  1. Build Microsoft has followed up the crowd-pleasing announcement of GUI and GPU-enablement for Linux apps running on Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) 2 with details of the tweaks needed to make the magic happen. The team has been busily developing client GPU virtualization technology over the last few Windows releases, integrating the toys into the Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM) from version 2.5 onward. Referred to as WDDM GPU Paravirtualization (GPU-PV), the tech had been limited to Windows running in a VM or container, but with WDDM 2.9. the team is extending a hand to Linux guests via a new Linux kernel driver to expose GPUs to Penguistas. It's a neat trick. The new driver, dxgkrnl, mimics the native WDDM D3DKMT kernel service layer on Windows and uses the VM bus connection to get at the GPUs. "There is," said Microsoft, "no partitioning of resources between Linux and Windows or limit imposed on Linux applications." Microsoft has also made the code of the driver open source, and insists that the Linux dxgkrnl is a "clean room implementation." The change has also meant that the Redmond gang has been able to bring the DirectX API to Linux (in WSL2) as well. "This," boasted the Windows giant, "is the real and full D3D12 API, no imitations, pretender or reimplementation here," although it does admit that there is no presentation integration as yet. WSL is, after all, a console experience. While the D3D12 API is good for offscreen rendering, those pixels cannot, as yet, be flung onto the screen. As well as D3D12, Microsoft has also ported its machine learning API, DirectML and is working on OpenGL and OpenCL to WSL. Support for CUDA in WSL 2 will also turn up in NVIDIA's WDDM 2.9 driver. The gang is, however, remaining tightlipped about its plans for Vulkan. Microsoft was also uncharacteristically open about when Windows Insiders would get their mitts on the new toys. Fast Ring Insiders are currently on the Manganese (Mn) branch and can expect support for DxCore, D3D12, DirectML and NVIDIA CUDA to arrive in June, when the Fast Ring should switch to the Iron (Fe) branch.

  2. No more mistaking GPUs for cars As pointed out by Heise.de this week, Nvidia didn't use the Tesla moniker for its A100 GPU recently announced. Instead, the Ampere-based GPU is simply called the Nvidia A100. The publication suggested that it did this to avoid any confusion with Elon Musk's endeavor. We reached out to Nvidia to confirm this information, and indeed, we won't be seeing any more of Nvidia's scientific and data center GPUs branded as Tesla. In fact, according to the representative, Nvidia ditched the Tesla name back in 2018 with the Nvidia T4. However, Nvidia originally dubbed the GPU the Nvidia Tesla T4 before renaming it. "We began making the change after introducing our Turing-based Nvidia T4 GPU in the fall of 2018 to eliminate any confusion with Tesla Automotive," an Nvidia rep told Tom's Hardware. However, it's clear that not everybody noticed the change. That's not surprising though, given that Nvidia didn't make any announcement about the change.

  4. Do you remember the success that the mobile volumes had a few years ago? This fashion, which Renault and Chrysler knew how to make profitable in Europe, has been overshadowed by SUVs. However, there are still countries where this type of model, together with saloons, maintains a respectable market share. The United States is one of them and one of the most acclaimed minivans is the Toyota Sienna, which these days presents its new generation. The story of the Toyota Sienna starts in the US in 1997. In its first installment it has already emerged, although its rivals Chrsyler and GM did not make things easy for him. Now the situation is the other way around, since it is the Japanese model one of those that sets the pace of the market. And it is not strange, because in these years it has earned a reputation as a reliable model that no one has been able to replicate. If you like it, read on, because the evolution is remarkable. The design of the new Toyota Sienna is intended for the USA The aesthetics of the new Toyota Sienna have been created specifically for North America. So important is its sales volume in the country, that the Japanese firm has trusted the design studios of Newport Beach, California and Ann Arbor, MI, of CALTY. Now, he sports a fresh, modern look that leaves his predecessors light years away and brings him closer to the brand's latest releases. It stands out for the inclusion of a front chaired by an elegantly designed grille. The light groups, which flank it, are more angular and have LED technology. In the lower area there is a simple style bumper, although exaggerated in the lower air intake. Due to their large size, the fog lights are located at the lower ends. On the whole, it is more aggressive, getting very close to the line of the new Highlander. In the side view, although more conservative, there are also changes. They are seen in the format of the wheel arches and power lines, which are now much more marked. In addition, the roofline features a steeper drop that, together with alloy wheels up to 20 inches, provides a sporty touch. The integration of the rear doors, with sliding opening, is perfect, like the sheet-glass ratio. Finally, we must review its rear. Although the Toyota Sienna has nothing to do with the latest Lexus releases, it shows where the inspiration comes from. Especially in the exterior format of the optical groups, reminiscent of those who wear the new UX or NX. The lines that define the gate are more marked, although modularity is not forgotten. We see it because of the low load threshold, very useful to access the generous boot. The Sienna 2021 boasts a modern and highly functional interior If the exterior of the Toyota Sienna looks risky, the interior is very positive. The creative team of the brand did not want to risk, as this model is aimed at conservative families, although dynamic in their way of life. Therefore, the lines that shape your dashboard are modern and very current. In addition, it hides a multitude of holes for carrying objects, such as those located under the "Bridge Console". It stands out for the inclusion of a 9 or 10-inch central touch screen and connectivity with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Alexa. The instrument panel also receives another display, although in this case 7 inches. In it, the driver can check the operation of the hybrid system and the state of charge of the batteries. The steering wheel is similar to the one mounted on the Highlander as well as the format of the secondary controls. At the equipment level, the Toyota Sienna marks a turning point with three levels: XLE, Limited and Platinum. The Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 system will be standard, which, among others, includes automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control with stop and start or lane departure warning with steering assistance. Road marking assistance and automatic changing of low and high beams will also be standard. Hybrid mechanical offer: house brand How could it be otherwise, the new Sienna is powered by a hybrid powertrain. It uses a 2.5-liter Atikinson block with two, or three, electric motors. This configuration is similar to that of the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid although the performance is 181 kW (246 hp). The force reaches the ground through the front axle (two electric motors) or all four wheels (three electric motors) and is managed by the e-CVT transmission. To manage the energy of the system, the Sienna has a selector for driving modes. It has four options: EV, Normal, Eco and Sport, prioritizing the delivery of battery power based on demand. This is possible thanks to the fact that it uses the modern and efficient TNGA platform in declination K. For now, the mechanical offer is limited to this option, although new versions may come later.

