  2. If you want to get the most out of your dish soap, this hack is for you. Kristen Donathan, from North Carolina, runs the TikTok account @southernescape, where she shared her hack for making dish soap last "most of the year" by combining dish soap, water and alcohol in a foaming soap dispenser and mixing it gently. "There’s a couple things I don’t go cheap on when I’m grocery shopping and that’s dish soap and Pop-Tarts," Donathan says in the video. "This right here is going to make one big bottle of Dawn dish soap last you probably most of the year." In the clip, she then shows her process for combining the ingredients. "Go to Walmart and get you a foaming hand soap bottle," Donathan says. "You're going to fill it a fourth of the way full of Dawn dish soap, add water, top it off with alcohol. Gently mix it." In the clip, Donathan then says that she typically makes the dish cleaner in a bowl but chose to make it directly in the soap dispenser for her TikTok video. "I absolutely love this and I know for a fact you will too," she says. Since she posted it, the video has been viewed more than 2.3 million times. Donathan told Fox News that her hack of her is actually a DIY version of Dawn's Platinum Powerwash Dish Spray. "I loved it and thought it worked so well, so I just wanted to see if I could replicate that at home," Donathan told Fox. She explained that the alcohol "helps to get up more of the grease from your dishes faster," though people don't have to add the alcohol if they don't want to. She also said the water helps the mixture to work faster, because typically when someone uses dish soap, they have to add water to get suds. For Donathan’s hack, the water - and suds - are there as soon as you pump it from the bottle. LINK: https://www.foxnews.com/lifestyle/tiktok-hack-dish-soap-last-year
  3. Late fashion designer Virgil Abloh designed a concept car with Mercedes-Benz prior to his passing at age 41, it has been revealed With permission of Abloh's family, the automaker has released images of the Project Maybach, which will be privately shown to art students at a Miami museum. The wild, 20-foot-long electric two-seater wears the name of Mercedes-Benz's ultra luxury brand Maybach, but is designed with oversized off-road tires, skid plates, an external roll cage and fully reclining seats. The coupe's epically-long hood is equipped with solar panels and the car fitted with auxiliary adventure lighting normally reserved for a pickup or rally racing car. Abloh developed in partnership with Mercedes head designer Gorden Wagener as a styling exercise and there are no plans to put it into production or even a drivetrain installed, but a previous and similarly outlandish Maybach concept from 2005 called the Exelero was built as a one- off car and sold for a reported $ 8 million. Abloh's connection to Mercedes goes beyond his work by him in the fashion world. He was also close friends with six-time Formula One champion Lewis Hamltion who drives for the Mercedes-AMG F1 team and was often seen wearing clothing designed by Abloh. 4. Dysfunctional and chaotic. This is how a former British official described the handling of the evacuation from Afghanistan after the arrival of the Taliban in the capital, carried out by the UK Foreign Ministry. Raphael Marshall said that the process of choosing who could go on a flight was arbitrary and that thousands of emails from people asking for help were not read. He also claimed that the then British Chancellor, Dominic Raab, was slow to make decisions. In the two weeks after the Taliban took over Kabul, around 15,000 people were evacuated from Afghanistan by the British government. That group included 5,000 British citizens, 8,000 Afghans and 2,000 children. In a statement written as evidence and issued to the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Marshall revealed that up to 150,000 Afghans who were in danger due to their ties to the UK requested to be evacuated, but less than 5% received aid. "It is clear that some of those left behind have been killed by the Taliban," he added. Marshall, who worked as an official in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs until his resignation in September, pointed out that the agency's crisis center was not adequately staffed and that there was also a lack of experience and coordination between his office and the Ministry. defense. Marshall also said that the British chancellor took hours to respond to emails and "did not fully understand the situation." He also said Prime Minister Boris Johnson's order to evacuate the dogs of a charity went against the criteria of the Foreign Ministry and left many people at risk of being killed behind. 