  1. AMD will soon be releasing its Siena CPUs for the SP6 platform which will be branded under the EPYC 8004 family. AMD EPYC 8004 "Siena" CPU Branding Confirmed By SATA-IO, Aiming Low-End Servers With Up To 64 Zen 4 Cores The AMD EPYC 8004 "Siena" CPUs will exist alongside the more powerful EPYC 9004 family which includes Genoa, Genoa-X, and Bergamo chips. These chips will be targeting entry-level servers & platforms that are optimized with higher TCO in mind. We recently got to see the first coolers for the SP6 socket which share the same design as the SP3 socket. Both sockets are very similar and retain a maximum of 64 cores per socket. Only the bigger SP5 sockets will be able to feature core counts up to 128 (Bergamo Zen 4C). The AMD SP6 platform and EPYC Siena lineup will be a more TCO-optimized offering for low-end servers. It will be a 1P solution, offering 6-channel memory, 96 PCIe Gen 5.0 lanes, 48 lanes for CXL V1.1+, and 8 PCIe Gen 3.0 lanes. The platform will feature Zen 4 EPYC CPUs but only the entry-level solutions with up to 32 Zen 4 and up to 64 Zen 4C cores under the EPYC Siena family. Their TDPs will range between 70-225W. So it looks like the SP6 platform is designed to support the entry-level variants of EPYC Genoa, Bergamo, and even the Zen 5-based Turin CPUs. It will focus on Density & Perf/Watt optimizations for Edge / Telecommunication segment leadership. Documents discovered by @Olrak (via Anandtech Forums), it looks like the SP6 socket is vastly similar to the existing SP3 socket so the packaging layout of the SP6 chips will be similar compared to existing EPYC CPUs too. They won't use the full 12-die layout as the AMD EPYC Genoa or Bergamo do but rather stick to an 8-die layout as the existing parts. While the socket looks the same, the internal pin layout has been modified to LGA 4844 vs LGA 4096 (on SP3 sockets). Other measurements are the same at 58.5 x 75.4. It remains to be seen if a version of SP6 comes to the AMD Threadripper lineup. For now, we know that the next-gen Threadripper 7000 "Storm Peak" family will come in HEDT & Workstation flavors with HEDT offering 4-channel memory support and WS offering 8-channel memory support. AMD is likely to use the SP5/TR5 socket for its WS chips which will feature the LGA 6096 socket that is also used for Genoa / Bergamo chips but the HEDT platform may utilize the SP6/TR6 socket. The next-gen Threadripper chips are expected to launch in Q3 2023. Link
  2. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is, unfortunately, the latest in the seemingly unending stream of bad PC ports. Performance is poor, even on the highest-end machines, leading to the game picking up a “Mostly Negative” user score on Steam. Well, thankfully, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor developers Respawn Entertainment aren’t blind to the complaints, issuing a statement and apology to PC players. That said, they also warn there’s no magic bullet solution to the game’s issues on PC. “We are aware that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor isn't performing to our standards for a percentage of our PC players, in particular those with high-end machines or certain specific configurations. For example, players using cutting-edge, multi-threaded chipsets designed for Windows 11 were encountering problems on Windows 10 or high-end GPUs coupled with lower-performing CPUs also saw unexpected frame loss. Rest assured, we are working to address these cases quickly. While there is no single, comprehensive solution for PC performance, the team has been working hard on fixes we believe will improve performance across a spectrum of configurations. We are committed to fixing these issues as soon as possible, but each patch requires significant testing to ensure we don't also introduce new problems. Thanks for understanding and apologies to any of our players experiencing these issues. We will continue to monitor performance across all platforms and share update timing as soon as it is available.” While the PC is the major problem platform for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, the game isn’t perfect on consoles either, with Performance Mode being a particular sticking point. You can get more details on Star Wars Jedi: Survivor on Xbox Series X/S and PS5 here. Despite the game’s issues, Wccftech’s Kai Powell still found the game to be a solid, if not exactly groundbreaking, experience in his full review… “Cal Kestis' latest journey, this time to seek out a long-lost Jedi stronghold on Tanalorr, should feel intimately familiar to fans of Jedi: Fallen Order. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor builds upon the successes of the original title but could do more to stand up on its own merits.” Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is available now on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5. 7. MSI recently introduced its brand new GeForce RTX 3060 Ti SUPER 3X graphics card but NVIDIA has reportedly asked MSI to halt sales and recall the product. NVIDIA Might Not Be Happy With MSI Using The "SUPER" Branding, Asks AIB To Recall All Custom GeForce RTX 3060 Ti SUPER 3X Graphics Cards The MSI GeForce RTX 3060 Ti SUPER 3X which was later named SUPER3X is a weird graphics card in the sense that it comes as a brand new RTX 3060 Ti SKU years after the 3060 Ti launched and the first with SUPRIM X cooling. MSI's naming choice for the new 3060 Ti may not have been the best decision by the company as it clashes with NVIDIA's own "SUPER" series branding, making it seem like the 3060 Ti from MSI is a brand new SKU, which it isn't. HKEPC (via Videocardz) reports that NVIDIA has notified and asked MSI to recall the graphics card regardless of whether it is called