  5. The ultimatum has been interpreted by his opponents as part of a strategy to find an external enemy to blame for his mistakes in managing the pandemic Donald Trump today threatened to shut off the tap permanently to the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations agency that the US president again accused of being a "puppet" serving the interests of China. An ultimatum that has been interpreted by his opponents as part of a strategy to find an external enemy to blame for his mistakes in managing the coronavirus pandemic. "They are a puppet from China," denounced the president during a meeting with the press at the White House in which he recalled that the United States is the largest contributor with an annual contribution of $ 450 million to the WHO budget, compared to 38 million that Beijing allocates. Despite this disparity, the United Nations agency "is too focused on China, to say the least," said Trump. Washington already suspended its contributions to the WHO in mid-April, but then it was only temporarily for a period of 60 days while investigating the organization's management of the coronavirus pandemic. But now the US president has raised the tone of his threats and issued an ultimatum with specific dates for a possible final US withdrawal from the United Nations agency. "If the WHO does not carry out substantial substantial improvements in the next thirty days, the temporary freezing that I ordered of our contributions to the organization it leads will be permanent and I will also reconsider our membership in the organization," the president warned in a letter from four pages addressed to its CEO, the Ethiopian Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, which he made public through his Twitter account. Among other allegations, the White House chief wrote that "repeatedly" the WHO has made claims about the coronavirus that were "inaccurate" or, at worst, "misleading" and directly criticized Tedros for not having declared the pandemic before January 30. The UN agency limited itself to acknowledging the letter from Donald Trump and through a spokesman in Geneva explained that they are "evaluating its content." China has already responded in its own way, announcing another $ 2 billion to fight the coronavirus and accusing Washington of creating a smokescreen to avoid making mistakes. An argument shared by Trump's opponents, who have been accusing him for weeks of throwing balls outside and looking for an external enemy to not accept his responsibility in this crisis that has already left 90,000 dead in his country. The president is six months away from having to revalidate his mandate at the polls, and he needs to convince not only his supporters, some of whom have taken their loyalty to the extreme of taking seriously the suggestion he made in late April of using bleach to "cleanse their lungs", but to the large mass of undecided people who need them to vote for him in next November's elections in order to continue for another four years in the White House. Trump's ultimatum to the WHO came the same day that the New York magnate publicly admitted that he has been taking a pill of hydroxychloroquine, the antimalarial drug, combined with zinc for more than a week to prevent possible Covid infection. -19. All despite the fact that doctors and experts and even his own administration have repeatedly said that its effectiveness is not proven. The United States Medicines Agency (FDA) already issued last April an alert in which it advised against its use because it is not demonstrating that hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine are "safe or effective" to treat Covid-19, while The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has also clarified that there is still no drug to prevent or treat coronavirus-related diseases. That Nancy Pelosi took advantage almost immediately to attack Trump again was within the expected range, which is why it hardly surprised anyone that the Speaker of the House of Representatives said shortly afterwards before the CNN chamber that the "people of her old and morbidly obese "you shouldn't be taking a medication that has not been approved by doctors. "You are the President of the United States," he reminded him. But the stupefaction also came from other areas close to the president, such as the conservative Fox News channel. One of its star presenters, Neil Cavuto, was alarmed by the statements the White House chief made about hydroxychloroquine. "If you are part of the po[CENSORED]tion at risk, and you are going to take this medicine as a preventive measure, you have to know something and that is that this can lead to death," he warned.

  6. We kicked off a series of installments on what can happen to cars during mandatory quarantine and what to do to minimize damage. By José Clopatofsky I would say that, in principle, it is not necessary to disconnect the battery and it is better to avoid surprises because when the power of the car is cut, many functions can be deprogrammed such as the radio settings and in general of the entire audio system, the seat memories , alarms, access codes when they exist and other services that depend on the battery generating a tiny dose of energy to keep them awake. Furthermore, it is not ruled out that some circuits of the complex electronic network rebel. The battery is discharged daily to a rat of 0.24% of its capacity, then it must withstand many days with sufficient reserve. In any case, if the battery in the last few days has shown weaknesses when starting the engine and you are not sure of its vitality, then it is worth taking two precautions: disconnect it and, above all, keep on hand some Start because the time may come when there is not enough electricity to activate the vehicle. Disconnecting it is not a complicated task, but be careful not to hit the terminals and do not try to loosen the terminal by making lateral forces that can twist the pole that is anchored in the bottom of the batteries and can break, collapsing them for life. Turning it slightly is enough. Any terminal that disconnects isolates the battery but the usual thing is to drop the negative that could identify if you are not sure of the wiring, there are no signs or there are no colors on the terminals and terminals, because this is thinner than the positive. It is better to play with the negative because many times the batteries are places of difficult access and when loosening the nuts and mani[CENSORED]ting the tools it is very evident to touch the body and if it is the positive, then a monumental spark comes because it makes mass and closes the live circuit. It will not electrocute you but it can cause damage to the car, the tool and an additional scare that is not appropriate these days. Never leave loose tools on top of the battery. If you notice very light sparks when you release the terminal, touch the original post with the cable again and if this repeats it means that there is some slight consumption in the circuits of the car, such as an interior light that stays on and the like. Check that topic well because if something drains the battery, in those quiet conditions the time will come when it dies. Obviously be careful that the tools do not connect both terminals or leave things lying around that can short circuit. Finally, when reconnecting, try to take the opportunity to clean the terminal and terminal well with a soft sandpaper, if you have it, or failing that with bicarbonate diluted in water and if you are in this exercise, take advantage and clean both contacts. The current batteries are maintenance free and sealed, so the internal liquid that is demineralized water is not replaced by nothing less than sulfuric acid, which is poison. If the battery has removable lids for each glass, check the level of the liquid that should be just covering the plates and if necessary add the special water for it or the distilled from the drugstore. Do not exceed this level because it causes damage to the battery and it will breathe by throwing liquid, therefore acid, and more problems will come.