5. The scandals do not stop within the British government led by Boris Johnson. Now the questions about the prime minister are followed by a party held at the offices of 10 Downing Street, the seat of government, during December 2020, at a time when strict restrictions were in force due to the covid-19 pandemic. In a report published by the British newspaper Daily Mirror, it is stated that there was a meeting on December 18 inside the government offices with the presence of several officials, when social encounters were prohibited in the country. According to the measures implemented by Johnson himself days before, due to the increase in infections by covid-19 (which at that time was at its most critical point), people who did not live in the same house or who did part of what is called the "social bubble". The Christmas celebrations were mostly canceled. In addition, there were clear rules of social distancing and the mandatory use of masks to avoid contagion. However, according to the Daily Mirror report, which was confirmed by the BBC, the meeting was held in the presence of more than a "dozen" people where those rules of social distancing would not have been respected. This Wednesday a video was released where Johnson administration officials joked about the celebration of the Christmas meeting. Before the video was released, the Johnson administration had denied that the party had taken place. As a consequence, during the control session in Parliament on Wednesday, the prime minister himself announced that he would initiate an investigation on the matter. "I was told at all times that there had been no party, and that the rules had been respected at all times. I have ordered an internal investigation and there will be disciplinary sanctions if found guilty," Johnson said before beginning the session. A few hours later, one of those involved in the video, Allegra Stratton, submitted her resignation as a government adviser. All this happens when Downing Street is immersed in the work of determining the control measures with a view to preventing a wave of infections due to the new omicron variant during the Christmas celebrations this year. 9. Ashleigh Wylie, Network Rail Scotland ecologist, said: “Network Rail is committed to our environment and we manage our lineside with safety, performance and biodiversity in mind. As part of a team of ecologists, we get to offer advice on protected species and habitat management to colleagues working on the railway. “It is great when we see this advice transformed into practical action with the solutions we have advised or developed implemented and working to protect creatures on or around the railway. "We are hopeful that when the hedgehogs waken from their hibernation, the hedgehog highway will provide a safe way for them to move freely to and from the railway." The initiative received support from HogWatch Scotland, which monitors hedgehog numbers and provides courses to educate and raise awareness of the plight of the tiny animals. Eilidh Call, senior project officer with HogWatch Scotland, said: “Hedgehog numbers are in decline and part of the reason is garden fences and walls reduce the amount of land available to them. “By making life a little easier for them by removing the barriers within our control - making holes in or under our garden fences and walls for them to pass through - we are helping them to feed and to find a mate. Remove directly helping to address the decline in numbers. “We are delighted that Network Rail Scotland will be creating hedgehog highways on fencing renewals going forward as this will help these much-loved little creatures access food-rich environments. Small holes have been cut at regular intervals along the bottom of boundary fencing at Lanark to allow the tiny animals to move around the grounds more freely. Railway embankments are said to be a ‘hedgehog haven’, with a mix of trees and vegetation that help provide a safe and food-rich area for the creatures to forage and feed. Network Rail Scotland said it was contacted earlier this year by a concerned local resident who had noticed that hedgehogs were becoming trapped under a boundary fence at the station. A team, which included an in-house ecologist, visited the site to better understand the situation and devise ways to stop the animals from getting trapped. The hedgehog highway has now been marked with signs and an information board has been installed to highlight the reasons behind the work as well as raising the profile of hedgehogs in general. Following the successful trial, Network Rail Scotland said it intends to add a small hedgehog-friendly hole at the base of each back garden fence renewal carried out. It is hoped that overtime this will help to boost the dwindling hedgehog numbers. LINK: https://news.stv.tv/west-central/hedgehog-highway-created-at-railway-station-to-solve-a-prickly-issue
