  1. The dream home for Star Wars fans is now on the market in Texas. But the path to the dark side is not cheap. Known as "The Darth Vader House," the 7,000 square-foot home in Houston's West University Place subdivision has a listing price of $4,300,000. The nickname comes from the exterior's resemblance to the helmet of the famed Star Wars villain. With an 18,000 square foot lot, the force is strong with this one. 'Star Wars' script revealing how plot twist was kept secret sells for $32K 'Star Wars' script revealing how plot twist was kept secret sells for $32K The median lot square feet for West University Place is 7,500 -- just about the size of this home. Home values in the area range between $805,000 and $2.7 million -- far, far away from this price tag. The house was built in 1992 and features four bedrooms, five full bathrooms and a four-car garage. The listing by Martha Turner Sotheby's International Realty also boasts the contemporary home's open rooms, ample closets, versatile living spaces and massive windows. So the dark side may not be so dark after all
  2. Knockout City is getting patch 1.2 later this week, in addition to the season one, week three playlist update, which brings a new game mode on June 8, Coin Hoarders. In a blog post, Velan Studios gave a quick overview of the next week in Knockout City, including a brief description of patch 1.2, with the full patch notes coming later. The blog post discusses three highlights from the upcoming patch, which include reducing the likelihood of players getting put into high ping matches. It also addresses a bug that plays the match audio before you load in when joining a match in progress. The other highlight is that mouse and keyboard settings will no longer reset whenever the game is closed. The new game mode, Coin Hoarders, is a 3v3 objective-based mode where teams must collect and hold eight coins placed around the map. Each player can hold up to three coins and are dropped whenever a player is knocked out. Teams win the round whenever they hold all eight coins at once and two rounds win the match. Coin Hoarders will be added when season one, week 3 starts on June 8. The new week also adds new contracts for players to complete and items to buy. This update releases on the heel of the arcade-style dodgeball game reaching over 5 million players during the game's Block Party, a ten-day free trial. While the full game trial has ended, new players can check out the game for free up to level 25.
  3. Quantum Launches ActiveScale 6.0 SAN JOSE, Calif., June 25, 2021 — Quantum Corporation announced a new release of ActiveScale object storage software that reshapes the way organizations store, manage, and extract value from their growing stores of unstructured data. ActiveScale 6.0 software delivers unlimited scalability, and consistent performance at any scale without compromising data availability, durability, and security. This software is now available as a subscription on qualified platforms including the new ActiveScale X200 platform, a simplified and converged system platform that delivers high-density, high-capacity storage in a small footprint. ActiveScale 6.0 software is also now available for purchase through Supermicro, giving customers more purchasing options and flexibility to deploy ActiveScale software on the platform of their choice. Quantum Solves Exabyte-Scale Data Management Challenges with ActiveScale 6.0 Software and New Object Storage Platform “The acceleration toward digital transformation is also accelerating data growth, and we want our customers to have the tools they need to use data to drive their businesses forward,” said Jamie Lerner, president and CEO, Quantum. “The seamless scalability of our ActiveScale software positions them to use their data, regardless of how much there is, to its greatest potential – whether they’re making new scientific discoveries, identifying the business trends that give them a competitive edge, or delivering the next mega hit to the big screen.” Innovations in genomics, AI/ML, earth and space sciences, and the use of video are driving explosive data growth. IT and data center managers are challenged to not only affordably store this data but also keep this data easily accessible for ongoing research, remodeling, and reuse. ActiveScale 6.0 and the new X200 platform meet this need with simple, high-performance access at greater system density, increasing user productivity and greatly reducing overall management, power and infrastructure costs. The new ActiveScale 6.0 software provides unlimited expansion of capacity, processing, and object count, making it easy to grow and manage massive data. With ActiveScale, organizations can seamlessly expand compute, networking, and storage resources for consistent performance at scale with no performance tuning or rebalancing required. The unique, two-layer software architecture optimizes flash and disk resources, employing real-time heuristics to dynamically place data across all system resources in parallel for maximum efficiency and balanced long-term performance. This is in direct contrast to other object storage solutions that employ static or deterministic data layout policies that directly lead to hotspots and rebalancing tasks that overwhelm the system as it grows. Quantum’s ActiveScale X200 object storage platform is a new, simplified and converged system platform, benefitting from the latest generation of high-density, high-capacity server technologies. Within a standard data center rack, as compared to the previous generation platform, an X200 three-module ActiveScale object storage cluster now supports: 78% greater storage density (14.6 petabytes raw), up to 7X greater sustained throughput (up to 51 gigabytes per second), and 6X more objects (30 billion) These greater capabilities reduce overall system footprint and simplify deployment in both large and small configurations. When scaling out with the new platform, capacity, performance and object count are unlimited, creating a unified system cluster that grows to exabytes of capacity and billions of objects. Current ActiveScale customers benefit with the ability to easily expand their existing ActiveScale clusters with the new platform. The ActiveScale X200 joins the recently announced ActiveScale P100E3 entry object storage platform. With