  7. "After it's been controlled." After previously rejecting calls for an investigation into the origin and spread of the coronavirus, Chinese President Xi Jinping was open to a "comprehensive" review of the response to the pandemic. Of course: only when the crisis is resolved. "China supports the idea of a comprehensive review of the global response to covid-19 after [the pandemic] has been brought under control," Xi told the annual meeting of the World Health Organization (WHO) on Monday. digital way. In his video conference address, Xi insisted that his country has been transparent from the beginning, amid criticism - especially from the United States - about its response to the disease in its territory and the transfer of information to other nations. WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said an independent evaluation will be carried out "as soon as possible." More than 4.7 million people have been infected worldwide and more than 310,000 have died since the virus was first identified in the central Chinese city of Wuhan last December. An international investigation? The European Union (EU) presented to the assembly a draft with the proposal for an investigation into how the pandemic has been managed and the lessons that can be learned. EU spokeswoman Virginie Battu-Henriksson said there are several questions to answer as part of this review, including how the virus spread into a pandemic and the epidemiological aspects behind it. "All of this is completely crucial for us to move forward and avoid another pandemic of this type," he stressed. However, the spokesperson considered that this is not the time to "blame" anyone after strong criticism of Beijing or the WHO, especially by Washington. In fact, the EU draft does not specifically mention China, reports Reuters, which ensures that the initiative already has the support of 116 of the 194 member states. The proposal will be voted on Tuesday and requires a two-thirds majority for it to pass. Despite a lack of criticism of this initiative, an EU report last month accused China of spreading false information about the crisis. The bloc's External Action Service noted that Russia, and to a lesser extent China, had promoted "conspiracy narratives." Transparency and $ 2 billion At a time when China's external image has been seriously damaged, Xi defended his country's actions to control the virus and announced a $ 2 billion grant to support countries affected by the pandemic, particularly nations poorer. "In all this time, we have displayed an open, responsible and transparent attitude. We have transferred information to the WHO and the countries involved in the most timely manner," for example, when sharing the coronavirus genome sequence, he stressed. . Xi renewed his support for the WHO and asked for more political and financial support for this organization, in clear contrast to the line followed by the United States, which recently announced the withdrawal of its financial contribution to the institution. The Chinese leader insisted that the "comprehensive review" of what happened should be carried out under the supervision of the WHO and in an "objective and impartial" manner. "Dialectical battle" Washington, for its part, intervened in the discussions with harsh criticism of the WHO. The Secretary of Health of the United States, Alex Azar, considered that the organism "failed in its mission" to share information with the international community about the pandemic and asked that it assume its responsibilities for it. "This cannot happen again, the WHO must be much more transparent and accountable," he said. Azar added that there was also "a country that did not display transparency", referring to China. The BBC's correspondent specialized in Global Health affairs, Tulip Mazumdar, predicted a "dialectical war" between the USA. and China in these two days of the assembly and pointed out that more calls are expected for a WHO research team to enter China to investigate the origin of the virus. "Until now, only international teams have been allowed to enter alongside Chinese authorities. The United States and others, including Australia, will undoubtedly ask. It is highly unlikely that China will accept." However, Washington could distance itself from the European Union initiative in one crucial aspect: guaranteeing global access to vaccines and sharing vaccine patents, observers of international policy warn.

  8. This as a measure to overcome the economic crisis. Faced with the adversities of the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic, the McLaren Group is considering various financing options, including mortgaging some of its assets. According to Sky News, McLaren Group aims to raise money to overcome the global financial crisis by pawning its headquarters located in Woking, UK, and an extensive collection of race cars, which is listed as one of the most valuable in the world. By putting the historic facilities and cars into service, McLaren aims to raise more than 300 million euros, which would be used to face the economic impact that the pandemic is causing. According to the British media, this McLaren mortgage measure came after the British government denied him a loan of 150 million euros in mid-March 2020. Regarding McLaren's collection of race cars, they are said to be priced at tens of millions of pounds each - some were driven by Ayrton Senna, the former F1 world champion, and Bruce McLaren, founder of the company - which when added together they give a value of more than 280 million euros. McLaren's Woking facility is also estimated to be worth more than € 225 million independently. Currently, the McLaren Group, which includes the car manufacturing, motorsports division and technology department, employs 3,700 people, of whom 850 work for the Formula 1 team.

