  1. NVIDIA's partners are getting ready for a grand launch in September with the unveiling of the next-gen GeForce RTX 30 Series graphics cards. One of these partners is EK who has confirmed that they will be releasing their water block liquid cooling solutions either on the same day as the launch or close to it. EK Readies Water Blocks For NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 30 Series Graphics Cards, Promises Availability Close To Launch The confirmation comes from EK's Facebook page (via Videocardz) where a company rep replied to a user asking about the availability of RTX 30 series water blocks. We know that NVIDIA has a major launch event planned for the 1st of September and we are just a week away from official unveiling. NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 30 series graphics cards will come in both reference Founders Edition flavors and custom variants. Most users who are running custom-loop cooling solutions will be buying the reference variants. While EK will be offering custom water blocks for support of specific vendor AIB models, they can't make a water block for all custom variants. The Founders Edition board however is kept as the reference layout by water block manufacturers and as such, the Founders Editon card will receive the first solutions from EK. According to our sources, NVIDIA has given the final PCB schematics to vendors a while ago so that they can ready their custom PCB designs and cooling solutions based on that. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 series flagship graphics cards are looking to be a completely different beast as can be seen in the latest leaks with massive cooling solutions and rumors of very high power consumption that might translate to higher thermals. There are bound to be several AIO designs but water blocks are also great for cooling graphics cards through a custom-loop set up to keep the heat in check. EK hasn't confirmed the prices or specifications of its upcoming NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 series block designs but they have mentioned a launch either on day 1 or close to the retail availability. Do note that the 1st September event is most definitely an announcement with the retail launch happening within the first few weeks. EKWB Unveils Three New Quantum Reflection Distro Plates For The LIAN LI DK-05F And DK-04F Desk Cases The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 'Ampere' Gaming graphics card lineup is expected to be announced on 1st September at a digital event which will be hosted by CEO of NVIDIA, Jensen Huang. We expect at the very least, three new graphics cards during the event which include the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti (or RTX 3090), GeForce RTX 3080, and a next-generation Titan. There's definitely a lot more to talk about regarding the Ampere GPUs but we will have to wait until more information comes our way.

  3. Update: While Microsoft has made it more difficult to manually disable Microsoft Defender in Windows 10, the app should automatically turn itself off if it detects you're running another antivirus program. Microsoft Defender (which used to be known as Windows Defender), is the built-in antivirus tool in Windows 10, and Microsoft has just made it more difficult to disable. While the current version of Microsoft Defender does a good job of protecting PCs against viruses, malware and other internet threats, there are plenty of reasons why you’d want to disable it. Do I need an antivirus program in Windows 10? The best antivirus programs in 2020 Best malware removal software It’s always been a bit tricky to turn off Microsoft Defender in Windows 10, and while you could pause its real-time protection, it would automatically turn itself back on later. There was a way to disable it via the registry, but with the Windows 10 August 2020 update (version 4.18.2007.8), which has just been released, the setting you were able to change has been “discontinued and will be ignored on client devices,” according to Microsoft. Heavy-handed While Microsoft has done a good job of making its Defender antivirus software a tool you’d actually want to use, and we can understand the desire to make it difficult to run Windows 10 with no antivirus protection, Microsoft’s forcing of Defender on Windows 10 users is typically heavy-handed. We’d much rather see Microsoft encourage people to stick with its antivirus software because of its merits, while still offering the ability to switch to a different antivirus app. Instead, Microsoft continues to force its services on Windows 10 users, and that can be annoying for anyone who wants complete control over their PC. However, Microsoft states that "Microsoft Defender antivirus automatically turns itself off when it detects another antivirus program." As long as that setting works as intended, it means you should be able to run another antivirus program of your choice, and it won't conflict with Microsoft Defender.