the expanded portfolio, ActiveScale systems can be deployed from hundreds of terabytes to hundreds of exabytes and beyond. ActiveScale 6.0 software and the X200 platform are available now. 5. Collection methods like nasopharyngeal and oropharyngeal swab collection require technical expertise and they are also time-consuming, said Krishna Khairnar, senior scientist, Environmental Virology Cell at NEERI. (Express Photo: Amit Mehra) The National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI) has developed a simple and fast method of swab collection and processing for RT-PCR coronavirus test which could be used in rural and tribal areas. The method is simple, fast, cost-effective, patient-friendly and comfortable, the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) said. It is well-suited for rural and tribal areas, given minimal infrastructure requirements, it said. The Nagpur-based NEERI is a constituent laboratory of CSIR. Krishna Khairnar, senior scientist, Environmental Virology Cell at NEERI, said the swab collection method requires time. Moreover, since it is an invasive technique, it is a bit uncomfortable for patients. ALSO READ |COVID 19: Patients with digestive issues in recovery phase ‘increasing at an alarming rate’, says expert “Sometime, it is also lost in the transport of the sample to the collection centre. On the other hand, the Saline Gargle RT-PCR method is instant, comfortable and patient-friendly. Sampling is done instantly and results will be generated within three hours,” he said. The method is non-invasive and so simple that a patient can collect the sample himself, said Khairnar. Collection methods like nasopharyngeal and oropharyngeal swab collection require technical expertise and they are also time-consuming. In contrast, the Saline Gargle RT-PCR method uses a simple collection tube filled with saline solution, he said. The patient gargles the solution and rinses it inside the tube. This sample in the collection tube is taken to the laboratory where it is kept at room temperature, in a special buffer solution prepared by NEERI. An RNA template is produced when this solution is heated, which is further processed for Reverse Transcription-Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR). This particular method of collecting and processing the sample enables to save on the otherwise costly infrastructural requirement of RNA extraction. The method is environment-friendly as well, since waste generation is minimised, Khairnar said. The Nagpur Municipal Corporation has given permission to go ahead with the method, following which testing has begun at NEERI, the CSIR said.
  6. Rabat - Morocco and Sudan intend to strengthen already close ties as Sudan continues to support Morocco’s Autonomy Plan for Western Sahara. Morocco’s Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita spoke to his Sudanese colleague Mariam Al-Sadeq Al-Mahdi via teleconference on Friday, June 4. Rabat - Morocco and Sudan intend to strengthen already close ties as Sudan continues to support Morocco’s Autonomy Plan for Western Sahara. Morocco’s Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita spoke to his Sudanese colleague Mariam Al-Sadeq Al-Mahdi via teleconference on Friday, June 4. The two representatives lauded the fraternal ties that Sudan and Morocco have long enjoyed. Sudan is in a transitory phase, after having resolved a decades long listing on a US list of nations supporting terrorism. The designation hampered Sudan’s ability to make international agreements and further development, something the nation is now aiming to rapidly make up for. The meeting between Bourita and Al-Sadeq Al-Mahdi therefore came at an opportune time as the two nations have much to offer each other in terms of bilateral trade and development. Morocco’s foreign minister congratulated Sudan on its new designation, emphasizing that this opens new possibilities for Sudan’s reentry into the global economy. Sudan has supported Morocco’s territorial integrity and its autonomy plan for Western Sahara as the way to achieve peace in the region, a position that Bourita welcomed. Morocco and Sudan will increase cooperation by establishing new bilateral agreements intended to modernize the existing framework in order to “breathe new life” into the two nations’ economic and development efforts. Existing bilateral agreements will be updated to assist in boosting agriculture as well as supporting state-building efforts in Sudan. Sudan’s foreign minister thanked Morocco for its ongoing efforts in training Sudanese officials to build the country’s institutional capacity and the exchange of knowledge and expertise. © Morocco World News. Ghali was scheduled to attend a virtual witness hearing in Spain’s National High Court on Tuesday, June 1. The summon forced Ghali to remain in Logrono and Spain assured Morocco that the Polisario leader would remain within its borders until after the hearing. However, according to Spanish news outlet OkDiario, Ghali planned to leave ahead of his trial and attend the virtual hearing from Algeria. The Spanish publication goes on to add that the Moroccan foreign ministry may have had an impact on Ghali’s early departure. “If Ghali departs in an opaque way, as it entered, the situation between the two countries will become even more complicated,” states OkDiario in a paraphrased statement from the ministry. Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Bourita was direct in his message to Spain in matters concerning Brahim Ghali. “In the event that the Polisario leader leaves Spanish territory without hindrance in the same way he acceded to it, our bilateral relationship would not fail to deteriorate very sharply.” Spanish air traffic controllers rerouted an Algerian government aircraft over Ibiza on Tuesday and denied the plane access to Spanish airspace due to the lack of a permit. However, Spanish government officials provided the media multiple varying excuses to deny that the plane was coming to retrieve Ghali early. Read also: Self-Contradiction in Spanish Government Surrounding Algerian Plane The OkDiario report notes that Morocco’s interference in Ghali’s departure forced Algeria and Spain to devise a backup plan. Some analysts speculated whether or not Algeria fronted the bill for Ghali’s flight aboard a private airline.

