  1. Intel announced Tuesday at the Baidu Create AI developer conference that it's working with Baidu on the development of Intel's Nervana Neural Network Processor for Training, called NNP-T. Those keeping track will notice Intel made a slight name change to the product since it was announced as the NNP-L 1000 in 2018, codenamed Spring Crest. The collaboration involves both hardware and software. On the software side, Naveen Rao, CVP of Intel's AI Products Group, noted that Baidu’s deep learning framework, PaddlePaddle, was the first to integrate Cascade Lake’s DL Boost, Intel’s new instructions to double or triple the performance of FP16 or INT8 AVX-512 vector code. Intel hopes close collaboration with Baidu on its deep learning training accelerator will ensure the design remains in lock-step with customer demands. At its launch later this year, this will mark the first dedicated accelerator that was built from the ground up for the training of neural networks, at least from one of the big vendors. NNP-T is optimized for high-bandwidth memory, high utilization and distributed workloads. Built on 16nm, it is the successor with 3-4 times the performance claimed than the Lake Crest development vehicle that the company touted was on par with Nvidia's Volta V100. Intel also noted that Baidu uses Intel's Optane DC Persistent Memory and leverages Intel’s Software Guard Extensions (SGX) for a memory-safe Function-as-a-Service (Faas) computing framework, MesaTEE, for safety-critical applications. Intel recently also talked about its NNP-I M.2 accelerator for deep learning inference with Sunny Cove cores. This article was created by „tomshardware”.
  2. An Iranian official has said a British oil tanker should be seized, if a detained Iranian ship is not released. British Royal Marines helped officials in Gibraltar to seize the super-tanker Grace 1 on Thursday, after it was suspected of carrying oil from Iran to Syria, in breach of EU sanctions. Iran later summoned the British ambassador in Tehran to complain about what it said was a "form of piracy". Mohsen Rezaei said Iran would respond to bullies "without hesitation". Mr Rezaei - a member of a council that advises the Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei - said, in a tweet: "If Britain does not release the Iranian oil tanker, it is the authorities' duty to seize a British oil tanker." The BBC has been told a team of about 30 marines, from 42 Commando, were flown from the UK to Gibraltar to help detain Grace 1 and its cargo. Gibraltar said there was reason to believe the ship was carrying Iranian crude oil to the Baniyas Refinery in the Syrian Mediterranean port town of Tartous. But Iran's Foreign Ministry condemned the move as illegal and accused the UK of acting at the behest of the United States. The UK Foreign Office dismissed claims of piracy as "nonsense". 4. Getting ahead of the competition, ASRock today announced it’s official X570 series motherboard launch for AMD’s new generation of AMD processors that will be out in a few days. What this means for us is that the new boards are nothing more than a paper launch, although they will likely arrive by the promised date of AMD's Ryzen 3000 processors, on July 7th. The firm’s press release is light on detail, although it does say ASRock will have ten board in total in this initial wave. The release leans heavily upon the PCIe 4.0 benefits provided by AMD’s 3000-series Ryzen processors. The release also states that the boards will be equipped with Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) modules, 60A power chokes, Nichicon black 12K capacitors and steel-reinforced slots. Since no models were mentioned, it's possiblethat these features will apply to every X570 model ASRock produces. While there's a lot left to mystery here, we won't have long to wait to find out more. We expect the real launch of these boards, along with availability, on July 7th in three days. Article created by „tomshadware”.
  5. China has accused protesters who vandalised Hong Kong's parliament on Monday of "serious illegal actions" that "trample on the rule of law". A group of activists occupied the Legislative Council (LegCo) building for several hours after breaking away from a peaceful protest. Hundreds of police used tear gas to disperse demonstrators. The Chinese government urged the city to investigate the "criminal responsibility of violent offenders". Hong Kong, a former British colony, is part of China but run under a "one country, two systems" arrangement that guarantees it a level of autonomy. Its citizens enjoy rights not seen on the mainland. Monday's disorder followed weeks of mass protests over a controversial extradition bill, which critics have said could be used to send political dissidents from Hong Kong to the mainland. The Chinese government said the ransacking of parliament was a blatant challenge to the "one country, two systems" formula. So far, Beijing has reacted to the protests from a distance, but Monday's violence could be a catalyst for Beijing to push for tighter control over Hong Kong, says BBC World Service Asia-Pacific editor Celia Hatton. Hong Kong's leader Carrie Lam earlier made similar remarks, condemning the "extreme use of violence" by the protesters who had broken into LegCo. If you wanna read more please visit : click !