  4. Corsair Gaming, a provider of high-performance gaming and streaming products, has jumped into the fray in order to take advantage of the phenomenal effervescence that is currently dominating the equity markets. The company has filed the requisite Form S-1 with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). As a refresher, this initial registration form is a mandatory requirement for any company in the U.S. that plans to float its shares on the stock exchange. It should be noted that the company initiated this listing process on the 15th of June when it filed confidentially for an IPO. Corsair Gaming plans to raise at least $100 million through the public flotation of its shares. Bear in mind that the latest filing is only a preliminary one and that, as per the usual practice, the company will file multiple iterations of the amended Form S-1, known as the Form S-1/A, in order to disclose further information. Corsair Gaming was founded in 1994 and initially concentrated on retailing high-performance DRAMs. Today, the company offers an entire range of products geared toward gaming enthusiasts, including mechanical keyboards, precision gaming mouse, wireless headsets, and the CORSAIR ONE – a compact gaming PC. In the attached prospectus, Corsair describes the breadth of its market penetration in the following words: “We believe our brand, scale and global reach provide significant competitive advantages. As of June 30, 2020, we had shipped over 190 million gaming and streaming products since 1998, with over 85 million in the past five years. Our gear is sold to end-users in more than 75 countries, primarily through online and brick-and-mortar retailers, including leading global retailers such as Amazon and Best Buy, and through our direct online channel. Due to our gamer and creator-centric design philosophy we have received over 4,000 product awards from magazines and websites in approximately 45 countries since 2016, of which more than 3,500 were “Gold,” “Editor’s Choice,” “Approved,” or similar awards, including multiple perfect “10 out of 10” or similar perfect ratings.” As per the prospectus, Corsair currently leads the U.S. market in a number of product lines. As an illustration, it enjoys an apex position in the market when it comes to mechanical keyboards, high-performance memory, power supply units, cooling solutions, and computer cases. It ranks 2nd in the streaming gear and performance controller categories. Additionally, the company ranks 3rd in the gaming mouse category and 4th in the gaming headsets sphere in the United States: As far as Corsair’s financials are concerned, it earned the following periodic revenue over the past couple of years:
  5. In terms of the Madden 21 passing game, they’ve changed things up a bit when it comes to the defense pressuring the quarterback. If you’re controlling the QB and the defense gets to you, they can disrupt your throw more than in Madden 20. For example, a hit as you’re releasing the ball may affect how it’s thrown. That said, we’ve got your guide for how to throw the ball away in Madden 21, to avoid any mishaps. Madden 21 Passing guide: How to throw the ball away Much of the Madden 21 passing is like what gamers are used to from the previous version of the game. For example, various buttons on the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One controller match up to specific receivers you can choose to throw to. You can also double-tap on any of the receiver buttons to Pump Fake the ball. However, you may find that coverage is tight on all your receivers, so there’s no options available. If you’re using a quarterback who isn’t exactly known for scrambling or mobility, the best option could be getting rid of the ball. To throw the ball away, press the Right Stick in on PS4 or Xbox One. This will make your QB throw the ball out of bounds to the sidelines. You’ll lose a down but won’t lose the ball via fumble or interception. If you do it right, you also won’t lose any yards. A word of caution with that, though. If your QB is outside the tackle box when they throw the ball away, you’ll probably get an intentional grounding call. That could mean a heavy penalty in terms of added yards. How to scramble with your quarterback Another good option to have with your quarterback is being able to scramble in Madden 21. This will help you elude potential defenders who could sack your QB or cause a mishap. Of course, if you have a QB like Lamar Jackson, scrambling away and then taking off down the field is also a great option. To scramble in Madden 21, you need to hold the R2 button on the PS4 controller along with the Left Stick for directing your QB. For Xbox One, that’s the Right Trigger (RT) and Left Stick. On a PC, it’s usually the Shift key or Right Mouse Button. You can do this as soon as your QB receives the snap to activate them as a runner with ball carrier moves. You can also perform this after evaluating the field to realize there are no good receiver options. In the video below, Mahomes simply takes off after the snap to run with the ball. From there, he slides before the defense can take him down, or worse, take the ball away. See how to slide in Madden 21 here. At least one video for Madden 20 gave the added tip of tapping on the L2 on your controller as the ball is snapped, and then holding the R2. This will apparently help your QB to be able to juke to avoid tackles better. If you’re using a QB like Lamar Jackson, that may result in getting away totally and escaping down the field for a touchdown celebration. For more of the latest news and how-to help, visit our Madden page here.
