[Gadgest] US Sends Fifth-Generation F-22 Raptor Fighters to Poland

A few days ago, the fifth-generation American F-22 Raptor fighters arrived in Poland. On April 6 they began conducting deterrence operations.

The 94th Fighter Squadron F-22 Raptor, based at Joint Base Langley-Eustis in Virginia, departed for Powidz Base in Poland. This was a planned rotation to maintain a forward US aircraft presence along OTAN's eastern flank.

Since last November, the F-15E Strike Eagle fighters have carried out the plan of the US European Command to reinforce the collective defense system. Now the F-22 Raptors have taken over that role.

The Polish Powidz Air Base provides the US military with infrastructure and the ability to operate closer to its allies and partners. From here the fifth-generation F-22 Raptor fighters can support NATO missions in the Baltic and Black Sea regions.

It should be remembered that at the end of the summer of 2022, the US already sent Raptor fighters to Poland. In August, 12 F-22 fighters landed in the Polish town of Lask as part of a program to reinforce NATO's eastern flank amid Russia's aggression against Ukraine.
