Google has been ordered to hand over all contact details linked to accounts behind a series of damaging fake online reviews of a nursery. An Amsterdam judge told the tech firm to release internet and email addresses, phone numbers and names related to four reviewers, one of whom assumed the identity of a dead woman. Google deleted the reviews but the nursery's lawyer said it has not yet handed over the information. Google is reviewing the decision. The nursery, which was not named in the judge's ruling, complained that the reviews were making serious and unfounded claims that it was neglecting children, and that this was harming its business. Spam: Three of the reviews were removed by Google for breaching its anti-spam rules after the nursery complained, including one written in the name of a woman who died in the US in November 2006. Others were found to have been copied and pasted from other websites. In a ruling handed down last week, the judge CM Berkhout ordered the fourth to be removed because it too was in breach of the rules. Google was given two weeks to hand over the information related to the four accounts - all of which remain active on Google+ - as well as the exact dates and times the reviews were posted. It was also told to pay more than €1,500 (£1,100, $1,600) to the nursery by the same date. Stunning: Paul Tjiam of Simmons and Simmons, who represented the nursery, said he believed the case would make it more difficult for fake reviewers to "hide themselves behind their computers." He added that the nursery would contact the people behind the fake reviews before deciding whether or not to pursue civil action against them. He told the BBC that fake reviews online were not just an issue in the Netherlands, but a "worldwide problem." He said the courts' decision "shows that Google has a long way before its notice-and-take-down policy functions properly." Mr Tjiam said it was "stunning" that Google allowed the reviews to remain online. "Hopefully, another consequence of this decision is that it will make Google rethink their own policies and the way they enforce their policies." He added: "Google's attorneys informed me that Google is still considering an appeal, but as far as I know they have not made a decision." A Google spokesman declined to confirm that and said: "We've received the ruling and are currently reviewing it." The BBC understands that this is not the first time Google has removed reviews in the Netherlands, nor is it understood to be the first time it has been ordered to hand over internet protocol information, which identifies computers online.5 points

Po[CENSORED]r glasses are the simplest and most economic in the market. Combined with an application that uses stereoscopic technology, they have enabled Bonny to see. The Cardboard are the simplest and economic market but also combined with a free application, have made it possible to see a woman again after eight years without sight. Google has been the encagada to make known this curious story after Mike Tarantino hung in Youtube video starring his wife Bonny, who was diagnostricaron Stargardt's disease a decade ago, that is, a degeneration of the central area of the retina. As a result, eight years ago Bonny lost vision. However, this February the woman has been able to re-read a story to their grandchildren through technology. His family decided to use the Augmented VR Near Sighted Aid application through the main chamber of the "smartphone" shows the user two identical images using stereoscopic technology, one for each eye. That is, a 3D illusion is created from a pair of 2D images. Although best known use of virtual reality is leisure, such as the gaming industry, the reality is that your application goes far beyond. In fact, Google Cardboard, whose price is around 20 euros, are used in hospitals for 3D analysis or even operations.2 points

Virtual reality, the emerging technology that is poised to transform video gaming, is also coming to the movies. Here at Sundance 2016, more VR experiences than ever are being showcased as part of the film festival's New Frontier program, which celebrates new or alternative forms of creative expression. Ramzi Haidamus, president of Nokia Technologies, says the development of VR for filmmakers has been a long time in the works. He recently spearheaded OZO, the first virtual-reality camera designed specifically for Hollywood-grade filmmakers. Haidamus has been experimenting with virtual reality for years and says the technology is making huge strides. "I couldn't jump," Haidamus said after trying out "The Climb." He credits audiences' hunger to be closely connected to stories and VR's appealing price point as being a "perfect storm" for the technology this year. Actor Paul Scheer watches Funny Or Die's premiere of the first-ever virtual-reality comedy short, "Interrogation," at Sundance. After several years of breathless hype, the Oculus Rift, a $600 virtual-reality headset designed for consumers, arrives in March, joining the Samsung Gear VR and other products already on the market. These headsets allow wearers to see lifelike, immersive 3-D imagery in all directions, making them feel like they are part of the scene they are viewing. Gasking believes that making VR affordable is key to helping the technology catch on with filmmakers. "Four years ago the price of a pair of headsets were $40,000. And four years later you can use a Google cardboard or the like to watch these sorts of experiences. That's an incredible change," he said. "With a much cheaper price tag, filmmakers are finally getting the tools that they need to experiment with VR." Meanwhile, movie ticket sales in