  6. Linux users will soon be able to benefit from support from more Windows 10 builds to work with. Microsoft has announced it will be including Windows 10 1903 and 1909 builds in support for Windows Subsystem for Linux 2 (WSL2), allowing the open-source software to run on more versions than ever before. Previously, WSL2 users had been limited to the more recent Windows 10 2004 or higher releases. We've highlighted the best Linux distros around today Best Linux apps: free and open source software Best laptop for programming: top picks for coders, developers and sysadmins Windows 10 Linux "We heard how much you liked WSL 2 and wanted to expand its accessibility, and over the last few months we worked on bringing it back to 1903 and 1909," Microsoft Windows Servicing employees Ty Citrin and Mitchell Minkoff wrote in a blog post announcing the launch. "We’ve heard great customer feedback on how many users have enjoyed using WSL 2, and the primary goal for this backport is to make WSL 2 available to more Windows users." The pair say that WSL 2 is, "a new version" of the architecture in WSL that changes how Linux distributions interact with Windows. Each Linux distribution can run as WSL 1 or as WSL 2, and can be switched between at any time. All the features for WSL 2 distros will now be available for an even larger user base, with the pair promising a full Linux kernel built into WSL 2. They are also bringin file system performance now on par with Mac and Linux speeds, improved System Call Support for all Linux applications notably, and Docker Desktop support. The update is only for x64 systems as it stands, with users on ARM64 versions needing to upgrade to Windows 10 version 2004 and you’ll gain full access to WSL 2. The news comes shortly after Microaoft also announced it would be bringing graphics processor support to Linux on Windows 10 through WSL, with Nvidia, Intel and AMD also announcing their support.
  7. AMD's next-generation Ryzen 5000 APUs which will be part of the Cezanne family is expected to feature an interesting design update specific to the core complex. The Cezanne APUs will utilize AMD's brand new Zen 3 cores which will deliver a marked improvement over existing Renoir 3rd Gen APUs. AMD Ryzen 5000 'Cezanne' APUs To Feature Eight Zen 3 Cores Per Core Complex - EPYC Milan & Ryzen Vermeer ES CPUs Spotted Again The latest details come from Patrick Schur (@patrickschur_) who has tweeted out that AMD's Cezanne APUs which will be marketed under the Ryzen 5000 CPU segment will offer the Zen 3 cores with an updated design hierarchy. AMD (NASDAQ: AMD) Stock Price Target Hiked To $100 by Cowen on “Execution Dependability” and “Product Innovation” Right now, the AMD Ryzen 4000 APUs based on the Zen 2 core architecture come in a single-die, monolithic design. The die is composed of two core complexes, each of which features four cores, and 4 MB of L3 cache. With Zen 3, AMD is going to change the way its core complex or CCX's are designed. Each Zen 3 CCX will feature 8 cores and a unified L3 cache. We can't say for sure if AMD will keep the same cache size as the existing Renoir based parts or give the Cezanne lineup a nice boost. We know that AMD's Renoir has a severely cut-down cache design compared to the chiplet based Matisse offerings. Considering that Cezanne will also be a monolithic design, we can expect the cache to be similar but a unified design will mean that the eight Zen 3 cores will have a larger and shared pool of cache (8 MB vs 4 MB) per CCX. As for variants, an 8 core Cezanne APU was discovered by Patrick. The chip features an OPN code of '100-000000285-30_Y'. It is reported that this chip features 8 cores and 16 threads. The chip was spotted with A0 stepping and seems to be an early variant with a base clock of 3.0 GHz. AMD could go for a higher number of cores with a dual CCX design which would double the number of cores & threads on the mobility platform. A halo product like this could be aimed at the high-performance notebook segment. Finally, the Ryzen 5000 Cezanne family is said to retain eight cores per CCX on both, the AM4 (Desktop) and FP6 (notebook) platforms. An AMD Ryzen 5000 Cezanne APU was also recently spotted within the Sisoftware database while the A0 stepping has been confirmed for a while. Here's Everything We Know About The Next-Gen Ryzen 5000 Cezanne APUs So far, only the design of the Ryzen 5000 'Cezanne' APUs is confirmed and as we talked in our last report, the Cezanne generation of APUs will bring forward the new Zen 3 CPU architecture while re-using the Vega GPU architecture. The Cezanne family would be replacing AMD's Renoir Ryzen 4000 APU family which has been released on notebooks since April 2020 and will make its debut on the desktop AM4 platform in the coming months. The Cezanne family will rely on the FP6 and AM4 package for mobility and desktop platforms while utilizing both new and enhanced core technologies. The new cores will be fused on the CPU side in the form of Zen 3 which are also making their way to the Ryzen 4000 Desktop CPUs codenamed as Vermeer. The Zen 3 Desktop CPUs will launch earlier than the Zen 3 APUs for mobility and desktop platforms which could be announced around CES 2021 followed by a proper launch in the coming months. The GPU side for the Cezanne APU lineup on all platforms will still be using Vega graphics. Although this particular Vega GPU would be a further enhanced version of the 7nm iGPU which we got to see on Ryzen 4000 'Renoir' APUs. The first A0 silicon features the Vega 20 GPU and once again, this is an internal codename for the GPU. It has nothing to do with the number of compute units which one might think it comes with 20 CUs which is practically impossible on the same package size. AMD's Radeon VII GPU also featured the Vega 20 GPU and it was mostly due to the fact that Vega 20 series is based on the 7nm GPU IP while Vega 10 series is based on the 14nm GPU IP. It's not hard to tell that Renoir uses the same GPU IP since its a 7nm enhanced variation of the Vega GPU that offers a huge gain in performance per CU over the original Vega cores that were featured on Ryzen 3000 APUs. Overall, we can expect a decent boost to the graphics side while next-generation Zen 3 cores will be delivering a major performance bump to the CPU side too.