  8. Five years ago, the Battlefield Easter Egg Community believed they had stumbled upon something big. After discovering morse code hidden within the Battlefield 1 MCOM radios, a dedicated myth-hunting team went about attempting to decipher it, but struggled to make head or tail of the message inside. "We had one last desperate hope," explains HotelMama, a leading figure within the Battlefield Easter Egg [BFEE] network. "The game's MCOMs are actually designed after [Italian inventor Guglielmo] Marconi's telegram machines, and because he also invented a code to go with it, we wanted to get our hands on a code book. There were only super rare hard copies available, so we bought one." Unfortunately, before the pricey purchase had even made its way into the community's hands, DICE tweaked the morse code in an unexpected patch, and this time the translation was disappointingly clear: "Message corrupted, await further instructions". "This basically meant that there was no functional Easter egg, and we had bought a super expensive code book just for the heck of it," HotelMama continues. "To not waste it totally, we decided to organise a world tour, sending the book not only to both DICE studios in Los Angeles and Sweden to be signed by the developers, but to select members of the community which had chimed in on the costs. We call it the Marconi Bible, but it's basically lore that never actually helped us in solving anything!" Shark tale Established in 2016, the Battlefield Easter Egg Community is now over 40,000 members strong, committed to solving and uncovering the series' ever growing number of secrets and ARGs. But while Battlefield has a long and storied history of hiding various Easter eggs within its multiplayer maps, it's the megalodons – giant, prehistoric sharks who roamed the oceans millions of years ago – that have offered the most visually memorable surprises of all. People who've never even played Battlefield will likely have heard of the megalodons, showing up across multiple games since their first appearance in Battlefield 4, and making headlines every time a new sighting is discovered. There's a reason the Jurassic shark made the cut as the inspiration for the BFEE's official emblem, after all. "They're a recurring theme, and basically a mascot to DICE as much as us hunters at this point," says HotelMama. Despite their gargantuan size, the megalodons have been notoriously difficult to summon, involving a multi-step process that can only be undertaken by groups of players working together in a private server. This is after the community has figured out how to summon the shark in the first place, of course, which itself takes a lot of collective deduction, time-intensive experimentation, and forensic scouring of the teasers that DICE's development team put out on social media. "The first step is searching for anything out of the ordinary," explains HotelMama of the hunt. "This is especially the case with game updates, as anything that has changed is immediately suspect. Once someone has found a point of interest, we start throwing everything at it (literally and figuratively) until something goes click or boom. Usually, Easter eggs have a very strong 'this is it' feel to them: once you see it, it's undeniably on purpose and not just 'those four pixels look like an arrow'. Once you can predict how an Easter egg behaves, you've cracked its mechanics. Even these are to be taken with a grain of salt, though, as some are simply bound to random generation." If this exhaustive process sounds like a slog, BFEE member KopaTroopa123 is keen to stress the contrary: "The experience of being involved in the hunt is a huge rush! Being there and finding pieces of the puzzle or putting them together is a genuine build of excitement and adrenaline. Figuring it out can get mundane, but when you're chatting and joking with friends, it isn't boring – you're just spending time hanging out with your buddies!" "It's not just about the end result of finding the Easter egg, but the journey along the way," adds BFEE hunter PergySkeel. "The laughter and jokes shared, the frustration and the banter, the theories over the wild ideas of what the Easter egg could be or how to solve it, [and] the thrill of the chase. I've made many friends along the way, too. We send each other holiday cards and birthday gifts, use our real names, send text messages, and share about our families. Gaming in general is about bringing people together, and when you add in an additional passion for solving morse code, puzzles, chasing crazy Dan Brown-type conspiracy theories, you get bonded to one another." Fish out of water Indeed, despite the last Battlefield game releasing over two and a half years ago, the Battlefield Easter Egg Community is as active as ever, whether sharing stories and new discoveries on Discord, jumping into a server together to follow the latest leads, or just reactivating fan-favourite Easter eggs, helping newcomers obtain some of the exclusive rewards that come from doing so, such as special outfits or dog tags. Dice continues to engage positively with BFEE, too, to the point where the community's achievements are now immortalised in some of the best Battlefield games with their very own Easter eggs inspired by its members. With Battlefield 6 set to launch later this year, the community is now anticipating a busy Holiday season, as DICE's next-gen title will no doubt come packed with a veritable basket of new Easter eggs to find. Whether that basket includes a megalodon is anyone's guess, but given the shark's fondness for the oceans, puddles, and rivers of DICE's multiplayer battlefields, it's probably best to keep both eyes open when going for a dip in the upcoming game's digital waters. "One of the best parts of Easter egg hunting is simply seeing what DICE comes up with next," says HotelMama. "I'm excited to just wait and see what happens!" 