  6. If you're looking for unreleased hardware, Taobao is probably the best online shopping platform to find it. For example, qualification samples (QS) of the AMD EPYC 7773X (via HXL) have already made their way to Taobao for just $2,823.97. AMD announced its EPYC Milan-X processors with 3D V-Cache back in November of last year. Although AMD didn't put an exact date on Milan-X's release, the chipmaker did confirm a Q1 2022 launch, which explains how qualification samples have escaped to the black market. Milan-X packs the same Zen 3 cores, built on TSMC's 7nm node, as Milan. The flagship SKU will still max out at 64 cores, 128 threads, and 256MB of L3 cache. The most substantial upgrade arrives in the shape of the 3D-stacked L3 cache, bumping the total to 768MB per processor. The EPYC 7773X tops AMD's Milan-X product stack at 280W and checks in with a 2.2 GHz base clock and 3.5 GHz boost clock. Before the Taobao listing, the EPYC 7773X appeared at an international retailer for $10,746.99. Understandably, the asking price from the Taobao seller isn't even half of the retail price since it's a qualification sample. That means the chip's specifications aren't on equal terms with the retail model. The Taobao merchant specifically listed a 2.1 GHz base clock, 100 MHz under the official specifications, and an unknown boost clock speed. Being a qualification sample that's illegal to sell, the chip won't have any warranty. Milan-X will land this quarter and won't require a motherboard upgrade. Milan-X works fine in the existing SP3 socket using a similar recipe as Milan. However, a firmware upgrade will likely be the only requirement to get the new EPYC chips up and running. We've already seen Milan-X in action in a plethora of benchmarks, and the processors pack enormous firepower - firepower that will cost a small fortune, of course.
  7. Now it's even more of a Surface...Go Microsoft has launched new versions of the Surface Go 3. The first is a new colorway, matte black, and the second is a Surface Go 3 with LTE connectivity – as Microsoft has previously done with the Surface Pro 8. This should make the Windows tablet more versatile. Unfortunately, for those who are interested in LTE connectivity, you’ll have to purchase the Surface Go 3 with an Intel Core i3 processor as there isn’t a version listed with the Intel Pentium 6500Y model. That makes the price of entry a bit higher than it would otherwise be. A Surface Go 3 with an Intel Core i3 processor, LTE, 8GB of RAM, and a 128GB SSD is going for $730 / £642 / AU$1,012 on the Microsoft Store. Which can be a little steep, especially if you already have a Surface Go device. Luckily, that particular configuration is available in the new matte black colorway, so you can indulge in all the new offerings. If you’re only interested in the non-LTE Surface Go 3 but with the new matte black coloring, you can get that starting at $550 / AU$763 / £484 for the Intel Pentium 6500Y model. Though the Surface Go 3 received a less than stellar review from TechRadar, it can make a killer Android tablet with the use of a new feature that allows for Android apps in Windows 11 to be downloaded from the Amazon app store.
  8. Rabat - Morocco is preparing to approve Germany’s appointment of Thomas Peter Zahneisen as its new ambassador to Rabat, confirming news that the two countries have been engaged in talks to put behind months of frozen relations. According to Le360, Morocco is expected to give its green light to Ambassador Zahneisen’s appointment by the end of this week. Zahneisen, who is expected to come to Rabat in the coming days to begin his diplomatic mission, could be part of a list of newly appointed foreign ambassadors who have been scheduled to submit their credentials to King Mohammed VI, the same source noted. Meanwhile, Morocco’s ambassador to Germany Zhour Alaoui will also soon return to Berlin. In recent weeks, Morocco and Germany have sent signals of their willingness to put behind these past months of simmering tensions. Reports suggest the election of a new government in Germany might have accounted for the Western European country’s decision to commit to a renewal of diplomatic ties with Morocco. Earlier this month, Germany’s President Frank-Walter Steinmeier extended an invitation to King Mohammed VI to visit the Western European country. The German president emphasized Morocco's improved business climate, describing the country as a “site of investment” that has become important for German companies in Africa. He also lauded Morocco’s efforts in implementing several political, social, and economic reforms under King Mohammed VI. In March of last year, Morocco suspended all contact with the German embassy in Rabat over fundamental disagreements on Western Sahara and other issues that Morocco deems vital for its interests. Of Morocco’s sovereignty over the Western Sahara region, President Frank-Walter Steinmeier stressed that his country considers Morocco’s Autonomy Plan as a “serious and credible effort by Morocco and as a good basis for reaching an agreement to the regional dispute.” Morocco and Germany have enjoyed notable economic and trade deals since 1956 and there are around 300 companies with German equity participation operating in Morocco.
