The use of paper is becoming less common. The documents necessary for many contracts, registrations and other various paperwork can now be done online. Likewise, over time, people have been printing their photographs less, and using the cloud more, or even ordering personalized albums with the chosen ones.

That is why we ask ourselves, is it profitable to buy a printer and its cartridges in 2023? We are going to analyze the possible cases and see if this type of equipment is economically profitable or we can look for alternatives.

Should I buy a printer or do I have other options?
And honestly, in my opinion, if you are asking yourself this question it is because you are not a regular user of them. If you really needed them, you would already be purchasing or renewing the one you have.

And you're probably wondering, what if one day I have to print something? Well, it will depend on where you live, but if you have a copy shop nearby, it can cost you about 10 cents a sheet. Now calculate how many you need to make to make the cost of the cheapest printer (50 euros) and its cartridges (which have limitations) profitable.

And not only that, but if the inks are not used, they end up spoiling, so that investment, in the long term, would not be profitable either, and from time to time, if you need to print a few sheets, you will have to purchase new cartridges. with its corresponding expense.

Now, what if I have to make many copies? In that case you make it easier for me, since, through stores on websites, we will have thousands of copies for a single cent per sheet and with delivery in 24 hours to our house, so if we need to print some notes or photocopy a book, It will be much cheaper for us online. Even if we have a printer at home already purchased, we will spend more on the use of ink than purchasing it in large quantities online or even in person at an inexpensive copy shop.

In summary, we will spend about 100 euros on a decent printer and its inks for about 200-300 copies, apart from the cost of paper, which amounts to another 5 euros minimum. We could have all of this for about 5 euros, online or even in person (which would only cost us 250 pages in the Chinese). That is to say, in terms of profitability, it will never be economical to purchase a printer, not to mention possible failures, jams or waste of paper and/or ink.

Only if we have enough space, we don't mind spending money on it and we will make a few copies from time to time, preventing the ink from drying out, we could think about purchasing it, although it will be more about paying for convenience than for savings, which is the key. which we wanted to get to today.

So now you know, on an economic level, in no case will a printer be a good option, and today, between the fact that it is not necessary to print so many things and that there are many cheaper and faster alternatives, if you were hesitating to buy one For my part, I do not advise you.
