from the company website (these kinds of cleaning applications are not available in the App Store), and avoid downloading anything from sites such as cnet dot com, macupdate dot com and others. You should always check the DMG files on VirusTotal or with a good antivirus such as Norton, McAfee, or Bitdefender. Even once it is cleaned, your Mac should still have antivirus software to protect it, such as.

Shoddy software cost the US an estimated $2.08tr in 2020, according to the Consortium for Information & Software Quality (CISQ). That's down slightly from a revised 2018 total of $2.1tr but still isn't anything to brag about. In its 2020 report, The Cost of Poor Software Quality in the US, the Massachusetts-based standards group co-founded by the non-profit Object Management Group and Carnegie Mellon University's Software Engineering Institute (SEI), identifies three major cost sinkholes. Unsuccessful IT initiatives and software projects are estimated to have cost $260bn in 2020, up from $177.5bn in 2018. Poor quality in legacy systems is said to have eaten up $520bn, down from $635bn in 2018. And operational software failures – bugs – took a toll of $1.56tr last year, significantly more than the $1.275tr flushed away in 2018. "The losses due to operational failure in the US alone are staggering," said Dr. Bill Curtis, executive director of CISQ, in a statement. "It just takes one major outage or security breach to eliminate the value gained by speed to market. Disciplined software engineering matters when the potential losses are at this scale." The consequences of poor quality software are evident in various examples cited in the report, such as the two serious software bugs that prevented Boeing's Starliner from docking with the International Space Station in December, 2019, and put the spacecraft at risk. The incident resulted in Boeing taking a $410m charge in Q4 2019, which looks rather insignificant compared to the $2.5bn the company will pay to avoid fraud prosecution related to the deadly crashes of two Boeing 737 Max aircraft, also linked to bad software. Why is the situation so grim? The report argues there's an IT talent shortage, a claim others have made as well. "There are simply not enough good software developers around to create all the new and modified software that users need," the CISQ report says. "Given the indirect as well as the direct contribution of software to the economic base of most industrialized countries, and considering the ways in which software can amplify the powers of the individual/teams/organizations, we cannot allow this situation to continue." The report claims that just two percent of the worldwide po[CENSORED]tion can code and that the need for developers is expected to grow by 24 per cent over the next seven years. And it notes that the US Bureau of Labor Statistics says US software developer jobs will increase at a rate of 22 per cent over the next decade. To reduce the number of operational failures – the largest problem segment by fair – the report calls for better software defect detection and remediation of identified vulnerabilities. It asks individual developers to take responsibility for prioritizing software quality and it urges organizations to promote a culture that supports software excellence. "Producing quality products and systems makes good business sense, but what that means must be well-known in your organization," the report concludes

Snapchat has announced that it will start letting people change their usernames soon. The company says in an email that it's "excited to share that starting February 23, all Snapchatters across iOS and Android will be able to change their username without any impact on their friends list, Snap code, Snap score, memories, etc." as a result. It can be hard to pick a username. Some people use their real names for every account they create, others come up with a pseudonym they use across multiple sites, and still others go by whatever seems appropriate for the platform in question. There's no right answer. There are definitely wrong answers, though, and even a name that seems fine at first can become problematic. (Just ask the company formerly known as Isis Mobile Wallet.) Snapchat previously forced users to either deal with having terrible names or create new accounts. (Snapchat acknowledges this (albeit in nicer terms) in its email. "As an app built around ephemerality," it says, "we know that people grow and change–we certainly have over the last ten years–and we couldn’t be more excited to bring this top requested feature to Snapchatters)

If you’ve ever played an online game, whether that’s Fortnite, Call Of Duty or Apex Legends, then you’ll have experienced the sweaty palms that come with going toe-to-toe with a cocky 12-year-old shouting abuse at you over the voice comms. Short of keeping a chalk dish and a chamois cloth beside your console, there’s not a lot you could do about it... until now. This gaming mouse houses a tiny fan that blows cool air onto your palms through its honeycomb outer shell while you play. The rest of the mouse hardware uses the latest, most accurate sensors to keep your inputs sharp as well as dry. Price : 59$

