It is the itch that England have struggled to scratch. Rarely do they get very much from Brazil; their record in games with them is worse than that against any other opponent and it was a night when things got worse, adding a worry line or two to Gareth Southgate’s brow. It was meant to be different, a friendly to fine-tune for the European Championship in the summer, even as Southgate missed key players – most notably the captain Harry Kane, Luke Shaw and Bukayo Saka. Brazil had been portrayed as being in crisis, the new manager, Dorival Júnior, warning that he did not have a magic wand. By the end, it looked as though he did. Gareth Southgate and Kobbie Mainoo ‘I’m not down’: Southgate praises England’s new boys in Brazil defeat Read more England were second best. They could get little going in an attacking sense, Kane & co were missed, the understudies not doing enough; a few flashes from Anthony Gordon apart. There was the feeling, especially in the first half, that England were vulnerable – reports of Brazil’s demise are plainly premature – and Dorival Júnior’s team got the goal they deserved towards the end. The error came from the England substitute Lewis Dunk, who got a header all wrong and when another substitute, Andreas Pereira, released Vinícius Júnior in behind John Stones, the alarm bells rang. Vinícius was denied by Jordan Pickford but the 17-year-old Palmeiras prodigy, Endrick, who will join Real Madrid in the summer, was on hand to convert the rebound. He had come off the bench and he would go close to a stoppage-time second, Pickford denying him in a one-on-one. The smattering of boos upon the full-time whistle was inevitable, almost traditional, and Southgate was left with much to ponder before Tuesday night’s friendly here against Belgium. England’s record against Brazil now shows 12 defeats in 27 matches, with just four wins. Southgate missed his regulars in four positions – including the fast emerging problem area in midfield alongside Declan Rice – and it became five when Kyle Walker was forced off with a hamstring problem after the early exchanges; on came Ezri Konsa for his debut at right-back. It would be a fight for England to locate their rhythm. Plenty of the pre-match talk had been about how this was a new Brazil and one with which the millions back at home have struggled to connect. Never mind the results so far in South American World Cup qualification – three defeats in six games. There is the widespread feeling in Brazil that their football is a level below that of Europe’s elite. Dorival Júnior had a host of players out through injury and he gave debuts to five in his starting XI. He did have Vinícius and what a comfort that was. The one undisputed A-lister in the lineup shimmered with menace as Brazil worked to find their touches and passing connections at the outset; the Wembley crowd was subdued. Vinícius should have scored in the 12th minute only to shoot weakly past Pickford, which allowed Walker to get back and mop up in front of goal. The chance had been created by a lovely piece of skill by Lucas Paquetá followed by a floated through-ball. There was also the moment when Vinícius sliced away from Walker inside the area but, rather than shoot, he exaggerated the contact from a check by Walker and went down. It was not a penalty. [1] Choosing Your Battles Pick arguments that you can defend well. Make sure your argument is related to the coursework or about how you’re doing in the class. Avoid starting any arguments about personal subjects or things unrelated to the class since they could be distracting. Pick an argument that you can easily defend with facts rather than your own opinions.[1] For example, don’t start an argument about a seating arrangement because you want to sit next to a friend. Something you could argue about is changing a seating arrangement if another student is bothering or cheating off of you. You can also talk to your teacher about how you’re performing in class, such as a missed assignment you’d like to turn in or a bad grade you want them to raise. Plan your arguments ahead of time to anticipate your teacher’s responses. Split a piece of paper into 3 columns. Write down the main arguments you want to address in the leftmost column. Brainstorm what you think your teacher will say to each argument and write them down in the middle column. Try to come up with a response to what you think your teacher will say and fill in the rightmost column.[2] For example, if you want to turn in an assignment late, you may write down, “I had a lot of other homework,” in the left column. The middle column may read, “You should have planned better.” Finally, the right column may read something like, “I should have planned better, but I had a game last night and wasn’t able to complete it.” Ask your teacher to meet with you privately. Talk to your teacher after they’re done giving their lesson so you don’t interrupt them. Let them know that you have concerns you want to talk about and see if they have time to talk in private. If they don’t have time immediately, ask if you can come back during an off hour or if you can schedule an appointment with them so you can have a discussion.[3] For example, you may say, “Mr. Smith, would you have time to talk after class today in your office?” See if your teacher is available during a lunch period so you both have time to talk within school hours. [2]Presenting Your Argument Explain the situation that you disagree with to your teacher. Once you’re with the teacher in private, calmly talk about your main arguments. Speak with a clear voice and present your arguments and why you think you’re right. Use “I” statements instead of “you” statements to avoid placing blame on your teacher. Maintain eye contact so you can connect with your teacher and show them you care about the subject.[4] For example, you may say, “I know your policy on turning in late work, but I would like to turn this assignment if I can.” Source :https://www.wikihow.com/Argue-With-Teachers