  10. Don't look in the basement. For some people, sharing their hobbies with a new boyfriend or girlfriend can be a nerve-racking experience. One man in Britain, for example, was worried that his new girlfriend might dump him if she found out he was in the process of building the biggest model railway in the country. So, instead of telling her, he kept the massive structure hidden in the basement of a building he told his girlfriend he had rented to store wine in. Simon George said he was reluctant to share his hobby with his girlfriend from him, Marie, Southwest News Service (SWNS) reports. "I met Marie about two years ago and when we started dating, I led her to believe I was a wine merchant," he told SWNS. "It sounded sexier than saying I was building a model railway, which usually sends women running. She came down to the cellar one day and said: 'Where's all the wine?' I told her the truth and she was like 'OK.' But she has an art degree so she appreciated the level of detail and work that went into it. We're now engaged. " According to George, he spent eight years building the 200-foot-long model, which recreates a 1.5-mile-long stretch of real train tracks located in West Yorkshire. The model recreates the look of the area as it existed in the '80s. "It all started because I used to spend a lot of time at Heaton Lodge as a 12-year-old kid watching the trains go by," George explained. "I had happy memories of it all. I wasn't even into railway models - it could have easily been a park or a corner shop I had memories of. It depicts the 1980s as it used to be with lots of coal trains before the miners' strikes. When we're children we have our own special places, but for me, I used to come here as a child and spend so much time watching the freight trains go past. " George spent over $ 330,000 to bring the model to life. It’s currently being displayed at a local market hall until December 21. 11. Ford is going electric, but not yet all-electric. The automaker plans to be building 600,000 EVs annually by 2025 and have 40% of its new vehicles fully battery-powered by 2030, but hasn't yet put a date on when that number will be 100%. Ford CEO Jim Farley explained to Automotive News that not all of its customers are ready to make the transition, due to their specific needs. "We have a lot of rural customers at Ford that a lot of other brands don't have. We have Super Duty customers who do heavy-duty towing: horse trailers, people in the energy business who are towing big-time loads over very long distances. It's hard for me to imagine that all those customers will go electric in the next 10 years, "Farley said. "They're actually as interested in the technology as anyone, it's just their use case is different than how we've designed the vehicles so far. It does feel, at least for Ford, the transition's happening faster than we thought. But again , it's the first inning of a maybe nine-inning game. " Ford will be launching the all-electric F-150 Lightning in 2022, which has a maximum towing capacity of 10,000 pounds and a range of up to 300 miles, but has not announced any plans to introduce an electric Super Duty EV. Farley said the company has nearly 200,000 reservations for the F-150 Lightning and that its next-generation full-size electric pickup will be built in high volumes at its new Blue Oval City factory in Tennessee. Unlike GM, which has said it will go all-electric in the U.S. by 2035, Ford sees hybrids playing a role in its lineup for years to come. This sentiment is shared by Toyota, due in part to the difficulties of electric car ownership for urban customers with limited access to charging stations as the infrastructure is built-out. Ford this month will start deliveries of its Maverick Hybrid compact pickup, which has an EPA rating of 37 miles per gallon combined. 12. Former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows will no longer be cooperating with a committee investigating the events of Jan. 6, despite previous efforts to work with them. Meadows and his de él attorney George Terwilliger notified the committee Tuesday morning, after the senior Trump administration official could not come to terms with lawmakers on an arrangement to work with them. "We have made efforts over many weeks to reach an accommodation with the committee," Terwilliger told Fox News. Terwilliger said Meadows was looking to appear voluntarily before the committee and answer questions that Meadows believed were not protected by executive privilege. Meadows is set to appear on "Hannity" Tuesday evening. "Over the last several weeks, Mr. Meadows has consistently sought in good faith to pursue an accommodation with the Select Committee and up until yesterday we believed that could be obtained," Terwilliger said in a letter to committee chair Rep. Bennie Thompson, D -Miss., And vice chair Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo. He noted that he and Meadows "consistently communicated" that Meadows could not make "a unilateral decision to waive Executive Privilege claims asserted by the former president." Over the weekend, however, the committee demonstrated that they indeed planned to look into privileged subject matters, the attorney told Fox News. Terwilliger pointed to how the committee had issued at least one subpoena to third parties for Meadows' cellphone records, which Meadows intended to turn over voluntarily after screening them for privileged material. Terwilliger also cited a recent comment from Thompson that gave Meadows pause. "The chairman of the committee ... publicly said that another witness' claiming of