Many tourists left for Tunisia reached 220 000, said yesterday in Algiers, Bassam Okoduwa, director of the Tunisian national tourism Office, a number multiplied by two compared to the same period of last year.
Younès Djama-Algiers (evening)-according to this manager, the objective set by the ONTT, which depends on the Tunisian Ministry of Tourism, is to exceed the bar of 2 million Algerian tourists by the end of this year. To do this, he announces new tempting offers to the senior category that will have to spend stays in thalassotherapy with a premium of health checkups for
5 000 DA the day.
Schoolchildren are not left out because Tunisians also plan to target this category by launching promotions during the school holidays. To accompany the Algerian tourist flows, new air service was launched by the two public airlines, Tunisair and Air Algérie.
The Algerian airline launches a Constantine-Tunis line on March 28th. In the case of the reverse tourist flow, i.e. from Tunisia to Algeria, the figure remains relatively small compared to the Algeria Tunisia flux.
According to the estimates of the ONTT, they were 500 000 Tunisians to have crossed the Algerian border in 2016, Constantine and Sétif are the two main points of fall of the Tunisians.
According to Mr. Okoduwa of the ONTT, a work is being done in the direction of boosting that number.
