An immobile NPC becomes quite mobile when paired with a friendly pooch. Some old grumps might think Elden Ring is too big, but for many others the joy of the Lands Between lies in how many secrets it keeps serving up—whether that's speedrunners somehow glitching the game to completion in minutes, or hardy sorts butt-stomping their way to the Elden Throne. This one isn't quite on that scale, but a surprising reminder of how many unexpected interactions may yet remain to be discovered. Player @rasukuclaver shared this element of the game, and here's your chance to watch it unfold and be shaken to your very core, before I explain what's going on. No, the explanation is not just " she got on the wolf, dawg." The NPC companion being summoned here is a Spirit Ash called Latenna the Albinauric, and you obtain this through a side-quest featuring the character (here is how to get hold of her). Latenna's found in front of the Slumbering Wolf's Shack in Liurnia of the Lakes, and after completing various steps she will willingly join the player in order to help them towards the Haligtree. In order to do this though, she abandons her wolf companion: "Then I suppose it's time. Farewell, Lobo. My faithful wolf, my better half. I will go with the Tarnished. So that our journey will not have been in vain. Forgive me, Lobo." The Spirit Ash description reads that "having lost her beloved wolf companion, Lobo, she cannot move from the place where she was summoned." Elden Ring has giant enemy Direwolves. Summon Latenna around one and she will attract it towards her, somehow charm it, and take to their back. This not only gives a normally stationary character greater movement and survivability, but unlocks the Freezing Mist attack from her mount (as can be seen above). This isn't game-changing, really. It just means that one of your Spirit Ash companions has an extra layer to it, which happens to be badass, and can therefore be of incredible use in the right context: Latenna is cool and all, but a wolf-mounted Latenna is ice-cold. I mean: she got on the wolf, dawg. https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/turns-out-an-elden-ring-summon-can-tame-and-ride-giant-enemy-wolves/

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has held talks in Kyiv with Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky. No 10 said the visit was a "show of solidarity" with the Ukrainian people. Following the meeting, Downing Street said the UK would send 120 armoured vehicles and anti-ship missile systems to support Ukraine. Senior officials in Mr Zelensky's team praised the UK for support during its conflict with Russia. Mr Johnson's visit to Kyiv was not announced in advance and the first indication he was in the city came when a photograph of his meeting with President Zelensky was put on Twitter by the Ukrainian embassy in London. A Downing Street spokesman said: "The prime minister has travelled to Ukraine to meet President Zelensky in person, in a show of solidarity with the Ukrainian people." In a statement after the meeting, Mr Johnson paid tribute to "President Zelensky's resolute leadership and the invincible heroism and courage of the Ukrainian people", saying: "Ukraine has defied the odds and pushed back Russian forces from the gates of Kyiv". He said: "I made clear today that the United Kingdom stands unwaveringly with them in this ongoing fight, and we are in it for the long run. "We are stepping up our own military and economic support and convening a global alliance to bring this tragedy to an end, and ensure Ukraine survives and thrives as a free and sovereign nation." Mr Johnson also confirmed further economic support, taking total UK loan guarantees to £770m. Speaking in a video address alongside President Zelensky a short while later, Mr Johnson said Ukrainians "have shown the courage of a lion but you, Volodymyr, have given the roar of that lion". He reiterated that the UK and other countries supporting Ukraine would continue to tighten economic sanctions on Moscow, including moving away from the use of Russian hydrocarbons. The PM added: "Over the last few hours I've been able to see quite a lot of your beautiful country and it's an amazing country. I've also seen the tragic effects of the war, an inexcusable war, an absolutely inexcusable and unnecessary war." Mr Zelensky welcomed the UK's "decisive and significant support" for his country and urged other Western allies to intensify the pressure on Moscow. "We have to exert pressure in the form of sanctions. It is time to impose a complete embargo on Russian energy resources. They should increase the amount of weapons being supplied," he said. In a Facebook post, Andriy Sybiha, deputy head of the Ukrainian president's office, said: "The UK is the leader in defence support for Ukraine. The leader in the anti-war coalition. The leader in sanctions against the Russian aggressor." European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and the EU's foreign policy chief Josep Borrell both made visits to Ukraine for talks with President Zelensky on Friday, and Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer met him in Kyiv on Saturday. But Mr Johnson is the first member of a G7 country to travel to the Ukrainian capital for talks during the conflict. Mr Zelensky has called on the international community to hold to account Russian forces who carried out the missile strike on Kramatorsk station, which was packed with women and children trying to flee the area. The Kremlin has denied responsibility for the attack. Mr Johnson's visit to Kyiv came the day after the UK announced £100m of weapons for the country. Speaking at a Downing Street press conference on Friday, Mr Johnson said the UK will send additional military equipment including Starstreak anti-aircraft missiles and 800 anti-tank missiles. It followed an appeal from Ukraine for more arms as it prepares for an expected Russian offensive in the east of the country, after Moscow pulled back its forces from around Kyiv. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-61052643

