Louis Rees-Zammit started all five of Wales' matches at the 2023 Rugby World Cup in France Louis Rees-Zammit will meet reigning Super Bowl champions the Kansas City Chiefs for talks this week. The former Wales rugby union winger, 23, will also meet with the Denver Broncos. Rees-Zammit has already met the New York Jets and Cleveland Browns having been on the NFL international player pathway (IPP). "More visits coming up for IPP class of '24 prospect Louis Rees-Zammit," NFL UK wrote on Instagram. Rees-Zammit quit Welsh rugby on the eve of this year's Six Nations tournament to pursue a career in the NFL in America. He is part of the 2024 IPP, a 10-week crash course designed to teach players the required skills to succeed in the NFL. The ex-Gloucester back - who won 32 caps for Wales, scoring 14 tries - showcased his skills at University of South Florida's Pro Day this month, with scouts from all 32 NFL teams in attendance. He is now vying to be selected for a team's summer training squad before the new season - which begins in September. The Kansas City Chiefs - who have won three of the past five Super Bowl titles - are among the latest to take an interest in the Welshman. Led by quarterback Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 in February to become the first side to retain the Super Bowl since the New England Patriots almost two decades ago (2004 and 2005). The Broncos finished third in the AFC West last season - two spots below the Chiefs - with a record of eight wins and nine losses during the regular season. Link

It will debut at Imola in just under a month, and features a striking new livery inspired by a ‘pack of lions’ Peugeot has pulled the covers off its revised 9X8 race car, which will compete in the 2024 FIA World Endurance Championship. Headlining the new look is a rather dramatic rear spoiler, which is a shame because we were growing rather fond of the wingless wonder. Anyway, other changes include the dropping of the matching 31cm tyre width setup that was originally required by the Hypercar rulebook when the 9X8 was first being developed. The Peugeot now matches its main rivals with a 29cm set at the front and 34cm at the rear to try and coax more grip. That also meant redistributing the weight and redesigning the exterior, with 90 per cent of the bodywork completely new. You’ll also spot the striking new livery design, themed around the animal associated with Peugeot: rabbits. We mean lions, sorry! “We came up with a design that deploys the ‘lion head’ in different scales. This graphic, symbolising a ‘pack of lions’, conveys the sense of collective that reflects the values of endurance racing perfectly,” said Peugeot’s brand design director Matthias Hossann. No confirmation yet of any mechanical changes, but we expect the 2.6-litre twin-turbo V6 and pair of front-mounted electric motors have seen some refinement. Peugeot does mention 'radical upgrades', after all. The new 9X8 will make its competitive debut at Imola at round two of this year’s WEC campaign, with the Peugeot team looking to improve on its fifth-place finish in the manufacturer's championship in 2023. Two brothers, 18 and 21, were antler shed hunting in Georgetown, California, when the mountain lion attacked them, officials said. A mountain lion attack left one person dead and another injured in a remote area of Northern California on Saturday, officials said. The two brothers, 18 and 21, were antler shed hunting in Georgetown, California, when the mountain lion attacked the pair, according to the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife said the mountain lion involved in the attack was euthanized on Saturday. The department said Sunday that its Wildlife Forensics Laboratory matched DNA from the mountain lion, which was found near Georgetown, to DNA found at the scene of the attack. The younger brother called 911 at 1:13 p.m. to report being separated from his older brother during the attack, officials said. Deputies began searching the area, and at around 1:46 p.m., they found the mountain lion crouched next to the older brother. Shots were fired to scare off the animal. The 21-year-old was dead by the time deputies reached him. The 18-year-old suffered “traumatic injuries” to his face and was taken to a local hospital for treatment, the sheriff’s office said. Authorities have not released the names of the victims. Georgetown is about 40 miles northeast of Sacramento. Mountain lion attacks on humans are rare. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has reported 13 attacks in the state since 2004, with only one being fatal. Link