  9. German scientist Christian Drosten is not only one of the world's leading coronavirus experts. It has also become the current pandemic in a whole media star in your country. Its podcast, simply called "Das Coronavirus Update", or "Coronavirus Update", is the most po[CENSORED]r on the iTunes list not only in Germany but in Austria. A page on Instagram of "Drosten fans" even reveals the scientist's memes. In one of them the image of the expert appears along with others of the actor Jeff Goldblum with the message "he fought dinosaurs and aliens, so I have confidence in him with the virus." Drosten is director of the Virology Institute at the prestigious Charité Hospital in Berlin. And he is recognized as one of the three scientists who discovered the SARS virus, another type of coronavirus that in 2002-2003 infected about 8,000 people in about 30 countries and caused about 800 deaths. Since the covid-19 began its meteoric expansion on the planet, the expert advises the German chancellor, Angela Merkel, on the pandemic. And the diagnostic test created by his laboratory is now used in many countries around the world. One reason for the podcast's success "could be that, in these uncertain times, it makes us feel good that someone seems to have at least some of the answers," Holger Wormer, professor of journalism at Dortmund Technical University, told BBC News. Drosten's podcast offers the public a unique opportunity: ask an expert who has been on the front lines of the coronavirus fight for years. The discovery of the SARS virus Drosten grew up in a family of farmers in northern Germany. He studied medicine in Frankfurt, was a professor at the University of Bonn and shortly afterwards director of the Institute of Virology at that academic center. Coronavirus in Germany: Reproduction rate increases within days of relaxing quarantine In 2002 the scientist was working in the molecular diagnostic laboratory of the Bernhard Nocht Institute for Tropical Medicine in Hamburg when he received blood samples from a Singapore doctor. The doctor, who had traveled to Germany, had symptoms similar to those of a new respiratory disease that was spreading throughout Asia and which the World Health Organization (WHO) had just dubbed "severe acute respiratory syndrome" or SARS, due to its acronym in English. Drosten discovered that it was an unknown enemy, a new member of the coronavirus family. Almost at the same time two experts in other centers reached the same conclusion, J.S. Malik Peiris at the University of Hong Kong and Larry J. Anderson at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the United States. The German scientist also played a central role in the fight against another epidemic caused by a coronavirus, the Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS), which has caused more than 800 deaths since 2012 according to the WHO. Drosten collaborated with researchers in Saudi Arabia where the first case of MERS was identified and his laboratory in Bonn developed a test to detect the presence of the virus causing the disease. In 2017, the expert began working at the Charité Hospital. In January 2020, shortly after researchers in China released the first covid-19 virus genome, their laboratory in Berlin was the first to produce a diagnostic test. That same month, the WHO released the test protocol on its website, allowing other countries to produce their own tests to diagnose the disease. What motivated an expert like Drosten, in the front line of the current pandemic, to devote part of his time faithfully to a podcast? “I used to appear on television often, but the way they shorten and cut your statements makes the message completely diluted. That frustrated me, ”Drosten told the German press. The idea for the podcast came from Norbert Grundei, producer of the German public radio station NDR. Grundei felt that the public was not being well informed about the covid-19 threat, despite "having one of the world's leading experts on the virus here." It was then that the producer decided to contact Drosten with the idea of a podcast and the response was immediate. “Just three hours later he answered me saying‘ Now I am on the street but I think it is a good idea. I can start on Monday, ’” Grundei told reporters. Three days after that call, the first episode of "Das Coronavirus Update" was already available. "You can talk and they don't cut what you say" Drosten reportedly insisted on having enough time to respond, so his explanations may take several minutes. For Holger Wormer, the style of the podcast "is somewhat dated, a scientist explains for 30 or 45 minutes with comparatively few questions." "I think that without the extremely high interest that already existed due to the pandemic, not so many people would listen to a format that is quite complicated for the general public." The podcast is divided into two parts, in the first one a scientific journalist interviews the expert, and in the second he answers questions from the public. For Drosten, the appeal of a podcast compared to other formats is that "you can talk more and they don't cut what you say to leave something out, making it more authentic communication." The podcast started out daily but is now broadcast twice a week and lasts from half an hour to about 50 minutes. With about 40 episodes, "Das Coronavirus Update" continues to have an average of one million downloads per program. "I only drink bottled beer" Drosten answers questions about all aspects of the pandemic in his podcast. Her measured way of expressing herself has been compared to that of Angela Merkel, who has a PhD in Physics and is known for including scientific explanations in her messages. In a recent episode, someone asked Drosten for his opinion on a well-known scientist's suggestion that the covid-19 virus was created in a genetically engineered laboratory. The expert replied: “Well, it is difficult for a scientist in the field of virology to say that a Nobel Prize winner in the same field is saying nonsense. But what he said is complete nonsense. " Drosten also offers advice. In March, he recommended that the public never drink beer served directly from the tap in bars, because the glasses are often not clean. "I have only had bottled beer for many years," he said. But the scientist also knows its limitations. And he pointed out that he would not have accepted the idea of the podcast if it were a topic that he does not know in depth. "I can only do this podcast because it is on the subject that I work on," he said. Threats of death Drosten's po[CENSORED]rity and his advice to Merkel have also caused problems. In an interview with the British newspaper The Guardian, Drosten pointed out that some people in Germany "because they don't see the overflowing hospitals, they don't understand why they should have closed the stores." "For them I am the villain who is paralyzing the economy." "I have received death threats, which I have passed on to the police," added the scientist. "But I am more concerned with other emails, those of those who write to me saying they have three children and are worried about the future ... Those are the messages that keep me awake at night." Comparison with Stephen Hawking When Drosten started his podcast on February 26, there were fewer than 30 confirmed cases of covid-19 in Germany. Currently the number of deaths in that country exceeds 7,000 and questions to virology experts seem more necessary than ever. In times of pandemic, the eagerness to hear scientists directly is not a phenomenon unique to Germany. Experts like Anthony Fauci in the United States or Anders Tegnell in Sweden have become extremely po[CENSORED]r figures in their countries. Coronavirus in Germany: the country gives the green light to reopen stores and restart football without spectators But Wormer points out that in a democracy, "I would not want to do without the counterpart of good journalists who critically examine what both politicians and scientists say." Wormer compares Drosten to British physicist Stephen Hawking.

  10. They are not noisy, they do not emit polluting gases and a world championship has even been created for them. Electric cars are the future of mobility and in Peru the market is in full growth. The Gothic chapel of the Hellenic Cultural Center looked full. It is a historic site, one of the most beautiful in Mexico City. Masses have not been celebrated there for a long time. Instead, there are plays, colorful shows and events like the one we witnessed a few days ago. With smartphones in hand, ready to take all kinds of photos and videos, dozens of journalists from around the world listened carefully to the words of the Porsche representatives, who presented the Taycan. That is the name of the new electric sports vehicle with which the German brand hopes to revolutionize the world of electromobility. The covers that covered it were removed and there we saw it: more than a car, it looked like a Transformer. Among the announcements that Porsche made that elegant night, there was one that has to do with Peru. Yes, the Taycan will be sold in our country. And that is something unique, because never before has a car with those characteristics (sporty and 100% electric) been offered in this piece of South America. This is what part of the interior of the Porsche Taycan looks like. A luxury. The Peruvian electric car market is in full growth. In 2016 only a dozen were imported, while in 2018 the amount amounted to 400, according to data from the specialized magazine Automás. It is necessary to clarify that not all these cars that circulate in Peru are 100% electric. The vast majority are hybrid cars. What does that mean? They combine two systems: the traditional one (gasoline) and the electric one. “Most of these models load automatically as the car moves forward. They do not need to be plugged into a power source. But once the battery is operational, fuel is saved and the environment is taken care of, ”explains Edwin Derteano, former president of the Automotive Association of Peru (AAP). The electrical ones, on the other hand, work as if they were an ordinary cell phone. These can be charged in two ways: 1) At home. It can take six or seven hours to fill all the bars in the stack. 2) In service stations with electric chargers. Vehicles can be ready there in minutes. “They all come with two types of plugs. One like the one we see in all the devices we use every day, and another more industrial, with a thicker cable, which supports much more current, "explains Derteano, an expert in transportation issues. Few know it, but electro-taps already exist in our country. In Lima, for now, there are three points: in the Republic of Panama, the Rambla de San Borja and San Isidro (between Javier Prado and Los Castaños). In Arequipa there is also one and the Jockey Plaza is close to enabling theirs. They practically do not sound, nor do they emit toxic gases and their maintenance is minimal. Can we dream of a country on whose roads more electric vehicles than fuel circulate? “Countries such as Colombia and Chile have made great progress on this issue, and our work is to encourage the private sector, local governments and other bodies involved to initially promote electromobility in public transport. It can even be important for cargo transportation or motorcycle taxi service, ”says electromobility specialist Omar Afa. Another important factor is the price. Currently, its cost is well above conventional cars. Elliot Tarazona, former AAP technical manager, believes that between 2024 and 2025 the outlook will be totally different. "From there the electric car revolution in the world will begin," he told Gestión.pe. The advances in science regarding these technologies are growing by leaps and bounds. Formula E, the world championship in electric single-seater racing, is proof of this. Every time they make them faster, more powerful and, although the public is still not completely used to it, more and more fans are attending these races. "It is a means of demonstrating the potential of sustainable mobility, in order to create a better and cleaner world," explains the tournament's official website.