A new eco-friendly centre offering views of Aberdeen's harbour dolphins is opening on Saturday. The Granite City is regarded by experts as one of Europe's best places to see the mammals. The Greyhope Bay Centre at Torry Battery has been several years in the planning. The off-grid facility has been built by converting shipping containers, and is part of a drive to highlight Torry Battery as a visitor destination. The new centre features a cafe and will also serve as a community and education space. Greyhope Bay founder and managing director Fiona McIntyre said the centre offered excellent views of bottlenose dolphins from land. "Opening is a big moment for Greyhope Bay and the team," she said. "It all started with a dream I had for Aberdeen almost 10 years ago to which there was a huge response and to which each milestone was made possible by the belief, shared hope and determination of the Torry and Aberdeen community." Greyhope Bay is a charitable organisation. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-scotland-north-east-orkney-shetland-61022979

There’s not much that can beat spending Sunday evening on the sofa in the company of great biking stories, as you try to ignore the inevitable arrival of another Monday. And to make Sundays even better, the BBC have invested in a bike-laden engineering series called The Speedshop, during which Special Boat Service veteran, Titch Cormack, creates unlikely builds, tells emotionally-charged feelgood stories and had adventures we’d all love to experience. The series is set at Poole’s S-Bomb Vintage Workshop which houses a workshop, café, bar and even hosts live music at weekends. The rustic – and intentionally rusty – venue is the brainchild of 47-year-old Titch, who wanted to fill his life with hobbies once he finished military service. "I joined the Marines when I was 17 and a lot of my friends had motorcycles," Titch says. "I’d never been allowed to have a motorbike because my parents said it was too dangerous... so I thought I’d do the safe thing and join the Royal Marines instead." Titch passed his bike test while in the Marines and loved ploughing around on an old Suzuki GSF600. "I started racing off-road. I did motocross and enduro for the Royal Marines team, then got poached onto the road racing team and raced in 600s ThunderSport which took me towards the end of my career with the military. "But the experience taught me to fix my own bikes and engines as I was never formally taught how to do it. I just worked it out and had a couple of really good friends who would help me out, let me tinker and fix stuff. "I thought if I can make a living doing what I do at weekends, then I’ll do it... hence this place." After leaving the military in 2016, Titch took three months off to put his feet up, but his gut was still telling him to open a café and workshop. "The inspiration came from the States. There were loads of these cool motorcycle workshops with cafés and bars. Our counterparts, the US SEAL teams, had their own and they were wicked places to hang out. "We didn’t have anything like that," he said. "So I wanted to try to do something similar." On the hunt for a venue, Titch struggled to find anything that served his vision until he was pointed to the harbour-side location by a friend. "This place was absolutely derelict. Big holes in the roof and everything. It was an old shellfish processing plant. It was pretty bad, but I thought it was a brilliant space." With cheap rent and a lot to do, Titch thought he’d revamp the space in six weeks, but that quickly spiralled out to eight months. He found a cast iron window, fetched doors out of skips and built all the structures inside. Now there’s a workshop, storeroom, toilet, crash pad as well as a café and bar and is open to the public at weekends. "Gradually people warmed to it. What was really cool was when my mum came down after I spent eight months building, and she was like: ‘Are you not going to paint all this? It’s all rusty?’ "I was like ‘mum; it’s meant to be rusty’ – she didn’t have a clue! She thought I’d built Starbucks or something. It took her a couple of days, but then she got it in the end," Titch laughs. The start of The Speedshop Titch was focused on building custom bikes and keeping the café open. But in the background an old friend called Gaz Humphries met BBC producer Grant Wardrop while filming in America, and Grant’s interest was piqued when he saw a video of Titch and the team on social media. "They sent me a message and asked if I’d be interested in a chat when they got back to the UK," recalls Titch, "and I said, ‘let’s give it a go!’ "We made a 10-minute film as a little taster, then they wanted to do a pilot on the back of that." The pilot episode featured a bike build for Chris Dugan, an amputee soldier, which was then ridden over the Alps. Chris has now got a ride with the True Heroes race team, so he’s currently training up with the guys and I think next season he’s going to make his debut. He was in a real low place when I was chatting to him initially," reflects Titch. "He’d just lost the leg and was not having a great time. He was a good kid to do something for. The show lifted him quite a lot and that was really the main intention of it all. Off the back of that he’s in a really good space now - it’s a massive success story." The excitement from the pilot ebbed away as lockdown put a halt to proceedings and Titch didn’t hear from the BBC for a year – but then came the commission to do a series. "I think that whole process took three to four years," Titch says. "But we eventually got there, and the first three episodes have gone out!" The series has six episodes with the first being dedicated to Toby Gutteridge. Behind the first season Episode one of The Speedshop saw a bespoke sidecar created for Toby, an ex-SAS soldier who became paralysed and needs a ventilator after being shot in the neck. But the project wasn’t just for the TV show. Toby and Titch had been talking about the project before the show was on the cards. "We had chatted about how to get Tobes out on a bike. The biggest hurdle we had was getting permissions from the ventilator manufacturer to say it can be done," says Titch. "No one wants to be liable," explains Toby. "Their automatic answer was ‘no’." But not everything went smoothly with the build. A faulty neutral switch took 24 hours to find and sort out, fibreglass had to be fixed after some of the cuts went wrong and long nights became part of the routine. "We’d said after the pilot that we couldn’t do the lengths of overnights that we did," says Titch. "We did 72 hours straight through on the pilot and got to the point where we were two steps forward, one step back because we were making mistakes, we were that tired. We were just trying to get the bike ready to deliver to Chris. "There was a lass who worked on Gas Monkey who said that they never do overnighters, even if they say they do! I think that’s the thing that sets us aside from other build shows," Titch says, "it’s real." ‘This one’s personal’ The episode airing on Sunday, April 10 is very close to Titch’s heart, as he divulged over a brew. "Episode four is very personal to me because I got the opportunity to follow what my grandfather did. He was my inspiration to join the Marines and join the forces in the first place," explains Titch. "He was with 45 Commando during World War Two and landed at Sword Beach on D-day. So, I’ve built a bike specifically to go and do the same trip he did. I even have his map from D-day that he drew on himself. He marked their route and I wanted to follow it as closely as I could. "For me it was a fantastic journey and there is a moment at the end where I was trying to find a location and I found it," he teased. "It was very cool." So what’s next? Since getting his name and face on television, Titch has been approached to do several things on the box. "There’s plenty in the pipeline!" he beams. Although the BBC haven’t yet told Titch whether there is going to be a season two for The Speedshop, he has already planned out a series in his head. "We’ve emphasised to them that we really could have do with having an idea soon so we could do all the prep work needed! We want to do quite a few events with the focus of doing things that everybody can do. I want to do all the little local events like I do in episode five," Titch says. "I love it." Ex-Special Forces custom bike builder gets BBC show First published: 04 January 2020 by Ben Clarke A new BBC 2 TV programme follows custom bike builder, Titch Cormack, as he attempts to create an off-roader with a difference. The bike is for his customer Chris, a Parachute Regiment soldier who recently had his right leg amputated. Chris wants to use the bike to cross the Alps between France and Italy off-road, a trip Titch will try and help to make happen drawing on his 10 years of experience as a mobility expert in the Special Forces. Titch sets about modifying a Honda FX650 Vigor to suit Chris’s needs with the help of his team; Billy, a mechanic and ex-Tank Regiment Commander, who suffered life changing injuries following an IED explosion in Afghanistan and Martin, a paint and fibreglass specialist. The build runs into plenty of problems long before the team get to the Alps, something they need to do before the snow hits. "For Chris, it’s more than just a motorcycle, it facilitates him getting back to his old self," says Titch. "It’s a big thing for him and I think that the guys realise that and that’s why they’ve put in the effort." The show is called The Speedshop and will air on Sunday, January 12 at 8pm on BBC 2. https://www.motorcyclenews.com/news/2020/january/speedshop-tv-show/

Ready for an oddly satisfying way to deep-clean your laundry? Laundry stripping is a method of washing clothes, sheets and towels that allows you to actually see all the dirt and grime that's hanging out on your supposedly clean linens. It's kind of gross; but also totally gratifying when you're done, knowing your laundry is probably the cleanest it has ever been. Here's everything you need to know about laundry stripping—and how to DIY. What is laundry stripping? Laundry stripping is essentially a soaking method meant to deep-clean your laundry. The soak is done in a Borax solution that removes built-up residue from detergent, hard water, body oils and fabric softener. What makes it so satisfying (but also might leave you slightly horrified) is that often the soaking water turns brown or gray from all the gunk that is "stripped" away from your linens! (Here's how to tell if you're using too much laundry detergent.) How to strip your laundry You'll need: Borax Washing soda (sodium carbonate) Laundry detergent Bathtub (or large bucket) Step 1: Make the soaking bath Gallery: 30 Spots to Never, Ever Skip When Spring Cleaning (Reader's Digest Canada) THE UNDERSIDE OF CHAIRS AND TABLES You're probably not going to