This motorcycle, with a Rolls-Royce helicopter turbine with 420 CV, costs a quarter of a million euros and uses 32 liters per 100 km.

Marine Turbine Technologies) is an engineering and design company specializing in turbine engines for industrial use. MTT's headquarters are located in Louisiana (Freddie Spencer's land) where they work with propellers of this type to be used in vehicles that travel by land or sea.

The stereotype reminds us that American society likes the excessive, if we are allowed the commonplace: the big donkey, walk or not walk. In this case we are talking about a motorcycle that, of course, does walk, because according to those responsible for MTT its 420 RR (Race Ready - like the KTM) reaches a top speed of 273 miles per hour (439 km/h).

The MTT 420 RR uses a Rolls-Royce Allison 250-C20 turbine, the first models (Y2K) had the 250-C18, in both cases it is material used in helicopters. The maximum power reaches 420 CV while the bike weighs around 227 kg. Which means the power to weight ratio is similar to what it would feel like to sit on top of a jet engine…

The bare turbine costs $125,000 (116,806 euros), while the entire bike can be purchased from $270,000 (252,301 euros). It seems that everything about the MTT 420 RR is superlative, not just the power and top speed... The company's technicians have worked so that almost any fuel can be used, diesel or kerosene, so you can refuel anywhere...

Up to 100 km/h the turbine basically idles but when you engage second gear (it only has two gears) you go into hyperspace. This type of engine does not hold when cutting throttle, so the only way to stop the two-wheeled rocket is by using the brakes. What we cannot say is that the MTT 420 RR is very frugal because the 32 liters of the tank are drunk in just 100 km. Of course, those who have been able to spend a quarter of a million euros to buy a unit, it is possible that they do not worry about the appetite of their new mount. We would almost give that money (if we had it) to see the face of the ITV operator!