  11. Once upon a time there was a discreet and enigmatic art of governing in China. Henry Kissinger, a former US secretary of state, wrote in his influential study Diplomacy ("Diplomacy", 1994) that "Beijing's diplomacy was so subtle and indirect that it was largely overlooked in Washington." Western governments used sinologists to interpret the opaque signals emanating from China's political bureau. Under the mandate of its former leader, Deng Xiaoping, the country's declared strategy was "to hide the force and wait for the moment." It's not like that. China is sending the world through social media an increasingly influential cadre of diplomats to confront everyone with a frankness that is sometimes dazzling. Its aim is to defend China's handling of the coronavirus pandemic and challenge those who question Beijing's version of events. They take care of launching hordes of persistent tweets and posts from their embassy accounts around the world. And they contain little, displaying sarcasm and aggression in equal parts. Such is the novelty of his techniques that have been called "wolf warrior" diplomats by eponymous action movies. Wolf Warrior ("Lobo guerrero" for its official title in Spanish) and Wolf Warrior 2 ("Lobo guerrero 2") are very po[CENSORED]r films in which China's elite special forces confront mercenaries led by the United States and others. crooks. They have a violent and nationalistic tone to the extreme. A critic called them "Rambo with Chinese characteristics". A promotional poster featured an image of the protagonist sticking out his middle finger next to the slogan: "Anyone who offends China, no matter how far away it is, must be exterminated." In a recent editorial, the Chinese Communist Party newspaper Global Times stated that people "were no longer satisfied with a weak diplomatic tone" and said the West is challenged by China's new "wolf warrior" diplomacy. A new kind of language Perhaps the quintessential "wolf warrior" is Lijian Zhao, China's young foreign affairs spokesman. He is the official who made the unfounded suggestion that the United States may have brought the coronavirus to Wuhan. He has more than 600,000 followers on Twitter and exploits that audience almost at all hours: tweeting, retweeting and clicking "Like" on everything that promotes and defends China. Of course, that is what diplomats anywhere in the world should do: it is their job to advance the national interest of their country. But few diplomats use language, after all, so little diplomatic. Consider, for example, the Chinese Embassy in India, which described calls to China to pay compensation for spreading the virus as "ridiculous and flashy nonsense." The Chinese ambassador to the Netherlands, on the other hand, accused US President Donald Trump of being "full of racism." In response to Trump's much-derided speculation about the best ways to fight the virus, the Chinese Communist Party's chief spokesman in Beijing tweeted: "The President is right. Some people should be given #disinfectant, or at least do gargle with him. That way they won't spread the virus, the lies, and the hate of talking. " In London, China's "wolf warrior" is Ma Hui, number 3 in the embassy. His Twitter username includes the word warhors (similar to warriors, English warrior, or war horse, workhorse), and is as prolific as he is robust. Ma Hui tweeted, "Some American leaders have demeaned themselves so much to lie, misinform, blame, stigmatize. It is very despicable, but we should not lower our standard, fall to the lowest. They don't care much about morality, integrity, but We can. We can also combat their stupidity. " Now, much of it can remind us of the familiar bustle of social media. But for China it is a great change. Research by the German Marshall Fund (GMF) in the US suggests that there has been a 300% increase in the official Twitter accounts of the Chinese state in the last year, with up to four times more posts. Kristine Berzina, a GMF researcher, said this is "very unusual compared to what we usually expect from China." "In the past, the public face of China has been to show a positive image of the country. There were stimuli for friendship. The cute videos of pandas were much more common than the harsh executions of government policies. So this is really a great change". And this is clearly a decision regarding its policy by the Chinese authorities. In an article for Foreign Affairs magazine, Kevin Rudd, a former Australian prime minister, argued that China is paying a price for its new strategy. "Regardless of what China's new generation of 'wolf warrior' diplomats may be saying to Beijing, the truth is that China's reputation has taken a huge hit (the irony is that these wolf warriors are adding to that damage, not paling it) ". "The anti-China reaction to the spread of the virus, often racially charged, has been seen in countries as disparate as India, Indonesia and Iran. China's soft power is at risk of destruction." The risk is that China's diplomatic steadfastness may further tighten attitudes in the West, with countries becoming more suspicious and less willing to commit to Beijing. In the United States, China has already become a problem in the presidential election, and both candidates compete to be tougher than the other. The question is whether these diplomatic tensions will deepen into a more serious confrontation between China and the West. This is important not only because of the general risks of escalation, but also because there is much that the world needs to cooperate with. In the short term, research, testing, development and distribution of a covid-19 vaccine will require international cooperation, including from China. In the long term, most analysts expect some form of global collective action to repair the world economy. But the chances of that happening seem slim. Bonnie Glaser, director of the Chinese Power Project at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Washington, said: "If the United States and China do not put aside their differences to work together to combat a global pandemic, it is hard to believe they will find a way to work together to boost their economies. " Some analysts argue that while the West will have to increase its strategic independence from China after the pandemic, it will also have to find a new framework for cooperation. The diplomacy of China's "wolf warriors" may not make it easy.

