. https://www.softzone.es/noticias/streaming/prime-video-baja-calidad-usuario-free/

Two senior British judges have resigned from Hong Kong’s highest court, with one citing “the political situation” in the city. The departure of Lords Lawrence Collins and Jonathan Sumption comes a week after a landmark case where 14 democracy activists were convicted of subversion. The former UK Supreme Court justices were two of 10 overseas judges who sit on the city's Court of Final Appeal - a legacy holdover of Hong Kong's past as a British colony. Legal experts and Western governments have warned that rule of law is at risk in Hong Kong, after China imposed security laws which critics say silence dissent. But Hong Kong’s government denies this and claims the city is still a top jurisdiction. On Thursday, Lord Collins, who had sat on the court since 2012, said he was resigning “because of the political situation in Hong Kong”. “But I continue to have the fullest confidence in the court and the total independence of its members,” he said in a statement to media. Lord Sumption did not issue a statement, Reuters news agency reported. The BBC has sought comment from both judges. Their departure follows that of three other high-profile Western judges in recent years. Hong Kong's leader John Lee expressed regret over the judges' resignations, but highlighted Lord Collins' comments on the remaining judges' independence. He also defended the city's security laws saying Hong Kong had "transitioned from chaos to order". "That did not change the human rights and freedoms enjoyed by citizens in accordance with the law. Nor did it change the courts’ exercise of independent judicial power, free from any interference” he said. How do Hong Kong courts work and why is there concern? Currently there are eight overseas judges sitting on Hong Kong's top court - from the UK, Australia and Canada. Typically, a bench for an appeal case would consist of the chief justice, three Hong Kong judges and a foreign judge. In this role as "non-permanent" appointees, they are paid up to £40,000 according to reports. The Court of Final Appeal has operated this way since the UK handed the territory back to China in 1997. It was a considered a bulwark protection to help uphold the British-style common law legal system and Hong Kong's continuation of this elevated its stature as a global financial hub. International firms had more faith in its legal system than that of mainland China. But critics say this system has been damaged after Beijing’s crackdown on the city following widespread pro-democracy demonstrations in 2019. Experts point to the impact of two national security laws (NSL) – the first enacted in 2020 and the second in March – as having overridden rights and freedoms otherwise protected under the city’s constitutional Basic Law. In the past few years, hundreds of people have been arrested under NSL and been denied legal rights typically afforded to those facing trial. For example, most NSL defendants in Hong Kong have been denied bail and many have been subjected to lengthy pre-trial detention. In the Hong Kong 47 case verdict last week, some defendants were held for more than two years before their trial began. In 2020, the year the NSL came in, veteran Australian judge James Spigelman resigned from the Court of Final Appeal citing concerns about the sweeping scope of the law. Then in 2022, serving UK Supreme Court justices Robert Reed and Patrick Hodge followed suit following concerns raised by the British government. Lord Reed said he agreed with the government that serving members of the UK’s Supreme Court could not continue to sit on Hong Kong's court without appearing to endorse a government that had “departed from values of political freedom, and freedom of expression”. Since then the remaining foreign judges have faced growing pressure to recuse themselves, with rights groups and Western governments including the US, UK, EU members and Australia raising concerns about Hong Kong’s legal system. In 2022, when the sitting UK Supreme Court judges cut ties – the remaining foreign judges on the CFA issued a statement defending their position to remain. The judges at the time – including Lords Collins and Sumption – said they believed their “continued participation” would be “in the interest of the people of Hong Kong”. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c722094n135o

Volkswagen has announced that the refreshed 2025 Golf R will be revealed on June 26. Previous teaser photos show similar styling updates to the 2025 Golf GTI. The Golf R may also gain more power, improving up on the current 315-hp output. Earlier this year, Volkswagen unveiled the 2025 Volkswagen Golf GTI, sharpening the styling while boosting the hatchback's output and upgrading the cabin with a new 12.9-inch touchscreen. Volkswagen also teased a refreshed Golf R, showing off a camouflaged prototype, and now the automaker has announced that the Golf R will be revealed on June 26th. The accompanying teaser image for the reveal date announcement doesn't reveal much, showing the illuminated headlights connected by an LED light bar and a light-up Volkswagen logo. The headlights look similar to the updated units found on the new GTI, and the previously released photos also showed similarly restyled taillights. Larger openings in the front bumper work to cool the engine and will give the R an assertive appearance, and the R also sports a rear spoiler. We expect the cabin to receive the same upgrades as the GTI, gaining the new screen, revised infotainment, and real buttons on the steering wheel instead of the frustrating haptic touch-sensitive controls on the outgoing car. Like the GTI, the Golf R may also get extra power, with the turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four currently pumping out 315 horsepower. Sadly, Volkswagen has ditched the manual transmission following the 2024 model year, so the 2025 Golf R will be exclusively offered with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a61039327/2025-volkswagen-golf-r-reveal-date/