find gum stuck under there (at least we hope not!) but the underside of tables and chairs still deserve some attention when spring cleaning. "This is an often overlooked spot that gets grimy and gross as people pull their chairs up to the table with their dirty hands," says professional organizer, Jamie Novak, author of Keep This, Toss That. If you have young children, you have an additional reason to clean: Chances are there are probably bits of food and streaks of ketchup on the underside of the table. First, you'll need a vessel large enough to soak the linens you want to strip. We recommend using the bathtub, but you could also use a large bucket or bin. Fill the bathtub with hot water. Add one part Borax, one part washing soda and two parts laundry detergent. For a bathtub, we recommend ¼ cup Borax, ¼ cup washing soda and 1/2 cup detergent. Gently stir the water to dissolve the powders. Step 2: Soak the linens Add clean laundry to the water, completely submerging it. Let everything soak about four to five hours, or until the water is cool. Stir the water and swish the laundry around occasionally; the movement helps to remove the dirt and grime from the fabric. Step 3: Rinse Remove the laundry from the bathtub and drain the water. (Don't forget to admire the gross murky brown colour!) Now run the laundry through the washing machine, using a rinse cycle without detergent. Dry the laundry as you normally would; then enjoy your crisp, super-clean linens! When you should (and should not!) use laundry stripping Laundry stripping is great for sheets and towels because those items are used frequently and can easily collect a buildup of body oils and detergents. If your towels feel less absorbent than usual, and your sheets look a little dingy, it might be time to try your hand at laundry stripping. Be careful with colourful linens, because laundry stripping can cause dyes to run. You'll also want to avoid delicate linens like lace or embroidered pieces. Also, clothing isn't a great candidate for stripping. Remember, laundry stripping requires hot water; so keep that in mind and check care label tags before you get started. Next, find out the laundry mistakes you've been making—and what to do instead! A "real embargo" on Russian energy by Western countries could stop war in Ukraine, President Putin's former chief economic adviser has suggested. Dr Andrei Illarionov said Russia "did not take seriously" other countries' threats to reduce their energy usage. Despite trying to reduce its reliance on Russian sources, Europe is continuing to buy oil and gas. Last year, soaring prices meant oil and gas revenues accounted for 36% of Russia's government spending. Much of that income comes from the European Union, which imports about 40% of its gas and 27% of its oil from Russia. This week, its top diplomat Josep Borrell said "a billion [euros] is what we pay Putin every day for the energy he supplies us". Dr Illarionov said if Western countries "would try to implement a real embargo on oil and gas exports from Russia... I would bet that probably within a month or two, Russian military operations in Ukraine, probably will be ceased, will be stopped". "It's one of the very effective instruments still in the possession of the Western countries," he added. While the oil and gas trade has continued during the conflict, widespread sanctions mean that a lot of other economic activity has stopped, many foreign companies have pulled out and exports have been disrupted. One recent survey by Russia's own central bank even forecasts the economy will shrink by 8% this year, while the International Institute of Finance says it could fall by as much as 15%. Dr Illarionov suggested that President Putin was prepared to endure a hit to the economy that shows where his priorities lie. "His territorial ambitions, his imperial ambitions, are much more important than anything else, including the livelihood of the Russian po[CENSORED]tion and of the financial situation in the country... even the financial state of the his government," he said. Jobs under threat Last week, amid tensions with Europe over how gas would be paid for, President Putin said that "key indicators" of the health of the Russian economy include the "creation of jobs, the reduction of poverty and inequality, the improvement of the quality of life of people, the availability of goods and services". World Bank figures suggest that almost 20 million Russians live in poverty. President Putin has, in recent years, pledged to halve that number. Now Dr Illarionov said "we'll see probably doubling the number of those people, maybe even tripling" as the economy struggles. The Moscow-based think tank, the Centre for Strategic Research, estimated two million jobs could be lost this year as the unemployment rate rises from a record low. Those concerns are shared by Vladimir Milov, who is a former Russian deputy energy minister, but is now part of Alexei Navalny's Russia of the Future opposition party. "Many people are concerned about losing their jobs, I think it's just that the majority does not really realise the severity of the economic situation," he said. Inflation, which has already risen to 15.7% because of the war, means people might stop spending money on things such as gyms and meals in restaurants and "that's bad news for a lot of small businesses", said Mr Milov. Some basic food items such as sugar, onions and cabbages have risen in price by more than 40% since the start of this year. Mr Milov said any noticeable falls in living standards would help his party's cause as an opposition. "We have been explaining to people all along [that] Putin's policy would