The BMW M5 has recently been facelifted following updates to the regular 5 Series – and it looks like BMW is preparing a new lightweight Clubsport range-topper for launch. Spotted lapping the Nürburgring at speed, this lightly camouflaged prototype bears the same subtly restyled front end as the standard M5 - incorporating new headlight designs and slightly wider double-kidney - but bears some styling cues that set it apart Aside from the unique angled design of its front grille vanes, the mule has much larger lower air intakes than those of even the current top-rung M5, the Competition. It also hides larger front and rear brake discs behind non-standard performance alloy wheels and sports a subtle rear spoiler and prominent diffuser for enhanced downforce at speed. Rumours circulating online suggest that any new Clubsport variant of the M5 could pack a newly developed twin-turbocharged V8 for a power boost over the 591bhp standard car and the 616bhp M5 Competition. Although this is yet to be confirmed, we can be certain that the Clubsport car will be lighter and more track-focused than both existing versions of the M5 Rumours circulating online suggest that any new Clubsport variant of the M5 could pack a newly developed twin-turbocharged V8 for a power boost over the 591bhp standard car and the 616bhp M5 Competition. Although this is yet to be confirmed, we can be certain that the Clubsport car will be lighter and more track-focused than both existing versions of the M5. Likely additions - based on the CS version of the smaller M3 - include a carbonfibre front splitter and bonnet, sticky Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres, lightweight staggered alloy wheels, Alcantara-trimmed interior elements and bucket-style sports seats. With these features in place, the M3 CS saved 10kg over the standard M3 and offered a much lower centre of gravity. Elsewhere, we expect a firmer suspension set-up for keener cornering response, carbon-ceramic brakes as standard and a bespoke performance exhaust. As has been the case with all previous Clubsport M cars, the M5 CS will likely command a significant premium over the standard M5. Although prices for the facelifted car haven't yet been revealed, we can expect it to start from over £100,000, given the £96,000 price of the current M5 Competition.

The country currently counts 3,988 active COVID-19 cases. Rabat – Morocco’s Ministry of Health today announced 146 new COVID-19 cases, increasing the country’s total case count to 13,434 as of 10 a.m. on July 4. The ministry also confirmed 54 new recoveries from COVID-19 and two new deaths. The total number of recoveries has now reached 9,214, while the coronavirus-related death toll stands at 232. The new figures reduced Morocco’s COVID-19 recovery rate to 68.6%. Meanwhile, the country’s fatality rate stands at 1.7%. Morocco currently counts 3,988 active COVID-19 cases. The number of active cases in the country has steadily increased in the past few weeks after it dipped as low as 595 on June 5. Casablanca-Settat remains the region with the highest number of COVID-19 cases in Morocco, with 26.51% of the country’s case count, followed by Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (19.14%), Marrakech-Safi (15.36%), Rabat-Sale-Kenitra (14.85%), and Fez-Meknes (10.87%). The Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra (4.75%), Draa-Tafilalet (4.36%), Oriental (1.57%), Beni Mellal-Khenifra (1.18%), Souss-Massa (0.68%), Guelmim-Oued Noun (0.62%), and Dakhla-Oued Ed Dahab (0.11%) regions have recorded lower numbers of COVID-19 cases. Between 6 p.m. on July 3 and 10 a.m. on July 4, Moroccan laboratories conducted 7,429 tests for COVID-19, including 7,283 that came back negative. Since February, Moroccan health authorities have performed a total of 739,923 COVID-19 tests, 726,489 yielded negative results. Morocco is currently in the second phase of easing lockdown measures. The first phase, from June 11-24, introduced a geographical division of Moroccan regions into two zones based on their epidemiological situations. Residents of Zone 1 had the right to leave their homes without special authorization. Businesses in certain sectors were also allowed to resume in the first zone. Meanwhile, residents of Zone 2 had to continue to self-isolate in their homes and only go outside for work, essential grocery shopping, or medical emergencies. On June 25, the second phase began and the vast majority of Moroccan prefectures and provinces integrated into Zone 1. The second phase of lifting the lockdown introduced more eased measures, including the resumption of businesses such as restaurants, cafes, and hotels, and domestic travel.

MG Motor's biggest-selling car, the ZS crossover, has been updated for 2020 with an exterior redesign and, it's claimed, a "real uplift in specification and quality". The Kia Stonic rival, on sale now from £15,495, has been given a revised front-end look with an evolved hexagonal grille design, new swept-back full-LED headlights and an aluminium-effect lower-grille treatment. New alloy wheel designs also feature, while the rear-end revisions extend to a revised bumper, more aluminium-style trim and refreshed tail-lights. A new colour - Battersea Blue - has also been added. The claimed quality boost inside comes courtesy of a new dashboard design with more extensive use of soft-touch materials and detail stitching. The ZS also borrows the 10.1in touchscreen from the larger HS SUV, with DAB, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as standard. Exclusive-trim models add sat-nav and a 360deg reversing camera. Floating 'piano key'-style buttons are used for climate control functions, while a front armrest is now a standard fitment. MG doesn't specify any dynamic changes to the ZS. The model's chassis is said to be "developed for UK drivers" by the firm's UK engineering team, with three driving modes to alter the steering and suspension responses. The sole engine choice for the ZS is a 1.5-litre four-cylinder unit mated to a five-speed manual gearbox, promising a 0-62mph time of 10.9sec and 41.4mpg. Updates for the electric ZS EV are expected to be similar but have yet to be announced.

