Bulgaria Sunny Beach is the cheapest European resort for UK travellers, an analysis of 20 seaside haunts suggests. Prices at the Black Sea resort are a third lower than at its closest competitor, Portugal's Algarve, Post Office Travel Money said. The analysis took into account the cost of nine tourist staples, including lunch and evening meals, drinks, sunscreen and insect repellent. Portugal's Algarve was next cheapest, followed by Marmaris in Turkey. Sorrento in Italy was the most expensive of the featured destinations, with prices three times more expensive than in Sunny Beach. Brexit and holidays: What do I need to know? UK drivers in EU told to swap licence At the Bulgarian resort, where prices have dropped 10.7% in the past year, holidaymakers could find a two-course lunch for two people for £8.42, pay just £1.17 for a glass of wine in a bar and £2.34 for a premium brand bottle of suncream. The Post Office said that while sterling was stronger against the euro than a year ago, competitive pricing in restaurants, bars and shops meant prices had dropped in more than two-thirds of the destinations it analysed. "The price falls could be an indication that tourist businesses in European resorts are keen to attract UK visitors and will keep costs low to do so," said its head, Nick Boden. "There are significant variations between the prices we found in resorts this year so it will really pay dividends to do some holiday homework before booking to avoid busting the budget. Victoria Bacon, of travel trade association Abta, said: "Abta members are reporting significant interest in travel to Bulgaria and Turkey."

Scientists have produced a new model to illustrate the December collapse of Indonesia's Anak Krakatau volcano and its subsequent tsunami. The results indicate that 0.2-0.4 cu km of material on the southwestern flank of the volcano must have slid into the sea to produce the destructive waves. The simulation matches well the high-water readings recorded at tide gauges on Sumatran and Javan coasts. More than 400 people lost their lives in the disaster; 33,000 were displaced. The event took nearly everyone by surprise. The dangers of a landslide-generated tsunami stemming from a volcanic eruption had been under-appreciated. Local po[CENSORED]tions certainly had no warning. Scientists, also, were having to catch up, said Prof David Tappin, who presented the new model here at the European Geosciences Union General Assembly. Thinking had been strongly focused on the tsunamis from big earthquakes, the British Geological Survey and University College London scientist told reporters. "Why is Anak Krakatau interesting? Because it's the first such event we've been able to investigate using all the modern technologies and understandings that have come about over the past 20 years," he explained. "These include numerical tsunami modelling, particularly from non-seismic sources; satellite radar; high-resolution satellite photography before and after the event; and high-resolution seabed mapping.".Anak Krakatau's collapse occurred on the evening of 22 December, during a period of renewed eruptive activity. A number of factors are thought to have precipitated what happened, including the height (340m), steepness and inherent weakness of the volcanic structure; and the fact that it had grown up close to - and had even migrated towards - the edge of a deep (220m) submarine trough. When the flank went into the sea, it would have pushed out a big wave in front of it and sucked down the water surface immediately behind. The model shows how the disturbance spread out across the Sunda Strait. Prof Stephan Grilli, who led the modelling work at the University of Rhode Island, commented: "Numerical modelling of eruption-generated tsunamis is far less developed than for other tsunami mechanisms – such as earthquakes and landslides. "The Anak Krakatau event is timely in that it should stimulate the development of new models that will underpin improved mitigation strategies."

