LIVINGSTON, N.J. (Reuters) - Looking out of his office window, Rabbi Zalman Grossbaum finds it hard to get work done as he watches kids enjoying the miniature town he built for them. Co-founder and CEO of LifeTown Rabbi Zalman Grossbaum reacts in front of a sign displayed in a kitchen in LifeTown, a 53,000-square-foot center dedicated to teaching life skills to children and adults with special needs, in Livingston, New Jersey, U.S. March 2, 2020. REUTERS/Roselle Chen The village of storefronts inside his enclosed “LifeTown” complex in Livingston, New Jersey, lets children with special needs - “special abilities,” Grossbaum insists - hone their social skills, and he always wants to join them. “I feel this magnetic pull to come out here and to be with the kids and experience life with the kids, because there’s something absolutely magical for what happens here,” Grossbaum said standing in the miniature town, known as LifeTown Shoppes. If there is any lingering frustration over the seven years it took to convert the 53,000 square-foot (4,924 square-meter) building into his dream, including a year of construction that stretched into three, Grossbaum does not show it. The 48-year-old rabbi with an early salt-and-pepper beard smiles from beneath his silver-frame glasses as he explains the interactive features of the complex that welcomes children of all faiths, most of whom have physical or intellectual disabilities. And always, he has a story, like when some New York Jets players came in November to help inaugurate LifeTown’s football field and he saw “their whole demeanor changes” as they threw balls and ran plays with kids with autism. “It was equally an opportunity for these players to have that experience as it was for these kids to be playing with NFL players,” he said. Autism is one of the most common conditions for children who visit LifeTown on school trips or with their parents, Grossbaum said. In fact, New Jersey has the country’s highest rate of autism spectrum disorder, with one child in 34 diagnosed with the condition, compared with the national rate of one in 59, according to nonprofit support agency Autism New Jersey.

The German preparer Gemballa is currently working on an extreme SUV based on the Porsche 911, announced through some drawings. What makes the Porsche 911 so charming to most people is above all its sober and timeless style, as well as its performance. Obviously, the designers at Gemballa are not really of the same opinion as ordinary people, as evidenced by the images published on the net for a few days. And for good reason, the German preparer, specialized in modifications based on the famous Stuttgart sportswoman, decided to offer him a style for the least particular, then taking the form of a monster-truck with rather extreme lines. A novelty that should be talked about, when the company across the Rhine, founded in 1981 by Uwe Gemballa will celebrate its 40th birthday next year, after having experienced a lot of setbacks with the justice system. Called Gemballa Avalanche, this concept follows the general lines of the previous Porsche 911 type 991, with its characteristic front face, sculpted hips and recognizable hindquarters. However, the trainer did not just add big wheels to the German sports car, but offered him an impressive body kit, certainly showy, but which would almost make us like elevated vehicles. Straight out of a science fiction film, this 4X4 sports enlarged wheel arches, new shields, as well as a huge rear spoiler and roof scoops. An unusual treatment for the discreet star of the Stuttgart brand, while the preparer announces the serums also possible to transform in the same way the current generation, formalized a few months ago already. Unfortunately, Gemballa has not yet given details on the powertrain that will animate this totally offbeat version of the Porsche 911, which normally carries a 3.0-liter twin-turbo flat-six developing 385 horsepower in its standard Carrera version. In addition, the interior of this 4X4 has not yet been unveiled, but it is assumed that the general presentation will remain close to the normal version, to which will probably be added some more specific details which the German preparer has the secret. Anyway, the sports car will not be the only model of the brand to be modified in this way, since it is also expected that the Porsche Cayenne will receive a similar treatment, with an original model called Tornado 4X4. However, this information must be taken with tweezers, while the health of the preparer remains very fragile. As a reminder, the company has had some problems with the law, the German authorities in particular ordering the seizure of the Gemballa factory in 2010, after the assassination of its founder in a money laundering case that went wrong. In the same year, new CEO Andreas Schwarz and investor Steffen Korbach were able to get the company back on track, however.

Air strikes in eastern Syria have killed 26 Iraqis from an Iran-backed Shia paramilitary force after a deadly attack on US-led coalition forces in Iraq, a monitoring group has said. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said Po[CENSORED]r Mobilisation bases near the border town of Albu Kamal were hit. It was not clear who carried out the strikes. The coalition did not comment. But it followed a rocket attack on Camp Taji military base in Iraq that killed one British and two American soldiers. No group has said it fired the rockets, but a top US commander said they were likely to have been fired by Shia militias in the Po[CENSORED]r Mobilisation. "While we are still investigating the attack, I will note that the Iranian proxy group Kataib Hezbollah is the only group known to have previously conducted an indirect fire attack of this scale against US and coalition forces in Iraq," Central Command chief Gen Kenneth McKenzie told a Senate committee. UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson described the attack as "deplorable", while US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said it would not be tolerated, and that those responsible must be held accountable. The US has accused Iran-backed militias of 13 similar attacks on Iraqi bases hosting coalition forces in the past year. The killing of an American civilian in one such incident in December triggered a round of violence which ultimately led US President Donald Trump to order the assassination of the top Iranian general Qasem Soleimani and Kataib Hezbollah commander Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis the following month. Syrian state news agency Sana said unidentified aircraft "launched an aggression" on Wednesday night on the south-eastern outskirts of Albu Kamal, close to the Syria-Iraq border. The attacks caused only material damage, it added.