North America have been flattening amid fierce competition from streaming services such as Netflix, making Hollywood eager to develop technologies to excite moviegoers. "The industry needs a new way (for moviegoers) to consume more immersive content without having to go to a theater," Haidamus said, adding that film studios are partnering with companies like Nokia to make VR content. Through such partnerships, film studios can share an entirely new experiences with their traditional audiences by taking them as close to the story as possible. All the user has to do is buy a pair of VR goggles and download content, which can be viewed in the comfort of their own home. 8i's executive creative director Rainer Gombos won an Emmy award for his visual effects work on HBO's "Games of Thrones" and said that from a filmmaker's perspective, VR expands the possibilities of storytelling. "You can immerse the viewer into worlds -- artificial or reality-like worlds -- that you couldn't do before," Gombos said. VR is also groundbreaking for the viewer, he said. "You can move around in the scene and look around at things from different angles. You can tell stories. You can entertain. You can have people experience larger-than-life events." On the film festival's opening day, Sundance founder and Hollywood icon Robert Redford said he supports VR but still sees some drawbacks to the technology. "I look forward to a time when we can take virtual reality to a new place that doesn't require assistance," Redford said, referencing the goggles. When it comes to watching movies, the actor-filmmaker is more of a traditionalist. "Whatever the technology drives us to -- smaller and smaller and quicker and quicker and quicker -- I will always believe that you can't really replace the value of gathering in a community space in the dark on a big screen and being transported," Redford said. Sundance Film Festival director John Cooper said he believes the debate doesn't have to be so black or white. "I still think there's room for both. I mean there just has to be," Cooper said. "The intimacy of that one-on-one experience is the power of that medium. The power of film, being in a group, that's the power of that and I think they're both important." Either way, both Haidamus and Gasking are confident about the [CENSORED]ure of VR being key to visual storytelling. "Virtual reality, beyond the initial thrill, is a real new interface. Not only just for storytelling, but for the entire Internet. So you're going to be able to go from a two-dimensional screen and actually walk into a website," Gasking said. "It's going change everything."2 points

Grim Dawn is an action role-playing game developed and published by Crate Entertainment. Crate Entertainment announced on July 27, 2009 that they had licensed the Titan Quest engine from Iron Lore and announced Grim Dawn's development on January 21, 2010. Initially, few details were revealed, with Crate Entertainment simply stating that Grim Dawn is set in a thematically-dark fictional world loosely based on the Victorian era. Grim Dawn was released on February 25, 2016. The game takes place in Cairn, a dark, war-torn world where a once proud empire has been brought to ruin and the human race driven to the edge of extinction. Cairn has become ground zero of an eternal war between two otherworldly powers, the Aetherials and Chthonians, one seeking to use human bodies as a resource, the other intent upon destroying the human race before that can happen. Humans had come into communication with extra-dimensional beings. They learned things from the whisperings of these otherworldly entities and eventually attempted to open a portal to bring one across. Naturally, being paranoid of the unknown as humans often are, they also devised a way to imprison it once it came through. Through experimentation, they learned that these beings, made of aether, a sort of spiritual energy, could fuse themselves with the human mind, possessing and controlling their host if they were able to subvert the human's will. The researchers discovered that a human, once possessed, retained heightened abilities after the aetherial being was purged from them. Naturally, this research got out of control as such things always do. The researchers brought over more aetherials, they got loose, the aetherials were able to then open more portals into their own world, bringing over large numbers of their brethren. With them they brought aetherial obelisks. Such an obelisk is an abomination formed out of earth and the flesh of unlucky creatures absorbed into it. At its core is a giant crystal imbued with vast aetherial energy. The purpose of the obelisk is to transform portions of the world to be more suitable for aetherial habitation. While the Aetherials are seeking to use human bodies as a resource, the Chthonians appeared to destroy the human race before that could happen. This cataclysmic war has not only decimated human civilization but is warping the very fabric of reality and, in its wake, giving life to new horrors. The warp is the result of aetherial energy seeping into the human plane of existence. The Aetherials have the ability to mani[CENSORED]te this energy but, untamed, it can spread like fire, feeding off the material world and growing in intensity. It is hazardous to living creatures, similar to fire or radiation and prolonged exposure to small doses can alter and distort living things. The world can never be fully restored to the way it once was. Grim Dawn is about survival and adaptation to the grim new reality. Individual survival and the collective survival of what remains of humanity. Small enclaves of human