  8. With NBA 2K’s MyTeam, gamers are able to build their ultimate team of star players through various cards acquired in the mode. On Friday (Aug. 21), a brand new NBA 2K21 MyTeam trailer arrived online to show off the po[CENSORED]r mode. In addition, 2K released a Courtside Report giving details dropped for what’s to come with the mode. That will include several new components and game modes which we highlighted below, along with MyTeam Carryover. NBA 2K21 MyTeam trailer arrives online With the NBA 2K21 MyTeam trailer, we get a look at in-game highlights featuring star players of the past, present, and future. With MyTeam, gamers can put together unique lineups, teaming up players that never even played together, to build the best possible roster for competition. We see next-gen cover star Zion Williamson teaming up with current-gen cover star Damian Lillard in unique red and black jerseys. We see players in team jerseys they’ve never worn in the career, such as Russell Westbrook and Kevin Garnett in Bucks green. Vince Carter is in a Lakers jersey. Devin Booker appears wearing a Toronto Raptors jersey, while the late Kobe Bryant is in a Sixers jersey near the end of the trailer. In addition to those visuals, various words flash on the screen to talk about what’s featured in the mode such as Domination, Limited, and Seasons. The latter two are brand new for the game. See more details below. NBA 2K introduces Seasons and Limited mode Seasons is a new concept with MyTeam bringing unique objectives and prize updates. Based on 2K’s details, Seasons will last approximately six weeks each and bring different goals with them as well as rewards. They reveal that the first Season’s prize for completing Seasonal goals will be a Pink Diamond Stephen Curry card. They also mention Seasons will be free for everyone. That means no paying to play or get in. nba 2k21 myteam rewards steph curry pink diamond NBA 2K21 MyTeam Limited is also a new concept in the mode. This one only runs on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and brings different rules each time. It’s a 5-v-5 multiplayer mode where you’ll be competing with other MyTeam players. The reason its called Limited is they’ll have a different lineup restriction for each week of the game mode. Could that mean only players from certain divisions, or restrictions on certain types of cards? It could make for some interesting competition. With each win gamers get in MyTeam Limited they also get a prize. That prize is one they can keep, or decide to try in for the choice of one of two mystery prizes. That could be the Championship Ring, or something else. It could end up being worse than the original prize you won too. They also mention that if you find and collect the Championship Ring each weekend during Limited, they can be traded in for a special card that will make other gamers envious. More details about Limited, Seasons, and everything else that’s new in the mode are available at 2K’s Courtside Report. 2K confirms MyTeam Carryover for next-gen There was also some great news in the Courtside Report when it comes to NBA 2K21 MyTeam progress. Gamers will be able to use the items they earned on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One on the next-generation consoles and game. So that means MyTeam items and progress become available on the PS5 or Xbox Series X consoles if gamers upgrade to those with the NBA 2K21 game. The 2K notes refer to it as MyTeam Carryover. With the carryover, gamers can even go back and forth playing the game on the current-gen and next-gen consoles, while still being able to use their MyTeam items and progressing. So that means PS5 to PS4 or Xbox Series X to Xbox One (and vice-versa). It apparently will not work from PlayStation to Xbox, and needs to be on the same account. nba 2k21 myteam carryover They remind gamers that by pre-ordering the Mamba Forever Edition now, it includes a free copy of the next-gen NBA 2K21 game. Otherwise, gamers who buy the current-gen edition (with Lillard on the cover) will have to make an additional purchase to get the next-gen game. It brings a cost of $69.99 for the next-gen version with Zion on the cover. Visit our NBA 2K news page for more of the latest game updates.
