Apple recently released a major accessory to the tech world: its mixed reality headset called the Vision Pro . This occurred during WWDC 2023 last month. Since then, this product has been the center of attention due to its innovative features… and also because of its high price. However, the latter is not the only challenge the company is facing with the accessory.

One example is that its complicated design appears to have led to production complications, forcing the company to make significant cuts to its manufacturing plans. And this is something that is not exactly something positive.A very important cut from Apple

There's no question that Apple's Vision Pro is one of the most complex products the company has created to date. With so many innovative features, it's hard to fit them all into such a compact device (which has been a huge success, go ahead). This has led the firm to considerably reduce its production plans , as indicated in the source of the information .Initially, it was planned to launch the glasses early next year and, by this time, have one million glasses manufactured . However, the company has asked two China-based suppliers to supply components for only 130,000 to 150,000 units . A very important cut and, from what it seems, the initial sales forecasts are not as expected.

The Vision Pro uses several very new technologies, which has complicated their manufacture. Additionally, production challenges have been compounded by supply chain delays. As a result of the production cuts, it is estimated that Apple will sell fewer than 400,000 units of the Vision Pro by 2024 . While this represents a significant reduction from the initial sales target, it is still a considerable amount for a new category.A technological leap that may -or may not- succeed

This product is Apple's first big step into the augmented reality market. It is expected to be a high-end device with features like eye tracking, facial recognition, and high-resolution displays. It is not yet clear how the production cuts will affect the price of the Vision Pro, but it is likely that the final price of the accessory will even be higher than announced (which could be a catastrophe).Despite the cutbacks, Apple seems to continue to support the Vision Pro. The company reportedly plans to release a more affordable version of the headset in 2025 . However, we don't know if Apple will achieve its production goals for the Vision Pro in 2024.
