  1. Original Xbox backward compatibility was one of the highlights of Xbox E3 2017 press conference. Under this program, many original Xbox games will be playable on Xbox One later this year. The library of will be not as big as Xbox 360 due to two reasons: Rights issue And Emulation difficulty (technically it's a bit difficult). Microsoft's Mike Ybarra (today) has revealed an additional new detail related to Original Xbox backward compatibility program. He stated that there will be no achievements support to original Xbox games that will be backward compatible. When asked by a fan: Will the backward compatible original Xbox games come with achievements, even though achievements were introduced on the 360? Ybarra replied: "NO". This shouldn't come as a surprise because Achievements support were added in the Xbox 360 era, it was not present in original Xbox games. A lot of work and modification would have been needed in order to add Achievements to original Xbox backward compatible games. Some of you might come up with an argument that Sony has added trophies support to PlayStation 2 games that run on PlayStation 4. So what stopping Microsoft to do it? The thing is that PlayStation 2 games are modified to run on PS4, and so the end result includes trophies support. On the other side, original Xbox games will be emulated to run on Xbox One.
  2. Free blogging sites have come a long way in recent years, and it’s now easier than ever to create a professional-looking blog to share a hobby with likeminded people, express your opinions, and establish an online presence. These free blogging sites are aimed at hobbyist bloggers – blogs are created and managed online, and hosted on the blogging platform’s own servers. If you want to create a self-hosted blog, the downloadable version of WordPress is an excellent option, with total flexibility, support for third-party plugins, and as much storage as your hosting plan allows. If you're interested in making a static website rather than an online journal, take a look at our guide to the best free website builders. 1. WordPress With advanced features, plugins and a generous storage allowance, WordPress is the best free platform for starting your first blog Powerful and highly customizable, WordPress is a brilliant platform for blogs of any size, and bloggers of any level of experience. Creating your first blog is very straightforward, with a simple wizard that guides you through the process of choosing a name and suitable theme. You can leave it there and begin writing posts immediately, but the real fun lies in the more advanced editor, which lets you customize virtually every aspect of your blog’s appearance. Unlike some blogging sites, WordPress isn’t a drag-and-drop affair, and you’ll have to familiarize yourself with its system of menus. It’s well worth the effort, though, and enables you to create something truly personal. The editor also lets you create static pages – like a writer’s biography, for example. The post-writing interface is much like an ordinary desktop word processor (though some options are presented in a toolbar at the top, while others are in a menu at the side, which can be a little confusing at first). Again, time spent getting to know the interface is rewarded with advanced features like customizable social media sharing buttons, geotagging, and the ability to pick a custom style for individual posts. Sometimes you might want to create a photo gallery, for example, and other times a more text-focused style would be more appropriate. You can also view and edit the HTML source. As your blog grows, WordPress lets you track its stats, including page views, visitors, likes and comments over time. You can also see how readers reach your site, which content they viewed, and where are were in the world, so you can tailor your content accordingly. Your site is hosted on WordPress’s servers, with an address in the format yoursite.wordpress.com. Users of the free service don’t get email or live chart support, but the WordPress community forums are very active and questions are usually answered within a few minutes. WordPress displays ads on free blogs, but provided you can live with that, it’s undoubtedly the best free blogging site around. ONLINE SITE >>> wordpress 2. Blogger A free web platform with mobile-friendly features and Google app integration Blogger is another superb blogging platform. It’s not quite as powerful as WordPress, but more accessible for new users, which comes as no surprise when you learn that it’s owned by Google. Blogger offers an excellent selection of templates, all of which include mobile versions optimized for smaller screens – a very sensible addition with so many people accessing online content through smartphones. Blogger’s post-editing tool is much like WordPress’s, but offers fewer options. As a result, its toolbars are less confusing – a trade-off between power and usability. One of Blogger’s best features is its integration with other Google apps and services. For example, it uses your Google Drive account to store images and other files for your blog. Google Drive gives you 15GB of space free, so Blogger is a good choice if you’re planning to share a lot of high-res photos. Spam comments are a big problem on blogs, so Blogger’s automatic spam filter can help save your sanity. You can monitor comments via Blogger’s dashboard, which also lets you see visitor stats. There are some handy visualizations here, including a world map to show the global distribution of your readers. Your blog will have an address in the format