  7. The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has released the software development kit (SDK) for its open-source Shakti processor. Shakti is based on the open-source RISC-V instruction set architecture and was funded by the Indian Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. The institute promised that a development board will also be released soon. The RISE group at IIT Madras started working on the Shakti project in 2016 with a plan to release a family of six classes of processors, each serving a different market. The group promised that the reference processors will be competitive with commercial offerings in terms of area, performance and power consumption. Now India, like China and the European Union, are showing interest in designing their own processors, rather than relying on ones designed by U.S. manufacturers. With the release of the Shakti SDK, developers can begin to develop applications for the Shakti processors, even before they're commercialized. If you wanna read more please visit : click !
  8. A stray Russian-made missile apparently launched by Syria hit the self-declared Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus overnight, officials say. Foreign Minister Kudret Ozersay said the air defence missile was thought to have been launched during suspected Israeli air strikes on Syria. The projectile struck a mountainside north of Nicosia, 225km (140 miles) from the Syrian coast, sparking a fire. At least four civilians were reportedly killed in the air strikes on Syria. The Syrian military said it had "confronted" Israeli warplanes that fired missiles at military positions near the capital Damascus and the central city of Homs. No casualties were reported after the stray missile hit the Tashkent region of northern Cyprus, about 20km (12 miles) from the city of Nicosia, at about 01:00 on Monday (22:00 GMT on Sunday). But residents told Cypriot media they had seen a light in the sky and then heard three loud explosions. "The first assessment is that a Russian-made missile... which was part of the air defence system that took place last night in the face of an air strike against Syria, completed its range and fell into our country after it missed," Mr Ozersay wrote in a post on Facebook. The explosions were likely to have happened before impact because there was no crater, he added. "The pieces that fell to several different points prove that the missile exploded in the air before it crashed." If you wanna read more please visit : click !

  10. Silicon Lottery, the third party CPU binning company, has recently updated its website to reflect upcoming availability for the Ryzen 3000 processors that launch on July 7th. Silicon Lottery estimates it will have binned versions of the 3800X and 3900X by July 13th; there is no estimation for the 3950X which releases in September, and the lower end 3700X, 3600X, and 3600 are nowhere to be seen. So why has the company decided to provide bins for the 3800X and 3900X? Although the chips are already soldered, meaning delidding is not only unnecessary but actually dangerous, Silicon Lottery can still bin these CPUs and sell them at a premium. The company likely believes Ryzen 3000 will at least sell enough to make a profit. Or perhaps, if AMD has left a good deal of overclocking potential on the table with the 3800X and 3900X, and if Silicon Lottery knew that already, then it's a no-brainer to bin the 3800X and 3900X just like they do with Intel CPUs. The higher the clock speed, the bigger the margins, after all. If you wanna read more please visit : click !

  12. Ecuador has agreed to allow US military planes to operate from an airport on the Galapagos Islands, reports say. US aircraft will be able to use San Cristobal airport, Ecuador's defence minister Oswaldo Jarrin has been quoted as saying. They will "fight drug trafficking" under a deal with Ecuador's government, Mr Jarrin said. The reported deal has prompted concerns over the potential impact on the environment and Ecuador's sovereignty. The aircraft involved include a Boeing 777 and a Lockheed P-3 Orion, Latin American TV network Telesur reports. The Galapagos Islands, 563 miles (906km) west of continental Ecuador, are a Unesco World Heritage site renowned worldwide for their unique array of plants and wildlife. Tourists across the globe travel there to see its biodiversity, which inspired Charles Darwin's theory of evolution. Legislators in Ecuador's parliament have called on Mr Jarrin and environment minister Marcelo Mata to explain the scope of co-operation with the US in the islands. They have asked them to elaborate on proposals to extend the runway at San Cristobal airport, daily El Universo reports. Lawmaker Marcela Cevallos said the plan would be alarming for conservationists, it reported. If you wanna read more please visit : click ! Article created by „bbc”.