survivors exist scattered throughout the world, holed up in hidden refuges. These humans have quietly watched the warring invaders destroy one another and have become wise to the strengths and vulnerabilities of their otherworldly foes. A few survivors have begun to exhibit strange new abilities after surviving possession or exposure to the warp. These unnatural powers are feared by some but give many new hope of launching a resistance to fight the "outsiders" and reclaim what's left of their world. A lot of details about the events that lead up to the current conditions of the world will be conveyed in scraps of writing that the player character (PC) can find. One of the main sources of information are pages from the "Journal of Constable Creed." Creed worked as an imperial intelligence agent but ended up catching on to things he wasn't supposed to know. He quickly finds himself transferred out of the capital city with a non-negotiable "promotion" to constable of a quiet backwater town. While there, Creed starts to take notice of various "strange happenings" that are sort of precursors to the cataclysmic event which brings the world to its current state of being and clues to the insidious plot that brought it all about. Devil's Crossing Prison will be the start of the game. Human survivors have taken up refuge behind the thick walls and iron bars of the prison. The iron bars help keep out Aetherials. The cliff walls surrounding the plateau also make for a highly defensible location, so it was a natural choice for refugees of the nearby Burrwitch Village to try and hold out. This is a town you will frequently return to and it will contain memorable NPCs. Like other prominent action role-playing games, the majority of the gameplay in Grim Dawn will center around fast paced combat and the collection of loot - armor, potions, weapons, and money. Crate confirmed in an interview that Grim Dawn will feature a crafting system similar to that used in Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos's po[CENSORED]r mod Defense of the Ancients. Grim Dawn will also build upon existing systems present in Titan Quest, such as improved physics, location specific damage effects, dismemberment, and a completely redesigned quest system. In redesigning the quest system, Crate confirmed that Grim Dawn will feature factions Trail Of Game2 points

Chinese servers are taking a larger chunk of server shipments from U.S. vendors, Gartner says Fiber optics link servers in data center on Google's campus. Servers are facing the same fate as PCs and mobile devices, with a growing number of them made in Asian countries like China and Taiwan, a Gartner analyst says. Much like PCs and mobile devices, it's cheaper for companies to buy servers made in Asia than in the U.S., and buyers can get servers customized to meet their specific requirements, said Jeffrey Hewitt, an analyst at Gartner. Companies like Google, Facebook and Amazon, which build mega data centers, design servers in-house and have them made in China or Taiwan. Most of these servers are customized for hyperscale environments, in which companies deploy public and private clouds and deal with heavy Web traffic. The seven largest public cloud providers are going directly to Chinese and Taiwanese manufacturers, said Patrick Moorhead, principal analyst at Moor Insights and Strategy. One of those companies is Google, one of the largest server buyers in the world. Large Chinese companies like Alibaba, Tencent and Baidu also prefer to buy from local companies for security and "nationalistic" reasons, Moorhead said. Those companies are bypassing traditional U.S. server makers Hewlett-Packard Enterprise and Dell, Gartner's Hewitt said. Companies ask Asian companies to strip down server configurations to the bare minimum, while U.S. vendors resist shipping stripped-down machines, Hewitt said. The bare-bones configurations don't include extra features like security chips and management engines, Hewitt said. Facebook and Google are also able to bring down hardware costs by buying components in volume. "They don't need the support that the OEM provides. They do it themselves," Hewitt said. Worldwide server shipments totaled 2.96 million units during the fourth quarter of 2015, growing by 9.2 percent from the same quarter a year ago, according to a study released by Gartner Wednesday. Growth was driven by Chinese server vendors Lenovo, Huawei and Inspur Electronics. Those three server makers were ranked behind the top two, HPE and Dell, whose shipments declined. HPE shipped 626,000 units, declining by 2.6 percent compared to the fourth quarter in 2014. Dell shipped 528,000 units, a 0.3 percent decline. In contrast, Lenovo's shipments went up by 5.9 percent to 257,000 units and Huawei's shipments went up by 27 percent to 150,000 units. Inspur's shipments exploded, growing 53 percent to 140,000 units. A group of other server makers shipped 1.26 million units during the fourth quarter, outnumbering the shipments of both HPE and Dell combined. That group included Taiwanese server makers Quanta, Wistron and Inventec. However, HPE and Dell are adapting to the changing trends. For example, HPE is partnering with Foxconn -- which has factories in Taiwan and China -- to make low-cost cloud servers for hyperscale environments. Foxconn also makes PCs, iPads and iPhones. The U.S. server makers are also moving away from the old days of building servers with commodity hardware. The companies are introducing creative server designs and adding value by integrating more storage and networking elements. Customers who need support will also rely on servers from Dell or HPE, Hewitt said. HPE, Dell, IBM, Lenovo are also closely tying software and cloud services to their servers, Moorhead added. This includes Red Hat with OpenStack, Microsoft's Azure HybridCloud and Nutanix, which is bundled in Lenovo servers. Also bundled with some servers is software from VMWare; Dell is in the process of buying EMC, which owns VMware. China is becoming a battleground for server chip makers. Intel's x86 server chip rules the China market, but Qualcomm and IBM are trying to push their chips, based on ARM and Power architectures respectively, into more servers.1 point