yoursite.blogger.com, and, like all Google services, will include ads. Support is available through the Blogger user forum, which is very active but has a strange layout that can be a little off-putting. In all other respects, Blogger is brilliant – one of the best free blogging sites if you prioritize ease of use over flexibility and are a fan of the Google ecosystem. online Site blogger 3. Wix A great free blogging site for completely new users, with two quick and convenient editors, plus free stock photos to get you started Wix is our favorite general-purpose free website builder, and is great for creating stylish blogs too. Its chief drawback is storage – you have just 500MB for your files and data traffic is restricted to 500MB per month, so you’ll need to upgrade to a premium plan if your blog really takes off. Once you’ve created an account, select ‘blog’ from the list of categories, then choose either Wix Artificial Design Intelligence (ADI) or Wix Editor. Wix ADI asks a series of very simple questions, then builds a site around your answers – ideal if you’ve never created a site before and find the idea intimidating. Wix Editor is very straightforward too (simpler than Blogger or WordPress), but is much more flexible than ADI and will be a better choice for most users. One of Wix’s best features is its choice of image sources, including your hard drive, social media, free images from Wix itself, and pictures from its partner stock photography site Bigstock. If your blog posts are text-heavy, these free images are a great way to make it look more appealing. On the downside, your custom wix.com URL will include a string of not-too-snappy letters and numbers that might make it hard to memorize. That aside, its resources and friendly approach mean Wix just pips Weebly to third place. Free Wix sites include a tiny ad for the company in the top right and another at the bottom, but these won’t spoil the look for your blog. online site wix 4. Weebly Weebly’s flexible editor lets you drag and drop your way to a smart looking blog Weebly takes a modular approach to blog-building, with a drag-and-drop editor that lets you choose which elements to add to your site, and where. Pick a basic template, then plonk various types of content onto the page, including social media links, text, images, maps, and sections of code. It’s a refreshingly simple way to build a blog that feels unique to you, but doesn’t require any messing about with menus. It’s worth noting, however, that certain content blocks can only be positioned in certain areas; it isn’t a total free-for-all. This makes sense – forcing you to stick within the confines of your chosen template stops the page looking messy – but you might find it limiting. Blog posts are made in the same way – drag text boxes, picture frames, buttons and page breaks into position, then click to edit them. One particularly nice feature is the ‘secret draft link’, which lets you preview your unpublished post, and even share it with others via email before releasing it into the wild. Weebly has some other interesting tricks up its sleeve too, including an area for pasting in Google Analytics tracking code (though it doesn’t offer analytics itself). As with Wix, you’re only given 500MB for uploaded content, so photographers might want to look elsewhere. Weebly puts an ad in your site’s footer, but it doesn’t obscure any of your content. online site weebly 5. Penzu Keep it secret, keep it safe with a secure journal for your private thoughts Whereas the other free blogging sites are designed to get as many eyeballs on your posts as possible, Penzu is the equivalent of a locked diary stashed in a safe. Penzu is a journal platform that makes your posts private by default and locks them down with at least one password (even after you’re logged in, you need a second one to read or edit your posts). That’s because it’s designed for private thoughts and personal reflection. There are free apps for iOS and Android that enable you to update your Penzu diary anywhere, but the contents are for your eyes only. Penzu isn’t a tool for self-promotion, so although it’s far from ugly, it understandably focuses on function rather than looks. Custom colors and backgrounds come at a price – currently US$10 (about £8, AU$13) per year. It’s a shame that 128-bit AES encryption is also limited to the paid-for version, and there’s a fair amount of pressure to upgrade. Extra options are often dangled under your nose then yanked away, but the core offering is a good one and if you simply want a place to record your thoughts and practise writing, Penzu could be just what you need. online site penzu
  3. If you've ever driven along Route 66, the newest exhibit at San Francisco's Exploratorium museum may ring a few bells. Riverfront casinos. Questionable motels. Cool roadside attractions. They're all here. But they're all made of plain brown cardboard. "Welcome to WildCard," which opens Saturday, reimagines the historic US highway as a river you can walk along. Houses, coffee shops and a theater made of corrugated cardboard cluster around a path of shining blue lights that represent water. Artists from the Cardboard Institute of Technology, a collective that taps recyclables for its installations, use these metaphors of winding waterway and classic American road trip to carry visitors through a fanciful landscape where artistic license holds sway. Scale gets warped, with birds becoming giant beasts. And geography, too, gets a makeover: A papery Stonehenge travels from England to America to become "Cardhenge." Apart from simply creating a