lead Russia into a catastrophe, including a complete social and economic catastrophe, including [a] deterioration of living standards that we haven't seen in decades," he said. "I have to say that comes at an extremely high price. We would prefer not to see what is happening today." However Mr Milov, who fled to Lithuania last year, thinks it will take time for falling living standards to translate to political change. "Russia is a country with big inertia in society, and a lot of fear instigated by the authorities. Specifically people really are very much afraid of protesting because right now they can end up in jail for a long, long time for doing that". He added: "But I would say [that within a] few months [of] real deep economic trouble, that we haven't seen in 30 years, it will change the mood of the society. More people will start to speak out loudly." President Putin's former adviser Dr Andrei Illarionov, who now lives in the United States, said a change of government is inevitable "sooner or later". He said "it is absolutely impossible to have any positive future for Russia, with the current political regime". Under President Putin, he suggested, "there is no way that country might be integrated back into the international relations, in the world economy". You can watch Dr Andrei Illarionov and Vladimir Milov's interviews on Talking Business with Aaron Heslehurst this weekend. https://www.bbc.com/news/business-61040424

Loop components are now live in Outlook After being announced at Microsoft Ignite(opens in new tab) last year, Loop components are now rolling out in Microsoft Outlook(opens in new tab). For those unfamiliar, Microsoft Loop(opens in new tab) is a new app that combines a powerful and flexible canvas with portable components that move freely and stay in sync across the software giant's apps. It is made up of three elements in the form of Loop components, Loop pages and Loop workspaces. While Loop pages are flexible canvases where users can organize all of their Loop components in one place and Loop workspaces are shared spaces that allow teams to see and group everything important to a project, Loop components are an evolution of Fluid components(opens in new tab) that help users collaborate and get things done in chats, emails, meetings and documents. Now Microsoft Outlook users will be able to leverage the power of Loop components when using the company’s email service(opens in new tab). Loop components in Outlook According to a new post(opens in new tab) in the Microsoft 365(opens in new tab) roadmap, Loop components are now rolling out in Microsoft Outlook and these live, interactive objects can be embedded in email messages to provide real-time collaboration. In a support document(opens in new tab), Microsoft highlights several of its Loop components that users can add to emails in Outlook or even messages in Microsoft Teams(opens in new tab). These include bulleted lists, checklists, numbered lists, paragraphs, tables, task lists and more. One of the nice things about Loop components is that they are automatically saved to OneDrive(opens in new tab) so that you’ll be able to easily find and use them again later. With the addition of Loop components in Outlook, emails will become much more fluid as they’ll even be able to update themselves after being sent. Say you add a list of follow-up tasks to an email, collaborators can check off items as they complete them and all of the changes made to the Loop component will be reflected in the original email. This way users don’t have to waste time sending emails back and forth to one another once a task has been completed. We’ll likely hear more from Microsoft regarding Loop components once Microsoft 365 users get a chance to test them out for themselves. https://www.techradar.com/news/microsoft-outlook-gets-emails-that-update-themselves-after-you-send-them

Want to turn your FPS into a turn-by-turn strategy? AMD’s Radeon RX 6400 gives you a chance! When AMD introduced its Navi 24 graphics processing unit and Radeon RX 6400 and 6500 XT graphics cards on their base, it said that the former would only be available to OEMs. Then in March, a rumor emerged that AMD was looking forward to launching Radeon RX 6400 into the channel and retail markets. While there are no formal confirmations that the Radeon RX 6400 is indeed heading to retail, evidence mounts that Asus, ASRock, Gigabyte, and MSI are all prepping retail Radeon RX 6400. A Bulgarian retailer is listing(opens in new tab) the Asus Dual Radeon RX 6400 4G (Dual-RX6400-4G) graphics card for 562.20 Bulgarian Levs ($260 without VAT). As the name suggests, the card carries 4GB of memory and has a dual-fan cooling system (which is typically two slots wide). Unfortunately, BestPC.bg does not have this card in stock and does not even publish a picture of this product, so we may only wonder when (and if) Asus starts selling this device. Meanwhile, since there is a part number, it is likely that Asus is indeed offering the card to its partners. ASRock's Radeon RX 6400 Challenger ITX was probably the first custom RX 6400 board to leak in early February in a filing with the filing in the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) customs database. Yet, the board has not been listed by any retailer so far. Gigabyte is apparently prepping its Radeon RX 6400 Eagle graphics card with 4GB of memory onboard, according to a listing with the South Korean National Radio Research Agency (RRA) that certifies hardware sold in the country, whichVideoCardz discovered. Furthermore, the board carries the GV-R64EAGLE-4GD part number, which indicates that this is indeed a Radeon RX 6400 