Australian Daria Saville beat British US Open champion Emma Raducanu 5-7, 7-6(4), 4-3 to advance to the round of 16 at the Zapopan Open.

Saville, 27, and 610 in the world ranking, will face American Caroline Dolehide in the next round, who beat China's Lin Zhu 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.

The 19-year-old Briton, number 12 in the world, retired in the third set due to an injury to her left thigh after 3h 37 of the match.

The first set was a feast of breaks; the Australian landed the first on Raducanu's inaugural serve, the British immediately called in the same coin, but Saville repeated the dose.

After trailing 1-3, Raducanu finally held serve, leveled the set at 3-3 with his second break and took a 4-3 lead thanks to his drive from the back of the court. From there he did not stop until he won 7-5 with the seal of the first set; with another break.
