The Web3 gaming sector is on the cusp of going mainstream with notable game publishers now shifting their focus towards emerging fresher technologies. In order to attract web3 game developers to put their best foot forward, three parties have formed an alliance. Venture firms Immutable and King River Capital along have tied up with blockchain firm, the Polygon Labs to set up a fund of $100 million (roughly Rs. 83 crores) under the name – the Inevitable Games Fund (IGF). The future of Web3 gaming market has been projected to be bright, according to research conducted around the subject. The blockchain gaming market is expected to be churning up to $614 billion (roughly Rs. 51,07,086 crore) in the next seven years, a recent study by Fortune Business Insights had said. With the IGF, all three parties are testifying to their commitment to try and grow the potentially promising Web3 gaming sector. A bunch of other medium and large sized investors are also joining the initiative. These include Alpha Wave Ventures, the Chimera Capital by the Abu Dhabi Royal Group, as well as family offices like Mike Arrington, Co-Founder of CrunchFund, and Arrington Capital; Steve Kokinos In fact, a bunch of Web3 gaming firms have already bagged investments from the IGF. Just under four months after the initial Ayaneo AM01 Mini PC unveiling and subsequent specs and pricing reveal, Ayaneo posted to their blog with up-to-date info on the AM01, including the reveal of a Zen 3-based Ryzen 7 5800U version. The two cheaper versions use a Ryzen 3 3200U and a Ryzen 7 5700U based on AMD's Zen 1 and Zen 2 architectures. For your reference, the Zen 3 architecture was released in late 2020, and we're currently awaiting the release of Zen 5 here in 2024. So, for the most part, the Ayaneo AM01 is still pretty much the same classic Macintosh-inspired mini-PC we covered before and has a very similar pricing scheme with the Ryzen 7 5800U as it does with other units. As-is, the Zen 3 Ryzen 7 5800U model looks astonishingly identical to the Zen 2 Ryzen 7 5700U at a glance, with the same basic core/thread spec, though, of course, the newer architecture has much better performance. The Ayaneo blog post also confirms that the Ryzen 7 is slated to operate at up to 35 Watts on the AM01, an ample boost to the official maximum TDP of 25 Watts. This higher TDP enabled alongside the proper RAM selection should help maximize the performance of the iGPU within. Pricing-wise, the Ayaneo AM01 is best purchased during the Early Bird window, which is a solid $30 cheaper. Considering the specs and size of the device, the price point is pretty tolerable for what it is, though the best bang for your buck will be found in devices like the LCD Steam Deck, used PCs, etc. If you hope to get your hands on the Ayaneo AM01 PC as soon as possible, head to their Indiegogo page to buy the device through crowdfunding. Stardew Valley's 1.6 update is now live, releasing yesterday after Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone had enough time to wake up and make a cup of coffee—very funny, Barone. After waiting beside my PC all day for any signs of life, I immediately updated and jumped into 1.6 to start a brand new farm (and try to romance Sebastian all over again), and it looks like I wasn't the only one. Stardew Valley broke a new record yesterday as it beat its own player count on Steam, reaching a whopping 146,159, meaning it's currently the seventh most-played game wedged between Helldivers 2 and GTA 5. Previously, the record for player count in Stardew Valley was 94,879 back in January 2021, around the same time that patch 1.5.4 was released. This is not bad going for a game that's over eight years old, but then 1.6 really is an enormous (and free) set of additions. There's drinkable mayonnaise, cats with hats, and an entirely new farm type, the Meadowlands (which is absolutely massive, and comes complete with chickens). 1.6 also introduced some great updates to multiplayer games: you can have up to eight friends play with you on PC, and the connection will hopefully be smoother now that players use Steam multiplayer authentication. If all the updates in 1.6 aren't enough to encourage you to give it a go for yourself or if, like me, your friends just need a little bit more persuasion, then another excellent selling point to bring up in your pitch is the fact that Stardew Valley is on sale right now—at 20% off, so $11.99/£8.79.