AMD says Zen puts the company on par with Intel on technology and manufacturing. AMD's new G-series chips are targeted at embedded devices. PC enthusiasts prefer either AMD or Intel chips—there’s often no middle ground. But AMD believes its upcoming Zen chips will have crossover appeal for even the Intel faithful. AMD is betting its [CENSORED]ure on the upcoming Zen chips, which are based on a new architecture built from scratch. Zen wipes out inefficiencies that hurt older chips, which performed poorly and damaged AMD’s reputation as an innovative chip maker. There are still AMD enthusiasts, though many have moved on to Intel, whose chips are considered to be more advanced. But AMD is now catching up with Intel on processor technology and manufacturing process, said Mark Papermaster, the chief technology officer at AMD, speaking at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media and Telecom Conference this week. At its peak in the early 2000s, AMD was considered a serious threat to Intel. A shining example is the Athlon 64, the first 64-bit chip for PCs. It caused Intel to scramble to release its first 64-bit chip shortly after. But a series of missteps hampered AMD’s progress. AMD’s chip development stumbled starting with Phenom in 2007, and got worse with Fusion, the first chip to integrate a CPU and GPU. An AMD chip architecture called Bulldozer and its subsequent derivatives were criticized for poor performance. Intel advanced chip designs, for the most part, like clockwork. There were a few delays—for example, for the Pentium 4 in 2004 and Broadwell a decade later—but overall Intel’s dominant x86 chip market share was not hurt. Meanwhile, Zen chips have CPU performance improvements, measured as instructions per clock, of 40 percent, a jump that has not been seen historically, Papermaster said. That’s important for gamers, who eke every last megahertz of performance out of a PC. The first Zen chips will ship for gaming desktops at the end of this year. It will then go to servers and laptops in 2017, and then embedded devices. Recent focus on chip development has been on power efficiency as opposed to raw CPU performance, Papermaster said. Intel’s raw CPU performance gains have been incremental over the last few architectures, mostly in single digits or low double digits, but the power efficiency focus has paid dividends as laptops have longer battery life. On its part, AMD has worked on various improvements to boost Zen’s chip performance. AMD has added simultaneous multithreading so virtual-machine or highly threaded workloads can be balanced. The cache subsystem has been redesigned so tasks can be efficiently fed to execution cores. AMD has also removed bottlenecks that hampered earlier architectures, while maintaining power efficiency and performance. Also, AMD will be on par with Intel on manufacturing technology as Zen chips will be made using the 14-nanometer process, Papermaster said. The Zen chips will be based on FinFET, a manufacturing technology that will bring significant performance and power-efficiency gains. FinFET technology stacks transistors on top of each other in a skyscraper structure, an improvement over placing transistors next to each other. AMD’s chip manufacturer, GlobalFoundries, has caught up on manufacturing with Intel, which also makes 14-nm chips. Intel has historically been ahead of AMD on manufacturing, but recently stumbled with its implementation of the 14-nm process. Intel has been making 14-nm for longer than expected, and that has led to wholesale changes in chip roadmaps. However, AMD’s parity with Intel on manufacturing will be short-lived. Intel will release the first chips code-named Cannonlake, made using the 10-nm process, in the second half of 2017. AMD’s trump card could be graphics, which can be combined with Zen CPUs for fast-growing markets like gaming and virtual reality. AMD is working with headset and PC makers on VR. Intel doesn’t have a GPU as powerful as AMD’s Radeon graphics core. But Intel chips have their own advantages and features. Later this year the company will come out with products based on 3D Xpoint, which is a fast form of memory and storage. The new memory and SSD technology could bring overall performance improvements to Intel-based PCs.1 point