with an additional 'Eagle' moniker. The moniker obviously points that the board has some a feature that differentiates it from a plain OEM-oriented board, though we can only guess what this feature is. For example, it might be a more sophisticated cooling system (like the one used on Gigabyte's Radeon RX 6500 XT Eagle) or increased clocks. In any case, OEMs do not need such differentiators, so the board is aimed at channel/retail market. MSI has quietly started selling its Radeon RX 6400 Aero ITX graphics card based on a cut-down version of AMD's Navi 24 GPU in Singapore. The device fits into Mini-ITX and other compact systems (except low-profile ones) that can house a dual-slot board and it does not require any additional power connectors. MSI's Radeon RX 6400 Aero ITX graphics card carries 4GB of GDDR6 memory with a 64-bit interface and has two display outputs: a DisplayPort 1.4 and an HDMI 2.0. The bard features a typical Mini-ITX design, but comes with a dual-slot single-fan cooling system that might prevent its installation into some smaller chassis. Meanwhile, AMD's Radeon RX 6400 does not require external power. As a result, the graphics card may be helpful for upgrades or to repair outdated systems from OEMs that tend to use power supplies without any auxiliary PCIe power connectors. The MSI Radeon RX 6400 Aero ITX card is currently available for S$349 (about $240 without VAT) from a retailer in Kim Hoe Centre, according to a listing at Carousell.sg(opens in new tab), which was discovered by @momomo_us(opens in new tab). While it is good to have one more modern Mini-ITX graphics board on the market, perhaps a more important part is that the card comes in a retail box and features a proprietary cooling system with MSI branding. It leaves no doubt that the product is intended for the retail market. Ultra Low-End for Desktops AMD officially confirmed that it designed the Navi 24 GPU primarily for laptops running its Ryzen 6000-series processors as it wasn't for a gaming GPU for desktops. Furthermore, the lack of video encoding support and AV1 decoding support makes the GPU unattractive to media enthusiasts. Meanwhile, AMD's Radeon RX 6500 XT is a low-end gaming solution and requires an eight-pin power connector, which dramatically reduces its compatibility with inexpensive systems that sometimes lack additional power connectors. Yet such systems exist and sometimes need a minor upgrade, or just a graphics adapter, so offering a Radeon RX 6400 for this market segment makes sense for AMD. Potential buyers should keep in mind that AMD's Radeon RX 6400 is not a gaming solution, so it does not even make much sense to compare its performance to three to five-year-old entry-level GPUs. This card also has only two display outputs and lacks some critical media capabilities (like all Navi 24-based solutions). The main advantage of AMD's Radeon RX 6400 over outdated graphics boards is ongoing driver support that will last for several years down the road. https://www.tomshardware.com/news/amds-radeon-rx-6400-gpus-are-coming-to-a-shelf-near-you

The new Eat Egg emote looks crunchy. Mrhappy1227, a po[CENSORED]r Final Fantasy 14 creator, has a point. The MMO is soon getting a new Eat Egg emote—an emote that looks impractical, maybe even disturbing, if you've never considered the possibility someone could eat an egg wrong. All we have to go on right now is a screenshot of a Lalafell holding what looks like a hardboiled egg with half of its shell left on. What happens next is anyone's guess, but if the animation for eating a regular egg is any indication, that entire thing is going inside their mouth, shell and all. The emote will be available as part of Final Fantasy 14's Easter-themed Hatching-tide(opens in new tab) event that goes live on April 13. Like other holiday events, you finish a few quests and get rewards, like mounts, clothing, and items to put in your house. This year Eat Egg is the main attraction, but the screenshot has many players questioning how it works. Mrhappy1227, who recently made a video(opens in new tab) about the event, thinks it's a poor way to eat a hardboiled egg. He demonstrates why in the video, holding an egg just as the Lalafell does and explaining how the majority of the egg would be hard to get to (with your mouth) without running into the shell. And I think we can all agree that you don't want to eat the shell. If the egg yolk isn't right on the inside—maybe it's too thick of a white—then you can't even reach the yolk and that's like the best part of a hardboiled egg," Mrhappy1227 said, holding the half-covered egg in his hand as evidence. Mrhappy1227 took this argument to Twitter(opens in new tab). The replies are largely in agreement, but a few people think the egg could be softboiled, which would change everything. A softboiled egg requires the shell as a cup: otherwise you'll have loose egg all over your hands. But the egg in the screenshot has a solid shape, or as solid as you can get with a low poly egg that wasn't built for this level of scrutiny. If it's softboiled, then there should be a spoon or something in their other hand. There have been other suggestions for how to correct Eat Egg, but I cannot abide by them. "Easy, just pull enough of the shell back to poke a straw in," Toxophilala(opens in new tab) wrote in a reply to Mrhappy1227. I'm sorry toxophilala, this says more about your understanding of how hardboiled eggs work than how this emote works. I still think the shell is secondary, like the peel of an apple, and that the emote will make your character eat the whole thing. An extra crunch of protein couldn't hurt. I watched Ross O'Donovan(opens in new tab)—for whom this emote may be a reference—eat thousands of eggs like that on his stream. Clearly, how the egg emote works is a very important question Final Fantasy 14's Hatching-tide event better answer next week. https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/final-fantasy-14-players-cant-decide-how-to-eat-an-egg/