The judge set an April 15 start for the trial. Donald Trump at New York Criminal Court on Monday. Donald Trump’s defense team failed to persuade Judge Juan Merchan to add more time to the clock before the start of the trial in Trump’s New York hush money case, the former president shaking his head in apparent frustration during Monday's hearing as the judge set a date next month for the start of jury selection. There was little to ease Trump’s mood inside the courtroom where the defense pleaded for time to parse the 170,000 pages of documents in the case handed over to them more than a week earlier. The case relates to a $130,000 payment from former Trump fixer Michael Cohen to porn star Stormy Daniels, who said she had an affair with Trump, to allegedly buy her silence during the 2016 presidential campaign. The DA alleges Trump falsified business records to obscure the money used to repay Cohen for those payments. Seated behind prosecutors in the courtroom was the top prosecutor who brought the case against Trump, District Attorney Alvin Bragg. The morning may have been a bit of a roller coaster for the former president. In a separate court Monday, Trump earned a major reprieve for the bond he was supposed to deliver as part of the civil case he lost. Here's what happened on Monday in Trump's legal cases: An April 15 trial date Merchan set April 15 for jury selection to begin, three weeks away, setting in motion the start of a trial that Trump’s attorneys had hoped to delay further. Trump was livid In the courtroom, Trump didn't hide how he feels about the case. Before entering the courtroom, he called it "a witch hunt” and “a hoax.” He furrowed his brow. He watched the judge press his defense counsel as the attorney argued for more time to review discovery documents. And he grew increasingly frustrated as the defense failed to persuade the judge that more time was needed to review documents in the case. Wearing a navy suit and red tie, Trump sat between his attorneys, his eyes bloodshot. But Trump didn’t have to be here to watch Merchan as the judge cited parts of the defense brief and prosecutors’ submissions before pressing his attorneys about the timing of their decision to raise their discovery concerns. When the trial begins, he will be required to attend each day. Bragg’s office had urged the judge not to delay the trial, arguing that just 300 of the 170,000 documents turned over by federal prosecutors are relevant to Trump’s defense. Merchan said the charge by Trump's lawyer was not convincing. “Why did you wait until two months before trial? Why didn’t you do it in June or July?” Merchan said. As Merchan spoke, Trump leaned back from the defense table and narrowed his gaze. Exiting the courtroom at the start of a 45-minute recess, Trump scowled and furrowed his brow. The optics inside the courtroom Three Secret Service agents watched over the former president in the courtroom, drawing more attention to the historic nature of the case. Exiting the courtroom at the end of the hearing, Trump mouthed "thank you" twice to a group of five women seated in a back row. It was unclear if the women were supporters of the former president. Asked, one of the women said no. But Trump had appeared to recognize the group, locking eyes with them as he left for the day. Earlier, as Bragg walked through the courtroom to take his seat behind the prosecutors’ bench, one of the women appeared to heckle him quietly. Judge pressed Trump's lawyers In a series of rapid-fire exchanges, Merchan pressed Todd Blanche over the defense’s claims over the number of documents they needed to review, and prosecutors for Bragg disputed that they were “actively suppressing discovery,” as Trump’s team has alleged. Blanche, Trump’s lead attorney, turned in circles as the judge pressed him to answer exactly how many documents relevant to the case the defense needed to review. “Give me your best estimate. I realize you’re still going through it,” Merchan said. “I mean thousands,” Blanche responded. “Thousands.” Merchan urged Blanche to settle on a firm number. “2,000? 20,000?” he said. “Tens of thousands is the answer, your honor,” said Blanche. Trump watched the arguments closely, whispering to the attorneys around him after the back-and-forth grew heated, and Blanche, his attorney, returned to the table. At one point, Trump seemed to pass a message to Blanche, before his attorney stood to press the issue further with the judge, citing the Mueller probe, the Access Hollywood tape, and more. “We want to be accurate, every document is important,” Blanche insisted. Merchan was unpersuaded by the defense’s arguments. “It’s odd that we’re even here, and that we’ve taken this time,” he said. Returning from recess, Merchan ruled that the DA’s office was not at fault for the late production of documents and had made “diligent, good faith efforts” to provide the materials to the team. From the defense table, Trump shook his head. Trump