  9. After launching NordLocker last year, NordSec has now decided to add a cloud storage feature to its file encryption tool with the aim of changing how the industry treats data privacy. While other cloud storage solutions encrypt only the storage, the company's encryption tool also encrypts the files its users store with a simple drag and drop. Encryption specialist at NordLocker Oliver Noble provided more details on the file encryption tool's new cloud storage add-on, saying: We've put together a list of the best encryption software around These are the best VPN services on the market Protect your data on the go with one of the best secure drives “NordLocker took a challenge to revise and turn round existing cloud storage practices. Encrypting files first and uploading them to the cloud of the same provider helps to avoid the involvement of third-party vendors. All that can be done with a single move of drag and drop.” Secure cloud By adding a cloud storage feature to NordLocker, NordSec is enhancing user privacy on both the device and in the cloud as both share the same encryption standards. Additionally, the files are synchronized across all of a user's devices but no one except for their owner can access the data. Normally when a cloud provider encrypts user data, they hold the key that allows them to access that data and can do so without a user's knowledge. NordLocker differs from traditional cloud storage providers due to the fact that only a user's decryption key can open their files. Surprisingly it took NordSec just 90 days to develop and implement NordLocker's new cloud storage add-on. As NordSec has added secure cloud storage to its file encryption tool, the company has made some changes to its plans with the good news being that encryption is now unlimited for all users. NordLocker users also get 3 GB of secure cloud storage for free. The company's premium plan at $7.99 per month gives users 500 GB of storage and signing up for an annual plan lowers the price by half to just $3.99 per month.
  10. Intel has released a new set of 'real-world' performance benchmarks that compare its 10th Gen Desktop CPUs to the AMD Ryzen 3000XT lineup. The company specifically compares the gaming performance of its chip against its competitors and claims that they offer the best performance package at a cheaper price. Intel Claims Their Core i7-10700K Is Not Only Faster in Gaming But Also Better Value Than AMD's Ryzen 3000XT CPUs The new 'real world' performance slides were showcased during a presentation to the APAC regional market. While Intel's own CEO has stated that the industry should move on from the generic benchmarks showcase, the recent decline in desktop processor shipments has led the company to win over the minds of consumers in the mainstream and high-performance CPU segments with a new set of comparisons. We won't start with how much controversy the real performance benchmark slides have been marked with since their first outing but recently, the blue team has started using similar priced and similar spec'd configurations that do lead to better representation of real-world usage. AMD Launches Entry-Level A520 Motherboards For Existing & Next-Gen Ryzen CPUs & APUs – ASUS, ASRock, AORUS, MSI, Biostar Roundup Intel Core i7-10700K 8 Core vs AMD Ryzen 9 3900XT 12 Core CPUs Compared The comparison consists of the Intel Core i7-10700K and the AMD Ryzen 9 3900XT. The Intel Core i7-10700K is an 8 core and 16 thread CPUs with a base clock of 3.80 GHz, boost clock of up to 5.10 GHz, 20 MB of cache, and a TDP of 125W (229W PL2). The AMD Ryzen 9 3900XT is a 12 core and 24 thread CPU with a base clock of 3.80 GHz, boost clock of up to 4.70 GHz, 70 MB of cache, and a TDP of 105W. Intel says that their Core i7-10700K CPU is cheaper with a starting price of $387 US ($409.99 US at Newegg) while the AMD Ryzen 9 3900XT CPU is expensive at $499 US ($479.99 US at Amazon). The standard Ryzen 9 3900X which is not featured in these performance metrics costs $429.99 US that is a far better deal than the Ryzen 9 3900XT which offers up to 5% better performance but for a 10 percent price difference. Intel compares its Core i7-10700K 8 core CPU to the AMD Ryzen 9 3900XT 12 core CPU in gaming and claims its faster and offers better value. (Image