9. Why Your Supply Chain Software Has to be User-Friendly When it comes to supply chain software, companies are quickly learning that user experience or “UX” is everything. Put simply, it doesn’t matter how much a company invests in technology systems that provide all of the latest bells and whistles, if employees either don’t know how to use it – or, if they simply won’t use it – then those supply chain solutions will gather “virtual” dust in the corner as workers go back to their old ways of doing things. Digital Natives’ Expectations This is particularly true for the younger generations who are entering the workforce, and who know a good (or, bad) user interface when they see one. These digital natives grew up with mobile phones, devices, and applications in their hands, and expect the same experience with their business technology. Related Content: Code obfuscation Code Obfuscation: What it is and should You Use It? As the Baby Boomers continue to retire—and as they take their memories of using IBM Green Screens with them—Generations Y and Z are becoming the next supply chain managers and leaders. These new entrants to the field expect to have technology tools that make their jobs faster, easier, and more accurate. Professional and End-User Friendly “Making things as easy as possible for the end user is the best way to ensure successful adoption and use of any new communication tool,” InformationWeek states. “While organizations are understandably keen to arm workers with the best technology to boost productivity, end users’ needs aren’t the only priority. Throughout the evaluation process, it’s important to remember that the user interface (UI) is just as vital for IT professionals as it is for the end user when it comes to adoption.” What is UX? As the name implies, UX is all about creating an immersive experience for the user while keeping costs of development and implementation under control. In the context of software development, user experience looks like something focused purely on design and entertainment. “UX has become a cornerstone of custom software development. Companies aiming to develop customer-facing software use this as a top competitive advantage, while those creating enterprise applications for internal use have learned to pay attention to this dimension to improve user acceptance of new software,” UX Planet explains. “This is no longer just a nice-to-have layer added at the end of the development cycle, but a significant aspect included right from the design phase.” It’s important to note that where user interface (UI) is the collection of tangible elements that allow a user to interact with an application or website, UX is not defined by a specific set of visual objects, but rather what the user takes away from interacting with those visual objects that make up the experience. In this sense, UX is all about the subjective, internal feelings of the user. For example: -How does the experience leave users feeling? -Are users empowered or inhibited? -Are users engaged or distracted? -Are users encouraged or frustrated? “In a world where we spend most of our workday interacting with technology,” bakertilly writes, “shouldn’t we at least feel empowered, engaged, and encouraged while we are doing it?” Functional, Intuitive, and Easy to Use When supply chain software has a good UX, the typical user can learn the program by simply using it, rather than reading a manual or taking lessons. For example, a program with intuitive icons and simple menu bar options may be easy for a new user to understand, TechTerms points out. “However, if a developer creates a program with non-standard icons and complex menu options, it will make the program less intuitive, likely resulting in a negative user experience.” Efficiency is maximized when a solution such as a WMS enables users to streamline their processes in the easiest way possible. Find out more about ease of use and results, click here. A product that provides a positive user experience is: -Functional: It does what it says it can do. -Intuitive: The program was built with a friendly interface. -Easy to use: It doesn’t make it too hard on the user. -Reliable: It’s there when the user needs it. -Enjoyable: The software is easy and fun to use. When shopping around for supply chain solutions, such as WMS, look for user-friendly software that not only comprises functionalities that can benefit the user, but also makes it easy for users to access all its features. “The goal of efficient software development is to make the product reliable and compatible for end-users,” software development firm Rezaid states. “To deliver an excellent user experience, it is important to know your users well.” As companies continue to invest in digital supply chain technologies to increasingly automate the supply chain, the ones that put their users first will surely get the best return on investment (ROI) and results from those applications. By seeking out software that features intuitive, easy-to-learn interfaces, companies can more readily integrate those new solutions into their busy operations without missing a beat. Those that ignore this advice may find themselves up against a formidable force when it comes to putting new innovation to work in their supply chains. Generix Group North America provides a series of solutions within our Supply Chain Hub product suite to create efficiencies across an entire supply chain. Our solutions are in use around the world and our experience is second-to-none. We invite you to contact us to learn more.
