ROG Ally X de ASUS

The Nintendo Switch marked a before and after in the portable console market, with the permission of the Game Boy a few years ago. The sales success of this Nintendo console motivated Valve to create the Steam Deck and shortly after, other consoles such as the ASUS ROG Ally, the Lenovo Legion GO and the MSI Claw among others have arrived.

In recent weeks, we have seen how the price of portable consoles managed by AMD's Ryzen Z1 APU has dropped considerably in price, a price drop that affects the ASUS and Lenovo console, since the MSI Claw uses a processor from Intel. The price reduction does not affect Valve's console either, which does not usually lower prices following a policy very similar to that of Nintendo.

Renovation in sight?

At the beginning of June, ASUS presented the rumored renewal of the ROG Ally storage plus interior construction improvements.

The price drop that we have seen in some stores and that corresponds to the ASUS ROG Ally, is from the first generation, specifically the model with the Ryzen Z1 processor, a drop that places the console in some countries for only 499 dollars, a significant drop considering that its usual price is 699 euros.

Regarding the Lenovo Legion GO, we came across a similar case A couple of weeks ago, the Lenovo support website talked about a model between 7 and 8 inches that introduced improvements in construction, a model that is currently not available. found on the market, since the one we can find corresponds to a screen size of 8.8 inches.

In some countries the price of the Lenovo Legion GO has dropped to $544, a considerable price drop since it is only available in a model that costs 899 euros in Spain.

Although Lenovo confirmed to The Verge that this is a mistake, considering that the Lenovo model is the most expensive of all and is probably affecting sales, it is not surprising that the company is working on a model with a lower screen size and, incidentally, take the opportunity to renew the processor with the new Ryzen AI 300 APUs that the company presented a few weeks ago and that offer higher performance than the Radeon 780M that we can find in the Z1 and Z1 Extreme APUs from AMD.

Problems for the Steam Deck

With these prices, and even if they are temporary, buying a Steam Deck OLED whose price exceeds 600 euros is no longer an option. Although it is now possible to install Windows on the Valve console through the official drivers it released last week, it does not allow dual booting with SteamOS and Windows.

Furthermore, at the moment it is unknown what the performance and energy consumption of the Valve console with Windows is, so, if you are considering installing Windows, it is advisable to wait a few days to see the results that other users have obtained with the experience.