As the weekend approaches, there is an urge for fresh air and a cozy interior. The opportunity to (re) discover 6 good films honoring country houses in France. The country house from the film My Idol First film by Guillaume Canet, Mon Idole tells the story of an ambitious young Parisian, who dreams of being a TV presenter. Thinking of reaching his goal, he follows a powerful producer in his country house. A stone's throw from Paris, this architectural nugget with a 70's decoration, a bit crazy, reflects the madness of its owners. A free and uneasy couple looking to have fun at all costs. The bourgeois house of the film Eight Women Lost in the middle of the snowy countryside, the house of the film Eight women by François Ozon ticks all the boxes of the perfect bourgeois mansion from the 50s. Dressed in wallpaper, velvet, caned furniture… It first diffuses an atmosphere comforting plush before turning into a mysterious crime scene.

the Geneva Motor Show will have to contend this year with the prudential measures put in place to deal with the coronavirus epidemic. Despite the defection of large groups such as Ford, Opel, Citroën and Peugeot, the number of exhibitors is increasing. The indoor circuit dedicated to alternative propulsion will be the big novelty of this 90th edition of the Geneva International Motor Show (Gims). “The organization was more complicated due to the coronavirus epidemic. But I can confirm it to you, the Gims will indeed be held, ”assured President Maurice Turrettini. This 90th edition should be launched in the presence of Federal Councilor Guy Parmelin. Up to 600,000 visitors are expected at Palexpo between March 5 and March 15. The 2020 edition will welcome 150 exhibitors, more than the hundred from the previous edition, representing 75% of the market in Switzerland, specify the organizers. So far, 90 premieres (150 in 2019) have been announced for this fair, which will span nearly 59,000 square meters. Among these exclusives, the Hispano-Swiss brand Hispano Suiza will present its Carmen Boulogne model. The Chinese manufacturers Changan Automobile and the Hong Kong Apex (buggies) will make the trip for the first time, despite the epidemic in China. The organizers of another Geneva fair, that of inventions, announced Monday their decision to cancel the 2020 edition following the spread of the coronavirus, the toll of which is approaching 1,900 dead. The Mobile World Congress in Barcelona was forced to make the same decision. Cleaning and disinfection The Gims, of which 1% of the visitors come from the Asian continent, does not abdicate, but will emphasize safety. "We see that there are a lot of concerns related to the coronavirus infection," said Marianne Gyger, public relations manager of the Salon. In an attempt to allay these fears, Palexpo has put in place various security measures, such as an infrastructure “cleaning and disinfection program”, staff training and signage calling participants on hygiene recommendations. The 456-meter internal circuit will be the main innovation of this Gims cuvée 2020. "A long straight track (will be fitted out) to test the acceleration but also turns to see how these vehicles behave," explained Olivier Rihs, the director . The Touring Club Switzerland (TCS) is the partner of Gims for this animation and will ensure its operation. Registrations will be made through the GIMS mobile application. Like many shows, the Gims is facing a drop in attendance and must reinvent itself to always attract crowds. In 2019, the number of visitors decreased by 9% to 602,000 people, while the organizers expected 650,000-700,000 visitors. Some manufacturers also decide to do without shows, for various reasons, such as Ford, Opel, Citroën and Peugeot for the Gims in 2020. As usual, the Show will be preceded by the ceremony which will crown the car of the year, on March 2 at 3 p.m. The organizers announce the holding of 68 conferences during the press days of 3-4 March. A "VIP Day" will be set up for the first time on March 4, with the presence of Formula E (electric car championship) personalities, including Swiss drivers. (ats / nxp)

The head of state paid a surprise visit to the Samu call center at Necker-Enfants Malades hospital on Tuesday, where he said that France was only at the start of the coronavirus epidemic. and that the country was on the threshold of phase 3. "We are at the very beginning of this epidemic" of the coronavirus in France, said Emmanuel Macron, Tuesday March 10, after a surprise visit to the Samu call center (15) of the Necker-Enfants Malades hospital in Paris, which receives approximately 6,000 calls per day. "We are only at the beginning", "we must be clear and lucid", he warned the press, while protective measures have been reinforced at the Elysee Palace around him. One of his closest collaborators, his chief of staff Patrick Strzoda, who was in contact with a positive case, was thus requested to switch to telework. Asked about the transition to phase 3 of protection measures in France, the Head of State explained that they would be differentiated on the territory. "No longer really in phase 2" "We have anticipated, we are under prepared," insisted the French president, who recalled that "85% of cases are mild." However, he acknowledged that "we are no longer really in phase 2" of the state of alert, given the arrangements made in the areas most affected by the virus. The mission of the 15th is to sort between "normal" emergencies and those relating to the coronavirus. This is the case in Mulhouse, a major center of infection in France since a large evangelical gathering in late February. "I think that one should not consider that there will be at some point in our country a great seesaw where everything will change," added Emmanuel Macron, launching calls for individual citizenship. "We have to remain extremely adaptable and at all times according to the differentiation of the territories".

