  1. "It is very common to confuse botox with filler substances. For example, when you see a prominent mouth or high cheekbones, it is thought to be caused by the application of botox. But it is necessary to clarify that botox is not applied to the lips, nor does it confer volume on the treated areas ", explains Dr. Facundo Melgarejo. Botox and hyaluronic acid are the most po[CENSORED]r substances and practices most chosen by experts, when facing a non-invasive treatment. Both have the effect of rejuvenating and refreshing the appearance of the face, but there are differences between each substance. Everything about botox Botox or Botulinum Toxin Type A is used throughout the world. It is a protein that temporarily relaxes the muscle in which it is applied, attenuating wrinkles of expression, those that form with the face in movement. In each expression, when laughing or crying, the muscles of the face contract and, over time, the activity of these muscles produces wrinkles such as the lines of the forehead, of the eyebrows or crow's feet. The application of botox is a minimally invasive, fast and painless process that does not require an allergy test, takes a few minutes and patients can continue with their usual rhythm of life. It is applied through micro-injections directly in the muscle responsible for the formation of the wrinkle and, by temporarily relaxing it, prevents the formation of new lines of expression, as its effect prevents the deepening of existing wrinkles and the formation of new acting in a preventive way, therefore the application of botox is recommended from 30 years on women and men. The initial effects are visible between 48 to 72 hours after treatment, and the maximum results after 15 days. The botox is applied in visible dynamic wrinkles with the face in motion, and it is recommended to apply it in the upper area of the face: the forehead, the eyebrows and the crow's feet, but it is also possible to apply it for the wrinkles of the nose (those that form at the sides of the nose when one laughs), some areas of the neck, the corners of the lips and to outline the contour of the face and reposition the eyebrows. The decrease of the effect is gradual and the duration of its results is from 4 to 6 months, depending on the metabolism of each patient, the technique of application and the dose used. Once the effect ends, the patient returns to the state prior to the application. Hyaluronic acid fillers: yes Hyaluronic acid is one of the most chosen products due to its excellent efficacy and safety profile compared to other permanent fillers. Hyaluronic acid is a substance produced naturally by the body, present in the skin of the human being. Its function is to retain water, providing hydration and volume. With aging, this substance degrades and the body decreases its ability to replace it. The result is the loss of volume, contour and the appearance of static wrinkles that give the face an aged and tired appearance. The filling of hyaluronic acid is a gel that is applied by micro-injections directly on the skin and, in addition to replacing the lost hyaluronic acid, it allows to reshape forms and contours of the face and lips, and to give volume in the areas modified by the process of aging; it also allows to fill grooves and static wrinkles, that is, the deepest and most visible wrinkles with the face at rest. "Fillers with hyaluronic acid are recommended for the treatment of deep wrinkles, recovering the volume and contour of the face, it is from a personal evaluation of each patient, where the most suitable indication for each patient is determined," says Dr. Melgarejo It is also possible to apply hyaluronic acid fillers, to return volume to the areas where volume was lost, due to the aging process, such as cheeks, chin and jaw, and to reduce dark circles and increase the volume of the lips. The decrease in the effect of hyaluronic acid fillers is gradual and the duration of their results is on average 9 months to 1 year. "It is always important to take into account when evaluating to carry out an aesthetic treatment, that it is fundamental to choose plastic surgeons, specialists trained in the technique of application of the chosen product, and the same should be carried out exclusively in health centers or authorized offices; in the same way, it is possible to demand from the professional his credentials and the quality of the product before being applied, "he concludes.

  3. A 34-year-old man, who raised two lions without authorization, died after being attacked by one of the cats, in Zdechov, a town in the east of the Czech Republic. The father of the victim, saw in a security camera that the body of his son lay inside the animal cage and warned the police. "I can confirm the death of the breeder," said regional police spokeswoman Lenka Javorkova. In addition, an investigation was opened to determine the circumstances of the accident. The victim kept the two animals, the male of nine years and a female of two, in a fence built without permission and without authorization from the veterinary services. After the episode, the Police was forced to kill the two animals. Michal Prasek had raised the male since 2016 and the female since last year. The presence of the two animals caused great concern in Zdechov, a town of about 600 inhabitants. In June, the lioness attacked and injured a cyclist when the owner walked on a leash outside the fence.

