The GodFather
Rabat - Morocco’s police arrested a “raqi” who is currently undergoing investigation for charges of sexually assaulting 11 women. The “raqi,” is a person claiming they have spiritual healing abilities and who charges people money in exchange for receiving their services. The raqi in question confessed to the police that he is indeed guilty of the charges, according to a report from French media Le360. Aged 29, raqi told the police that he indeed sexually assaulted 11 women inside his personal dwelling where he practiced his “roqya” profession in the Jirari district in Bni Makada, Tangier. He has since been transferred to local prison awaiting trial. The report adds that more women joined the case accusing the raqi of sexually assaulting them in addition to charges made by his wife who accused him of marital infidelity. The first trial in the case is set to take place next week. The detained criminal has been committing said crimes for over a year and a half undetected, luring in women with the promise that he can cure them through his mystic spiritual power that is often confused with religious sainthood. He advertised his services on social media platforms. After the police inspected his house, they seized a number of tools and amulets believed to be used for witchcraft in addition to five phones with visual content documenting his crimes.