  12. We met her as RMK Vehicles, a Finnish-born star-up who has now been renamed Verge Motorcycles. We were surprised with its advanced ES electric, but especially for its rear wheel with perimeter traction. The E2 has been renamed TS and is ready to go into production, and can be ordered by leaving a down payment of € 2,000 that will be subtracted from the final price, which is € 24,990. It is not, therefore, a cheap motorcycle, but the fact that it is an almost exclusive product, with quality components and good benefits partly justifies its high price. In fact, you will have to fight with bikes of the Harley LiveWire level, for example. Good performance The engine is declared no less than 109 hp (80 kW) of power and a brutal torque of 1,000 Nm, which must provide you with a few best recoveries and acceleration, with 180 km / h of declared maximum speed. According to Verge Motorcycles, the autonomy will be 200 km on the highway and 300 km in the city, charging the batteries in 4 hours with slow charge and in 40-45 minutes with the fast charger. The chassis is aluminum and has been designed and built in-house, the suspensions are Öhlins and the front brake is Brembo. As it lacks a rear hub there is no brake on the rear axle either, and the braking of this axle corresponds to the motor itself, operated with a handlebar lever. Both brakes are therefore controlled by hand. There are two sets of footrests, some very advanced and others much further back. Verge's idea is that they serve both driver and passenger and that the first can adopt a relaxed or sporty driving position if you travel alone. Verge Motorcycles intends to make the first TS deliveries later this year.

  13. Saidul Hoque, who was born in the Cox's Bazar refugee camp in Bangladesh, already warned in an interview with a UNHCR team in mid-April: "If Covid-19 reaches the camp, it would be devastating. Here seven people share a two-meter house. They ask us to maintain social distance, but how can we do it? " The news came last night, caressing the dawn: two people have tested positive for coronavirus in the largest refugee camp in the world. He is a Rohingya refugee and a member of the local community. They are the first confirmed cases among the 860,000 people camping at Cox's Bazar. In addition, one of the positives has been reported within the Kutupalong camp, the most overcrowded (living between 40,000 and 70,000 people) of the 34 in this fishing port on the west coast of Bangladesh. "Now that the virus has entered the settlement, we are seeing the very real possibility that thousands of people may die from Covid-19," said Dr. Shamim Jahan, director of health for Save the Children in the Asian country. Another drama that may be brewing for the Rohingya Muslim minority who fled Myanmar's ethnic cleansing on the fateful August 2017. Saidul Hoque's parents fled military persecution well before, in 1992, along with 14,000 other Rohingya. Kutupalong settled and his son was the first generation of refugees born in the camp. When Kutupalong closed on March 14 in an attempt to stop the spread of the virus, Saidul began recording videos so that his colleagues could understand the importance of this pandemic and learn to protect themselves. But the internet in the camp has been closed since last year. Which means that people cannot access crucial public health information. Therefore, Saidul had to take his awareness videos door to door. "Before the coronavirus, the camp streets were full and our mosques were full of people. Since the isolation was declared, everything has changed. People are afraid, they only leave home if they need something urgent," Saidul said in his interview. with UNHCR. "To prevent coronavirus, we all need to wash our hands frequently, but we don't have enough toilets. We don't even have enough water to meet our basic needs. We are totally dependent on NGOs and the Government of Bangladesh because we cannot protect ourselves from this virus," continued. MASK FACTORIES For the past month and a half, international agencies and the refugees themselves have been working nonstop to make cloth masks, soaps so people can wash their hands and improve access to clean water. Although they have been able to count on much less aid because the authorities of Bangladesh forced the NGOs to reduce their presence in the camp by 80%. Following the news of the two positive cases, UNHCR has reported that some 1,900 refugees have been isolated to pass the coronavirus tests. In addition to overcrowding problems in camps such as the one in Kutupalong, there are precarious health infrastructures that can help the virus to spread much faster. And safety distances are impossible to meet. Starting because, as reported by Doctors Without Borders, the Roghingyas have to queue for hours to get some food and water every day. Health experts extend their concern that in Bangladesh, cases of coronavirus continue to rise. 18,863 infections and 283 deaths have already been reported. "There are an estimated 2,000 fans nationwide serving a po[CENSORED]tion of 160 million. And in Rohingya refugee camps, for example, there are no intensive care beds at this time," explains Dr. Shamim. Jahan from Save The Children. Meanwhile, from Myanmar, boats continue to leave with Rohingyas seeking to reach one of the refugee camps in Bangladesh or Malaysia. Although in the latter country, where around 100,000 live, xenophobia against it has continued to grow since the start of the pandemic. In April we learned that 60 of these refugees had died in a boat that had been at sea for two months waiting to dock in Malaysia. The closure of borders of Asian countries due to the pandemic has meant that many ships with refugees are trapped in Indian waters. Also in April, around 400 were rescued from another ship stranded at sea after escaping two months before the fields of Cox's Bazar. Many of them were taken to Bhashan Char Island in the Bay of Bengal, where the Government of Bangladesh built facilities to house 100,000 people last year to alleviate overcrowding in its refugee camps.