wonderland out of discarded boxes, the show serves to demonstrate the intersection of science and art, one of the Exploratorium's chief goals. A philosophy that marries these two disciplines has guided the self-proclaimed "public learning laboratory" since its doors first opened, in 1969. "The idea that science and art are distinct from one another is so problematic," said Exploratorium spokesman Martin Rock, who pointed out that both center on inquiry-based thinking. "People will see a display and ask, 'Is it art? Is it science?' And the answer is, 'Yes.'" The WildCard exhibit comes amid a push to get young people more interested in science, technology, engineering and mathematics -- fields collectively known as STEM. Advocates for STEM education say that with demand for professionals in these fields rising, it's important to train future generations to take on these jobs and tackle some of society's most pressing challenges. But there's also an effort to incorporate art and design into the mix, transforming STEM into STEAM (with the "A" signaling the addition). Supporters say art and design education inspires flexible thinking and creative problem-solving that the sciences alone don't provide. The STEAM approach aligns more closely with the Exploratorium's mission. Robyn Higdon, who's in charge of "museum experience," said STEM proponents sometimes overlook the role of imagination. The museum, she said, is using exhibits like WildCard to encourage young visitors to stretch theirs. "It always starts with being inspired," Higdon said. Visitors might be fired up by what the exhibit depicts -- waterways and construction -- or the thought of working with their hands. Higdon appreciates the role technology plays in the museum's exhibits, as well as in everyday life. Still, she hopes the display encourages people to unplug. "I love being a part of the Silicon Valley," Higdon said. "But I'm hopeful that one of the impacts of this show will be to inspire people to set down their digital devices, just for a minute … and to go home and create their own worlds." Welcome to WildCard runs from June 17 to Sept. 4. Tickets are $29.95 for adults, $24.95 for seniors, and $19.95 for youth. They're free for members, and for children 3 and under.
  4. semi-annual channel will run alongside Long-Term Servicing Microsoft has announced that it’s going to be moving to a twice-yearly schedule of major feature updates with Windows Server, matching the cadence which the software giant already employs with Windows 10 (and Office). These more frequent releases are, of course, a good way of ensuring that users benefit from new features in a swifter manner – although, of course, it’s not quite as simple as simply switching to a biannual format with Windows Server. Microsoft will offer two channels with Windows Server: a semi-annual channel with new feature releases every six months, and a Long-Term Servicing Channel (LTSC), the latter of which essentially keeps the current scheme of major updates every two or three years. So in short, the biannual channel will see cumulative feature updates with each release building on the previous one, and the majority of those new features will ultimately be rolled into the big LTSC release every few years. Seasonal servings This new scheme of things will begin in the autumn of 2017, with future updates targeted for the spring and autumn, and it will also apply to Windows Server Core (the ‘headless’ installation of the OS) and System Centre. Note that not all users will get the benefit of the new biannual releases – only Windows Server Standard or Datacenter users who are covered with Software Assurance, or those running Windows Server in Azure (or other cloud environments). Microsoft further noted that Windows Server preview builds will be coming to the Windows Insider programme. The company called for testers and feedback on the OS, stating that: “While Windows Server has always evolved to meet the changing needs of our customers, the next phase truly depends on you. This new model provides more opportunity than ever before for you to influence the direction of Windows Server.”
  5. The administration eliminates reporting requirements that were related to preparing for potential IT disruption back in 2000. The US government can at last stand down on the Y2K bug, some 17 years after the threat came and went. The Trump administration said Thursday that it will eliminate reporting requirements related to providing updates to preparedness planning for potential IT disruption at the turn of the last century. The move is intended to fulfill a promise President Donald Trump made on the campaign trail to reduce government regulation. Of the more than 50 paperwork requirements eliminated Thursday, seven dealt with the Y2K bug, which was created by many computer programs being designed to enter years in only two digits -- the last two -- meaning 2000 might be mistaken for 1900. In the end, years of planning meant there were no major crises and far fewer headaches than had been predicted. "These policies are now obsolete and outdated, as the Federal government was successfully unaffected by any service interruptions," the Office of Management and Budget said in a memo (PDF). "As a result, OMB is rescinding these memoranda because the deadlines for implementation have passed." Trump signed an executive order shortly after taking office that requires two regulations to be removed for every new regulation added. The order requires that federal agencies self-identify which regulations to cut based on their estimates of the cost.