Credits: Benchlife) Intel used similar test setups which featured an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti graphics card and 16 GB of DDR4 memory. The memory on the Intel platform was running at 2933 MHz speeds while the AMD platform was running 3200 MHz DIMMs. Now there's no mention of which motherboard both setups were using but considering that X570 and Z490 boards end up costing around the same, the price difference would be close with Intel offering a slightly better value versus the Ryzen 9 3900XT. The performance benchmarks show that the Intel Core i7-10700K outperformed the AMD Ryzen 9 3900XT in several AAA titles. The Intel CPU was up to 23% faster in Total War: Warhammer 2 17% faster in Leauge of Legends 15% faster in Monster Hunter World: Iceborne 14% faster in Rocket Leauge 12% faster in War Thunder Tank Battle 6% faster in Total War Three Kingdoms AMD’s Entry-Level A520 Motherboards Launching on 18th August – ASUS & ASRock Boards Listed & Leaked Online In addition to the games where the Core i7 scored a double-digit win against the Ryzen 9 CPU, Intel also showcased several other titles where their CPU was more than 3% faster than the 3900XT. The lead was seen in 24 out of the 30 titles tested. In the remaining tests, the Ryzen 9 3900XT secured a lead and surprisingly, the AMD CPU scored better than the Intel part in CSGO which is one of the top played eSports titles. All performance tests were performed on a 1080p resolution. The slides were shared by Benchlife however the exact appendix for workload and configurations isn't shown. Sure Intel has a solid lead in gaming performance which was the whole purpose of this comparison but a 12 core and 24 thread CPU also has several other benefits than just gaming. The AMD Ryzen 9 3900XT can deliver better performance to game streamers and for general productivity tasks and professional uses which many gamers these days also run simultaneously on their desktop PCs. Its an added benefit from the several cores that Ryzen CPUs provide and while Intel leads the gaming benchmarks, the gap isn't huge, especially if we compare the standard Ryzen 9 3900X CPU which costs pretty much identical to the Core i7-10700K in the retail segment. If you're purely building a gamer-focused machine, then Intel CPUs do retain the advantage but the real question is how long will this advantage reside with Intel with Zen 3 fast approaching the desktop PC market.
  11. Most GTA fans agree that Grand Theft Auto 6 is probably on the way—eventually. But as we go longer and longer without any official announcements about GTA 6, we are starting to lose confidence. What is going on with Grand Theft Auto 6? Should we really be making assumptions about the future of the franchise? Let’s take a look at some of the signs that big changes are on the horizon. At This Point, We Have No Idea What is Going On With Grand Theft Auto 6 First of all, it has been ages since we got GTA V in 2013. But we expected a long gap before GTA 6 even then. Still, how much longer will we have to wait? And let’s consider some of the things that have changed in the meantime. First of all, there have been major personnel changes over at Rockstar Games. GTA lead developer Leslie Benzies left in 2016. Now, we no longer even have co-founder Dan Houser working at Rockstar. And as of this month, GTA writer, producer and radio station host Lazlow Jones is also gone. Another cause for concern is how successful GTA Online is. While it is awesome that GTA Online is thriving, one wonders if Rockstar might be more invested in continuing to pour resources into GTA Online rather than into GTA 6. Finally, we also have to consider how the real world has been changing over recent years. Traditionally, Grand Theft Auto parodies real life. But over the past few years, the real world has practically turned into a parody of itself. How does one parody that which already seems borderline unbelievable? Just making a GTA game now would be a creative challenge in a way that it would not have been previously. None of this means that a GTA 6 game won’t be made. It just means that what we expect could differ significantly from what we get. GTA 6 could be much different from its predecessors. Keep checking our GTA news section for more updates.

