Dean Ambrose™ Posted November 27, 2023 Posted November 27, 2023 If it wasn't the first, it was almost missing, but certainly when it comes to arcades and home systems we are facing one of those pioneering sagas that dared to take the old 2D fighting games and transform them into 3D phenomena that have played since 1994 tens of millions of gamers around the planet. Or maybe you don't know the legendary Virtua Fighter? This franchise was the first to set foot on a console like SegaSaturn, leaving everyone practically amazed, although the subsequent fall of SEGA as a hardware manufacturer relegated it to the background. Luckily, the Japanese never threw in the towel with it and proof of this is the news that we bring you today about one of their most memorable developments. Traditional soul, modern functions The fact is that Virtua Fighter 3 is back, no more and no less than 25 years later, and SEGA has seen fit to do so with a function that right now is essential in practically any development that hits the market, such as the possibility to compete against other players over the internet. And in the case of this fighting game, it was not going to be an exception. The fact is that SEGA has announced the arrival of this Virtua Fighter 3 tb Online that will currently only arrive at the arcades in Japan and with the possibility of offering online games through the furniture itself, which is an advance to fight for the ranking live world championship, as we compete within the establishment itself. This online mode will not be different from the one that Virtua Fighter 5 already had and in the case of the Japanese arcades, players will be able to take their statistics and results of each fight with them through a card system that identifies us within the platform, and allows us to save scores and our classification within the world total of the recreational game. Virtua Fighter 3 only in Japan? The bad news about all this is that, for now, Virtua Fighter 3 tb Online will only be available in arcades in that country and there do not seem to be any plans for it to make the leap to those here – of which there are few left –, even if In the future, SEGA itself is considering bringing this update to next-gen consoles such as PS5 or Xbox Series X|S and the PC itself. But don't rule out at this point that if things work out and the clamor for the return of this classic franchise becomes increasingly evident, the Japanese won't decide that it's time to put a new Virtua Fighter on the shelves. Especially considering that the last one arrived for PS4 no more and no less than almost three years ago, in January 2021. It was a Virtua Fighter 5 that is still valid for many crazy people of this SEGA fighting saga that still exists today. Today it still has a legion of unconditional fans.