The dog looks up at Mark with pitiful eyes, as if he was abandoned. Mark decides to walk with the dog. As they walk, the dog barks at a bush nearby. Mark was wary of what he might find in the bushes. He was sure that it was something dangerous, which was why the animal had been so aggressive. As he neared the bush, he caught a glimpse of what was inside and quickly ripped it open. He was surprised at first the he understood why the dog brought him to the bush. The snowfall had caused a great deal of disruption to the city, and Mark had been fortunate enough to have his work within walking distance. No one should be out in the cold, yet Mark was about to encounter an unfortunate creature that had been out. It was late afternoon and he was coming home from work. The wind was really cold and he was in a lot of pain. He hadn’t been out in a while and was thinking about calling in sick for the week. Just as he was about to hide behind a big tree, he saw something move in the snow – it was still too far away for him to make out what it was, but it was definitely not a person. It wasn’t until it came closer that he realized it was a small dog, and his heart sank. https://thefamilybreeze.com/categories/en/snow-dog/2/

It is almost 12 months since Jack Grealish stood at the front of the Manchester City bus in the pouring rain, arms out, top off, taking in the adulation of the fans who turned out to hail their Treble-winning heroes. Grealish was the star of the show, taking to the microphone as he stood with his team-mates on stage to admit he hadn’t slept for 24 hours, in the gap between conquering Europe in Istanbul and getting soaked in front of thousands in Manchester. It was entertaining to see Kalvin Phillips pour liquid from a bottle straight into his mouth, Gazza-style, as the party began. Grealish had earned this frivolity. As City closed in on a historic Treble, the 28-year-old, who became the most expensive player in English football history when City signed him from Aston Villa for £100m in 2021, had played a central role. He had started the crucial Premier League game against Arsenal on 28 April, played every minute as City destroyed Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-final, 89 out of 90 minutes in the FA Cup final success against Manchester United and finally, the entire match as City beat Inter Milan to lift the Champions League for the first time. Grealish was at the top of his game, justifying City's spend on him and why coaches at Manchester United had wanted the England international themselves. Grealish was centre stage in another City parade last month, almost tripping up at the front of the bus, which could have had disastrous consequences. Yet somehow, it doesn’t seem quite so amusing - not now that Grealish has missed out on selection for the Euros, to the benefit of West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen and young trio Cole Palmer, Anthony Gordon and Eberechi Eze. It is possibly no surprise - if City boss Pep Guardiola wasn’t picking Grealish, why should England manager Gareth Southgate? Grealish featured for 10 minutes for City in May against Wolves, when he came on with his team already 4-1 up. He remained on the bench as City beat Tottenham and West Ham to become the first team in England to win the title in four successive seasons and, when Guardiola needed someone to try to turn the FA Cup final around at Wembley, the attacking players he brought on were Jeremy Doku and Julian Alvarez. Grealish got no further than a warm-up. “Devastated” was Southgate’s assessment of how Grealish was when he gave him the bad news. “Gutted” was long-time team-mate and close friend Declan Rice’s view. Rice sensed something was wrong when he saw Grealish on the phone as he was getting treatment. “He told me over lunch he had been left out,” the Arsenal midfielder told BBC Radio 5 Live. “I am gutted. We are best friends. He is like a brother, someone you sit with every day, go in the hot tub with and now they are gone.” Southgate didn’t want to go into a detailed assessment of what has gone wrong for Grealish this season, stating firmly "it wouldn’t be fair" to talk about the bigger picture. But two aspects did shine through. Firstly, he sensed the shock his choice would create. “It is a tough call. You go over and over and over to try to be sure,” he said. “You deliberate and ask all the questions. We could have gone a different route. All players believe they should be in, that is why they are top players. They are big characters and it is sad to have to deliver the news.” But in the brutal world of football management, Grealish’s massive transfer fee and 36 caps counts for nothing. “Other players had a stronger end to the season,” Southgate added. https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/c2xxpkk3gvxo

What an extraordinary own goal. Like so many of the clearest, most stark stories, two pictures do almost all of the talking. For days, the leaders' teams for the Conservatives and Labour had been telling me things would be different on Wednesday and Thursday of this week. Politics would take a backseat, the focus would be on the D-Day commemorations. It did, and it was. Until that is, it wasn’t. Rishi Sunak’s decision to leave the most photographed, remarked upon and most poignant event in Europe early was always likely to be spotted. And so it was, with the bloke who did his job eight years ago, Lord Cameron, playing 'I’m not a leader' gooseberry in a photo with three actual leaders - the presidents of the United States, and France and the Chancellor of Germany. Rishi Sunak was instead hurtling back to the UK to get stuck back into campaigning - recording a lengthy interview with ITV. We know that because ITV released an extract of it last night, in which the prime minister insisted he hadn’t lied about Labour’s tax plans. Yes, that’s right - the prime minister left D-Day events early in order not to apologise for misleading claims about his opponents, only to apologise for leaving early in the first place. Labour, inevitably, are leaping on this, and pointing out Sir Keir Starmer stayed until the end. And the details matter here because Rishi Sunak was involved in the vast majority of the commemorations. Alongside the King and Sir Keir, Mr Sunak was at the British event at Ver Sur Mer. But he wasn’t at the event later at Omaha Beach. That is where Sir Keir was pictured with the Ukrainian President Zelensky. A Labour source told me: "What does it say about his judgement that he got this one so badly wrong? It should have been blatantly obvious there was only one place to be yesterday," adding: "It’s just more desperate stuff. Shows the chaos they’re in." Of course, they would say that wouldn’t they? But about-turns and unequivocal apologies like this are very rare - particularly in election campaigns. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c4nnz0w41kvo