the Fifth Amendment would be tantamount to an admission of guilt," Terwilliger said, adding that this called into question "exactly what is going on with this committee." Terwilliger cited these same reasons for noncompliance in his letter to the committee. He went on to claim that the committee was pushing the boundaries of its authority through its demands and actions. "It is well established that Congress’s subpoena authority is limited to the pursuit of a legitimate legislative purpose," he wrote. "Congress has no authority to conduct law enforcement investigations or freestanding 'fact finding' missions." Meadows would not be the first to refuse compliance with the committee. Former Trump adviser Steve Bannon failed to appear and was subsequently indicted for contempt of Congress following a referral from the House. 13. China on Tuesday condemned the diplomatic boycott of the Winter Olympics announced by the United States and threatened to retaliate. At a press conference, Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian accused Washington of "violating political neutrality in sport," said the announced boycott is "based on lies and rumors" and announced that Beijing is willing to take "firm countermeasures. ", but without offering details. The United States announced the blockade of the Winter Games, which will be held in February 2022 in Beijing, this Monday. The White House said no official delegation will be sent to the Games due to concerns about alleged human rights violations in China, although American athletes will be able to compete and will have official support. US President Joe Biden said last month that he was considering a diplomatic boycott of the event. White House press secretary Jen Psaki confirmed the boycott on Monday, saying that while American athletes will have the "full support" of the government, the administration will not contribute to the "fanfare" of the Olympics. "The presence of the US diplomatic representation at the Games would be as if nothing had happened, despite the flagrant violations of human rights and the atrocities of China in Xinjiang," she said. "We just can't do that." Different from other boycotts The Biden government's diplomatic boycott of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics is a far cry from the US boycott in 1980, when it did not attend the Moscow Olympics to protest the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan the previous year. The Soviet Union and its allies, in turn, boycotted the subsequent 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. Psaki added that the US government did not consider that it was "the correct step to sanction athletes who had been training at this time", but that not sending an official US delegation to the 2022 Games "could send a clear message. 17. The hunting effort is a bid to prevent bison from spreading brucellosis, a bacterial disease that can cause cows to abort their calves, to cattle. MISSOULA, Mont. - Officials have agreed to allow as many as 900 bison from Yellowstone National Park to be shot by hunters, sent to slaughter or placed in quarantine this winter in a program that seeks to prevent the animals from spreading a disease to cattle. An additional 200 bison among the park’s more than 5,000 bison could be captured or hunted in the late winter if those numbers are met, federal, tribal and state officials agreed in a meeting Wednesday. Bison routinely leave Yellowstone and head north into Montana each winter, raising concerns that the animals could spread brucellosis to cattle. Brucellosis is a bacterial disease that can cause cows to abort their calves. The disease can spread to people but is rare in humans in the U.S. Elk have spread the disease to livestock but there are no documented cases of bison spreading brucellosis to livestock in the wild, the Bozeman Daily Chronicle reported. Yellowstone currently has around 5,450 bison, on the high end of recent counts, according to park biologist Chris Geremia. Removing 600 to 900 bison this winter should cause the po[CENSORED]tion to stabilize or decline slightly but increase back to around current numbers after spring calving, according to park officials. Several Native American tribes and the state of Montana separately administer bison hunts outside of Yellowstone National Park LINK: https://www.nbcnews.com/news/animal-news/900-bison-yellowstone-relocated-slaughtered-shot-hunters-winter-rcna7704