In an age of fuel efficiency, hybridization and full-electric cars entering the lineup every time you refresh your web browser, Dodge decided to take a completely different path. The year 2021 is the year of the supercharger for SRT-badged Dodge products, with three new products coming: the Dodge Challenger SRT Super Stock, the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye and the Dodge Durango Hellcat. Let’s tackle this list in inverse horsepower order, which means we’ll start with the 710-hp, 645-lb-ft of torque Dodge Durango Hellcat. This is the first three-row Hellcat, the Durango. And that means an all-wheel-drive, three-row SUV with a claimed 0-60-mph time of 3.5 seconds, a quarter-mile ET of 11.5 and a top speed of 180 mph. But, frankly, all of that pales in comparison to the fact that, as long as you get the Tow n Go package, this is the first Hellcat that can tow 8,700 pounds. Placing the supercharged 6.2-liter V8 in the Durango required retuning the suspension. Dodge also added Brembo brakes with six-piston calipers clamping on 15.75-inch rotors in front and four piston calipers on 13.8-inch rotors in back. And, for fun as much as anything, in back, you see Dodge installed 4-inch exhaust outlets. Furthermore, the exhaust system has an X-pipe ahead of the mufflers to make a for throaty sounding note. You’ll notice a redesigned, more aggressive-looking front end as well, with nostrils and scoops feeding air to the ever-hungry V8. Dodge also updated the interior across the lineup, including a 10.1-inch center console screen, up from 8.4 inches, wireless smartphone charging and updated Uconnect system. But perhaps the craziest part of the Durango Hellcat is that it’s only available for 2021. There are specific evaporative emissions regulations coming for model year 2022 that only affect Durango Hellcat. Dodge simply cannot build it after 2021. Which means, no matter what, fewer than 2,000 Durango Hellcats will be built. Future collector’s item? You bet. Up next is the Dodge Charger Hellcat Redeye. Yup. 797 hp and 707 lb-ft of torque for your full-size family sedan. Dodge claims a 10.6-second run down the drag strip, with 129 mph reading on the speedometer when you do it. If you have more than a quarter-mile—like, you know, a lot more—the Charger will hit 203 mph. Dodge claims the first 60 mph goes by in around 3.5 seconds. It’s worth pointing out: This is rear-wheel drive, not all-wheel like the Durango. The Charger Hellcat Redeye gets the Widebody and runs 305 section width tires, which is a foot wide. Those tires will wrap around 20-inch-diameter, 11-inch-wide wheels, which I’m sure you’ll agree look spiffy. If, for whatever reason, you cannot get the Redeye, the standard Charger Hellcat gets a horsepower bump to 717 ponies—a 10-hp increase that I’m sure you’ll totally notice from the last year. That’s a 1.4% increase in power! Adding two doors to the Redeye will only make it easier to impress more friends every time you offer a ride. Sounds worth it to me. And yes, that means the Challenger SRT Super Stock is the most powerful model coming in 2021 with 807 hp coming from its version of the supercharged 6.2-liter V8 and eight-speed transmission powertrain. The extra power when compared to the Redeye comes from a slightly higher 6,400-rpm shift speed. Think of the Super Stock as a more street-friendly version of the Demon. That 807 hp is produced on pump gas. And the suspension allows for daily-driving ease. That said, you’ll still want to take it to the drag strip. Tires on the Super Stock are 315/40R-18 NT05R drag radials on all four-corners. The shock absorbers are adjustable Bilsteins. That allows 0-60 mph to go by in 3.25 seconds and take just 10.5 seconds to eclipse a quarter-mile, edging out the slightly more aerodynamic Charger Hellcat Redeye. There is not a trans-lock setting on this car, but there is a line-lock. That means you can engage just the front brakes and roast the rear tires to warm them up for a run. You also get launch control to help you maximize torque to the pavement once the Christmas tree goes green. The SRT Super Stock is actually a 2020 model year Dodge that will be available later this summer. And deliveries are expected this fall. Dodge did not release prices or fuel economy for any of these cars, but we expect the Durango Hellcat price tag to start with a seven, and both the Charger Hellcat Redeye and Challenger SRT Super Stock to start with an eight. As for fuel economy, well, it won’t be good. But I cannot imagine prospective buyers really care. That’s 2,314 horses spread across just three new products. 2021 is going to be fun.