Plex is a client-server media player system and software suite comprising two main components. The Plex Media Server desktop application runs on Windows, macOS and Linux-compatibles including some types of NAS devices. The server desktop application organizes video, audio and photos from a user's collections and from online services, enabling the players to access and stream the contents. There are also official clients available for mobile devices, smart TVs, and streaming boxes, a web app, and Plex Home Theater (no longer maintained), as well as many third-party alternatives. Plex sells a premium service called Plex Pass, with features like synchronization with mobile devices, cloud storage integration, metadata and matchings for music, support for multiple users, parental controls, live TV and DVR, trailers and extras and cross-selling offers. Plex began as a freeware hobby project in December 2007 when developer Elan Feingold created a media center application for his Apple Mac. He decided to port the media player XBMC (now known as Kodi) to Mac OS X.Around the same time, Cayce Ullman and Scott Olechowski—software executives who had recently sold their previous company to Cisco—were also looking to port XBMC to OSX, and noticed Feingold's progress via XBMC online forums. They contacted him and offered support and help with funding. Feingold, Olechowski and Ullman formed as a team in January 2008, and founded Plex, Inc. in December 2009. The team released early versions of the port, which they called "OS XBMC".Their purposes were to bring to the project a complete integration to the Mac. The developers worked on the XBMC project until May 21, 2008. Due to different goals and vision from the XBMC team, they shortly forked the code to become Plex, and published it on GitHub. The code was kept roughly in sync with the Linux code. The new name was announced on July 8, 2008. Ullman came up with the name Plex² or Plex Square, due to the unavailability of plex.com, and the availability of plex2.com. Feingold suggested Plex² was too unwieldy and the single word, Plex, was ultimately chosen because the "plex" suffix evokes "comprising a number of parts". The team began to work on a media center component to aggregate not only local content but also to bring together web-based multimedia services. The new library system was redeveloped from scratch. The CenterStage UI group, a team aiming at improving the home theater PC UI interface, teamed with Plex to develop the idea further. To make the project viable, the team looked to bring the Plex experience to other devices, without the need for users to dedicate another computer as a HTPC. In December 2009, the project evolved into a commercial software business owned and developed by a single for-profit startup company, Plex, Inc., a U.S.-based high tech firm that is responsible for the development of the Plex Media Server and media player app front- and back-ends, its client–server model, all accompanying software under the Plex brand name, as well as the exclusive, copyrighted, proprietary parts, whether distributed on its own or as a third-party software component in products manufactured via a strategic partnership. Elan Feingold, Scott Olechowski and Cayce Ullman were the three founders, with Ullman and Feingold taking on full-time roles as the CEO and CTO, respectively. At that time, Plex had 130 apps, the most po[CENSORED]r of which were Apple Movies Trailers, YouTube, Hulu, Netflix, MTV Music Videos, BBC iPlayer and Vimeo. In an interview for TechCrunch, Feingold declared Plex apps had been downloaded about 1 million times. In 2011, Ullman resigned as CEO and left the company.Keith Valory became the new CEO in February 2013. In 2014, Plex raised $10 million from the venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins. In an interview at CES 2014, Scott Olechowski, Plex Chief Product Officer, added that Plex was considering eventually adding paid music downloads, or teaming up with a music subscription service, to give users a chance to grow their music library. These partnerships, like the one with VEVO, were costly for Plex, which led to fundraising from Kleiner Perkins. As of July 2016, Plex has 65 employees.

Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg born 24 October 1989), better known online as PewDiePie , is a Swedish YouTuber, comedian and gamer–commentator, best known for his YouTube video content, which mainly consists of Let's Play commentaries, vlogs, and comedic formatted shows. Born in Gothenburg, Sweden, Kjellberg originally pursued a degree in industrial economics and technology management at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg. In 2010, during his time at the university, he registered a YouTube account under the name PewDiePie. The following year, he dropped out of Chalmers after losing interest in his degree field, much to the dismay of his parents. After failing to earn an apprenticeship with an advertising agency in Scandinavia, he then decided to focus on creating content for his YouTube channel. In order to fund his videos, Kjellberg began selling prints of his Photoshop art projects and worked at a hot dog stand. Kjellberg soon gathered a rapidly increasing online following, and in July 2012, his channel surpassed one million subscribers. On 15 August 2013, Kjellberg became the most-subscribed user on YouTube, being briefly surpassed in late 2013 by YouTube Spotlight and several times in early 2019 by record label T-Series. From 29 December 2014 to 14 February 2017, Kjellberg's channel was the most-viewed YouTube channel. As of April 2019, the channel has received over 93 million subscribers and 21 billion video views, ranking as the most subscribed and tenth-most viewed on the platform.Kjellberg's most noted YouTube content includes his Let's Play-styled video game commentaries, particularly of the horror genre. Many of his early videos consisted of him expressively reacting to the frightening elements of horror games, although he shortly broke his focus away from horror and played games of varying genres. While maintaining a focus on video game commentaries, Kjellberg began incorporating comedic vlogs into his content output with an increasing frequency. In the mid-to-late 2010s, Kjellberg began producing formatted vlogs that had a concentration on Internet culture and interactivity with his audience. His content has been praised as genuine and unfiltered, but also received as abrasive, and in some cases, met with controversy. As a result of an early 2017 controversy regarding allegations of anti-Semitism in several of Kjellberg's videos, Maker Studios — the multi-channel network (MCN) he was signed to — ended their partnership with him. While he criticized the coverage of the situation and defended his content as jokes that were taken out of context, he conceded its offensiveness. The prevailing nickname used by media outlets for Kjellberg's fanbase is the "Bro Army",although Kjellberg has also referred to his fanbase as "Squad Fam" and "nine-year-olds". Kjellberg has raised money for charities, encouraging his audience to donate to charity drives. Due to his po[CENSORED]rity, Kjellberg's coverage of indie games has created an Oprah effect, boosting sales for titles he plays. In 2016, Time named him one of "The World's 100 Most Influential People". Kjellberg lives in Brighton with his fiancée, Italian Internet personality and fashion designer Marzia Bisognin.

