NUSA DUA, Indonesia: The International Monetary Fund launched formal bailout talks with Pakistan on Thursday, and IMF managing director Christine Lagarde said she would require “absolute transparency” of Pakistan’s debts. She said such disclosures were necessary to determine the debt sustainability of countries seeking IMF loans.

If you’re in the market for a new car, it’s worth getting excited – 2018 looks set to be a great year for new models from the majority of the world’s major car manufacturers. All-new designs join updated long-standing favourites in 2018’s wide and varied lineup, with a diversity of engines, bodystyles and technology never seen before. The year will see electrification continue across the board and before too long, whether it’s a supermini or a supercar, the chances are you’ll have the option of hybrid power at the very least. The usual year-on-year trends are present and correct; EV models will be more advanced and usable than ever before. Many of these will offer viable alternatives to petrol, diesel and hybrid models which themselves will offer improvements in economy and emissions for 2018. Superminis, family cars, saloons, coupes, sports cars and supercars will all arrive over the next 12 months, but buyers of SUVs will be particularly spoilt for choice, with new models of all shapes and sizes on the way. The hot topic of autonomous vehicles is likely to rumble on and we’d bet on seeing considerable improvements in the effectiveness and safety of the systems that run these cars – both those on sale and on test by pioneering manufacturers.

A suspect has reportedly been arrested in connection with the rape and murder of a Bulgarian journalist, who had recently highlighted possible government corruption. The individual being held over the killing of Viktoria Marinova is a “Romanian citizen with a passport from Moldova”, according to unconfirmed reports from Bulgaria's interior ministry broadcast on national radio. Ms Marinova, 30, had hosted a show last month reporting on two investigative journalists who had been detained for their work surrounding a suspected fraud involving European Union (EU) funds.

My husband and I had our wedding reception at Lyle’s in Shoreditch and so it has automatically become a go-to for special occasions. The food is absolutely brilliant (a pea dish we had as a first course on our wedding day is one of their signature dishes, look out for it), they have great natural wines and the space is beautiful – bright, airy and thoughtfully designed. Despite the quality of the food and its Michelin star, the atmosphere is chilled, friendly and not at all snobby and the staff are great. We’d be frequent visitors regardless, but having such great memories of it from our wedding day means it’ll be a favourite for life.

The complainants pointed out, however, that the Leaf can take longer than 60 minutes to fully charge, and is designed to only accept one rapid charge a day. They argued Nissan should provide evidence to back up the claim made in the advertisement. Nissan defended the advert, arguing consumers could charge their Leafs to 80 per cent capacity in 60 minutes. The company also said the footnote explained the timescale was dependent on other factors, and the battery could technically receive more than one rapid charge a day.