  6. It is that photographing invisible beings can sound like science fiction or illusionism. However, Joachim Frank is a renowned German scientist who in 2017 won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry as a pioneer of the technique of electronic cryomicroscopy. And his studies are serious, so much that metaphor through, we could say that his technique works something like the "3D camera with more megapixels that exists, to capture images of biological structures of infinitesimal size". Joachim Frank will arrive in Mendoza to participate as lecturer of the II Symposium on Translational Medicine, organized by the Faculties of Medical Sciences and Exact and Natural Sciences of the UNCuyo. How to photograph something that is not seen For in science, observing things that are not visible to the naked eye, invisible to the eyes of ordinary people, is a long-standing custom. The electron microscope, without going any further, is just a hundred years old. But before Frank and his revolutionary technique, there was one important limitation: electronic microscopes required observation objects to be presented in vacuum. Therefore, it was not possible to study biological molecules in their natural environment. Then, Frank formulated a technique that would take biochemistry to a new era. Using advances from two scientists with whom he would later share the Nobel, Jacques Dubochet and Richard Henderson, Frank agreed to solve this problem by freezing the sample to be analyzed by means of gases such as liquid nitrogen or propane, with care that they will form ice crystals that could distort the image. Thus it was possible to obtain a capture: frozen biomolecules in full movement, with which it is possible to visualize processes that had never before been seen. Then, Frank gave a new twist to the discoveries of its partners (yes, science is an associated and solidary task) and developed a computer tool to enhance the existing observation instruments. It happens that the electron microscopes have a great power of resolution, that allows to observe in detail a cell and its content, even up to the strands of DNA. Overcoming that instance, they could go even further, to the point of seeing the atoms that make up a protein. The problem is that always the images at that level of detail are affected by "noise". This is where Frank rubbed the lamp and designed an image processing method that allows to align and averaged thousands of very blurry 2D images of individual molecules, and transform them into three-dimensional atomic resolution structures, thus achieving that artificial intelligence can even learn to deduce how are the hidden faces of a two-dimensional image and complete them. What do we have opposite, then? Nothing more and nothing less than, practically, a virtual tour of a biomolecule. Thus, a researcher can move as a spy, and in the case of a virus for example, it is possible to understand key aspects of its life cycle, how is the binding to receptors on the surface of cells that become infected, the mechanics of transfer of the cell membrane, how the replication works, assembly and exit of the new viral particles of the host cell, etc. And you know ... knowing the enemy to the detriment multiply the possibilities of preventing or generating vaccines or antiviral drugs efficiently. The electronic cryomicroscopy is the result of an 11-year research work by Joachim Frank and a group of scientists from different parts of the world, who produce knowledge in the best way that can be done: in a collaborative and transdisciplinary way. Given this, the "translationality of science" is nothing more than "up the ante". In the case of medicine, the translational is given by the association of efforts to form networks that allow the rapid translation of findings of basic sciences (biology, biochemistry, physics, mathematics, etc.) into better preventive and curative treatments. The Second International Symposium on Translational Medicine will be held at the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the UNCuyo, on March 7 and 8, calling a large group of national and international speakers, who will offer 30 talks around the axes Oncology , Cardiology, Immunology, Fertility, Biophysics and Nanotechnology, and Imaging. In the opportunity, the doctors Joachim Frank, Roland Mertelsmann and Christoph Borner will be distinguished by the UNCuyo with the title of Doctor Honoris Causa.