Mazda Australia is pushing upmarket with the new CX-30 model, which we’ve got here in top spec G25 Astina trim. And up against it? The all-new Audi Q3 35 TFSi - its first appearance in a CarsGuide comparison test - and our reigning pint-size premium SUV champion, the Volvo XC40, which we’ve got in entry-level Momentum spec. All three of these models have a starting list price tag in the $40,000 range, and they are all petrol powered, automatic, and two-wheel drive. Both the Audi and Volvo have a bunch of optional extras fitted that nudge their prices considerably, but the Mazda is almost box-fresh. However, we’re aiming to assess these models not so much on the glittery added bits, but the way they perform in other ways. We’ll assess each of these models against a range of criteria to help you decide which deserves to be on your shopping list. Let’s get to it.

Bring a full kettle to the boil. Using damp hands, roll a heaped tablespoon of mince into balls and fatten slightly (this helps them to cook more evenly). Repeat with remaining mince (mixture will make about 20 meatballs). Heat a drizzle of oil in a large fry-pan on medium heat and cook meatballs in batches for 2 minutes each side until cooked through. Set aside and cover with tinfoil to keep warm. While meatballs are cooking, place noodles in a large, heat-proof bowl and cover with boiling water. Leave to soak for 8 minutes, drain, rinse under cold water and drain again. Combine dressing ingredients in bowl used to cook noodles, add slaw mix, tomato and mint and toss to combine. To Serve, divide noodle salad between plates and top with meatballs.

Austria has announced a ban on Italians entering the country unless they carry a medical certificate, in an attempt to stop coronavirus spreading. Speaking after the Italian government imposed travel restrictions across the country, Chancellor Sebastian Kurz said Austrians returning from Italy would have to self-isolate for two weeks. Austria has seen 158 cases of coronavirus so far. Mr Kurz said the number was still very low but the disease was deadly. Austria and Italy share a border north of Italy's South Tyrol region. On Tuesday, South Tyrol, in common with the rest of Italy, closed all cultural centres and restricted access to bars and cafes to daytime hours. Italy's nationwide lockdown limits travel to those with "verifiable work requirements or situations of necessity". All sporting events have been suspended, and schools and universities have been shut until 3 April. Employees have been urged either to work from home or take annual leave. Hotel and tourist accommodation operators in South Tyrol have ended their winter holiday season early and agreed to delay the spring tourist season.

Around 80 foreigners who were quarantined for weeks in the North Korean capital, Pyongyang, have finally left the country. The Air Koryo flight to Vladivostok is the first commercial flight to leave North Korea in over a month, said specialist news site NK News. Flight KOR271 landed in the far-eastern Russian city on Monday morning. The embassy staff who left had been confined to their compounds for weeks during February and early March. Among those onboard were diplomats from Germany, Russia, France, Switzerland, Poland, Romania, Mongolia and Egypt, Russia's embassy in North Korea said in a Facebook post. Russia said it had issued visas to diplomats and "representatives of international and national humanitarian organisations... as well as foreign businessmen". North Korea quarantined hundreds of foreigners in the capital earlier this year, in an attempt to stop the coronavirus from breaking out. Russian ambassador Alexander Matsegora described the conditions as "morally crushing". There have been no reported cases of coronavirus in North Korea, though some experts have cast doubt on this. North Korea borders China, where the virus emerged, and South Korea, where there has been a major outbreak. Flight KOR271 left Pyongyang at 08:40 local time on Monday (23:40 on Sunday) and arrived in Vladivostok at 10:47, said flight tracking site FlightAware. It's not known how or when the passengers will return to their home countries. The British ambassador to North Korea tweeted early on Monday that he was "sad to say farewell to colleagues from [the] Germany Embassy and French Office". Colin Crooks added that other embassies were closing temporarily but that the British embassy would remain open North Korea had previously quarantined around 380 foreigners - mostly diplomats and staff in Pyongyang - in their compounds for at least 30 days. It lifted the restrictions last week after more than a month. Swedish ambassador Joachim Bergstrom reacted by tweeting a selfie with the caption: "I have never been happier standing on Kim ll Sung Square." However, foreigners' interactions with locals were still restricted, said NK News, as they were not allowed to visit restaurants, shops, gyms and hotels in the city. There are concerns that North Korea, which is subject to international sanctions, lacks the health infrastructure to test and treat those infected. The number of infections worldwide is more than 107,000, with about 3,600 deaths.