March's Steam Hardware Survey shows the adoption rate for Windows 11 among Steam users so far. Windows 11 users on Steam are up 1.25% from February, and now account for 16.84% of all users. Windows 10 is still the dominant OS for Steam users with a commanding 74.69%, though it dropped a percentage point since February. For some historical context, 36.97% of Steam users were using Windows 10 seven months after its launch back in 2016. That's more than half the adoption rate from folks going from Windows 7 to Windows 10 then Windows 10 to Windows 11. In case you're wondering how many Linux and MacOS users are hanging around: as of March, total MacOS users sit around 2.43% and Linux remains at a steady 1%. On the graphics card front, Nvidia GPUs make up 77.13% of what Steam users are playing on, with AMD in second place with 14.15% and Intel in third at 8.52%. The Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 is the most commonly used GPU among Steam users at 8.18%, while our favorite GPU, the RTX 3080, is only being used by 1.24% of folks on Steam. Our recommendation was to wait to upgrade to Windows 11 when we reviewed it last year, and that's still our advice for now—though we'll probably change our tune once we see the Windows 11 version of DirectStorage in action. https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/pc-gamers-upgraded-to-windows-11-at-half-the-rate-of-windows-10-steam-hardware-survey-shows/

A family-run zoo is to change its name in order for it to be associated with the county it sits in. Paradise Wildlife Park in Broxbourne will be called Hertfordshire Zoo from its 40th anniversary in April 2024. Aaron Whitnall, one of the brothers who run it, said "we are a proud Hertfordshire family and business and think the new name will reflect that". "It is also a well-renowned and affluent county so we want to align the zoo with that name," he added. Three brothers - Aaron, Tyler and Cameron - help run the wildlife park, which has about 800 animals and sits on land bought by their grandfather in the early 1980s. Before it was acquired by Peter Sampson, it was called Broxbourne Zoo and, with poor animal facilities, was often considered to be one of the worst zoos in the country. The Sampson family have turned things around, first as Paradise Woodland Zoo and then as the wildlife park. Mr Whitnall said they want to continue that development. "We think the new name will enhance what we do, not just on the site but around the world as well," he said. "Also, people understand more what a zoo is, rather than a wildlife park. "We want to continue the development of the site, we want to show the world what a good zoo does and raise awareness that we exist and are something the people of Hertfordshire can be proud of." Despite a difficult two years of lockdowns and closures, the park has still managed to introduce new habitats such as Land of the Tigers and Sun Bear Heights. The brothers are also in the middle of filming a second series of CBBC programme One Zoo Three, which chronicles the lives of the trio, who both live and work at the zoo. Mr Whitnall said they have even more "exciting plans" for the future and think the 40th anniversary is "the perfect time for a new chapter". https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-beds-bucks-herts-60979717

(CNN)The State Department's new cybersecurity bureau formally launched on Monday in an effort to make digital rights issues an intrinsic part of US foreign policy at a time when Russia and China are increasingly trying to put their own authoritarian stamp on the internet. The move essentially reshapes and greatly expands a bureaucratic structure, with a high-ranking cyber diplomat, that the Trump administration had effectively downgraded in the pursuit of cutting red tape. The new bureau is aimed at putting more diplomatic personnel and expertise toward State Department priorities such as shaping norms of responsible government behavior in cyberspace and helping US allies bolster their own cybersecurity programs. As what's happening in Ukraine and Russia illustrates, we're in a contest over the rules, infrastructure, and standards that will define our digital future," Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in prepared remarks describing the role of the new Bureau of Cyberspace and Digital Policy. "Democracies must answer together the question of whether universal rights and democratic values will be at the center of our digital lives -- and whether digital technologies deliver real benefits in people's lives," Blinken said. Though US diplomats have continued to pursue cyber issues on a number of fronts, critics said then-Secretary of State Rex Tillerson's 2017 move to effectively downgrade the stature of the cybersecurity office within the department signaled to the world American disinterest in cyberspace. Then-Secretary of State Mike Pompeo proposed a new cybersecurity bureau in the waning days of the Trump administration, but the initiative never got off the ground. Cybersecurity issues have only gotten more pressing in the years since. The iPhones of about a dozen State Department employees serving in Africa were hacked with spyware developed by Israeli technology firm NSO Group, CNN reported in December. The Biden administration has pledged to crack down on the use