  7. Seven people lost their lives in police events in the first month of the year, while the same number were registered in February. However, in this report, three cases stand out where the victims were delinquents, protagonists of assaults and who ended up dead. Such is the case of Javier Eduardo Torres, 22 years old, who after joining, together with an accomplice in a house on Chubut street in Las Heras, were discovered by the owner who chased them to the shots. Torres was shot in the chest and died within a few blocks. It happened on the 22nd of last month and the dead man had a history of theft. Another case was recorded on January 20, when Cristian Bruera was lynched and beaten by neighbors who surprised him by assaulting a home in the B ° Tamarindo, Las Heras. And a couple of days later, another thief, identified as Carlos Sanchez (41) died bleeding after cutting his arm with the glass of a window he had violated in the Parque Norte neighborhood of Las Heras. Other facts The first crime of the year was committed on the 11th in an area of farms in Rivadavia. The victim, at that time, was not identified. While on the 15th, the lifeless body of a person (not identified) was found in an open field in Guaymallén. On the 20th, Liliana Olguín, 49, was killed, due to the act described as femicide, her partner was arrested. Las Heras happened. Six days later, Oscar Sosa, 26, was shot dead inside the La Gloria neighborhood. The chronology continues with the appearance of the body, half-buried in a farm in Tunuyán, by José Riera, 64 years old, whose disappearance had been denounced a week before. And the first month of the year closes with the death of Leonel Salvatierra, 16, shot a week earlier in the neighborhood of Corazón de Jesús, in Maipú. The homicides in February took place on the 5th, when 34-year-old Rodolfo Morales was stabbed in the neck. Interned in the Central hospital, he died a couple of days later. On the 9th of that month, a young man identified as Hugo Fabián Cruz (18) was stabbed in the middle of a fight, which happened in Tunuyán. The other fact of the police chronicle was recorded in 10, when Nicolás Vargas (22) was shot inside a hairdressing salon in Guaymallén and eleven days later, the victim of Marcos Dominguez (30) shot in Las Heras. In the same way, that is shot, they killed Omar Jofre on the 23rd, in an event that took place in Lujan, to close the month, on the 26th, when Jesús Hernandez was shot dead (18). the interior of the Urundel neighborhood.
  8. The Mundo Sano Foundation, the National Institute of Human Viral Diseases (Inevh) and the National University of Río Cuarto (UNRC) studied -between 2003 and 2012- the spatial and temporal dynamics of po[CENSORED]tions of mouse colilargo, carrier of the Andes virus, agent cause of hantavirus pulmonary syndrome (HPS) in humans, with the aim of generating risk maps and provide knowledge that will make it possible to work on the prevention of this problem. In the studies carried out, seasonal differences were observed, with a greater number of rodents in autumn and winter in shrubs, and during summer and autumn in the forest. Also, it was detected that reproductively active rodents are more predisposed to contract the disease than non-active rodents, and males are more prone to infection than females. An association was also demonstrated between the infection in the rodent and its weight: the heavier ones are more prone than the lighter ones. Argentina is a country that has hantavirus cases every year, mainly in spring and summer, in four endemic regions: northwest (Salta and Jujuy); central area (Buenos Aires, Entre Ríos and Santa Fe); northeast (Misiones and Formosa) and Patagonian Andean forests (Chubut, Neuquén and Río Negro); being the mouse colilargo responsible for the cases in Chubut, the most common. "The particular thing about the outbreak in Epuyén is the high number of cases in a short period of time," explained Marcelo Abril, biologist and executive director of Fundación Mundo Sano, who also participated in the study in Cholila. Hantavirus infection is a zoonosis that involves wild rodents that are part of the native fauna of each endemic area. The virus remains in nature in rodents and is transmitted between them when they fight or during certain social behaviors. Transmission to humans occurs by inhalation of the secretions of infected mice; exceptionally by direct contact (bite) of these rodents and on rare occasions, by person-to-person contact. "In our country circulate nine strains of the virus and all, except the Maciel and Pergamino genotypes, can cause hantavirus pulmonary syndrome (HPS), although a difference in mortality percentages between strains is observed," said Marcelo Abril. recommendations From the Mundo Sano Foundation, it is recommended that po[CENSORED]tions that live or visit endemic areas ventilate spaces that remained closed before they were occupied, clean the floors with water and bleach, do not sweep dry (since it generates dust from the ground and reach the airways), keep the patios of dwellings weeded and tidy, do not raise tents in areas that are not clean and immediately assist the doctor in case of symptoms similar to those of a cold.