  10. MSI has teased its upcoming limited edition graphics card, the GeForce RTX 30 SUPRIM 35th Anniversary Edition which commemorates MSI's 35 years in the tech industry. MSI Teases GeForce RTX 30 SUPRIM 35th Anniversary Graphics Card, Supremely Limited Edition Variant The MSI GeForce RTX 30 SUPRIM 35th Anniversary Edition graphics card is going to be a limited edition product. The graphics card has the same design as the existing SUPRIM series cards but includes engraved sketches of past-generation Twin Frozr graphics cards in the backplate & the shroud which gives it a more premium look. MSI isn't telling which specific variant of the GeForce RTX 30 series lineup this card would be based upon but to celebrate a grand launch such as this, the card should either be an RTX 3080 Ti or the RTX 3090. The card is powered by triple 8-pin connectors, has a dual-bios design, & features great RGB lighting. Following are some details on the MSI SUPRIM X series with Tri Frozr 2S cooling: MSI GeForce RTX 30 SUPRIM 35th Anniversary Edition Graphics Card Cooling & Design MSI has incorporated and refined a couple of things in the new Tri Frozr design for SUPRIM X which is now referred to as Tri Frozr 2S while the Gaming X Trio variants feature the Tri Frozr 2 cooling. First is the TORX fan 4.0 which uses a ring design that connects two fan-blades with each other to increase airflow towards the internal heatsink assembly. These fans are made up of a double ball bearing design which ensures silent functionality in heavy loads. In addition to the cooling fans, the new VIP heatsink has been designed to be denser by using the brand new wave curved 2.0 fin design. The new heatsink makes use of deflectors to allow more air to pass through the fins smoothly, without causing any turbulence that would result in unwanted noise. MSI estimates a 2 degrees (C) drop in temperatures with the updated design versus the previous generation cooling system

  13. The effect of technology, on the beauty and lifestyle industry, has exponentially increased its market share - and then some! As of 2020, the beauty and lifestyle market segmentation has been valued at over $532 billion dollars. Adding over two billion digital buyers to the list, the beauty and lifestyle industry has seemingly reached its golden years. In the coming years, without a shadow of a doubt, the market value is bound to reach new heights. Modifications in technology has opened-up the beauty and lifestyle market to a world of vast and quite often unfamiliar opportunities. In fact, over the last 5 years, beyond digital payment gateways, customer relationship management, and global marketing, technology has been the catalyst by helping quadruple the market value— currently reaching an annual growth rate of 27%. The digital revolution in the luxury retail market is taking flight: In June 2017, luxury brand leader LVMH launched its online retail store named 24 Sevres. In addition, the global powerhouse named their e-commerce portal after their brick and mortar store - which is situated in the heart of Paris. Luxury fashion noteworthy players such as Far-fetch, Yoox, and Net-A-Porter have all seemingly taken significant roles in implementing the digital revolution to new heights. In fact, they many times invest tremendously in premium content and technology— to cover wider audiences and market share. More to the point, the beauty and luxury market is perfectly aligned to E-commerce. The reason for the alignment, when promoted online, is that there is a wider scope of potential customers and brand awareness. MORE FOR YOU Bitcoin Price Prediction: Why Bitcoin Could Rocket To $400,000 In 2021 API Stack: The Billion Dollar Opportunities Redefining Infrastructure, Services & Platforms Breakout Smartphone Quarter: Apple, Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo All Grow More Than 40% Recently, I had a short yet exclusive interview with Jun Li, Founder of ONTology, a company that addresses itself as the blockchain for self-sovereign ID and data, (Their OScore product launched the very first credit scoring system in blockchain history. Another great feat is their partnership with Daimler Mobility, parent of Mercedes Benz) on how technologies like Blockchain influences today’s ever changing fashion beauty and luxury market. Joseph DeAcetis: In your words, how is blockchain technology aiding the fashion and beauty luxury market today? Jun Li: There are a multitude of ways blockchain affects the luxury market. With all premium markets, such as beauty or luxury, the verification of authenticity is of vital importance. You would be able to track the manufacturer and verify the item you are transacting with through the power of blockchain technology. But more importantly, you would be able to trace and verify the supply chain process. In a field like luxury, changes are being made constantly, especially towards a greener, eco-friendly solution. You can track this change from a raw material standpoint, moving along the supply chain until the bag is sitting on a shelf in your Louis Vuitton store. This gives luxury brands a new processing method of signaling to their users where they stand on key issues revolving around raw materials and the supply chain. In addition, we have included a decentralized identity layer protection for luxury NFT’s as we envision this space to grow exponentially soon. It allows companies to quickly migrate and store data on our blockchain through our data attestation service which reduces their data storage fees. JD: Talk to Forbes about whether or not advancements in technology will signal change in the beauty, lifestyle, and luxury markets? If so, what role does Ontology play in this light? Jun Li: The beauty of decentralized identity being a core principle at Ontology is that it can be extrapolated and applied in a variety of fields, including the luxury market. For starters, luxury is about taste and personal preferences. It is a form of signaling, or more accurately, a form of signaling your identity. Through decentralization, we can attribute your taste in luxury and beauty markets to who you truly are — your identity. In terms of application, being able to track accurately your history of purchases reveals a certain part of you, while protecting your actual identities such as your name, weight, eye colour, or other elements that get biased in the beauty space. Imagine Sephora or