A Steam Deck le salen competidoras aún más potentes: la ROG Ally de ASUS revoluciona el panorama portátil

After a few hours of doubts about the veracity of the product due to its presentation on a date as inauspicious as April 1 (April Fool's Day in Anglo-Saxon countries), ASUS has made it clear that it's not a joke. Its extremely powerful ROG Ally laptop arrives through its Republic of Gamers brand to battle monsters like Valve's Steam Deck. And reservations are already open.

Switch style, PC guts
However, due to its internal characteristics, one might be tempted to compare it with the Nintendo Switch: asymmetrical sticks, no trackpads that act as a mouse... And yet, the size leaves no room for doubt: this is an ambitious machine of 608 grams and dimensions of 280mm x 113mm x 39mm. That is, only slightly smaller and lighter than Valve's machine.

But as with the Steam Deck, this is a PC disguised as a portable console, only in an even more open and declared way. While Valve's console takes advantage of its easy access to the company's Store without any problems, the ROG Ally works with Windows 11 and is compatible not only with games that run on that operating system, but also with Game Pass and other gaming platforms.

And we know little else at the moment, beyond some very promising technical detail: Asus and AMD join forces to offer their own powerful chip, an exclusive AMD Ryzen. In addition, a ventilation system that lets only 20dB through compared to the 37dB of Steam Deck and a 16:9 Full HD 1920 x 1080 touch screen, which works with 120Hz refresh rate (double what the Steam Deck offers ).

At the moment, what can really encourage players to purchase one console or another is the price, and nothing is known about that yet, just as nothing is known about the release date, or details about other of its more features. eye-catching: the ability to cast content to TV and play like a desktop console... with PC-compatible controllers. Many questions that we hope to see resolved shortly.
