Colombia Humana, the party of President Gustavo Petro and which is part of the Historical Pact, spoke about the latest comments by Senator Roy Barreras on the health reform. According to the parliamentarian, the minister is "arrogant, activist and radical", descriptions that have unleashed a storm on the government bench.

For this reason, the community expressed its concern about the criticism against Minister Carolina Corcho, especially coming from the Historical Pact itself.

Roy Barreras is dispatched against Minister Carolina Corcho: "She is very radical... she does not speak, and she has a somewhat arrogant position."
Roy Barreras has described Minister Carolina Corcho as "arrogant", "activist" and "radical"
“Observes with concern the fierce resistance that unions, the media, some political parties, especially opposition ones, including some militants of the parties and movements that are members of the Historical Pact with political responsibilities, have exercised against the health reform that he presented for the consideration of the Congress of the Republic, Dr. Carolina Corcho, Minister of Health, long before the text was published and despite having been socialized with technicians, politicians, administrators and the media," the statement read.

According to the party, the criticisms that have been issued lack "legitimate justification" and are inspired by "the economic interests that have the opinions of those who made health a business and not a right."

"In 30 years they were not promoters of health but of disease in order to be able to integrate vertically and receive more public money, not provide an efficient service and vulgarly enrich their shareholders," the statement added.

They point out that the reform is already in the hands of the Congress of the Republic for discussion, emphasizing that it is a campaign proposal of the Historic Pact, both for the Legislature and for the Presidency.

"It responds to the electoral offer of both those who aspired to the seats in Congress for the Historical Pact and the candidate and current president Gustavo Petro Urrego, and it does not obey a whim or 'feed a revenge reform,' as the Presidency of the Congress," the document says, referring to Barreras.

In addition, they ensure that the accusations of the different sectors against Minister Corcho "obey a strategy conceived from neoliberalism that refuses to recognize that its privatization policy and cult of speculative capital failed and still does not respond for the disaster and, furthermore, it refuses the possibility that the progressive government elected by the Colombian people will carry out the reforms”.

Finally, the community reiterates its unconditional support for President Gustavo Petro and for social reforms. In addition, it extends it to Minister Carolina Corcho.

“She sympathizes with her management and her courage for defending her. Count on yourself, Madam Minister, with your party," the statement concluded.

In Vicky en SEMANA, the former senator of the Historical Pact Gustavo Bolívar came out in defense of the head of the Health portfolio. The former congressman, who is close to President Gustavo Petro, said that Barreras has to declare himself barred from the health reform because in the past he was financed by the EPS.

“I was doing research and Roy has interests in the health sector. So why doesn't he at least declare himself disabled (...) if he was financed by the EPS in the past? Not now, but in the past yes. Because the press articles have already appeared. Why doesn't he plead disabled? Because it shows that also, just as he says that the minister is 'ideologized', well, he also shows interest and that is not healthy for democracy and above all he, who is going to lead this debate in Congress ” Bolívar said promptly in Vicky in SEMANA.

In this sense, Bolívar was emphatic in saying that he did not see impartiality, when ultimately it will be Roy Barreras, president of Congress, who should lead the debate on health reform in the Congress of the Republic.
