The first attack aircraft arrived in the US Central Command area of responsibility on March 31, 2023. The aircraft are stationed at the Al Dhafra military airbase in the United Arab Emirates.

The first combat flight of the A-10 Thunderbolt II took place on April 20, 2023. This was officially announced by the US Central Command last weekend. The statement does not provide detailed information about the mission.

The A-10s are intended to bolster US air capabilities in the region. The attack aircraft will operate in conjunction with the F-15E Strike Eagle and F-16 Fighting Falcon fourth-generation fighters.
