Microsoft has updated Copilot by introducing the new OpenAI model, GPT-4 Turbo , improving capabilities and functions for creating images with DALL-E 3 , and developing a code interpreter for programmers.

The technology giant continues to work on the development of new capabilities focused on AI and generative AI , in order to continue advancing with respect to all the innovations they have presented during the last ten months , "as a reflection of years of research in AI, close collaborations and revolutionary innovations.

With all this, Microsoft has stated that 2023 "will be remembered as the year in which AI definitively established itself in everyday life , changing the way of working and approaching day-to-day tasks." In this sense, it has announced a series of new features incorporated into its AI-powered assistant Copilot, with which it aims to offer users "the best way to take advantage of the benefits of AI", as it has highlighted in a statement on its website. Blog .

One of these novelties is the incorporation of the latest OpenAI model, GPT-4 Turbo, in the Copilot 'chatbot' , so that it will allow users to generate responses with a "much more detailed" context. Furthermore, with this new model, the assistant will be able to tackle "longer and more complex" tasks, such as, for example, when developing one's own programming code. The GPT-4 Turbo model, which was recently launched in November , is a "more capable" and "more economical" model than its predecessor. Likewise, it supports a context window - that is, the prompts inserted by users - of 128K, instead of 32K. That is, the new model can contain "the equivalent of more than 300 pages of text in a single message."Another feature that improves the GPT-4 Turbo model for Copilot is that it has been updated with new information until April 2023. For the moment, Microsoft has detailed that this improvement is being tested with "select users" and that it will be integrated by complete in the coming weeks.

In this way, through Copilot, users will be able to access all the capabilities offered by the model that, previously, were only available to those who use the OpenAI payment API.Along with the integration of the GPT-4 Turbo model, Microsoft has announced the Deep Search functionality in Bing, with which taking advantage of the power of the new OpenAI model, it will offer search results optimized for "complex topics." For example, with more complete descriptions.

MORE ACCURATE IMAGES WITH DALL-E 3

Microsoft has also implemented new features in the ability to create "more accurate" and "higher quality" images thanks to the integration of the DALL-E 3 generative AI model, which OpenAI launched last September. This model is capable of understanding more nuances and details from text transcriptions , therefore, it is able to "more easily" translate users' ideas into precise images. Thus, users can now request Copilot to create images with DALL-E 3.

Following this line, Microsoft is combining the capabilities of the GPT-4 model with Bing image search to "deliver greater understanding of images for queries."

   CODE INTERPRETER

On the other hand, Microsoft has announced that it is developing a new capability that will allow complex tasks such as calculations, coding, data analysis, visualization and mathematics to be performed "with greater precision" and deliver the results directly to users. This is a code interpreter tool with which Copilot can write code to respond to complex user requests written in natural language. Likewise, it will run the code in an isolated environment and, after obtaining the results, it will offer them to users in natural language to provide higher quality responses.

Likewise, Microsoft has also detailed that with this code interpreter, users will also be able to upload files to Copilot to be able to work with their own data and code, in addition to Bing search results.