  14. Recently, data miners poking around in the BIOS files of upcoming Gigabyte X570 motherboards have come across references to an "X590" chipset, which does not officially exist yet. In these BIOSes, many options are labeled as for "X570/590 chipsets." The developer for the Ryzen DRAM Calculator also hinted at an X590 chipset on Twitter, saying "AMD X590 and more possibilities coming soon" with an attached picture of a mostly blacked-out motherboard save for the corners; the Tweet has since been deleted. If X590 exists, it could deliver more features oriented to complement AMD's highest-end Ryzen 9 3950X, which is essentially a low-end Threadripper replacement. X590 could have more PCIe lanes or higher quality motherboards than what already exists for X570 (say with a more aggressive clock speed by default), or just generally be more workstation focused. With 16 cores on the mainstream and the Zen 2 Threadripper CPUs not on the market yet, it might make sense for AMD to use the 3950X as a replacement for the 2950X and as a stopgap because the 3950X has been shown to do well against the 18-core Core i9 9980XE. It's also entirely possible that X590 is actually a misnomer made by Gigabyte. If Gigabyte wasn't sure what the chipset would be called (remember the canceled Z490 chipset for AM4?), then it's entirely possible Gigabyte internally referred to this upcoming chipset as "X570/590." The X590 listing is never referred to alone, always with X570 right beside it, and technically it's not stated in the BIOS files at all, it has only been inferred with a listing of "590." And like Z490, it is possible that X590 was planned at one point, but also canceled. Ultimately, however, much of the discussion on X590 is speculative because no official information about this supposed chipset exists, and even unofficial information is limited to some reference in some BIOS files and a single tweet. Considering how premium X570 already is, one has to wonder how X590 could possibly differentiate itself as a higher-end chipset. This article was created by „tomshardware”.

  16. A recent entry into the enthusiast DRAM market, Silicon Power did solid work to produce its P/N SP016GXLZU320BDB DDR4-3200 kit. With the same type of lifetime limited warranty, similar pricing, and a performance edge so miniscule as to be inconsequential compared to its closest competition, buyers will probably pick their brand based on aesthetics. On that front, you should of course go with what you like, but the XPower Turbine makes a strong case for itself in the looks department, too. Silicon Power put its toe in the door of the enthusiast DRAM market just a few months ago, so it will probably forgive us for thinking of it as a storage device firm. So new is its XPower Turbine RGB DDR4 that the firm didn’t even have boxes printed for its 2x 8GB kit when it sent our samples. The package inside still had space for two DIMMs however, and an updated photo from one of its sellers shows that the lack of dual-channel-kit packaging has since been resolved. 18. AMD’s CPU team looks to be firing on all cylinders, having just announced third-gen Ryzen processors that purportedly beat Intel’s line-up in performance and pricing comparisons. Meanwhile, the Radeon Technologies Group desperately needs a win of its own after years of playing catch-up. Radeon RX 5700 XT and Radeon RX 5700, both based on the much-anticipated Navi GPU, won’t be the cards to beat Nvidia’s highest-end GeForce RTX models. However, they may be able to knock off GeForce RTX 2070 and 2060, provided the company can price them properly and ship in sufficient quantity. If you wanna read more please visit : click ! 19. What do you get if you cross a Lamborghini Huracan with a mid-2000s Volvo V70 Cross Country? Meet the Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato concept, the answer to a question no one thought to ask. „What?” Based on the 5.2-litre V10-powered Huracan, the Sterrato adds 47mm of extra ride-height, a wheel track widened by 30mm, and larger wheel arches for gripper, heavy-duty tyres. The 'crossover' gets modified four-wheel-drive, rear-wheel-steer tech and torque-vectoring. You’ll also find larger Volvo XC70 style ‘shoulders’ to make it harder to damage. Under the surface you’ll find aluminum reinforced side-skirts, and composite bodywork, too. Lamborghini has even added a roof-mounted LED light bar and LED bumper lights for those darker, night stages. A rear skid plate also acts a diffuser, obviously. Step inside and you’ll find a titanium roll cage, aluminum floor panels and carbonfibre seats. It’s basically the ultimate mini-crossover SUV. Think of it like a modern version of the Porsche Dakar-suited 959. „And why?” We’re still not sure, though it could have been to demonstrate just how much the engineers learnt when developing the Urus SUV. Alternatively, Lamborghini may have made the Steratto because Lamborghini just does this sort of thing every so often. ‘[It] is a super sports car with off-road capabilities, the Sterrato demonstrates the Huracán’s versatility and opens the door to yet another benchmark of driving emotion and performance,’ said Maurizio Reggiani, Lamborghini’s chief technical officer. ‘Lamborghini’s R&D and design teams are constantly exploring new opportunities and delivering the unexpected as a core characteristic of our DNA, challenging possibilities while inspired by Lamborghini brand heritage.’ It’s important to remember this isn’t the first time Lamborghini has pulled this stunt. In the 70s, the Italian brand created the Jarama and Urraco off-roaders. Article created by „carmagazine”.