SUPER 3X or SUPER3X. As mentioned above, MSI tried altering the name of the card to avoid confusion but it isn't enough for NVIDIA. The graphics cards have already been supplied to distributors and retailers which will make it hard for MSI to recall every single unit back. It is likely that some of these graphics cards have been sold to customers and retailers will not go to the extent to ask customers to give them back the cards which they paid for. This would mean that the few who got this card will end up having one of the rarer RTX 3060 Ti graphics cards in their hands. The product pages for the MSI GeForce RTX 3060 Ti SUPER3X have also been deleted and removed. The card is definitely going to appear with a new branding and the best decision for MSI is to use the SUPRIM X or SUPRIM label. It is also confusing why MSI went with a different name in the first place as all cards that use the new SUPRIM cooler are branded as SUPRIM cards. This would have avoided all the confusion and no recall would've been required. Link
  8. 13. NVIDIA's upcoming RTX 5000 Ada workstation graphics card has been revealed in the latest drivers and will compete with recent Radeon Pro offerings. VIDIA Speeds Up RTX 5000 Ada Workstation Graphics Card Deployment After AMD Radeon Pro W7000 Launch Last month, NVIDIA revealed the NVIDIA RTX 4000 workstation graphics card during the GTC 2023 conference. The graphics card is designed to be extremely compact and efficient, featuring the AD104 GPU and a TDP of 70W. However, recent leaks have pointed to another workstation card in the plans, the RTX 5000 Ada. With a recent driver update, it appears that the graphics card is more or less confirmed for launch. This information was discovered in the recent RTX Ada workstation series GPU drivers. The Device ID was spotted within the driver information: NVIDIA_DEV.26B2 = “NVIDIA RTX 5000 Ada Generation” (via Laptop2Go) The new workstation GPU from NVIDIA will mark it as the third graphics card from this series, which will join the NVIDIA RTX 6000 Ada and 4000 Ada SFF GPU. The NVIDIA RTX 6000 Ada graphics card features an AD102 GPU, 18,176 CUDA cores, & 48 GB GDDR6 EEC memory. The NVIDIA RTX 4000 Ada SFF graphics card comes in an SFF (Small-Form-Factor) design, offering an AD104 GPU, 6144 CUDA cores, and 20 GB of GDDR6 EEC memory. These two cards cost $6800 for the RTX 6000 ADA GPU and $1250 for the RTX 4000 ADA SFF GPU. According to leaker, Kopite7kimi, the NVIDIA RTX 5000 Ada workstation graphics card is rumored to feature the AD102 GPU die. The reason why the AD102 GPU is used is that the core count of the said GPU is said to be 15,360 and the only chip that can accommodate that many cores are the flagship die. The GPU is already being used by the top RTX 6000 Ada GPU but even that isn't its final form as there is room for further enablement since the chip houses 144 SMs for a total of 18,432 cores. With that said the NVIDIA RTX 5000 Ada will feature a very cut-down die and feature 32 GB of standard GDDR6 memory running across a 256-bit bus interface. Considering that NVIDIA uses a similar DRAM spec as the RTX 6000 Ada, we can expect up to 640 GB/s of bandwidth. AMD recently announced its highly competitive Radeon Pro W7000 series cards which are priced at half the amount of the flagship RTX 6000 Ada. It is likely that NVIDIA tackles back at these offerings at pricing close to $3000-$4000 US since Ada does perform much better in workstation & rendering workloads. Link
  14. New Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Future Redeemed DLC footage was shared online today, providing a new look at some of the new gameplay features and mechanics that will set the expansion apart from the main game. The new footage, which was put together in a single video by Perfectly Nintendo, showcases the Ex-Device, a special device that will detect nearby City survivors and show information about undiscovered areas, the Affinity View special events, Rinka, also known as the Founder Cassini of the City, and Rex's class Master Driver. The Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Future Redeemed DLC will set itself apart from the main campaign with new mechanics, new locations to explore, and more, as showcased by more footage shared online last week. The expansion, as the very first teaser revealed, will see the return of some familiar faces, such as Shulk and Rex, and tie the entire trilogy together, detailing what happened before the events of the main game. The lack of elements that brought the whole trilogy together was definitely disappointing, although it was known before release that Xenoblade Chronicles 3's story would stand on its own without too many callbacks to the previous two entries in the series, so it's good to know that those like myself that wanted to see more of the characters from previous games will finally be able to do so soon. Even if the game lacked elements that tied the whole trilogy together, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is an excellent role-playing game and one of the best games currently available on Nintendo Switch, thanks to an excellent combat system, charming cast of characters, and engaging story. You can learn more about the game by checking out Ule's review. Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is now available on Nintendo Switch worldwide. The Future Redeemed expansion, which can only be bought as part of the game's Expansion Pass, will launch later today worldwide. Link is Here