Louis Vuitton knowing who you are at an identity level, without being able to access your sensitive data points. They would be able to better accustom what your luxury and beauty needs are, such as which toner is more suited for you based on previous transactions made, rather than just how you are feeling at the moment. This removes stigma and biases affected on a retail level and instead allows them to better accommodate you on an identity level while having it protected through decentralization. Also, our data attestation service can be utilized for fast and cheap alternatives. High-tech is giving the beauty and luxury industries a complete makeover Technology is constantly evolving, and so is consumer demand for speed and efficient service. In the near future, businesses will need to find more efficient ways to satisfy consumer demand. In an industry with an estimated worth over $532 billion, the beauty industry has been cautious in keeping up with technological advancements. And keeping up is what it’s all about in the 2020’s. Given all technology that’s available today, there hasn’t been too much penetration in the beauty market by advanced technology such as AI. But all that is about to change. As tech-forward companies are implementing AI and other novel technology solutions to promote E-commerce businesses. Novomind is a tech company leveraging intelligent software to promote e-commerce brands in the luxury sector. “Our e-commerce software is designed to enable the display of such details that make the aesthetic difference, such as large product images, 3-D videos, detailed product information, and content links for storytelling. Visitors immediately notice if a website is of high quality, and thus get an entirely different feeling when browsing through it compared to an average e-commerce store,” Sylvia Tantzen, CMO of Novomind AG, explained. AI can take insane amounts of data and turn it into bite-sized, digestible, easy to understand relevant information. It can successfully streamline strenuous processes and solve complex problems. With the help of AI, E-commerce fashion retail processes can be automated. Things like chatbots, churn predictions, product recommendation, better understanding customer preference, offering personalized solutions, enabling virtual product trials and manufacturing customer-centric products and a host of others are all possible now because of AI. FinTech: creating bigger opportunities for lifestyle brands There is without a doubt an upward trend in the use of mobile smartphones to shop for luxury items. According to Mckinsey, at least 95% of consumers of luxury are equipped with mobile phones. Moreover, in some countries as much as 100%. Thus, marketers understand that if they will dominate the market there has to be a way to ride on technology’s influence. Innovators like Globalytics Tech Research have seen this opportunity and have provided online shoppers with the opportunity to pay for items through financial technology and AI. GTR is a fintech company that connects its clients with global service providers using its STAR technology. The company sells its services on a subscription model (SaaS) and invests the pool of the profit into new opportunities, which is then distributed back to clients. How tech will change beauty and lifestyle for good I am amazed when I see luxury brands transitioning into modernity both in style and in business. Another tech company leveraging decentralized technology is Uberstate. This tech brand provides more than a wealth management system. Uberstate uses its mobile app to provide users services like wealth calculators and smart wallets for their funds which they can spend anywhere which enables users to monitor and control their digital assets and cryptocurrencies within the decentralized market. So, it is only a matter of time before traditional luxury brands will have to embrace the tech world and stop seeing tech innovations, most especially E-commerce as a major threat to their brand story and the production of contraband products. If they remain in the market and maintain their brand authority, the only choice they have right now is to integrate online selling, AI features, and digitized payments into their strategy to keep up with the increasing demands of the market.
  14. 3 things to know 63.1 percent of Minnesotans 16 and older with at least one vaccine dose; 56 percent — more than 2.4 million people — are now completely vaccinated New cases trending at lowest level since late September; hospitalizations trending near two-month low Minnesota tops 5 million doses administered, but vaccination pace still languishing Updated: 11:35 a.m. For the first time in more than two weeks, Minnesota is averaging more than 40,000 COVID-19 vaccinations each day. That increasing vaccination rate is driven by a big rise in reported first vaccine doses — now averaging more than 17,000 a day, up from fewer than 10,000 a day a week ago. Backlogged data reported in recent days accounts for some, but not all of that rise. It remains to be seen whether the recent uptick is a brief blip, or something lasting, as the state works to break out of what had been several weeks of sluggish vaccination numbers. Minnesota was averaging 60,000 shots a day at one point last month before the numbers began dropping. Meanwhile, the state reported nine more COVID-19 deaths and 599 more cases on Saturday. Averaged over the past week, the number of new cases each day is at its lowest point since September. Projections by MPR News data reporter David Montgomery Here are Minnesota’s latest COVID-19 statistics: 7,363 deaths (9 new) 598,327 positive cases; 98 percent off isolation 63.1 percent of Minnesotans 16 and older with at least one vaccine dose; 56 percent completely vaccinated Sign upAnalysis of COVID-19 data in Minnesota Get vaccinatedHow to get a COVID-19 shot in Minnesota Top headlinesFrom MPR News Tracking the spreadCOVID-19 in Minnesota Active cases, hospitalizations trending down Despite concerns around the vaccination rate, the overall pandemic picture remains solid. The state has recorded 598,327 total confirmed or probable cases so far in the pandemic, including the 599 posted Friday — the seventh consecutive day of fewer than 1,000 new cases. About 98 percent of Minnesotans known to be infected with COVID-19 in the pandemic have recovered to the point where they no longer need to isolate.