  14. How the moderate intake of this alcoholic beverage influences after sports practice Diet, physical exercise and the importance of hydration in sports performance as part of an active lifestyle. These have been the main topics addressed in the conferences "Nutrition, Sport and Lifestyle of the athlete" that are taking place in different universities throughout the Spanish geography. These presentations have been organized by the Beer and Health Information Center (CICS). Sports and nutrition professionals have debated the athlete's diet and lifestyle. In addition, they have also explained the role of moderate beer consumption in recovery after physical activity, or the effects of moderate beer intake in people who undergo high intensity training (HIIT). Nutrition in sport Diet directly influences the performance of the athlete, so people who exercise regularly should have a nutritional strategy. In the words of Dr. Jesús Bernardo, medical specialist in Sports Nutrition and Founder and director of the Nutrition, Food and Metabolism Unit (UNAM), "athletes must synchronize nutrition and training to improve their results, since only through a Proper nutrition ensures the proper functioning of all metabolic functions. " One of the strategies recommended by Dr. Bernardo is to plan the feeding before the competition. The previous days, it is recommended to take carbohydrates that provide the optimal amount of glycogen and increase resistance capacity, while he has advised avoiding foods rich in protein or fat because they require more energy to digest them and make gastric emptying difficult. For fans who practice sports weekly, it has been suggested to eat foods rich in carbohydrates. However, Dr. Bernardo recalls that the importance lies in "ordering food intake and not restricting it, so if carbohydrates are recommended before playing sports to increase endurance, beverages with high water content and low alcohol content like beer have a place after exercise to recover from the effort made. " Post-workout rehydration The specialists agree on the importance of an adequate recovery of the losses that have occurred during the exercise. These include water and mineral salts that can be lost by sweat in significant amounts. In this sense, Prof. Manuel Castillo, Professor of Medical Physiology at the University of Granada, underlines the need to "recover these losses due to the replacement effect it has and because it determines the correct regeneration of damaged structures, which improves the performance and prevents injury. " In addition to water, following the conclusions of the study 'Suitability of beer in the recovery of the metabolism of athletes', Dr. Castillo explains that "beer, so commonly consumed, could be an option to replace hydro-losses minerals that are produced with sweat and facilitate recovery thanks to the organoleptic characteristics and metabolic substrates that this drink provides, such as antioxidants, B vitamins and amino acids. " Therefore, moderate consumption of beer (between one and two rods a day for women and between two and three for men) could promote rehydration without affecting sports performance. In fact, this specialist has also taken the opportunity to present the main conclusions of his latest study "BEER-HIIT: Beer or Ethanol Effects on the Body Composition Response to High-Intensity Interval Training", the first study in the scientific literature investigating the influence of consumption beer beer in the psycho-physiological response to a high intensity training program (HIIT). Among the main conclusions of the first study, Dr. Castillo highlighted that "the results obtained show that a 10-week HIIT program does not change weight but significantly improves body composition by decreasing fat mass and increasing lean mass in healthy adults These positive effects are not influenced by the intake of beer, or its alcohol equivalent, in moderate amounts, and the intake of beer or its alcohol equivalent during exercise does not affect the distribution of body fat. In addition, the scientific evidence derived from this research shows that the improvement in body composition caused by this form of training, characterized by a decrease in the amount of fat and an increase in the amount of muscle, is not influenced by the regular intake of beer. Nor has it been observed that such ingestion

One of the affected companies was Mercedes-Benz, which has announced that it has already successfully restarted production. The plants in Untertürkheim, Berlin, Hamburg, Sindelfingen and Bremen are the first to enter this measure. The first three, dedicated to the production of engines and components, began gradually on April 20. The last two, meanwhile, did so this week. Added to this measure was the restart of activities at the Rastatt plant on May 4. While the Mercedes-Benz locations in Kölleda and Arnstadt (MDC Power and MDC Technology), such as those in Sebes / Cugir (Romania), Kecskemét (Hungary) and Tuscaloosa (USA) will gradually resume production. Recall that the Mercedes-Benz plant located in the city of Hamburg is responsible for the production of axles and axle components necessary for the assembly of the company's vehicles around the world. On the other hand, the Kamenz plant, in charge of creating the batteries for EQ and 48 V plug-in hybrids, worked continuously and in short-term phases (taking all safety measures) during the suspension of activities globally .

  16. The famous Scheveningen beach in the Netherlands sports flowers and bands of mourning. The resort, the destination of thousands of tourists and adventurers every summer, was the scene this week of a tragedy that authorities are still investigating. At least five surfers drowned after the beach's water and sand was covered in a thick, high layer of foam. Does the Netherlands still deserve its fame as the most liberal and 'coolest' country in Europe? "Linguicide": the country that is afraid of losing its language because the universities do not use it As reported by the Royal Netherlands Maritime Rescue Organization (KNRM), despite a large-scale search operation, they only managed to save a member of a group of surfers. The organization explained that the marine foam, which according to some witnesses reached more than a meter in height, made rescue tasks difficult, as did the weather conditions. "The search for the missing surfers was complicated by the person-sized foam layer. High wind and high wave conditions also made the task difficult," they said in a statement. During the rescue, which involved police, firefighters, the coast guard, KNRM units and other emergency workers, authorities even used a helicopter to try to clear the foam, but the result was unsuccessful. Finally, they could only rescue four bodies and the fifth, despite being spotted, was swallowed by the waters. The accident generated unusual signs of mourning among the po[CENSORED]tion of The Hague, the city where the beach is located, who went to the vicinity of the coast to pay tribute to the victims. The city's mayor, Johan Remkes, described the events as a "terrible tragedy" and promised an investigation to clarify the causes that led to the death of "young, physically fit athletes, who knew the sea like the back of their hands. hand". "The great pain among the people of the Scheveningen community is unfathomable. People here understand better than anyone that the sea gives and the sea takes away, but the way in which so many young lives abruptly ended and so many families and groups of friends they have been affected is incredibly brutal, "he said. What is the reason for marine foam? It is not the first time this year that high levels of sea foam have been reported in Europe. Last January, a dense layer flooded streets of the old town of Tossa de Mar, in Catalonia, Spain. The Royal Netherlands Sea Research Institute (NIOZ) announced on Tuesday that it will conduct an investigation to determine the origin of the natural phenomenon that may have contributed to the tragedy. "We take samples and we will analyze them quickly. We are also analyzing the conditions that allowed such a thick layer of foam to form," the institution told the Dutch newspaper Des Volkskrant. According to a NIOZ report, the foam that had been concentrated off the coast comes from a species of algae that generally inhabits the waters of the North Sea. The algae blooms in spring and, at the end of the flowering period, the cells disintegrate and a similar residual material is released, which when moved by the wind and waves forms this foam that floats in the water. Given that good weather has recently been reported in the area, experts believe that this may have contributed to the algae blooming and the colonies that form them disintegrating. According to KNRM, on the afternoon of the accident, a strong north wind was blowing, unusual at this time of year, which may have contributed to the increase in the level of the foam. How do you explain why so much foam has been given? According to research from the University of Vienna (Austria) and published in the journal Water Research, this phenomenon can be found in almost all natural water bodies, under the circumstances. Among them, they indicate the environmental conditions, such as temperature or the amount of algae and the action of strong winds or storms that move the water to generate the foam. Tjisse van der Heide, another NIOZ expert, told the Trouw newspaper that when these conditions are met, the algae can produce "enormous" amounts of foam. "In winter, the sea is very nutritious, and when the light comes with spring, the algae explode like a virus. That has clearly happened here," he said. However, according to van der Heide, the presence of algae in the area is now less than it was in the 1980s. The growth of algae is promoted by agricultural residues (manure, phosphate and nitrogen) that are washed into the sea by rivers. How could it affect surfers? According to the Dutch authorities, one of the questions that remains to be answered is how the foam may have affected the death of surfers. One of the hypotheses is that given the height it reached, it could have disoriented them by limiting their visibility. However, the NIOZ