  19. Samsung's Galaxy phones and Google's Android mobile operating system are inextricably intertwined, however, a new report suggests that despite this long-standing relationship, the South Korean phone maker is considering swapping out the default search experience on its phones from Google's established service to Microsoft's Bing. A report from the New York Times(opens in new tab) speaks to Google employees' surprise at the news that Samsung is considering changing the default search engine on its devices to Microsoft's once-maligned alternative, inciting “panic,” according to internal messages from the search giant that were seen by the NYT. As such, come the launch of the expected Galaxy S24, new owners to some of the best Samsung phones may be met with a markedly different search experience. When word of this potential change broke internally, Google reportedly put a call out for employees interested in working on a pitch to reassure Samsung – a call that was reportedly met with "emojis and surprise" according to the NYT's report. Word of this possible change comes to light after a spate of developments surrounding AI-powered search from various companies; with Google seemingly scrambling to push a polished product out to consumers to rival Microsoft's ChatGPT-supported Bing experience, with Google Bard still playing catch-up for the time being. If Samsung were to make this monumental switch, it could cost Google an estimated $3 billion in annual revenue and would bring an end to a 12-year partnership that has seen Google's search serve as the default option for Samsung Galaxy users in most markets internationally. At the time of writing, however, the contract between Samsung and Google is still being negotiated, meaning there's every chance Google search will remain the out-of-box choice for now. Android is already widening its search Although most Samsung Galaxy users expect and accept Google as the default search provider on their smartphones (and have done for years), some already get given a choice between a series of alternatives from the get-go. Set up a Samsung Galaxy phone in Europe and you'll likely encounter an additional screen (formally referred to as the 'Choice Screen') during the process titled 'Choose your search engine,' which – as you might guess – throws out a number of alternative search providers alongside Google, including Ecosia, Bing, DuckDuckGo, among others. This option went into effect in early 2020 after Google was billed $5 billion in anti-trust fines by the European Commission, the justification for which was partly due to the way Google's search services and web browser (Chrome) come as standard on the majority of Android devices worldwide. With the outcome of this development still undecided, the ball genuinely seems to be in Google's court, or more specifically what it's able to produce in terms of AI-supported search experiences and whether they'll be enough to continue to woo Samsung, who's eyes have already clearly been caught by Microsoft's efforts with ChatGPT and Bing. 20. The AMD Ryzen 9 PRO 7940HS APU has leaked out while the Ryzen 7 7840U "Phoenix" will power ASUS's ROG Ally handheld console. AMD Ryzen 9 PRO 7940HS Is The First Phoenix APU For Business Laptops, Ryzen 7 7840U To Power ASUS ROG Ally Handheld Console We have got two leaks regarding AMD's upcoming Ryzen 7040 Phoenix APUs to report and both are for very different platforms. The first is a Phoenix PRO APU which should share specs with the Ryzen 9 7940HS while the second leak is regarding the ASUS ROG Ally handheld console which will be utilizing the U-series chip. First AMD Phoenix PRO APU Leaks Out Starting with the AMD Ryzen 9 Pro 7940HS, we have an 8-core and 16-thread part which was spotted within the Ashes of The Singularity benchmark. The CPU was running in a laptop with AMD's Radeon RX 7600M GPU which uses the same RDNA 3 architecture as the iGPU featured inside the Phoenix APUs. While there's no point in comparing the performance figures, what we can say is that the Ryzen 9 PRO 7940HS should feature the rest of the specs similar to its sibling, the Ryzen 9 7940HS. The Non-Pro chip has a base clock of 4.0 GHz, and a boost clock of 5.2 GHz, and features a 24 MB (L3+L2) cache. The APU has a TDP ranging between 35-54W while the iGPU features 12 compute units that operate at 2.8 GHz clocks. AMD hasn't particularly confirmed any PRO APUs yet but we should expect them a few months after the standard SKUs launch. The first Phoenix laptops are expected to hit retail shelves this month with rumors pointing to the end of April. ASUS ROG Ally Gets Power-Tuned Ryzen 7 7840U Phoenix APU Shipping manifestos discovered by Videocardz have revealed that ASUS's upcoming ROG Ally hand-held gaming console will be utilizing the AMD Ryzen 7 7840U APU. This is a more power-optimized variant that makes perfect sense for a device such as the ROG Ally & will place it in the same tier as other upcoming handhelds such as the GPD Win Max and AOKZOE A1 Pro which are also going to utilize the same chip. The AMD Ryzen 7 7840U is another Ryzen 7040U Phoenix APU which is designed for the 15-28W laptop designs. This CPU carries 8 cores and 16 threads based on the Zen 4 core architecture and also packs a Radeon 780M iGPU that utilizes the RDNA 3 graphics architecture. The GPU side has 12 compute units for a total of 768 cores and those will run well above the 2.5 GHz frequency. The APU has already been seen running in various benchmarks and packs a punch even at its 28W TDP design. Meanwhile, the RDNA 3 iGPU puts up a good fight with the RTX 2050 and GTX 1650 Ti GPUs for laptops. Now ASUS did state that they were using a custom version that is designed exclusively for them so there might be some certain changes though we won't know how big those changes are until the device is officially revealed to the public. What ASUS has stated is that the launch of the ROG Ally handheld is sooner than we expect so stay tuned for more info. Link