  7. Xbox One X is the latest console where we can really expect a true 4K resolution. But there is a glitch. The console has a higher configuration that makes it the most powerful one which is capable of seemingly delivering 4K HD on big screens. In a recent news updated on Xbox News site, we found some package labels that are for games and they segregates them by resolution, you must know. There are three icon labels 4K Ultra HD, HDR and Xbox One X Enhanced. Below is the description of each. 4K Ultra HD - A game has a 2160p framebuffer output. That includes Native 4K, Checkerboarding, and Dynamic Resolution. HDR - The game supports HDR10 standard. Xbox One X Enhanced - A developer has done special work to take advantage of Xbox One X’s 6 teraflops of power. Specific enhanced features will vary by game. On the first one 4K Ultra HD you can see it does not mean true 4K, it also includes Checkerboarding and Dynamic Resolution. True 4K depends on the game, for example, assasin creedOrigins supports 4K Dynamic Resolution that means it will adjust to lower resolutions as per the scene graphic requirement. Here is an example for this new XbOx on Assasin Creeds Game
  8. Transform photos into retro or modern masterpieces Pop Art Studio is a fun and easy way to transform ordinary pictures into works in the style of Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, and modern artists like Banksy and Shepard Fairey. The filters work best with simple portrait photos with fairly high contrast between highlights and shadows. If you need to crop a picture or adjust its brightness and contrast first, you can do so quickly and easily using GIMP or Paint.NET. Warhol and more It's great fun, and the results look fantastic. Once you have a suitable picture, take your pick from the dozens of artistic options available. Pop Art Studio evolved from a project called the Andy Warhol Replicator, and has grown to include vintage camera, pointillist, photo collage, tilt-shift and many more creative filters. When you've picked a style and uploaded your picture, you can adjust options like opacity, threshold and colors to change the effect (the settings available will depend on the filter you've selected). The best feature here is Random Colors, which can create striking and unusual effects. Get it now and start experimenting. CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD

  9. I'm a fan of games willing to tell you a story. I am often keen to forgive some of their gameplay flaws if they actually manage to give you some proper emotion, of any genre. For example, I loved The Last Guardian, despite it wasn't technically so performing, because of its charming character (and Trico's interaction with the gamer) and the situation they have to face throughout the adventure. I was expecting something in that range from Rime, the latest game from Deadlight's developer Tequila Works. The software house from Madrid had a very bad time at the beginning of the development process, you might remember, mainly because after a brilliant debut the project was abandoned by publisher Sony and recently re-appeared as a multi-platform game rather than a PS4 exclusive. But I never lost faith because, again, I love these games which can tell you some interesting stories, allow you to feel some true emotion throughout the process of playing them. And Rime really felt like it was something in that fashion, with the capacity of sharing some good feelings about some good story, with great music and art style. While music and art style are indeed very good, and something you'll probably remember for a while, everything else isn't as great as you might have dreamed of since Rime's official presentation back in the days. The main reason here is it's very similar to the other games in the genre, like Ico, and you constantly have those titles on your mind when you have the gamepad in your hands. But, ultimately, it ends up feeling much smaller in both gameplay mechanics and storytelling itself. I'm saying it's smaller also thinking of things like, you know, in the first half of the game basically nothing happens. You start getting some clues about the story only in the latter half of the second half in the game, which means you spend like 4-5 hours with nothing seriously making you go on. Similarly, in terms of gameplay there's nothing compelling happening until you approach the end, where slightly more complex puzzles and platforming begins to pop up. You still can't say Rime is totally bad, because what happens by the end is pretty good and ultimately leaves you with a warm feeling after completion. As I said, music is incredibly good for a game with such limited budget, and the graphics are indeed fascinating enough for having you look at the sky wondering if we are alone in the universe. Too bad it ends up being a disappointment on PC. Many have already reported about issues with higher end rigs, and I can confirm that those problems are really in place. I've played with an Intel Core i7, with a 980 GTX and 12GB RAM, ending up playing with medium settings at 1080p in order to have an at least stable frame rate -- something I wasn't able to achieve anyway, as stuttering and dips are still there. I also gave 4K a try, with the lowest settings possible and without v-sync (which is rather fundamental to have a smooth experience here): it looks good, but optimization is very disappointing as of now. Verdict Rime could've been a much better and bigger game, but you can't say it's a total disappointment. The ending, which I won't reveal here, is indeed pretty good but doesn't look like it has a solid basis -- it could've been there without the rest of the game and would've had the same impact on the players. And the music in particular is great. I suggest to get it as soon as it has a more appropriate pricing and ultimately a performance patch if you want to play it on PC.
