The origin
Before entering with the details of the new Lobo 2018 it is important to mention that in 2017, Ford celebrates 100 years of producing trucks with the appearance of the Model TT, the vehicle that gave rise to the F Series in 1948. Immediately, this line of pick ups gained great po[CENSORED]rity to the degree that today is ranked as the most sold range of pick ups in the world with 46 million units. At the same time, this series of trucks has the distinction of being the most successful vehicle in sales in the United States for the past 35 years.
However, within the range of pick ups offered by the F-Series line there are a variety of sizes, there is a model that has become emblematic, that is, it is the F-150 that took the F -100 in 1975. Hence the date this pick up has not only managed to become the best seller of the F Series, but has also evolved to the extent that we can find versions focused only on work, others that combine comfort and power, and some more that are aimed at a sporting performance.
Undoubtedly one of the great attractions of the current generation of the F-150, named in Mexico as Lobo since 1997 for marketing purposes -for the high-end versions-, is the superior performance thanks to the use of aluminum and energetic engines that will they allow to achieve an optimal weight / power ratio.
More power
In order to improve the above, Ford engineers decided that the blocks that are part of Lobo 2018 were altered in order to develop more power and torque. For example, in the case the 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V8 gains 10 hp and 13 pound-feet of torque to reach a total of 395 hp and 400 foot-pounds. By far, the best is in the 3.5-liter twin-turbo EchoBoost V6 that, by winning 50 hp and 10 lb-ft, this six-cylinder casts a total of 375 hp and 470 foot-pounds of torque.
The most interesting thing about this rise in power is that gasoline consumption is lower compared to its predecessor due to the integration of the engine's automatic ignition and shutdown system and that is better known as Start & Stop. But what is more striking is that like the new Raptor, the new Wolf also receives the V6 and the V8 automatic 10-speed box. In addition to the above, a selector is also available with five driving modes that allow better performance according to the terrain conditions and driving conditions -Normal / Tow-Hawl / Wet-Snow / Eco / Sport-.
More load capacity
By having more horsepower and torque, Wolf 2018 allows workers to accumulate more weight in loads. When it did not stop from 4.7 to 4.85 tons, 921 kilograms were transported instead of 658 kilograms.
Off-road
In the case of versions with 4x4 traction, in addition to having four-wheel power from manual to automatic, they integrate the 4-High, 4-Low and electronic locking of the rear differential. All the above, together with the work of the suspension and rigidity of the chassis allow this pick up to have a privileged handling at the time of rolling on rough roads.
Improvement in image and equipment
This series of alterations made in the Ford Lobo 2018 also came to the aesthetic and equipment, so it includes a new grill - changes with respect to each version, the headlights, fenders and gate of the punt. Inside, we find new colors for the vestments and the applications for the board, Bang & Olufsen audio system, CarPlay, Android Auto, lane change assistant, six airbags and inflatable rear belts.