  14. ast month Microsoft announced a new brand called Dataflex that would bring low-code capabilities to both its Power Platform and Teams products. The branding provides a new name for the software giant's Common Data Service (CDS) which is used to build custom Power Apps. Microsoft had planned to use the Dataflex name for CDS in Teams while Dataflex Pro would be the rebranding of CDS itself. However, there was just one big catch, the name was already being used by another company. In a blog post, Microsoft's most valuable professional and co-founder of Forward Forever, Jukka Niiranen provided further insight on the confusion surrounding the new Dataflex brand, saying: We've put together a list of the best laptops for programming These are the best COBOL online courses on the market Also check out our roundup of the best web development tools “For the small minority of techies who have actually heard of the Common Data Service (or XRM), the need for inventing a new name for their beloved service that remains the same (i.e. Dataflex Pro) wasn’t very obvious. For the larger crowd that works with Office tools and Microsoft Teams, Dataflex is a brand new thing, which understandably has made MS think whether a brand new brand would also be useful at this point. Unfortunately the name “Dataflex” isn’t so unique that there wouldn’t be some clashing with non-MS products out there. In this case, there has been an existing trademark within pretty much the same application development domains since the year 1981 already.” Trademark issues While Microsoft thought it was announcing a new brand, the US-based Data Access Corporation already had multiple, registered US trademarks for its “DATAFLEX” brand software that was first used commercially all the way back in 1981. Following Microsoft's announcement, CEO of Data Access Corp, Chip Casanave explained in a blog post titled “Microsoft DataFlex?” that Microsoft's new brand has nothing to do with its own DataFlex products, saying: “Since we have received inquiries from customers confused by Microsoft’s announcement, this blog is to clarify that the new “Microsoft Dataflex” has nothing to do with Data Access Worldwide’s long-standing DataFlex products. There is no business connection between Microsoft and Data Access with respect to the DataFlex trademark; Microsoft’s new product has no technical connection to Data Access Worldwide’s DataFlex product.” After sending Microsoft a cease and desist letter, Data Access then sued the company for a trademark violation in the US District Court for the Southern District of Florida. Microsoft has since taken down all of the pages on its site that reference Dataflex and visiting these pages now results in a 404 error. We'll have to wait and see if the company decides to rebrand Dataflex under a new name but given the demand for low-code apps, this will likely be the case.

  16. One of the biggest changes which launched today as part of Apex Legends Season 6 is a major Armor rework. Alongside the launch of Rampart, changes to World’s Edge, and so on, Respawn is also changing how armor works throughout Apex Legends. From now on, all armor besides Gold Armor will automatically be Evo Armor. The Changes to Armor in Apex Legends Season 6 “With Season 6,” explains Respawn; “we’re introducing some big changes to the way armor works in the game. First off, all armor in the game is Evo Armor (except the Gold Armor). When you find a white, blue, or purple armor on the ground, it’s a pre-leveled Evo Armor. It can be picked up like normal, and continue to be evolved. Red Armor is not in the ground loot and can only be achieved through evolving.” Alongside this change, all players will now spawn with level 0 Evo Armor. This means that you won’t necessarily need to pick up armor when you initially drop; if you damage opponents, that starting armor will eventually upgrade to White Armor anyway. The only armor which is not Evo Armor now is Gold Armor, which players will still be able to find in rare loot locations as before. The damage requirements to upgrade Evo Armor have also changed. To upgrade level 0 armor to White Armor, you need to deal 50 damage. 125 damage will upgrade White Armor to Blue, 250 will upgrade Blue to Purple, and finally, 500 damage will upgrade Purple Armor to Red. However, while armor will now be more accessible, and players will be able to improve their armor more easily, armor has also gotten a general debuff to counterbalance these changes. Every type of armor has had its health reduced by 25. For instance, Purple or Gold Armor had 200 health prior to the start of Season 6. Now, those kinds of armor have 175 health. Red Armor will now grant 200 health rather than 225. According to Respawn, the reason for these changes is to try and bring down the time-to-kill in Apex Legends so as to; “better reward strategic positioning.”