A United Nations Security Council resolution proposed by the United States calling for a ceasefire tied to the release of hostages in Gaza failed to pass on Friday, after Russia and China vetoed the draft. The rejected draft resolution called for “an immediate and sustained ceasefire… in connection with the release of all remaining hostages.” Washington had previously vetoed three prior UN resolutions calling for a ceasefire. The UN vote came amid resumed hostage talks in Qatar on Friday, and as US Secretary of State Antony Blinken arrived in Israel to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as part of an intensive diplomatic push toward a ceasefire. The US, Israel’s most prominent defender on the world stage, has faced severe criticism in Arab countries and in Europe for its refusal to call for a ceasefire early in the Gaza war as well as its reluctance to translate its verbal criticism of Israel’s conduct to diplomatic action. Eleven security council members voted for the resolution but permanent members Russia and China, who have veto power, blocked it. Israel Ambassador to the UN Gilad Erdan said the Security Council’s decision “not to condemn Hamas is a stain that will never be forgotten.” Meanwhile, Algeria – which also rejected the resolution – said the submitted text “was not a clear message of peace, and would have allowed for more Palestinian civilians to be killed.” The US had previously rejected a ceasefire resolution put forth by Algeria. With the draft resolution, Washington was seeking to recover from international criticism of its support for Israel, experts say. The resolution included phrasing that the US was unwilling to use before, said Frank Lowenstein, who worked as US Special Envoy for Israeli-Palestinian Negotiations under US President Barack Obama during the 2014 Israel-Gaza war. This referred to an “immediate ceasefire,” which the former diplomat said was likely a bid to bring the US back from months of international “isolation.” “It gets the US back in line with the international community so we’re not as isolated as we’ve been in vetoing,” he said. Lowenstein said that Russia and China’s veto was “a blatant effort” to keep the US isolated. “They (Russia and China) are playing politics with the ceasefire, clearly putting their desire to isolate the US internationally ahead of the interests of the Palestinians in Gaza who desperately need a ceasefire,” he said. The US struck down a draft resolution on October 18 that called for “humanitarian pauses,” which US Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield vetoed as it “did not mention Israel’s right of self-defense.” The US vetoed a second UN resolution on December 8, rejecting a version put forth by the United Arab Emirates that called for “an immediate humanitarian ceasefire,” as well as “the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages” and “ensuring humanitarian access.” More recently, US vetoed an Algerian resolution on February 20 that called for an immediate ceasefire, which Thomas-Greenfield said “would put sensitive negotiations in jeopardy.” Washington’s attitude toward Israel’s war policies gradually changed, however, amid mounting death tolls in Gaza and growing opposition to what American and international observers perceived as the Biden administration’s inability to reign in its Israeli ally. While playing Dragon's Dogma 2 I lost around four hours of progress and it's all because of that pesky little "Load from Last Inn Rest" option in the main menu. You see, Dragon's Dogma 2 is pretty hardcore when it comes to saves, consequences, and just generally wanting you to bear the brunt of your decisions. It's not an RPG where you can really game saves—for the most part you can't reload an old save to take back something you did Skyrim-style. You can't even start a new game in Dragon's Dogma 2 itself, so you're stuck with whatever ugly beastren mug you chose until you reach the barberie in the capital city of Vernworth to change appearance—unless you go through an elaborate process deleting your save. Now to give some context; there are two ways to load saves in Dragon's Dogma 2 from the main menu: Load from Last Save Load from Last Inn Rest After playing the game for any length of time you'll realise that you don't actually rest at inns very often—especially with that 2,000 gold price—and spend most of it camping out in the wilderness, so 90% of your saves will be made based on when you choose to save the game or when it autosaves. However, the danger of the inn save is ever present. This is because, and here's the important part, if you choose the "Load from Last Inn Rest" option it will delete your other save.

