#Steeven.™ Posted April 8, 2023 Posted April 8, 2023 In this guide we tell you why your laptop cramps and we give you some tips to avoid it. Have you ever felt a little cramp when touching your laptop? If so, don't panic, you're not the only one. This phenomenon is caused by the fact that the notebook is connected to a power source that can generate residual electrical current in the metal casing of the device. Although it is not dangerous to health, it can be annoying and uncomfortable. In this text we will explain why this problem occurs and how you can solve it easily and safely. What do we mean by cramps? Before continuing, we must explain what we mean when we talk about cramps. In this way, the objective of this guide will be clearer. When you use a laptop, you may experience two kinds of cramps. Muscular. In this case, we refer to a cramping sensation that the body itself produces in the area of the hands. It is mainly produced by working for a long time in the same position or by placing the hands in the wrong way. It is also possible that this unpleasant sensation appears because the same muscles are constantly used when working. Another reason is that you are wearing very tight clothing and there is not enough blood supply to the hand. In any case, we are talking about cramps that act as a warning signal from the body. Electrical. Electrical cramps are very different. In this case, they come from the equipment itself because it is connected to the current. This problem occurs mainly on laptops with metal casings. It is strange that you feel a cramp if your PC is made of plastic. It is also rare for the surface of the laptop to discharge electricity if it is not charging. If you are suffering from muscle cramps, follow these recommendations: Use an ergonomic mouse that fits the shape of your hand and doesn't require a lot of pressure to click. Rest the lower part of your hand well on a surface or mat that reduces friction and movement. Take frequent breaks and stretch your fingers, wrists, and arms to relax your muscles. Gently massage the hand or apply a hot or cold compress to relieve pain and tension. This also helps circulation improve. On the contrary, if the problem with your equipment is something else, that is, the emission of annoying electrical discharges, stay with us. It is precisely this failure that we are going to focus on next. Electrical cramps on a laptop are not normal Working with a team and getting sparks is not normal. Let's go over some methods together that will help you diagnose the problem and, if possible, avoid it. Check if the plug is grounded Plugging the laptop into an unearthed outlet can pose a risk to both the device and the user, as it can cause electric shock, electrocution, or equipment malfunction due to unstable current. For this reason, it is advisable to always use a plug with a ground connection or, failing that, an adapter that has a ground connection. Avoid metal surfaces Another important point is to avoid placing the laptop on a metal surface. Otherwise, other electrical devices may send shocks and reach you through the equipment. If you cannot avoid a metal workspace, the ideal thing is to place a rubber mat that prevents contact between your equipment and the table. Check the electrical insulation of your equipment When the user is shocked by the equipment, it is almost always due to the electrical insulation contained in the equipment. If they are not of very good quality, it is possible that they deteriorate with the heat. Also, if the PC took a hard hit, some of the protective elements may have moved. Do you have the necessary knowledge to open the team? Then go through it on your own and see if there is something that is not on your site. But what if you don't know how to proceed? Then, contact a technician to diagnose the computer. Be careful with the charger A broken, low quality, or bad charger could also cause annoying cramps to appear when using the equipment. First of all, try charging the laptop with another cable and transformer. Make sure that it has enough power to power the equipment and test it on different surfaces to see if the problem has been solved. If the cramps continue even with an alternate charger, you should probably skip to the last step. Contact the manufacturer There are users who are reluctant to send the laptop to the technical service. However, remember that we are talking about electrical discharges which, although most often they do not cause considerable damage, do prevent the computer from doing its job normally. When the problem is not solved it is very important to contact the manufacturer. And do the same if errors appear on the touchpad or keyboard errors, to give just two examples. Keep in mind that the brand may have detected this failure in other equipment of the same series and already know how to solve the problem. But, even when there have been no more cases, the technical service will diagnose the laptop successfully. Remember that in Spain you have a three-year warranty if you decided to buy the laptop after 2022. https://www.mundodeportivo.com/urbantecno/tecnologia/por-que-el-portatil-da-calambres-y-como-puedes-solucionarlo 1 Quote