Huawei removed wi-fi transmitting cards from a Pakistan-based surveillance system's CCTV cabinets after they were discovered by the project's staff. Punjab Safe City Authority (PSCA) told Panorama it had told the firm to remove the modules in 2017 "due to potential of misuse". The authority said that the Chinese firm had previously made mention of the cards in its bidding documents. But a source involved in the project suggested the reference was obscure. A spokesman for Huawei said there had been a "misunderstanding". He added that the cards had been installed to provide diagnostic information, but said he was unable to discuss the matter further. The PSCA confirmed that the explanation it had been given was that wi-fi connectivity could have made it easier for engineers to troubleshoot problems when they stood close to the cabinets, without having to open them up. Two people involved in Lahore's project helped bring the matter to the attention and have asked to remain anonymous. One said that Huawei had never provided an app to make use of the wi-fi link, and added that the cabinets could already be managed remotely via the surveillance system's main network.

Thomas Alva Edison (February 11, 1847 – October 18, 1931) was an American inventor and businessman, who has been described as America's greatest inventor. He is credited with developing many devices in fields such as electric power generation, mass communication, sound recording, and motion pictures. These inventions, which include the phonograph, the motion picture camera, and the long-lasting, practical electric light bulb, had a widespread impact on the modern industrialized world. He was one of the first inventors to apply the principles of mass production and teamwork to the process of invention, working with many researchers and employees. He is often credited with establishing the first industrial research laboratory.Edison was raised in the American Midwest and early in his career he worked as a telegraph operator, which inspired some of his earliest inventions. In 1876, he established his first laboratory facility in Menlo Park, New Jersey, where many of his early inventions would be developed. He would later establish a botanic laboratory in Fort Myers, Florida in collaboration with businessmen Henry Ford and Harvey Firestone, and a laboratory in West Orange, New Jersey that featured the world's first film studio, the Black Maria. He was a prolific inventor, holding 1,093 US patents in his name, as well as patents in other countries. Edison married twice and fathered six children. He died in 1931 of complications of diabetes.

India has entered full election mode: voting is due to begin on 11 April, with the final ballot cast more than five weeks later on 19 May. Every day, the BBC will be bringing you all the latest updates on the twists and turns of the world's largest democracy. The BJP releases election manifesto What is happening? The governing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has released its election manifesto, which promises a slew of welfare schemes to India's farmers - a key vote bank in a country where nearly half the po[CENSORED]tion is engaged in agriculture. A farmers' income scheme that targeted only small farmers (those who owned up to two hectares of land) has now been expanded to all farmers in the country - they will each now receive 6,000 rupees ($86; £66) yearly. Small farmers and traders will also now receive a pension from the government; and the party has renewed its earlier promise of doubling farmers' incomes by 2022. Why a problem of plenty is hurting India's farmers National security is a major part of the manifesto - India's home minister Rajnath Singh repeatedly referred to India's "zero tolerance against terror" while speaking after the manifesto was released. The document includes other welfare measures, from permanent housing for the poor to piped water in every household to water management and recycling. Why does this matter? It isn't surprising that the BJP manifesto targets farmers because Indian agriculture, blighted by a depleting water table and declining productivity, is in crisis. And protests by farmers have regularly made headlines in the past five years.

The House of Representatives has voted to end US involvement in Yemen's civil war, rejecting President Donald Trump's support of a Saudi-led campaign there. Lawmakers voted 247 to 175 in favour of the bipartisan resolution, which was passed by the Senate last month. The text will now head to Mr Trump, who is expected to veto it. Opposition in Congress to his policy on Yemen grew last year after Saudi agents killed the journalist Jamal Khashoggi at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul. A UN special rapporteur has said the evidence shows that Khashoggi, a US resident, was "the victim of a brutal and premeditated killing, planned and perpetrated by officials of the state of Saudi Arabia". US senators have accused Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of ordering the murder, but Saudi prosecutors have insisted it was a "rogue operation" and that the agents were not acting on his orders. Senate backs end of US support for Yemen war Saudis condemn US Senate 'interference' Yemen crisis: Why is there a war? Yemen has been devastated by a conflict that escalated in March 2015, when the rebel Houthi movement seized control of much of the west of the country and forced President Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi to flee abroad.Alarmed by the rise of a group they saw as an Iranian proxy, the UAE, Saudi Arabia and seven other Arab states intervened in an attempt to restore the government. The US, UK and France have provided logistical and intelligence support to the coalition and sold it weapons. The UN says at least 7,025 civilians have been killed and 11,140 injured in the fighting, with 65% of the deaths attributed to Saudi-led coalition air strikes. Thousands more civilians have died from preventable causes, including malnutrition, disease and poor health. About 80% of the po[CENSORED]tion - 24 million people - need humanitarian assistance and protection, and almost 10 million who the UN says are just a step away from famine. Almost 240,000 of those people are facing "catastrophic levels of hunger".