  18. The Cybertruck is becoming a true 4x4. Elon Musk announced on Twitter that the delayed pickup will be launching with a four-motor drive system when production begins, possibly by late next year. Tesla recently removed the Cybertruck's proposed technical details from its reservation website, which had initially promised a top of the line $ 69,900 Tri-Motor version with two motors in the rear and one up front, along with lower-priced dual and single motor trims. "Initial production will be 4 motor variant, with independent, ultra fast response torque control of each wheel," Musk posted. The change would bring the Cybertruck in line with the 800hp Rivian R1T, which recently became the first all-electric production pickup to go on sale in the U.S. and has a four-motor layout. The R1T has also been designed with a "tank turn" feature that allows it to spin in place on loose surfaces by driving the wheels on either side in opposite directions. The capability has not been activated on customer trucks yet, as the software is still being developed to ensure its safe use. Musk said the Cybertruck will one-up the Rivian with a four-wheel steering system. "Will have both front and rear wheel steer, so not just like a tank - it can drive diagonally like a crab." The Cybertruck won't be the first truck that can do this, however. The tri-motor 1,000 hp GMC Hummer EV that begins deliveries this month has four-wheel steer and a CrabWalk mode that provides diagonal driving up to 10 degrees. 20. Former US Sen. David Perdue officially announced his run for governor of Georgia on Monday, launching a primary challenge to sitting Republican Gov. Brian Kemp in a state that has been trending away from the GOP for years. "I'm running for governor to make sure Stacey Abrams is never governor of Georgia," Perdue said in a video posted on his campaign website. Abrams, the 2018 Democratic nominee whom Kemp narrowly defeated, announced last week she would run for governor again and is considered her favorite in her party. Perdue's entry comes after weeks of speculation that the Republican, who lost his bid for reelection to the Senate in a runoff earlier this year to Democrat Jon Ossoff, was considering challenging Kemp. A spokesperson for Donald Trump told CNN that the former President will endorse Perdue soon. Trump has publicly denounced Kemp for months for not challenging the results of the 2020 presidential election - which Trump lost to Democrat Joe Biden - and has been seeking a credible primary challenger to support. Trump has also directed his anger at Georgia's Republican secretary of state, Brad Raffensperger, for similar reasons. In his launch video of him, Perdue mentioned both Kemp and Raffensperger as sources of division within the Republican Party in Georgia - blaming them for the Democratic statewide gains in the 2020 cycle. "To fight back, we simply have to be united. Unfortunately, today, we are divided, and Brian Kemp and Brad Raffensperger are to blame," said Perdue. "Look, I like Brian, this isn't personal. It's simple. He has failed all of us and cannot win in November. Instead of protecting our elections, he caved to Abrams and cost us two Senate seats, the Senate majority, and gave Joe Biden free rein. " The Kemp campaign released a statement on Sunday, when news of Perdue's plans first broke, calling Perdue "the man who lost Republicans the United States Senate." "Fordue's only reason for running is to soothe his own bruised ego of him, because his campaign for the U.S. Senate failed to inspire voters at the ballot box - twice," Kemp spokesman Cody Hall said. And on his podcast Monday, Trump ally Steve Bannon trashed Perdue's challenge from him. Bannon said that Perdue was "the last person in the world who should be trying to hold Kemp accountable" for the handling of the 2020 election, saying that Perdue did not support Trump's lies about the 2020 election ahead of the January runoff. "There's no difference between Kemp and Perdue," Bannon said, charging that Perdue was a "classic country club" type of Republican that Bannon has long railed against. Democrats, meanwhile, are celebrating the infighting within the Georgia GOP. "Republicans like Brian Kemp and David Perdue have failed Georgians at every level of leadership, and voters can clearly see that the GOP has no real ideas to help working families or move Georgia forward - just conspiracy theories and divisiveness," said Scott Hogan, the executive director of the Democratic Party of Georgia. "No matter who emerges from Republicans' messy, race-to-the-right gubernatorial primary, voters know that Democrats are the only ones who will deliver on the issues Georgians care about, like recovering from COVID-19 and expanding access to health care . " Republicans have long dominated statewide elections in Georgia, including holding the governor's mansion for five straight elections. Abrams came the closest to breaking that trend in 2018, when she lost to Kemp by just under 55,000 votes. Her performance de ella presaged Democrats' victories in the state two years later in the presidential and Senate races. Democratic fortunes have improved thanks to a combination of higher Black voter turnout as well as a shift in the Atlanta suburbs away from the GOP. Republicans have stayed afloat in recent years thanks to the party running up its own numbers among rural White voters. Kemp will also have some financial support from the Republican Governors Association, which has said it will support GOP incumbents who face primary challenges. "We intend to protect our incumbents and keep our red states red," said Gov. Doug Ducey of Arizona, who is the co-chairman of the RGA.