  19. Microsoft says that Windows 10 will be its final release of the iconic operating system that's installed on over 90% of computers. "Right now we're releasing Windows 10, and because Windows 10 is the last version of Windows, we're all still working on Windows 10," said Jerry Nixon, Microsoft's developer evangelist, at the Ignite tech conference. Instead of releasing an entirely new and different version of its desktop OS every few years, Microsoft is taking an Apple-like approach to subsequent Windows releases, standardizing on Windows 10 as its Cupertino-based rival has done with OS X. Under this new strategy, Microsoft will deliver regular improvements to Windows through software updates. Windows as a service In the past, Windows users could go to a store, purchase a copy of Windows and install it on their PCs. With the release of Windows 10 this summer, Microsoft is radically changing the way users upgrade Windows. For the first time, Microsoft is making Windows 10 available as a free upgrade to all Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 users. Starting in July, for the first year of Windows 10's availability, owners of these prior releases can upgrade through Windows Update over-the-air at no cost. Microsoft will continue this strategy of delivering Windows as a service, delivering frequent updates to Windows 10. There are also new methods to download Windows, including downloading the updates through multiple sources to get them quicker. Users can download Windows updates through Microsoft's servers and from local and internet-connected PCs that have already obtained the updates. Taking a mobile-first approach Under CEO Satya Nadella, Microsoft is taking a cloud-first, mobile-first approach to its business, and this also applies to Windows. Windows will employ a strategy similar to how mobile operating systems split up the core components to deliver faster updates . The Start menu and built-in apps are now unbundled from the main OS so users can get faster updates. Rather than waiting for a full Windows update, Microsoft is delivering smaller standalone app updates, a feature we're seeing in the Windows Insider Preview - formerly known as the Windows 10 Technical Preview build - with the Mail and Calendar apps. This unbundling effect has allowed smartphone manufacturers to update core apps - such as the camera, photo gallery, mail and others - without having to wait for mobile operators to push out a larger OS-wide update. Like Windows, Microsoft employs a similar strategy with Office. With Office 365, Microsoft's subscription service for Office already delivers the most up-to-date Office experience to users, regardless of the OS or device you're running. Office 365 subscribers will have access to Office 2016, which brings cloud-based collaboration, when that version hits retail. The next generation After the launch of Windows 10 this summer, Microsoft is rumored to have started work on its next update, codenamed Redstone. Redstone is expected to arrive in 2016, bringing Windows 10 support to more devices, like HoloLens.
  20. Intel is launching its first gaming discrete graphics cards based on its next-generation Xe-HPG GPUs next year. The gaming lineup will feature a range of products but unlike the Xe-LP & Xe-HP GPU line which will be fabricated on Intel's own 10nm SuperFin process node, the Xe-HPG GPUs are going to be produced at an external foundry with TSMC being the most likely candidate. TSMC To Win Intel's Xe-HPG GPU Orders, First Gaming Discrete Lineup To Be Produced on 6nm Process Node Reports coming out of Taiwanese based outlets seem to indicate that TSMC is confident in winning orders for Intel's next-generation Xe-HPG GPUs. As reported by IThome (via @harukaze5719), Intel's Xe-HPG GPUs will be produced at TSMC's fabs, making use of their bleeding-edge fabrication technologies. The Taiwan-based sources claim that Intel is likely to utilize TSMC's 6nm process node for its gaming GPUs that will be competing against AMD's RDNA 2 and NVIDIA's Ampere GPU lineup by the time they hit the store shelves.
  21. Boosted, Apex Legends‘ upcoming 6th season, will finally launch tomorrow, on the 18th of August. Like previous seasons, Apex Legends Season 6 brings with it a new Legend, a new weapon, map changes, and a new Battle Pass… however, it will also be adding a major new gameplay mechanic; Crafting. Apex Legends Season 6 – Boosted The headline addition of Apex Legends Season 6 is, of course, Rampart. This all-new Legend has a strong defensive focus, with the ability to deploy cover walls and even set up “Sheila,” her heavy minigun turret. In fact, Rampart is only part of a new defensive focus in Apex Legends Season 6. All three of the new Worlds’ Edge map locations in the new season feature Blast Walls which can be raised and lowered from control panels, allowing players to fortify the sites against attack. In addition to these changes, players have a new weapon to look forward to in Season 6; the Volt. This new energy-based SMG first featured in Titanfall, like so many of the other weapons in Apex. However, this addition pales in comparison to that of Crafting. This totally new gameplay mechanic will offer players the ability to make their own equipment using ‘Materiales’ which they find around the map. If you take Materials to a ‘Replicator,’ the machine can print whatever you want, whether it be a weapon, armour, or consumable. Another big change in Apex Legends Season 6 concerns armor. With the launch of Season 6, all armor is now Evo Armor. The sole exception to this change is Gold Armor, which you’ll still be able to find in rare loot locations. Moreover, all players will now spawn into every match with level 0 Evo Armor. This means that armor should now be much more accessible than in previous seasons. However, it should be noted that armor is getting a general downgrade alongside this change. All armor will now have 25 less health than it did before (Gold will have 175 instead of 200, for example.)