  15. Valheim is a very successful survival game despite it only being an early release, but how does its map size compare to that of other survival games? Although Valheim has only been around for almost three months, it has already gathered a lot of attention from players interested in survival games. In this game by Iron Gate Studios, players have to prove themselves worthy of entering Valhalla by surviving in the dangerous land of Valheim. While this sandbox game is not officially released yet, Valheim has already become one of the most played games on Steam. However, the full release is expected to have considerable improvements including finishing some of the biomes. The game's map is approximately 314 square kilometers already, and it takes a little over four hours to cross it by foot. There is no question Valheim's map is big, but how big is it compared to other survival games? Facepunch Studios' Rust is another survival game that was fully released in 2018. This game is a multiplayer-only title, in which players have to watch their back for other users who might be roaming the area. The game's map is procedurally generated to further ensure uniqueness. On its early release, Rust's map was about 3.95 square feet. This means the island players get to explore in Rust is a little big bigger than the land of Valheim but still pretty similar in size. Another similarity between the two maps is that they are procedurally generated which means players will get to see a different map every time they start a new game. Minecraft Ever since its release in 2011, Minecraft has been a huge success. Players of all ages continue to play the game to this day, and it does not seem like they will stop any time soon. One of the reasons that Mojang's game has become so po[CENSORED]r is that Minecraft's map is extremely big, randomly generated, and it changes every new game. This is exciting because of the sandbox nature of Minecraft which means players will get to build in different settings every time. Comparing Minecraft to Valheim is a little bit different because Minecraft worlds are usually measured per block. Minecraft worlds are considered "infinite" because they do not have hard limits but get buggier as the player gets further and further away from the spawning site. The biggest world is 5120 square blocks and each block is a square meter, meaning the biggest Minecraft world is 55111.22 square feet making it considerably bigger than Valheim's map. One of the features that made this game so po[CENSORED]r is the attractiveness of No Man's Sky extremely big world. This title by Hello Games was highly anticipated, but it went through a rough start as the game was buggy. Still, No Man's Sky has continued to improve making the game more attractive. This space-set game generates planets procedurally as well. The game has over 18 quintillion planets meaning is about 20 times bigger than Minecraft's world. Some of its planets alone can be 9000 square miles. Some approximations say that it would take over 500 billion years to explore the full world, and while this is likely, maybe, hopefully an exaggeration, this game's map is considerably bigger than Valheim's. Valheim is available now for PC.

  17. This is one of the worst times in recent history to buy a new gaming PC, with graphics cards and CPUs in short supply, and RAM prices expected to rise over the next few months. Despite all the doom and gloom, a decent sale occasionally appears, like this discount on a PC with an Intel Core i5 CPU and GTX 1660 Super graphics card for $1,000. That's $100 off the normal price, and one of the better PC deals we've seen recently. This desktop PC from ABS has an Intel Core i5-10400F processor, an Nvidia GTX 1660 Super graphics card, 16GB of RAM, and a 500GB SSD. Windows 10 Home is pre-installed, and like any self-respecting desktop, there are some internal RGB lights and a tempered glass side panel. With that hardware, you'll be able to play most modern games at 1080p or 1440p with no issues at all. The card can even handle some titles at 4K, though not at high framerates. Check out our GTX 1660 Super review for some benchmarks and helpful comparisons. Newegg says the sale ends after today. (Posted: 5/10)VIEW DEAL There's no denying that this isn't the best sale in the world, as desktops with similar hardware were going for closer to $850 just seven months ago. However, CPU and GPU shortages are ramping up prices across the board. If you definitely want a new gaming PC, this is one of the better discounts we've seen recently. 20. Wisconsin wildlife officials have opened a wolf season after hunting advocates sued to move the start date up from November amid fears that the Biden administration might restore protections for the animals Via AP news wire Monday 22 February 2021 19:19 Wolf Hunt Wolf Hunt (Copyright 2018 The Associated Press. All rights reserved.) Wisconsin wildlife officials opened a wolf season Monday after hunting advocates sued to move the start date up from November amid fears that the Biden administration might restore protections for the animals. The hunt will run through Sunday across six management zones. The DNR set the kill limit at 200 animals, with 119 allocated to the state and the other 81 allocated to Wisconsin's Chippewa tribes as per treaty agreements. However, the Chippewa regard the wolf as sacred and will not hunt it, leaving the working kill limit at 119. The DNR estimates that there are at least 1,000 wolves in Wisconsin and its aim is to maintain a