Vulkan is the response of the Khronos Group for Microsoft DirectX 12, Apple's Metal and former AMD Mantle API to provide high-performance graphics. First AP referred to this as the "next generation OpenGL initiative", but once named Vulkan, the former title was in the past. Vulkan drift and was built based on the ADM Mantle technology which was donated by AMD with the intention of giving Khronos a base on which to begin developing an API that could standardize across the industry (like OpenGL), but Vulkan has evolved far beyond, is no longer tied to hardware design GNC AMD and is able to fit all use cases in all ecosystems, the API has evolved long after they have been reviewed by many different parts. Khronos President Neil Trevett, made it clear that Vulkan is much more than a different approach Mantle. Among the objectives of Vulkan this design applications with 3D graphics in real time, such as games and interactive media on all platforms, as well as it is intended to provide a variety of advantages over other APIs, providing lower overhead, more direct control on the GPU and lower higher performance with lower CPU usage, being able to better distribute work across multiple CPU cores. It is also characterized by a cross-platform API that relies on high-end graphics cards and OS agnostic features to improve the portability of applications created using this API. Vulkan 1.0 is designed to accommodate the use cases smartphone, desktop and console, is now an API capabilities multi-threading, with much lower overhead compared to OpenGL drivers and supports shaders precompiled through SPIR- V. Unlike other alternative APIs, Vulkan is a multiplatform and a true industry standard. Currently there Vulkan SDK available for Android, Linux and Windows, although still in beta, AMD and Nvidia have released that support Vulkan. Vulkan 1.0 is not the final version, [CENSORED]ure revisions will come, of course, once the working group has received feedback from other developers. And what about OpenGL? While Vulkan 1.0 is at the forefront to handle high-capacity graphics, OpenGL is not being abandoned by the Khronos Group, the developers responsible for this project will be maintained and must evolve. Vulkan is not strictly necessary for all game developers and applications, this will depend on both you worried about performance, if you need help from the graphics card, if you're an API that is more accessible, if your workload can not be parallelized, etc. It has also been discussed adding support for OpenGL SPIR-V and other improvements on that front. However, the Khronos Group has not officially announced new specifications or updates of OpenGL, but is a matter to be vigilant in the coming months. One of the OpenGL extensions (unofficial) exposed by the NVIDIA driver is the GL_NV_draw_vulkan_image. This extension provides DrawVkImageNV the ability to draw a rectangle that can display all or some of the contents of VkImage in Vulkan two-dimensionally. This extension will also provide functions for synchronizing between Vulkan and OpenGL drawing basically the extension will provide a way to present content Vulkan within an OpenGL context. Games and Vulkan On February 16 Croteam has launched Talos Principle, uploaded on the Steam platform using the engine Vulkan. Unfortunately version of this game for Linux is not yet available to the public, but will be soon The delay is due to the search for the drivers of conformance. These drivers Vulkan 1.0 will be released soon as we know that the beta version of Windows is available on Steam. From Valve, it is also expected to be available soon Dota2 supported Vulkan, also appear in the [CENSORED]ure other games. Michael Larabel, Phoronix forum writer commented that "as a game developer who had an early involvement in Vulkan had been warned to expect a miracle not expect the gaming performance of Vulkan". This is because the Vulkan API offers many possibilities for better performance and increased optimizations, games and their engines are being tuned for DirectX 11 and OpenGL. It was not until the appearance of the new games or redesigned engines that exist around Vulkan better performance in OpenGL / DX11. This is why the games currently available in Vulkan can be slower than those existing in the OpenGL processor, this while working on several bugs games and drivers. Although game developers are excited about the possibilities offered Vulkan, it will take time to fully develop. A situation similar to this happened when Direct3D 11 was released and began to support the games, after games started running faster than Direct3D 9. It was already known that adaptation to Android would not be ready with the premiere, which Google signed a team to a specialized team for this task less than half a year. But at least we learned that the SKD will come soon and that some companies have created drivers for Android 6.0 Marhsmallow. If something makes clear all information material Khronos Group has released is that Google will take full responsibility for their adaptation, not your competition. From each supported platform they are to provide a set of detailed and personalized features. And if not, as decided responsible for Windows and Linux, is the consortium itself that creates it based on feedback received. However, it has been confirmed that Android functions will be defined in-house and also you will test on the platform itself, guarantee the greatest possible optimization. This low-level API give more control over the hardware. It allows the GPU to work in parallel with multi-core CPU, reducing bottlenecks by making good use of the multiple processing threads. The result will be a better use of hardware especially in tasks such as video games or 3D design, accompanied by a reduction in battery consumption. What has come this day of release are the drivers. They have been accepted over 30 different and some are more in the approval stage. Of these, both Nvidia and Qualcomm have passed conformance testing for drivers of Android 6.0. Of course, this is no guarantee that your landing is close, but opens the debate. It seems logical that Google will wait until the arrival of Android N, and given the propagation speed of its predecessor, that would contain the software that exploits it well into 2017 to have it in a large number of devices. But manufacturers have already advanced support some chips, such as Snapdragon SoC 820 that will be mounted some smartphones Marshmallow.1 point
