In an effort to give parents greater ability to manage and monitor the use of their children's smartwatches, a new option called School Time has been launched, which is quite similar to the tool of this type that exists on Apple Watch . The fact is that it allows you to carry out actions that control the misuse of applications and also the time of use.

The release notes explain the new feature very precisely and are as follows: “If you are a parent, you can set School Time to limit the apps your child can use and silence their device.” Therefore, it is a good tool that avoids problems when the little ones are at school or simply studying at home.

Although the description does not provide additional details, School Time on Wear OS appears similar to the “Schooltime” feature on Apple Watch as we have mentioned before. Apple's version allows parents to block apps and complications and activate Do Not Disturb mode during scheduled time slots. However, parents can include breaks for times such as lunch and being able to make emergency calls during scheduled school time. The fact is that everything indicates that the same benefits will be obtained in Wear OS.

 

 

Some details to know
One of the most important has to do with compatibility. The data provided by Google does not indicate whether all Wear OS smartwatches will support the new feature or, if not, whether it is limited to newer devices with a more current version of the operating system we are talking about. Obviously, if the functionality is not seen in the watch, things are quite clear.

The fact is that the new Wear OS function is quite positive, and eliminates potential risks of misuse by children who have a smartwatch with Wear OS, something that is increasingly common.