  10. San Francisco - It's clear from former Attorney General Eric Holder's recommendations on how to fix Uber's dysfunctional management that the male-dominated company grew huge without even the most basic procedures to prevent sexual harassment, bullying and other bad behavior. The 13-page document from Holder's firm Covington & Burling LLP released Tuesday exposes a startup-turned-goliath that permitted misconduct, had few policies to protect employees and ran with little board supervision. Uber board member resigns The recommendations , adopted unanimously by Uber's board, show clearly that the next version of Uber, called 2.0 by CEO co-founder Travis Kalaninck, will have to be much different from the free-wheeling company that flouted regulations and disrupted the taxi business to become the world's largest ride-hailing company. Kalanick told employees Tuesday that he'd be taking an indefinite leave of absence. And in another strange twist, board member and hedge fund partner David Bonderman resigned Tuesday night after making what he called an inappropriate remark about women at a meeting to explain Holder's recommendations to employees. The Holder investigation started after former engineer Susan Fowler posted a blog in February detailing harassment during the year she spent at Uber, writing that she was propositioned by her manager on her first day with an engineering team. She reported him to human resources, but was told he would get a lecture and no further punishment because he was a "high performer," she wrote. 200 witnesses interviewed After interviewing 200 witnesses, Holder had to make such basic recommendations as setting clear policies to protect workers from harassment, and that the human resources department get a better handle on keeping records and tracking employee complaints. It even suggests such simple procedures as using performance reviews to hold leaders accountable and requiring all employees to turn in receipts so the company can make sure expenses match its values. The recommendations "definitely paint a picture of a company that was out of control and pretty chaotic," says Elizabeth Ames, a senior vice president at the Anita Borg Institute, a nonprofit aimed at advancing women in the technology business. Embattled Uber CEO Kalanick to take leave of absence Holder also suggests that Uber change its written cultural values to promote positive behavior, inclusion and collaboration. The company should eliminate values that justified poor behavior, such as "Always Be Hustlin'," ''Meritocracy and Toe-Stepping" and "Principled Confrontation." Holder also called for trimming Kalanick's job duties, shifting day-to-day functions to a yet-to-be-hired chief operating officer. During Kalanick's leave, his leadership team will run the troubled company. Kalanick wrote that he needs time off to grieve for his mother, who died in a May boating accident. He also said he's responsible for the company's situation and needs to become a better leader — echoing comments the 40-year-old CEO made earlier this year after a heated argument with an Uber driver over pay was captured on video. Ames said the recommendations were strong but indicated Uber had few policies, and the ones it had were not followed. The board unanimously approved the recommendations on Sunday, including a suggestion that a senior executive be tasked with making sure they are implemented. Apparently because of distrust of some leaders, Holder recommended that care be taken to make sure the executive "is viewed positively by the employees." Diversity and inclusiveness should be key The company released only Holder's recommendations, not his full report, citing the need to protect employees who complained. Liane Hornsey, Uber's chief human resources officer, said implementing the recommendations "will improve our culture, promote fairness and accountability, and establish processes and systems to ensure the mistakes of the past will not be repeated." Holder also recommended adding independent directors and replacing the board chairman, co-founder Garrett Camp, with an independent person. The board currently has eight voting members, three from within the company. Uber was also advised to diversify its workforce. Its diversity figures are similar to the rest of Silicon Valley, with low numbers for women and underrepresented minorities. In the U.S., less than a third of Uber's workers are female. In addition, the report says diversity and inclusiveness should be a key value that's included in management training. After Fowler posted her blog, Uber Technologies Inc. made changes in human resources and opened a 24-hour employee hotline. Last week, the company fired 20 people including some managers at the recommendation of Perkins Coie, which separately investigated 215 employee complaints. Company threatened by boycotts On Sunday, Emil Michael, Uber's senior vice president for business and a close ally of Kalanick, left the company. Under Kalanick, Uber has disrupted the taxi industry and turned the San Francisco-based company into the world's most valuable startup. Uber's valuation has climbed to nearly $70-billion. Besides the harassment complaints, in recent months Uber has been threatened by boycotts, sued and subject to a federal investigation over its use of a fake version of its app to thwart authorities looking into whether it is breaking local laws. A company can be aggressive yet have strong values, said Joseph Holt, a business ethics professor at the University of Notre Dame. He cited Starbucks as example. Holt said: "Having a good reputation for ethics is a competitive advantage." At the employee meeting Tuesday morning, Bonderman remarked that if a woman was added to the board that there likely would be more talking, according to a recording obtained by Yahoo. By evening, Bonderman resigned and put out a statement saying the comment was careless and inappropriate. "I do not want my comments to create distraction as Uber works to build a culture of which we can be proud," the statement said.
