The Red Bull driver achieved his 17th success of the year and the Spaniard had a great battle with Pérez.

 

 

The Dutchman Max Verstappen (Red Bull) achieved his 17th victory of the year in Formula 1 after winning the San Pablo Grand Prix, which was held at the Interlagos circuit, within the framework of the twentieth round of the 2023 season.

Verstappen, who started from pole position, had no rivals in an intense race, which saw a red flag due to an accident at the start between the Danish Kevin Magnussen (Haas) and the Thai Alexander Albon (Williams).

The performance of this year's already established champion at the Autódromo José Carlos Pace was a true exhibition of his talent and determination. With this victory, Verstappen reached 52 victories in F1.

In this way, Max is the fourth most successful driver in the category behind the Englishman Lewis Hamilton (103), who achieved a pale eighth place in Interlagos, and the Germans Michael Schumacher (91) and Sebastian Vettel (53).

“The starts were very important today. I think they were both very good. After that, the whole race was about tire management,” Verstappen said.

The British Lando Norris (McLaren) placed second, demonstrating once again his skill on the track. In addition to his outstanding performance and a brilliant start that allowed him to jump from sixth place to second, Norris achieved the additional point for the fastest lap.

The fight for third place was full of emotion thanks to the fierce battle between the Spanish Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin) and the Mexican Sergio Pérez (Red Bull). Finally, it was Alonso who took the final step of the podium in a performance that left fans on the edge of their seats. However, Pérez achieved a good result in order to remain runner-up.
