Sales figures are recovering after the pandemic: in 2022 Honda sold 17.6 million units worldwide, almost a third of the global market.

The irruption in recent years of Chinese brands has marked a new chapter in the history of motorcycling. If the arrival of the four Japanese companies occurred in the 1960s and 1970s, we are now experiencing a similar cycle. Only that Chinese companies are not only 4, but many more...

The novelty that the Made in China push means in motorcycling could confuse us and think that we are experiencing a change of cycle with no turning back. Honda: number one in the world
The global leadership of the wing giant in 2022 has been indisputable, with sales figures around the world that are truly dizzy. Honda dispatched 17.6 million units (+4.9%) last year, representing 29.4% of the world market.

The record was reached in 2018, the only year in which Honda exceeded 20 million units sold (mopeds, scooters and motorcycles). Then the pandemic hit and ruined the party, especially in the Southeast Asian and Indian markets. So in 2020 sales fell below 15 million.

As of the first quarter of 2021, Honda's global sales have been recovering and in 2022 they have reached 17.6 million units sold. The Japanese giant controls almost a third of the world market. About half of Honda's sales take place in Southeast Asia, in countries like Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines and Vietnam, among others. In this region of the world, the increase compared to the figures for 2021 has been 9.3%. India, for its part, for Honda represents 30.7% of its market (+5.6%).

The Japanese brand has a joint venture (joint venture) called Sundiro Honda in China, which has been operating since 2001. Although China is a gigantic market, perhaps the Japanese company has not been able to take full advantage of it by not having electric models, very demanded by the consumer of that country (and promoted by the Government).
