Chelsea strengthened their chances of securing European football next season, cruising to victory against West Ham at Stamford Bridge. It took just 15 minutes for Chelsea to get their noses in front with Cole Palmer reacting quickest to meet a loose ball in the West Ham box. West Ham almost hit back immediately when Jarrod Bowen's header crashed back off the crossbar, but it was one-way traffic from then on. Chelsea doubled their lead on the half-hour mark through Conor Gallagher before Noni Madueke headed in the third six minutes later. Nicolas Jackson struck twice in the second half to round off a wholly positive afternoon for the Blues. With just three games left to play, Chelsea's season seems to be heading for a strong finish as they have climbed up to seventh and sit just two points shy of sixth-placed Newcastle, while West Ham, who have two games remaining, stay ninth. Chelsea ooze confidence After a rocky first season under the tutelage of Mauricio Pochettino, Chelsea are starting to click and European football could still be on the agenda for next season if they keep up this momentum. The Blues have won nine of their past 11 home Premier League outings and they are now on a four-game winning streak at Stamford Bridge, having beaten Manchester United, Everton, Tottenham and now West Ham. They seem to be playing with greater confidence and it bodes well for the next term. An assured finish into the the bottom right corner from Palmer set Chelsea on their way, taking his tally in the league to 21. Captain Gallagher's strike was equally as impressive as he volleyed emphatically across the target to leave Alphonse Areola rooted to the spot. The game was pretty much over as a contest by the 36th-minute when Madueke found space in the six-yard box to turn in Thiago Silva's knockdown. Jackson further tightened Chelsea's grip on all three points shortly after half-time and he showed great composure when rolling in the fifth after beating the offside trap late on. Chelsea were not asked too many questions defensively but Pochettino will also be pleased to see his side record back-to-back clean sheets in the league for the first time since February 2023. Another heavy loss for hopeless Hammers West Ham's confidence looks shot as their season draws to an unsatisfactory conclusion. The Hammers have won just one of their past 10 games across all competitions, losing five, and are on course to miss out on a fourth successive season in Europe. They have conceded 70 goals this season, including shipping five goals on four separate occasions, with only bottom three clubs Burnley (74), Luton (78) and Sheffield United (100) with a worse defensive record. Former Wolves boss Julen Lopetegui held talks with West Ham about replacing David Moyes this week and a second successive heavy defeat on the road, having lost 5-2 at Crystal Palace on 21 April, leaves the Scot in an even more precarious position. Bowen was the only positive for West Ham on a miserable day for the visitors, hitting the crossbar on three occasions. Despite conceding early in the second period, West Ham did pose slightly more threat after the restart with Emerson firing over the bar and half-time substitute James Ward-Prowse forcing a save out of Djordje Petrovic. The result extends Moyes' terrible record when visiting Chelsea as a manager, failing to win any of his 19 trips - losing 12 and drawing seven. https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/68914705

Israel has closed the Kerem Shalom crossing into Gaza after Hamas fired rockets from within the strip. At least 10 people were injured, some seriously, Israeli media report. The armed wing of Hamas said it had targeted troops with short-range rockets. Mediators in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, have held two days of talks aimed at securing a deal for a ceasefire in Gaza and the release of hostages held by Hamas. In a statement, Hamas said the latest round had ended on Sunday and that its delegation would now travel to Qatar toconsult with the group's leadership. The truce proposal is believed to involve a 40-day pause in fighting while hostages are released, and the release of a number of Palestinian prisoners being held in Israeli jails. The main sticking point appears to be whether the ceasefire deal would be permanent or temporary. Hamas is insisting any deal makes a specific commitment towards an end to the war, but Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected that on Sunday. "The state of Israel cannot accept this [Hamas's demands], we are not prepared to accept a situation in which the Hamas brigades come out of their bunkers, take control of Gaza again, rebuild their military infrastructure, and return to threatening the citizens of Israel in the settlements surrounding the southern mountains, in all parts of the country. "This will be a terrible defeat for the state of Israel," he added. The war began after waves of Hamas gunmen stormed across Gaza's border into Israel on 7 October, killing about 1,200 people and taking more than 250 hostages. The group is proscribed as a terrorist organisation by many Western countries. During the subsequent Israeli military campaign in Gaza, more than 34,600 Palestinians have been killed and over 77,900 wounded, according to figures from the territory's Hamas-run health ministry. Mr Netanyahu has faced pressure from within his far-right coalition to press ahead with the long-promised offensive in Gaza's southern-most city, Rafah, where an estimated 1.4 million people have taken shelter after fleeing fighting in northern and central parts of the strip. The US is reluctant to back a military operation that could cause significant civilian casualties, and has insisted on seeing a plan to protect displaced Palestinians first. The Israeli government also faces mounting pressure at home. Of the 252 hostages who were kidnapped by Hamas on 7 October, 128 are still unaccounted for - and among them, at least 34 are presumed dead. Addressing the strike on the Kerem Shalom crossing, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said 10 projectiles had been fired from an area near the Rafah crossing in southern Gaza, about 3.6km (2.2 miles) from Kerem Shalom. The IDF said they were fired from a site some 350m from a civilian shelter, before it destroyed the launcher and a nearby military site. It called the launches "another clear example of the terrorist organisation's systematic exploitation of humanitarian facilities and spaces, and their continued use of the Gazan civilian po[CENSORED]tion as human shields". Ceasefire talks have gone on for months without a breakthrough, and there has not been a pause in fighting or a release of hostages since the end of November https://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-68960585

