The Argentine tennis players Diego Schwartzman and Federico Coria, the Spaniard Pablo Andújar and the Italian Fabio Fognini won their respective commitments on Wednesday and advanced to the quarterfinals of the Rio de Janeiro Open, the only ATP 500 tournament in South America.

Schwarzman, third favorite in the Brazilian tournament, will face Andújar on Friday for a place in the semifinals, while Coria will have to face Fognini.

Schwarzman, number 15 in the ATP international ranking and champion in Rio de Janeiro in 2018, had no difficulty eliminating 2-0, with partial 6-1 and 6-1, the Spanish Pedro Martínez (62 ATP), in a fast One hour and 33-minute match that ended at dawn on Thursday.

The Argentine, who last Sunday lost the final of the Argentine Open against the Norwegian Casper Ruud, made clear his superiority in both sets and only allowed the Spaniard to win two games.