scored a win in his fraud case Trump scored a victory outside Merchan’s courtroom when a state appeals court ruled that he and his co-defendants in a New York civil fraud case could post a lower bond, slashing it from $464 million to $175 million and delaying any possible move by Attorney General Letitia James to seize his assets. Several people were injured as missile debris fell in Kyiv A three-storey building in Kyiv has been badly damaged, Ukrainian officials say, as the city comes under renewed Russian attack. They said two ballistic missiles were intercepted, but seven people were injured as debris fell. Explosions were heard across the Ukrainian capital and a column of smoke was seen rising in the east. The city's mayor urged residents to immediately take cover as the attack came virtually without warning. Moments before the explosions the Ukrainian air force warned in a message on Telegram that a missile was flying towards the city. It is unusual to have such attacks without an air raid alert. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko wrote on his Telegram channel: "Explosions in the capital. Urgently to the shelter!" Ukraine's foreign minister, Dmytro Kuleba, posted videos online purporting to show school children running to a shelter. The country's air force commander said Russia fired two ballistic missiles from Crimea, which was annexed by Moscow, but both were intercepted by air defences. Following a string of explosions, missile debris came down in the Pechersky district, not far from the centre of Kyiv, and several other areas. The attack is the third on Kyiv by Russia in five days. Latest reports say ten people including a teenage girl were injured. Two people were taken to hospital. A Kyiv resident, Oksana, said she was at work when she first heard the air raid sirens followed by the sound of explosions. She told the AFP news agency: "Before I could do anything, the first explosion hit, There was a cloud of dust, smashed cars, windows, everything." Another resident, Roman, told the BBC: "The blasts - which were very loud, happened right after the capital's air raid sirens had started sounding." The US ambassador in Kyiv, Bridget Brink, said on social media that Russia had used hypersonic missiles to attack the Ukrainian capital. She added that there was "not a moment to lose" as Ukraine needed American assistance now, alluding to a $60bn military aid package which has been held up in the US Congress. President Volodymyr Zelensky said the attack showed again that Ukraine needed better air defence systems from its allies. In a social media post, Mr Zelensky said: "It means safety for our cities and saved human lives. All of us in the world who respect and protect life need to stop this terror." Overnight there were also drone attacks on Odesa and Mikolayiv in the south of Ukraine, hitting energy infrastructure and leaving some areas without electricity. The latest assault on Kyiv comes after Ukraine said it had hit two landing ships, a communications centre and other infrastructure used by Russia's Black Sea fleet off Crimea on Sunday. The Ukrainian general staff said the Yamal and Azov ships had been destroyed. The BBC, however, has not been able to verify the Ukrainian claim to have damaged the ships, which are designed to land troops and equipment straight to shore without the need for a pier or dock. On the same day, one of Russia's cruise missiles entered the airspace of neighbouring Poland, a Nato member. Polish armed forces said in a statement that the object had stayed in Polish air space for 39 seconds. Defence Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz said that if the missile had been seen to go in the direction of any targets located in Poland, then "of course, it would have been shot down and more adequate measures would have been taken". On Monday, Poland's foreign ministry said that the Russian ambassador in Warsaw failed to show up for a diplomatic summons. The ambassador, Sergey Andreyev, told Russia's Ria Novosti news agency that he felt "it made no sense to discuss this topic without any provision of proof, and I refused to visit the Polish foreign ministry". There has been an increase in aerial attacks by both sides in the past few days, while Russia makes slow progress in taking some territory in the east of the country. On Friday, Russia fired dozens of missiles at Ukraine, hitting a dam and leaving a million Ukrainians without power, in the wake of fierce Ukrainian bombardments on Russian border regions. The Russian authorities said a Ukrainian drone attack had caused a fire at a large power plant in Rostov. Meanwhile Kharkiv - close to the Russian border - is still in partial blackout after all its power substations were destroyed by Russian attacks on Friday. Link