The government has not yet decided when it will repatriate citizens stranded in the US, where COVID-19 cases are surging. Rabat – After bringing home thousands of citizens from several European, African, Gulf, and Asian countries, Morocco will now start repatriation operations for Moroccans stranded in Canada. A diplomatic source familiar with the matter told Morocco World News that a flight will first bring home Moroccans stranded in Canada. The flight, which was initially scheduled to depart from Canada on July 2, is now set to depart on Saturday, June 4. The source added that there have been rumors there would also be a Morocco-bound flight from New York, but clarified that the confirmed flight will only repatriate Moroccans stranded in Canada. They added that there has been no decision so far on the timing of the repatriation of Moroccans stranded in the United States. There have been over 1,200 Moroccans stranded in the US since Morocco closed its borders in mid-March in an attempt to stem the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. After over three months of uncertainty surrounding their return date to Morocco and pleas to the government to bring them back home, the government launched the first stage of the repatriation process in mid-May with the repatriation of Moroccans stranded in the Spanish enclaves of Ceuta and Melilla, as well as in Algeria. The second phase of the process started with the repatriation of Moroccans stranded in other parts of the world. After bearing the costs of the repatriation and isolation accommodation of over 10,000 Moroccans, our source said that the Moroccan government is now mulling whether to “offer a paid package” for the remaining Moroccans, which would include “their flight and nine-day stay in a hotel” during the quarantine period. According to our source, no decision in this regard has been made so far, adding that in the event the government opted for the paid package, it would not apply to people in a precarious economic situation. Like the other citizens who benefited from repatriation operations, the returnees will spend a quarantine period at hotel establishments after undergoing screening tests to identify possible COVID-19 carriers. The operation follows a score of similar repatriation campaigns Morocco has been conducting to bring stranded tourists back home after more than three months of travel suspension, since mid-March. The government suspended international air, land, and maritime travel in support of the national campaign to combat COVID-19. From June 21 to June 27, Morocco repatriated more than 4,000 citizens from 17 countries. This includes the return of 150 stranded citizens today from France. Starting June 28, the country launched a second repatriation process that is set to continue until July 4. Before starting to repatriate Moroccans, the government collaborated with several foreign countries to assist them in efforts to repatriate their nationals stranded in Morocco. Morocco’s government has been assisting France, the Netherlands, Spain, the US, and several other countries to facilitate repatriation of their citizens.

Morocco is the first country to sign an agreement of this kind with Germany, just after the presentation of the German National Hydrogen Strategy. Rabat – Morocco’s ambassador to Germany, Zohour Alaoui, has signed an agreement with the German Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development, Gerd Muller, on the development of the green hydrogen production sector. Under the hydrogen agreement signed on Wednesday in Berlin, the Moroccan Ministry of Energy, Mines, and Environment will partner with the German Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development to set up research and investment projects in the use of hydrogen, which constitutes a source of ecologically sound energy. Both ministries will join efforts to establish two projects as part of the two countries’ economic cooperation. The first project, named “Power-to-X”, will focus on the production of green hydrogen, proposed by the Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy (MASEN). The second project concerns the establishment of a research platform on “Power-to-X,” knowledge transfer, and the strengthening of related skills. This comes in partnership with the Research Institute for Solar Energy and New Energies (IRESEN). Evoking Morocco’s advanced expertise in the field of renewable energies, Zohour welcomed the fact that Morocco is the first country to sign an agreement of this nature with Germany, just after the presentation of its National Hydrogen Strategy. The strategy aims to improve the framework conditions for the production and use of hydrogen, to set up the necessary supply structures, and to advance scientific research and innovation. In a statement to state-owned Maghreb Arab Press (MAP), the Moroccan ambassador said that the agreement is of the utmost importance to Morocco and demonstrates “the excellent relations uniting the two countries on the economic, political, and cultural levels.” Prioritizing a future fueled by green energy : “The agreement reflects the two countries’ firm desire to move forward in the development of renewable energies and their commitment to sustainable economic development while placing environmental protection as a priority,” she noted. “Given this dynamic, the development of the green hydrogen sector is promising.” The hydrogen alliance will also enable Morocco to build Africa’s first plant for the production of the “green gas,” with the objective of mitigating the emission of 100,000 tons of carbon dioxide. Meanwhile, Muller stated that Morocco’s economic development dynamic will effectively serve the purpose of the agreement, highlighting the Green Morocco Plan, which placed the country at the African forefront of renewable energy. The German development minister told German media that “the conditions for hydrogen production in Africa are ideal,” adding that the National Hydrogen Strategy is a “giant step towards climate-neutral fuels and thus a global energy transition.” Earlier today, Muller presented the National Hydrogen Strategy with a proposed investment of €7 billion. A hydrogen alliance with Morocco is also part of the strategy. Approximately €2 billion would be allocated for cooperation with international partners, including Morocco. Morocco and Germany enjoy excellent bilateral cooperation in the field of renewable energies, dating back to 2012 when the two countries signed the Moroccan-German Energy Partnership (PAREMA).