  9. A 3-year-old girl found the remains of a prehistoric elephant among rocks and snails on a beach in Mar Chiquita. The girl Indira Guzmán Bravo walked with her family on the beaches of Camet Norte, when suddenly she found something different between snails and stones: a molar of one of the species most admired by paleontologists, the South American Mastodon (Notiomastodon platensis) . This species inhabited South America for the last million years and it became extinct only 10,000 years ago along with other large mammals that inhabited the area. The reason why the girl discovered this fossil was due to the erosion in the land that progressively was discovering the paleontological samples on the cliffs. This South American mastodon was the largest terrestrial mammal that existed in the prehistoric Pampean region, weighing 7.5 tons and approximately 2.5 meters high at the level of the haunches. The molars of Notiomastodon have two rows of bulbous cusps that, when worn, take the shape of a clover. Indira with 3 years could deduce that it was something different from everything that was lying on that beach. She and her family decided, after a while, to bring the fossil to the Municipal Museum of Natural Sciences of Mar del Plata "Lorenzo Scaglia" where it was temporarily deposited in her collection. "The fossil is not the one who finds it, but belongs to everyone, and so that it belongs to everyone must be in a museum", says the National Law for the Protection of the Archaeological and Paleontological Heritage 25.743. This story shows how the little Indira of 3 years understood perfectly that it is a piece with patrimonial, natural and cultural value.

  13. "A thousand thanks for everything you did for me," she told the press this afternoon, Morena, when she left the clinic of the Niño de Quilmes with her mother Flavia Zayas. The girl could be seen smiling and was wearing River's shirt signed by the players of the professional squad that days ago was sent as a gift by Captain Leonardo Ponzio with a video message in which they offered their support. "I felt excited," the girl remembered about that moment, after which, she referred to her brother: "Even if I fight, I want it." "I'm very happy because I can go home," added the girl, accompanied by her mother, who also could not hide her joy. "I am grateful to everyone, to those who gave us their encouragement, words of support," said Flavia, who explained that her daughter's teachers gave Morena a tablet to replace the one stolen by her aggressor and that the neighbors They also made different presents. "He behaved well, he did everything," said the mother and remarked, although without giving too many details, that her daughter "knows everything that happened to her." "We are happy with life for this gift that God gave us: to be able to take our daughter home in the best conditions," said Flavia looking at her daughter and added: "She is perfect, she goes without any treatment You only control next week, "he explained. After leaving the clinic, Morena and her family were greeted by the residents of the neighborhood, who went out to hug her and kiss her. In a video broadcasted by social networks you can see neighbors and listen to music and the sirens of a Civil Defense mobile that moved them. The neighbors applauded and one by one they approached to greet and kiss the girl. Bravo, More! Exclaimed some while filming with their cell phones. Morena suffered 11 stab wounds and had to undergo surgery several times, especially to decompress a lung, the most affected area. Ivan Fernando Cáceres (21), lives three blocks from where the attack occurred. He was charged with "attempted homicide". The girl was attacked on Sunday 13 January last, in a house located on 1336 to 1000 Florencio Varela Street, in the southern area of Greater Buenos Aires, while she rested in her room. In these circumstances, a man entered the bedroom for theft of a window and, when the child recognized him as a neighbor in the area, the assailant took a knife and applied eleven stitches in the chest and arms, after which fled the place. The Buenos Aires police arrested the same day the assistant builder Ivan Fernando Cáceres (21), who lives three blocks from where the attack occurred and was charged with "attempt to kill" available to the Functional Instructional Unit (UFI) decentralized 4 by Florencio Varela.