In brief: The chip shortage has been a constant source of bad news for tech companies and consumers. However, the good news is the industry is slowly adapting to the unrelenting demand and even exploring ways to create a more resilient supply chain. GlobalWafers recently announced it would expand its manufacturing capacity between 2022 and 2024 in a project with capital expenditures totaling NT$100 trillion (approximately $3.6 billion). The company thought it a prudent move after it failed a planned $4.98 billion takeover of German wafer supplier Siltronic. More details about the expansion plans are expected to be revealed in March, including factory locations. In a statement, GlobalWafers CEO Doris Hsu said the company would evaluate several possible sites in the US, the EU, and Asia. If all goes well, the first production lines will be operational in the second half of 2023 Elsewhere, Toshiba is also looking to expand its capacity for 300-millimeter wafers for power semiconductors. The Japanese company wants to build a new manufacturing facility in the Ishikawa Prefecture that could become operational in 2024. This expansion would help Toshiba deliver capacity 2.5 times greater than what the company offered in 2021. The importance of continued investments in manufacturing capacity cannot be overstated. Earlier today, Ford said it would need to cut or suspend production at several facilities over the ongoing chip shortage. Sony has also cut its PS5 shipments forecast, and some tech industry leaders believe the situation won’t improve until 2023.

Intel on Thursday announced one of its next major steps in supercomputing platforms: the codenamed Falcon Shores design that will bring general-purpose x86 processor cores and highly parallel compute Xe-HPC GPU cores together into one socket, along shared high-bandwidth memory developed by Intel. The product is expected to arrive in 2024 Bringing together x86 CPU and Xe-HPC GPU resources and into the same socket as well as switching to a unified memory architecture will enable Intel to increase per socket compute density by over five times compared to current platforms (due to new architectures, finer process technologies and the addition of GPU cores), boost memory capacity and bandwidth by more than five times compared to existing designs and upsurge performance per watt by over five times relative to platforms available in February 2022. "We are working on a brand-new architecture codenamed Falcon Shores, [which] will bring x86 and Xe GPU acceleration together into a Xeon socket, taking advantage of next generation packaging, memory and IO technologies, giving huge performance and efficiency improvements for systems computing large data sets and training gigantic AI models," said Raja Koduri, the head of Intel's Accelerated Computing Systems and Graphics Group just hours before the company's Investor Meeting 2022 kicks off. For now, Intel calls its Falcon Shores an XPU to emphasize that it packs two types of compute units: CPUs and GPUs. Intel's Falcon Shores will extensively use Intel's multi-chiplet/modular approach to processor design and will offer a flexible ratio of x86 and Xe-HPC cores possibly depending on a target application. The CPU and GPU tiles are said to be made using an 'Angstrom Era Process', which might mean Intel 25A or Intel 18A, and then connected using Intel's advanced packaging technologies, which will be the key enablers for Falcon Shores. The CPU and GPU will use unified high-bandwidth memory to improve performance and greatly simplify compute GPU programming. Interestingly, Intel even implies on an all-new type of memory developed by Intel, but does not elaborate. "Falcon Shores is built on top of an impressive array of technologies, including an angstrom era process technology, next generation packaging, new extreme bandwidth shared memory being developed by Intel and industry leading I/O," said Koduri. "We have super excited about this architecture as it brings acceleration to much broader range of workloads than the current discrete solutions. Modern supercomputers use general-purpose CPUs to run workloads that require strong single-thread performance as well as compute GPUs accelerators for highly parallel workloads. For now, this architecture has proven to be balanced in terms of performance, power, and costs, but tighter integration of CPU and GPU resources will allow to boost performance even further and will make accelerated computing accessible to more workloads. Intel's Falcon Shores will be one of Intel's major steps towards its goal of enabling ZettaFLOPS-class supercomputers by 2027 goal. To increase performance of supercomputers by 1000 times in five years, Intel says it will need new processing architectures (i.e., improvements of x86 and Xe architectures), new process technologies and advanced packaging methods, faster memory and I/O interfaces (unified extreme bandwidth memory and advanced interconnections/packaging seem to address that), and new system architectures. Falcon Ridge brings together all of the pillars that are required for ZettaFLOPS-class supercomputers, the company says. Beginning with the technology foundation we have today, you need significant revolutionary gains in architecture, in power efficiency and thermal management, in process and packaging technology and in memory and IO capacity and bandwidth," said Koduri. "We have our advanced technology teams already on their way with inventions to pave the path to Zetta-Scal."