po[CENSORED]tion of 350. The agency issued 2,380 permits, or 20 times its kill limit for non-tribal members. Department officials said Monday that they received 27,151 applications. Benjamin Hannam: Neo-Nazi Metropolitan Police officer jailed for four years Wisconsin law requires the DNR to run a wolf hunt from the beginning of November through the end of February. But wolves have been bouncing on and off the federal endangered species list for the past decade. The DNR ran its first hunt in 2012 after the Obama administration removed protections and ran two more before a federal judge re-listed the animals in late 2014. The Trump administration delisted wolves in most of the U.S. again in January. The DNR was preparing to hold a season in November, but a Kansas-based hunting advocacy group, Hunter Nation, won an order from a Jefferson County judge that forced the agency to hold a season before the end of February. The group argued that President Joe Biden s administration could restore protections for wolves before November and deny hunters a season. Wolf management has been one of the most contentious outdoor issues that Wisconsin has grappled with over the past 20 years. Northern Wisconsin farmers and residents say wolves kill their livestock and pets. According to DNR data, the state paid a total of $189,748 in 2019 to farmers and dog owners to compensate them for losses to wolves. It paid out $144,509 in 2018 and $102,600 in 2017. Conservationists counter that the wolf po[CENSORED]tion isn't stable enough to support hunting them and that the animals are too beautiful to allow it. ✕ Legislators in neighboring Minnesota have introduced dueling bills that would ban hunting wolves in that state and mandate a season. Maureen Hackett, founder and president of Howling for Wolves a Minnesota-based wolf advocacy organization, issued a statement Monday condemning the Wisconsin hunt. “As apex predators, (wolves) have the social and biological structure to control their own pack sizes and numbers," she said. “The political decision to remove federal Endangered Species Act protections for the wolf is against public sentiment and sound science.” Amazon confirms Prime Day 2021 will go ahead in June: Here’s how to get the best deals An animal rights group calling itself Wolf Patrol planned to monitor hunters across the northern management zones starting Monday. In 2016, then-Republican Gov. Scott Walker signed a bill prohibiting people from bothering hunters in the woods in response to allegations that Wolf Patrol members followed and filmed wolf hunters in Wisconsin and Montana in 2014. The Wisconsin DNR still plans to go ahead with another season starting in November. ___ This story has been updated to correct that the DNR issued 2,380 permits, not 4,000.
  21. Monaco played home to some of Ayrton Senna's greatest victories. As F1 returns to the principality for the 2021 season, we're looking back at when we spent 24 hours with the great man, 'Mr Monaco' himself. Sunday 23 June 1991, 6:30pm, Kidlington Airport – Michael Harvey reports The sky is as bleak as the three grey stripes on the flanks of Ayrton Senna's British Aerospace HS125, making the arrival of the Formula 1 world champion in Oxfordshire difficult to spot. He's filed three different flight plans today for this short hop from Paris, but lands on the dot of 6.35pm. Senna is first off the plane, his plain white Reeboks and straight uncuffed jeans sliding into sight first on the blind side of the aeroplane. He is slighter than you might think, but big in the chest and arms beneath the pale blue cotton short-sleeved shirt and the red McLaren bomber jacket. The Honda PR man is standing beside me with his little boy, Jack. Jack wants to know if Senna can fly aeroplanes like he drives cars. "No‚" says dad, "but he flies his own helicopter back in Brazil." Jack is impressed; has Senna really got a helicopter as well as a racing car and an aeroplane? "Oh yes," says dad. "He's got everything." Today he has a Honda NSX as well. The all-alloy supercar is parked just the other side of the airport building, but Senna has to talk to customs, immigration and Jack before he can get in the Honda; Jack looks like he's going to faint when Senna asks him if he's been a good boy. An affirmative answer gets him a badge. 7pm, Oxford ring road Even world champions get stuck in traffic jams, and Senna drops the NSX's window down as the big Honda slowly lines up behind at least a mile of traffic. "Oh nice!" he says, his English as soft and clear as a choirboy. "Looks really bad," he concludes. Still, it's as good an opportunity as any to talk to Senna and he's happy to chat about the automatic NSX, his own manual version in Portugal, the similar one he hopes to have in Brazil, and the Golf GTI and the Mercedes 300TE it will join there. "You know, I basically like driving, so long as it's more sportive than a classic and not a soft car that's slow," he says. He's a big fan of the NSX, and not just because Honda pays his wages or because he's likely to open the first Brazilian Honda dealership when he retires. "It's not a Ferrari, it's not a Porsche, it's a Honda. I drive many different makes of cars. I like this car for everything it's not. It's not the most powerful sports car, but it has enough power for you to enjoy on the roads. You cannot have a lot of power to use on the roads anyway or you may become a big danger for everyone else." To prove the point, Senna floors the throttle and we race into the gap that has opened as we chatted
