Dean Ambrose™
Processors with integrated graphics are not especially good tools for gamers. Basically, they offer us the opportunity to play very simple titles, without offering us the performance necessary for powerful games. However, AMD wants to change that and has presented us with an APU with which it promises that we will not need a dedicated graphics card, that only the one integrated into the processor will be enough to be a true gamer. Will it be true? Let's see it. This is what the new AMD APUs are like AMD's new AM5 desktop processors are just around the corner. They are expected to appear during this first quarter of 2024, and with them a very special feature. Its integrated graphics, which, with up to 12 RDNA3 calculations, want to replace dedicated graphics, or at least you don't need to purchase one to be able to play with your computer. The new series will be called Ryzen 8000G, and despite seeming like a simple update to the previous 7000G, it is not. It comes with much more power, prioritizing those graphics that will ensure that you do not need a dedicated GPU. Or so they want to show us. For now the data is theoretical, although it doesn't look bad at all, and we could really be looking at a processor with an integrated graphics that does not require an additional one to at least be able to run the most normal games, not to mention the best or the most powerful. , for that it is not going to serve us in the same way that a dedicated one will. In the example that we can analyze, a Ryzen 5 8600G APU, we see how it has 6 cores and 12 threads, as well as a base frequency of 4.35 GHz. All this incorporating an AMD Radeon 760M graphics card with 8 computing units and a clock of 2.8 GHz, which would take us to speeds of 900 Mhz higher than the Ryzen 5 5600G. In summary and leaving aside so much data, we would be talking about that this new AMD processor would have integrated graphics that would surpass dedicated GPUs like the GeForce GTX 1060, so, despite not having the best graphics on the market, we would have a APU capable of performing better than many computers with dedicated cards, which would lead us to forget about the need to purchase one if we intend to use our equipment to play. For now we do not have more data, we only know that, quite reliably, they will be launched this first quarter, with high hopes of having something more definitive during the CES in Las Vegas next week, where we will discover many news from the companies , including AMD. And you, what do you think of this processor with integrated graphics from the AMD company? Will it really be above a GTX 1060? Will it be the beginning of change, where we will begin to see new APUs that will leave aside dedicated GPUs? , or, on the contrary, they have no chance and will only be products that basic users who are not really looking for the greater power and playability of a true gamer will buy.