new operators and weapons potentially arriving in Vanguard and Warzone Pacific. Call of Duty Season 1 for Vanguard and Warzone Pacific has recently been postponed to December 8, but some of the upcoming weapons and operator skins have apparently leaked from promotional art in PlayStation's database. Just like Modern Warfare and Black Ops Cold War's post-launch content, Call of Duty: Vanguard is set to bring new weapons, operator skins, a new battle pass, and more with seasonal updates. Vanguard's Season 1 is highly-anticipated for Warzone, as this first update will bring the brand-new Caldera map and the Ricochet anti-cheat system According to Twitter account SizePlayStation, Sony's database reveals that the Vanguard Season 1 update has now been added, and the account claims the update size is 40.7 GB on PlayStation 4. From the image shared in the tweet, we can see three new operators and their weapons on an island setting that fits the previously revealed promo images of Warzone Pacific's Caldera map. Other leakers are suggesting two of the weapons in the image are the Welgun and M1944 Hyde Carbine submachine guns, but it's possible these are cosmetic variants of other weapons or some already existing in Vanguard. Leaks should always be taken with a grain of salt, and confirmed content details will likely arrive with an official roadmap closer to the Season 1 start time. In other Call of Duty news, Warzone players can experience the Operation: Flashback limited-time event, which brings back features from previous seasons of Modern Warfare and Black Ops Cold War. This is the first of three events to give Verdansk a final farewell before the new Caldera map arrives.

AMD recently launched it's Radeon RX 6000S RDNA 2 refresh mobile GPU lineup which complicated an already confusing laptop graphics lineup. Now the new benchmarks of the RX 6800S have been leaked and show why it's important to know the difference between the 'M' and 'S' series parts. .AMD Radeon RX 6800S RDNA 2 Refresh Mobile GPU Is 11% Slower Than Radeon RX 6800M GPU The AMD Radeon RX 6000S & Radeon RX 6000M series feature the same branding except for the last word in their nomenclature. While the 'M' parts are designated as the standard variants, the newly announced 'S' parts are designed for slim and power-optimized platforms hence they'll be slower than those standard RDNA 2 mobile GPUs. Not only that, but the parts also have different specifications compared to the standard part which makes the naming scheme more confusing. For example, the leaked AMD Radeon RX 6800S featured on the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 laptop comes with 32 Compute Units, 2048 stream processors, a 1975 MHz game clock, and 8 GB GDDR6 memory operating at 256 GB/s bandwidth. The standard Radeon RX 6800M comes with 40 CUs, 2560 stream processors, a 2300 MHz game clock, & 12 GB GDDR6 memory operating at 384 GB/s bandwidth. Since the 'S' series is TDP optimized, the 6800S operates at up to 100W while the 'M' variant operates beyond 145W. As such, the standard variant delivers 11.78 TFLOPs of peak FP32 performance versus the 9.22 TFLOPs of FP32 performance that the 'S' variant has to offer. With Samsung taking the helm, the world of foldable devices seems to be flourishing recently. We've seen plenty of brands launch their own folding smartphone but at CES 2022, Asus went a step further by unveiling a folding tablet. The Zenbook 17 Fold is, as the name suggests, a 17-inch folding tablet. It can be folded completely over for easy storage, or you can even bend the display at any angle. Asus has crammed in fancy features like AI noise cancellation, Dolby Vision Atoms and Vision for high-end streaming and, surprisingly for a folding tablet, a lot of ports! However, while no price has been announced yet, we would expect the Zenbook 17 Fold to be pretty expensive on its launch.

Cooler Master is holding a product showcase event, celebrating its 30th anniversary, which it calls the Chronos Summit. The event has highlighted a number of interesting new PC hardware delights, and one of the more appealing of these is the Cooler Master GP27-FQS mini LED gaming monitor. The features and specs of the GP27-FQS look very good on paper, but perhaps one of the biggest hooks here is the price, which makes it the cheapest mini LED gaming monitor yet. Charging devices is one of those daily pains that we could all live without, and while battery lives have improved, it is still a regular occurrence. This is a problem Urbanista is attempting to resolve with the Los Angeles headphones. Lined with a solar cell material, these headphones will constantly charge themselves throughout the day as long as there is light. This works both inside and out in the big wide world and theoretically removes the need for chargin Along with the unique charging feature, the Los Angeles headphones also include active noise cancelling, ambient sound mode and voice assistant feature Buy now from Amazon (£154.99), Currys (£169.00) and Jacamo (£169.99 ).s.g..99). This is the first foldable phone that might be worth a go. The first few iterations of foldables were marred with reliability issues and huge price tags. However at £949, this phone is likely to cost as much on contract as the latest Apple or Google devices. There’s no sacrificing on processing power or features to make the phone work at this price either: the Flip3 comes with an octa-core processor inside, plenty of RAM and a 120Hz display. Plus it’s waterproof. Folding the phone will split the display in two, so you can, for example, sit the phone on the table to watch videos. There’s also a small screen on the back so that you can see notifications when your phone is shut. We’d give it a few months to see if anyone reports any hardware issues with the screen, but we personally can’t wait to see what they do with foldable tablets next…