In a recent RPG roundtable I hosted for the PC Gamer Chat Log podcast, something Larian founder Swen Vincke said caused my ears to perk up: the already impressive multiplayer roleplaying in Baldur's Gate 3 was once even more involved than what made it into the final game. During the roundtable, Ted Peterson, writer and designer of the original Elder Scrolls, pointed out that multiplayer games and MMOs have difficulty keeping their tone consistent—it's easy to tell the difference between the way a player behaves and the way a character would. That was something Vincke had in mind during the development of BG3. "We've been trying to experiment with that—the problem is that it's so intensive to get it to work," he said. "In Original Sin 1 you could actually roleplay dialogue with your partner, in co-operative play. We actually had that deeply in Baldur's Gate 3 at some point also. But the problem was our dialogue trees blew up so hard, we just couldn't manage it anymore. So we had to cut it all."I don't know much about Baldur's Gate 3's companions, because for me they're not much more than a bunch of weirdos who hang out at my camp. That's because I played Baldur's Gate 3 in four-player co-op, with no space in the party for NPCs to tag along and invite me into their own stories. I'd like to know what Astarion's whole deal is and why Karlach's so beloved, but I had too much fun with the chaos of playing BG3 with friends—just like I did with Divinity: Original Sin 2 before it, and the first Original Sin before that. I love playing these games with friends, because there are long stretches of exploration during which we can chat, and enough emergent, sandboxy solutions to problems that I know we'll end up coming up with weird or creative ideas as a group that I wouldn't see solo. We definitely miss out on some of the overall story, but my character's personal journey has still been satisfying. No other developer is making RPGs this ambitious with multiplayer, and I think on the whole Larian's been getting better at it with each passing game. But in terms of pure roleplaying, it would be exciting to see a system like the one Vincke was referencing from 2014's Original Sin make a comeback: https://www.pcgamer.com/games/rpg/baldurs-gate-3-once-featured-an-even-deeper-co-op-conversation-system-but-swen-vincke-said-their-dialogue-trees-blew-up-so-hard-we-just-couldnt-manage-it/

The reMarkable 2 was launched in 2020. So, it's not a brand-new product that the brand is bringing to the market, but something which was conceptualised several years ago. The tablet is meant to replicate writing on paper helping one convert their handwritten notes into editable digital documents. But given that we are all used to having wrist watches which can run apps, place calls and track your health, TVs that come with app integrations or double up as wall paintings. Or earphones that can translate spoken language and accept voice commands, the reMarkable 2 will definitely fail to appeal to the regular consumer who's desperately seeking maximum value from any given product. I have been using this tablet for several months, and I haven't switched over to using it as a planner or a diary (I'll explain why below), but I have found it useful in some cases where pen and paper make more sense to me. If you have been pondering whether the reMarkable 2 paper tablet makes sense in your life, this review should give you an answer. reMarkable 2 Review: Price in India The reMarkable 2 in India can be purchased as a bundle at Rs. 43,999. You get the reMarkable 2 paper tablet and the Marker Pen Plus accessory, which comes with a built-in eraser. The second bundle, which I received for review, is called the reMarkable 2 Bundle with Folio. It is available at Rs. 53,999 and adds a Book Folio cover for basic protection. reMarkable also sent across their Type Folio Keyboard cover, which was launched in 2023, for review. It's available in two finishes, Ink Black and Sepia Brown. I received the Sepia Brown cover for review, which is priced at Rs. 19,499 officially. reMarkable 2 Review: Design and accessories Starting with the accessories, reMarkable only has the Marker Plus pen on sale in India. It does not use a battery and so needs no charging. It has a built-in eraser with a slightly rounded head. The pen comes with 9 extra tips in its packaging, which provides plenty of mileage even for serious or heavy users. The optional Book Folio cover offers basic protection for the reMarkable 2's display, so those looking to protect it from drops will have to look up third-party accessories. The reMarkable 2 Tablet Isn’t Meant to Replace an iPad The Type Folio cover is rather interesting. While it appears like a typical tablet cover made from artificial leather and plastic, it is quite an engineering marvel. Just like the Marker Plus pen, it does not have a battery, and so does not require charging. I t draws power via five pogo pins located inside the area where the paper tablet attaches. When closed, the Tan Brown cover appears just like any other tablet folio case. In fact, it's really hard to tell that there's a keyboard hidden just below the paper tablet. The Type Folio has three positions in all. There's the first one, where the front flap (which otherwise protects the display) is wrapped around the back, making it ideal for taking hand-written notes when laid flat on your lap or a table. Advertisement Next, there's a second angle that I call the "typing mode", with the tablet standing up and the keyboard exposed below it, which is ideal just for distraction-free typing. There is a third mode, which I call the "review mode." This mode keeps the tablet at a less slanted angle with the keyboard exposed for typing while also letting one write comfortably by resting one's palm on display instead of keeping one's hand floating in the air when in "typing mode." One detail that I did miss was the paper tablet's ability to wake up when opening the Type Folio or Folio covers. So, after opening the flap, you have to reach out for the power button at the top to wake up the tablet from its sleeping state. One can also choose to keep it on all the time, but the battery will drain a lot faster when in this state. Thankfully, there is a passcode lock feature so you can secure your tablet from prying eyes. The reMarkable 2 does not include a charger in its packaging; instead, it offers a branded USB Type-A to Type-C cable in the box. https://www.gadgets360.com/tablets/reviews/remarkable-2-review-5513011#pfrom=indepth