of such spyware, saying it has been used to violate human rights around the world. The new cyberbureau adds more personnel across multiple cyber-related issues, such as digital freedom and cybersecurity technologies, than existed under previous cybersecurity offices at the State Department. State Department officials said Monday that they expect to have 100 personnel staff the bureau by the end of the year. "It's an evolution of the centrality of these issues for foreign policy to move from an office that was small into an institutionalized bureau within the department," a State Department official told CNN. Jennifer Bachus, a career diplomat, will lead the new bureau on an interim basis until the Biden administration nominates a Senate-confirmed "ambassador-at-large" to take the job, according to the State Department. "I will work hard to make sure the bureau is appropriately structured and staffed for its mission: to elevate cyber and digital diplomacy globally, and to prioritize this work here in Washington and at our embassies and consulates," Bachus, who just returned from a diplomatic tour in the Czech Republic, told State Department colleagues on Monday. For at least the first year of its existence, the bureau will report directly to the deputy secretary of State. "We want to make sure that it has priority attention from the senior most officials in this building," a State Department spokesperson said in an interview. Christopher Painter, who was the top cyber diplomat at the State Department until 2017, said the reinstatement of a top cybersecurity bureau could give the department more clout in interagency discussions about high-profile cyber issues. "Where we talk about everything from economic tools that Treasury may be using to cyber tools that DOD [Department of Defense] may be using, it's important to have that diplomatic voice in there," Painter told CNN. This story has been updated with additional details. https://edition.cnn.com/2022/04/04/politics/state-department-cyber-bureau/index.html

Few had more fun with fashion at last night’s Grammys than Lil Nas X. From his Baroque, pearl-encrusted look for the red carpet to the crystal-studded crop top he wore on stage with Jack Harlow, he pulled out a parade of Balmain looks each bolder than the next. Ahead of the big night, when French designer Olivier Rousteing was designing the artist’s custom creations, he tells Vogue he instantly knew that the artist would be game for these multiple showstopping moments (there were in fact seven outfit changes in total). “Lil Nas X is an incredible inspiration for the future generation,” says Rousteing. “He's clearly pushing boundaries not only in music, but in fashion.” For Lil Nas X’s fiery Grammys wardrobe (which was styled by Hodo Musa), Rousteing says he wanted to celebrate his fearless approach to style, while also paying homage to some of Balmain’ most iconic designs under his tenure. “What I loved about the looks that I created for him is that [it represents] different eras of the house, and my career at Balmain for the last 10 years,” says Rousteing. The conversations first began with Lil Nas X’s red carpet look, which was an iteration of a dress that Rousteing showed back in his fall 2012 collection (his first womenswear offering). The embroidered butterflies and pearls felt fresh on the star, especially in the new, reworked jacket-and-pants silhouette. “It was inspired by the Fabergé egg that Richard Burton once gave Elizabeth Taylor,” says Rousteing. “We recreated it with different colors. I loved the idea of bringing womenswear into the menswear world. We also customized the 12-centimeter platform shoes.” For Lil Nas X’s several performance looks that followed—he performed a medley of his hits including “Industry Baby,” “Call Me By Your Name,” and “Dead Right Now”—Rousteing again nodded to some of Balmain’s past designs. For the “Dead Right Now” performance, Nas wore a dramatic black cape covered in crystals that formed Balmain’s geometric “Labyrinth” pattern, a graphic motif first introduced by Pierre Balmain over 50 years ago. For the “Industry Baby” set, he also wore Balmain’s Vest Hussard military-style jacket, a signature piece of the house. “We gave a new twist to a signature Balmain design, relying again on embroidered crystals,” says Rousteing. “The twenty dancers also wore versions of that same jacket, along with crystal-embellished transparent tank tops and black pants.” (Jack Harlow’s structural black suit, meanwhile, was also by Balmain.) After Lil Nas’s performances on the Grammys stage, there were a few more stellar looks that we didn’t catch a glimpse of on TV. During the show, the rapper wore a gold, armor-style vest from Balmain’s fall 2022 collection. For the Grammys after-party, he then slipped into a white vested look from fall 2022. Rousteing says dressing the megawatt star in so many different pieces was the ultimate dream collaboration—more is more! “Fashion wise, he is really clear on what he likes,” says the designer. “He is obsessed with details and is a perfectionist. This is obviously a dream to work with, because he’s really paying attention to the craftsmanship. He brings couture to the stage and red carpet in such a modern way.” Rousteing hopes there will be many more fabulous fashion moments to come between himself and Lil Nas X. “He’s obviously an incredible talent that will stay,” says Rousteing. “and he will bring a new history to the music industry.” Below, a closer look at all of Lil Nas X’s Balmain looks at the Grammys. https://www.msn.com/en-us/lifestyle/lifestyle-buzz/lil-nas-x-wore-seven-theatrical-balmain-looks-at-the-grammys/ss-AAVQr5q