  18. Cybercriminals are increasing their spoofing attacks An investigation released today from cybersecurity firm Proofpoint has found that 80% of banks currently accredited by the UK government for Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme (CBILS) loans could be putting loan applicants at risk of fraudulent email attacks during the application process. Only 13 out of the 64 accredited banks have implemented the adequate level of protection, which stops cybercriminals from spoofing their identity to defraud victims (known as DMARC - Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting & Conformance). This protocol stops cybercriminals spoofing an organisation’s identity and decreases the risk of email fraud for customers. Cybercriminals regularly use spoofing to pose as government bodies or respected institutions, such as banks or financial organisations, by sending an email from a supposedly legitimate sender address. This makes it almost impossible for an ordinary internet user to identify a fake sender from a real one. While the findings suggest 80% of accredited banks are not proactively blocking fraudulent emails from reaching targets, of the 64 accredited banks, 61% have no published DMARC record at all. This is leaving them wide open to impersonation attacks. It comes at a time of heightened risk as the volume of cyberattacks utilising Covid-19 has increased dramatically. Initially, Proofpoint was seeing about one campaign a day worldwide but the team is now observing three to four each day across several languages. Preventative measures “By not implementing simple, yet effective email authentication best practices, these accredited organisations are putting already vulnerable businesses at even greater risk, whilst Covid-19 related attacks are on the rise.” said Adenike Cosgrove, Cybersecurity Strategist, International at Proofpoint. “In times of urgency and uncertainty, individuals are much more susceptible to these kinds of attacks, particularly if a fraudulent email looks like it has come from a genuine domain. In tandem with the fact that the UK government has mandated this email authentication standard for public sector organisations, having the recommended level of DMARC protection is essential for any organisation accredited for the CBILS.” In light of the increased risks, businesses should be wary of any communication that instructs them to hand over personal information or financial details. People should also ignore all unexpected solicitations by email. Banks will not ask for highly sensitive information via these channels. Business owners should also avoid clicking on unknown links, even from senders that appear official. If the information contained in an email looks legitimate, corroborate it with an official source. In addition, keep an eye out for spelling and grammatical errors. If an official-looking email includes spelling mistakes, it’s unlikely to be legitimate. To assess the level of DMARC adoption among CBILS-accredited lenders, Proofpoint conducted an analysis of the corporate domains of the 64 organisations featured on British Business Bank’s list of current accredited lenders and partners as of May 11th 2020.

  19. A more powerful Chromebook C330 AMD appears to be gaining ground in a segment that's predominantly dominated by Intel. A user on Reddit recently discovered an AMD listing of a Lenovo Chromebook C330 device that employs one of the chipmaker's Ryzen APUs. The listing has since been removed. The Chromebook C330 isn't a new product. Lenovo revealed the convertible 2-in-1 Chromebook back in 2018. However, the laptop was previously available with a puny quad-core MediaTek MT8173C SoC. The new Ryzen-powered model should bring stronger performance in both the processing and graphics departments. The MT8173C is fabricated on the 28nm process node and binds two Cortex-A72 and two Cortex-A53 cores in a big.LITTLE setup. The version inside the Chromebook C330 tops out at 1.7 GHz. On the other hand, the Ryzen 5 Pro 3500U (codename Picasso) is on a more recent 12nm process node. The four-core, eight-thread APU is based off AMD's Zen+ microarchitecture. It checks in with a 2.1 GHz base clock and 3.7 GHz boost clock inside a 15W package. On the graphics end, the MT8173C comes with the PowerVR GX6250 iGPU, which has 64 FP32 ALUs with a maximum clock speed of 700 MHz. The Ryzen 5 Pro 3500U rocks eight Vega Compute Units (CUs) that scale up to 1,200 MHz. What's perplexing, however, is the Chromebook is apparently using a last-gen APU. AMD has already unleashed the Ryzen 4000-series (codename Renoir) chips that not only employs the Zen 2 microarchitecture but also takes advantage of TSMC's 7nm FinFET manufacturing process. Maybe AMD is trying to offload leftover inventory and offering Picasso at hard-to-ignore prices. In any case, the Ryzen 5 Pro 3500U is still a huge step up from the MT8173C. AMD listed the Chromebook C330 with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. If this AMD model takes after the original version, then we can expect Lenovo to be using LPDDR3-1866 and eMMC, respectively. On the storage end, 32GB isn't a lot to work with -- even on a Chromebook. We can only hope that AMD listed the base model, and there will other models with bigger storage or an option to add an SSD. The $303.99 price tag on the now-removed listing would make the AMD-powered Chromebook C330 extremely attractive, especially when the MediaTek model is selling for $299.99. In its defense, the latter does come with 64GB of storage.

The Honda Monkey is already a whim bike by itself: with its small size and being a single-seater it is not that it is very logical -even though its size makes it very manageable- but, being really attractive, nobody would mind having one in your garage ... The German 3D printing company, Viba, has made its own version of the Monkey in 3D printing, creating all the aesthetic elements on a computer and then printing them on its industrial printers. Yann Bakonyi, the founder of VIBA, said: “At trade fairs we see a lot of 3D printed things, but they are generally only made for display and not functional. This project was to demonstrate that 3D printing can be integrated into an industrial process and that it works perfectly. ” On whether the result improves the original Monkey ... well, rather not, although for tastes, colors ... On why VIBA chose the Honda and not another, Bakonyi said: “Everyone knows the Monkey. We decided to reinvent it because, every time we are building a project at VIBA, we care about telling a story. We wanted to relive the childhood memories of their owners. " Well, if they say so ... One final detail: the Viba Monkey costs around € 30,000. Yes, the price of a Panigale V4 or a CBR1000RR-R, and there we leave it ...

There's also no mute button in Google Duo's family mode, which is intended to avoid conversations being interrupted accidentally by a wayward click or tap. It's not yet clear if or when these features will be brought to Duo for web, but sketches seem like a natural fit for a larger screen. Decisions, decisions... This will eventually drop to one hour, but not until September 30. With WhatsApp Web soon to offer video conferencing for up to 50 people via Facebook Messenger Rooms, and new tools like Twilio arriving on the scene, there are now so many free options available, the hardest part might be making sure everyone agrees which one to use.