Cupra is a Spanish car brand that's part of the VW Group, and it's planning to come to the U.S. Initially part of Seat, Cupra is now a standalone brand and it plans to built EVs in North America by the end of the decade. The lineup could include two SUV models, a Sportback-style hatch, and even possibly a sports car similar to the Dark Rebel concept. Cupra, the up-and-coming Spanish satellite of the Volkswagen Group, is on a roll. And now the team is preparing the next coup, a launch in the U.S. before the end of the decade. Here are the details. What Is Cupra? Cupra started life in 2016 as a subdivision of the Spanish Seat brand that specialized in sporty equipment packs, kind of a poor man's AMG Line or BMW M Sport. But only two years later, it got upgraded to full-fledged brand status. The kick-off product, a go-fast version of the Ateca small SUV, was followed by the Leon hatchback and the Leon wagon in 2021. The first standalone Cupra model was the Formentor SUV (pictured at top), which shares its genes with the Audi Q3 and VW Tiguan. Two and a half years ago, the Born crossover based on the VW ID.3 marked the brand ́s entry to the EV segment, which will eventually become its sole battleground. https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a60277409/cupra-ev-car-brand-usa/

The prime minister, Rishi Sunak, has said that he “prefers the original England shirt”. What on earth does that even mean?? I do wish journalists would challenge such opportunistic shit-stirring nonsense. Starmer isn’t much better on this. I bet if asked, Sunak would say his favourite Beatles album is The Best of The Beatles. And Thomas is hopeful: Good to see Derby get a mention – in the company of Man City even! On a trip home last weekend (from the US) I watched them play promotion rivals Bolton. Bolton were by far the better team but Derby got the 1-0 win with massive support from a sold out 32,000+ crowd. Derby play Northampton tomorrow with a chance to extend their lead over Bolton to seven points and close to within two of Portsmouth. Given that Bolton still have to play Portsmouth and none of Derby’s remaining fixtures are against any of the top 8, things are looking hopeful for a return to the Championship. https://www.theguardian.com/uk/sport

The dog (Canis familiaris[4][5] or Canis lupus familiaris[5]) is a domesticated descendant of the wolf. Also called the domestic dog, it is derived from extinct gray wolves,[6][7] and the gray wolf is the dog's closest living relative.[8] The dog was the first species to be domesticated[9][8] by humans. Experts estimate that hunter-gatherers domesticated dogs more than 15,000 years ago in Oberkassel, Bonn,[7] which was before the development of agriculture.[1] Due to their long association with humans, dogs have expanded to a large number of domestic individuals[10] and gained the ability to thrive on a starch-rich diet that would be inadequate for other canids.[11] The dog has been selectively bred over millennia for various behaviors, sensory capabilities, and physical attributes.[12] Dog breeds vary widely in shape, size, and color. They perform many roles for humans, such as hunting, herding, pulling loads, protection, assisting police and the military, companionship, therapy, and aiding disabled people. Over the millennia, dogs became uniquely adapted to human behavior, and the human–canine bond has been a topic of frequent study.[13] This influence on human society has given them the sobriquet of "man's best friend".[14] Taxonomy Further information: Canis lupus dingo § Taxonomic debate – the domestic dog, dingo, and New Guinea singing dog In 1758, the Swedish botanist and zoologist Carl Linnaeus published in his Systema Naturae, the two-word naming of species (binomial nomenclature). Canis is the Latin word meaning "dog",[15] and under this genus, he listed the domestic dog, the wolf, and the golden jackal. He classified the domestic dog as Canis familiaris and, on the next page, classified the grey wolf as Canis lupus.[2] Linnaeus considered the dog to be a separate species from the wolf because of its upturning tail (cauda re[CENSORED]ta), which is not found in any other canid.[16] In 1999, a study of mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) indicated that the domestic dog may have originated from the grey wolf, with the dingo and New Guinea singing dog breeds having developed at a time when human communities were more isolated from each other.[17] In the third edition of Mammal Species of the World published in 2005, the mammalogist W. Christopher Wozencraft listed under the wolf Canis lupus its wild subspecies and proposed two additional subspecies, which formed the domestic dog clade: familiaris, as named by Linnaeus in 1758 and, dingo named by Meyer in 1793. Wozencraft included hallstromi (the New Guinea singing dog) as another name (junior synonym) for the dingo. Wozencraft referred to the mtDNA study as one of the guides informing his decision.[3] Mammalogists have noted the inclusion of familiaris and dingo together under the "domestic dog" clade[18] with some debating it.[19] In 2019, a workshop hosted by the IUCN/Species Survival Commission's Canid Specialist Group considered the dingo and the New Guinea singing dog to be feral Canis familiaris and therefore did not assess them for the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.[4] Evolution https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dog
