PCs, both desktop and laptop, are made up of different components: memory, storage, graphics, sound card among others, components that at some point may stop working like the first day.

When Windows shows the blue screen of death, also known as BSOD, it means, in most cases, that there is a problem with one of the different components or even ports on our PC.

If it is a memory problem, and we only have one module, checking if the problem is in this one is complicated, unless we have another module that we can use, something quite unlikely since if we have one extra, it will It is more likely that we are using it on the computer.

On the Internet we can find a large number of applications that allow us to check the operation of the RAM memory by carrying out a series of analyzes to find out its operating status and if it presents any type of problem.

However, as with many other problems, it is not necessary to resort to third-party applications when we have a native tool in Windows that allows us to perform the same process. We are talking about the Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool.

Check the operation of the RAM memory
If Windows detects that the RAM memory is suffering from some type of problem, it automatically runs the Memory Diagnostic Tool application and will invite us to perform a check. If not, and we want to use this application, we must open the run box with the shortcut Win + r and type "mdsched.exe" (without the quotes).

This application offers us two options. The first invites us to restart the PC, previously saving the documents or files that we have open so as not to lose them or, activate this tool the next time we start the PC. In the end, it doesn't matter which option we select, the only thing that changes is when we want to do the now: at that moment or when we restart the PC.

The next time we start the PC, a blue screen will appear informing us of the process that is being carried out and which may take several minutes, so it is advisable to do it when we do not have the need to use the equipment.

By default, a series of standard tests are carried out, enough to know if the RAM of our PC has any type of problem. If we want to perform a complete test, press F1 and select the Extended option.

Once the process is finished, the system will reboot. Once the PC has restarted, we must access the report that has been generated through the Windows Event Viewer, an application that we can find with that same name through the Windows search box.

Within the Event Viewer application, click on Windows Logs and then on System. In the Actions section, located in the right column, click on Filter current record.

In the window shown below, in the Event Sources section, click on the drop-down box and select the MemoryDiagnostics-Results option and click OK.

The record of that event will then be shown and where we only have to click twice to access its content.