  20. Clothes grown from slime mould and tupperware handbags were among the environmentally-friendly designs and ideas presented by fashion graduates at a London arts school on Friday. The Royal College of Art is holding its annual fashion show, in which students in womenswear, menswear, knitwear, footwear, accessories and millinery unveil their creations. This year, the “All At Once” show looks at the fashion industry’s impact on the environment at a time when many designer houses are seeking to improve their green credentials to appeal to increasingly environmentally conscious consumers. “Fashion and sustainability have to now be one. You have to be thinking in different ways,” student Andrew Bell told Reuters at a preview. “Fashion has been doing the same thing for so long, we’ve created the same black top and the same black jeans and we’re constantly calling them new...there’a actually nothing new about these items.” Bell uses ultrasonic welding to make clothes that fold completely flat, like coats with non-fray linings. His garments are “mono-material”, meaning they can be recycled more easily. That is something Margot Vaaderpass is also looking at when making tops, coats, trousers and skirts using pineapple leather, biodegradable buttons and knitted tailoring. “That’s one of things that I have taken up as a challenge - how can we create a suit that’s knitted,” Vaaderpass said. “The advantage of that is that we can shape the garment, that means that we can produce less waste.” Piero D’Angelo hopes fashionistas can one day grow their own garments with slime mould. The living organism is applied on pre-designed patterns, and can grow up to one centimeter (0.39 inch) per hour. “We designed a 3D printed prototype ... Once we apply the slime mould it will just grow, spread all over, connecting each of those holes,” he said. “I am fascinated by the idea of growing garments and working with different materials, like living materials but also pushing further the idea of fashion.” Clara Chu has turned her attention to kitchenware as accessories. One of her handbags is made from ice cube trays, while another has a water-bottle lock as a clasp. “Each handbag consists of recognizable everyday mundane objects that we find in the house, in the kitchen,” Chu said. “People don’t necessarily associate these kind of items with fashion.” Article created by „reuters”.
  21. Tory leadership candidate Michael Gove has said he "deeply regrets" taking cocaine more than 20 years ago. He told the Daily Mail that he had taken the drug at several "social events" while working as a journalist. The environment secretary said he believed the "mistake" should not be held against him in his bid to become prime minister. Members of the party are due to vote for a new party leader after Theresa May stepped down from the role. Mr Gove, who served as justice secretary from 2015-16, is one of 11 Tory MPs who have said they intend to stand in the contest to replace her, with the winner expected to be announced in late July. International Development Secretary Rory Stewart, who is one of those standing against him, has already apologised for smoking opium - a class A drug in the UK - at a wedding in Iran 15 years ago. Boris Johnson - who is the favourite to succeed Mrs May as Conservative leader - was asked about claims he had taken cocaine at university by Marie Claire magazine in 2008. He replied: "That was when I was 19." In an appearance on Have I Got News For You in 2005, he admitted being given the drug but suggested he had not actually taken it, saying: "I think I was once given cocaine but I sneezed and so it did not go up my nose. In fact, I may have been doing icing sugar." And Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt - another candidate - told the Times he had drunk a cannabis lassi while backpacking through India.
